If Only . . .

I worked for SoftScript for just shy of 2 years with no real problems until . . . I had given them a scheduled shift, but when I had to miss some of it, I always made up for it and they never complained.
Then, my line count started to slip because after 20+ years of MT work, I just couldn't churn out the work like I used to and applied for disability--think about it--back problems, neck problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, eye strain and pain, even neurological problems from years of staring at screens.
They demanded medical documentation and, I think, were even more p.o.'d when I provided copious amounts of it.
Then, one day, they actually called me, which they pretty much never did, and I wasn't at home for my scheduled shift, and when I got home to work the extra hour or two, was promptly and unexpectedly fired for not being right there chained to my desk.
I considered filing an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) claim against them since they legally had to give me a lower quota once my diagnoses were documented to them, but I found such a great company now that I decided to drop the hassle.
(I am, BTW, one of the few males you'll probably ever hear of who won a sex discrimination suit against a different company--which shall remain anonymous.)
Anyway, I've been with Cymed for a little over a year now and just love it. They're different from any company I've encountered:
Longevity--over 25 years in the business.
Productivity--maybe 3 times in 1 year for 10 minutes, there was no work available--and thereafter, they trained me in 9 additional accounts! I'm now never out of work--the biggest problem in this industry.
More productivity--They actually allow (even encourage) you to use previous notes from the same clinician as a template! Saves lots of time!
Profit--I've been with them 1 year and just got my 1st raise--not including 3rd shift and weekend incentives! The longest I've been with another company (the one I sued) was 8 years and I never got a raise above my measly 6.5-cents/line.
And they're always hiring.
Good luck,
Clifton T.
