IC - FINDING CLIENTS

Do you have to pick up tapes and deliver the hard copies with your accounts? I used to have an account where they would dictate into my Sony system (a special system that allowed docs to dictate from their phones, pause, rewind, make changes, etc), and then I would just e-mail the completed work back at the end of the day for them to print out in the office.

What happens, is MTSOs coddle the clients and let the clients call all of the shots.
Then the MTs get stuck with account specs that are contradictory and confusing.
It should be simple. When an MTSO is wooing a client, the MTSO should present with a copy of the style guidelines they intend to follow or if it is the BOS, let the client know that. It should be made clear that with the exception of report format, the guidelines are not flexible. Either we use apostrophes or we don't. Don't do it one way for one client and the exact opposite for the other client and then hold the MT responsible when she gets confused as to what account she is typing that day!
Is anyone finding companies they are happy with and are you finding it
harder to get a job with all the people looking right now.
I'm not finding anything on MDI-FL;
all I have read about is MDI-MD.
I'm not finding much about them (sm)
I'm not sure which link to which you are referring, but their web site is not very informative. Thank you for your help :-)
Finding the right fit.
I may be job searching soon. I am looking for employee status preferably, because I hate paying my taxes, but I don't need insurance, so IC would be ok. I have satellite internet. I have a bit over 18 months experience, but with the company I am with, a lot of work types, bad dictation, bad recordings, and ESLs has been crammed into that time. I am hoping to find a company where I can do mostly the type of work I enjoy, which tends to be shorter reports such as ER reports, special studies, sleep studies, etc. I like OP notes, but have very little experience with them. I like ortho and cardio, hate infectious disease and urology. Since this is starting to read like a personal ad, I will say that I do like long walks on the beach and would like to get into a job that would give me time to take one. I would appreciate any suggestions on companies to consider.
finding own account
How would you go about finding your own account? If anyone can give me any ideas, please let me know. Thanks
Finding own account
Thanks, what should be said in the letter?
finding own account
Well, I guess I didn't ask the right question. I have been an MT for 10 years but worked for others. I don't know what the going rate is or does it depend on the specific account? Is there a contract that I would have write up? I just need a little insight if there was anyone out there that has gone through this. Maybe an MT helping out another MT. I do plan on doing research before I make a decision on whether I want to persue this or not. Thanks
finding own account
I have been doing this job for 10 years. I guess it is a little scary to venture out on my own and just wanted some positive feedback. I am finding it hard to sit day after day typing. I used to enjoy it and thinking that may be if I got my own account it would put a light under my hind end because I have covered for different accounts in the past and enjoyed it because I was able to run here and there getting tapes and talking to people and printing the reports off. Thanks to those who have given me a positive response.
finding own account
Boy, everyone is pretty brutal in their responses. That is why I posted this message in the first place was to get some direction. I guess I will go with the my alternative and just get out of transcription altogether. But, thanks to those who did help. This is getting way out of hand.
finding own account
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I didn't think it would be such a big ordeal just to get a little push in the right direction. There is always something new to learn in whatever profession you are in. That really makes me feel a whole lot better.
What are you afraid of them finding out

Finding QA jobs
Usually the way you break into QA is with the company you are transcribing for. You need to let them know that you are hoping to make the switch and if ever they have a position you would be interested. In addition, a good answer to the 2 cent deals is that you can see that the company is not truly interested in QA as they should well know that QA has to be a company person who has the time and is compensated for doing a good job seeing that the quality issues are addressed and that production pay certainly does not allow you to spend the time required to do what you know is necessary to perform that position properly. If they can't find people to do the job, the clients they have are certainly going to complain, complain again and then go elsewhere where the quality IS an issue dealt with correctly and with fairness to QA staff. We don't need to chip away at our industry that is enough disarray!
Finding another field
My heart goes out to all you Heartlanders along with all the others in all fields who have lost jobs to cheap overseas labor. It looks like there is soon going to be absolutely NO JOBS for Americans. Seems all the jobs that can't be offshored are considered jobs Americans won't do or there aren't enough qualified people, the dandy explanations for greedy corporate America hiring illegals, or what is it? HR2 visas? to fill the jobs that can't be exported. America is in a world of hurt and God help those trying to raise children and give them a better life than you have, which is the true American Dream.
finding jobs
I left MQ in early August and have had no problems getting new and better jobs. I just got a second part-time job with a national this week. I sent my resume on-line,and they responded within an hour. A day later, I had a phone interview and was hired on the spot. I still have another part-time job I got in early August working at home for a hospital. Once again, I heard from them immediately after applying and was hired after a 10-minute phone call.
My advice is to make sure your resume lists all the medical/surgical specialties and transcription platforms you know. Also put something in the subject line of your email to make yourself stand out. For example, Mary Jones, 10 years of experience.
I have heard from a few others but did not bother following up for various reasons, low pay, hours, etc.
good luck
finding a job at home
I have nearly 8years experience, acute care, most reports and specialties. I applied to a company, and I have not heard from them at all. What did I say wrong? I did say I was GOING TO buy the books...and I will as soon as I get work. I also said I would not work Sundays - that is why I have to quit my current in-office job...help! Thanks
FINDING A JOB AT HOME
There are plenty of people hiring and with you having 8 yrs experience, you shouldn't have a problem at all. Do agree with other poster to not tell them anything they haven't asked, but then again, you don't want to waste your time talking with someone who has to have Sunday coverage.
I would say to apply to more companies and you will definitely get called to at least test. Remember that they get a lot of applications and sometimes it takes a while. I've been contacted up to 2 weeks after sending my resume.
Hang in there!!
Finding Medquest
Could you please send me info on contacting Medquest? I'm looking for radiology work, but coming up with everything but when I search the web for Medquest.
Thanks,

Sorry, but wish you best of luck finding new job. nm

finding jobs
You can try the link below. It is alphabetically. What I had to do was send my resume to over 300 companies and then finally with the help of God and through prayer have found a company. Hope this helps.

I think it's just finding the right match....
I have worked for 3 different companies and currently work for two. On one of the companies I make at least $20 per hour, sometimes closer to $25 and on my second job I make between $30 and $45 an hour. I actually find myself dissapointed when I'm only making $20 and my husband tells me I'm crazy, that is good money to make at home. I don't work 8 hours a day though, neither job even has the work to keep me busy a full 8 hours. I work probably 5 straight typing hours per day.
Are you on CM or Enterprise? I'm finding sm
that it makes a huge difference if you are on CM platform - they seem to have weird rules.
finding the location
it must have been when either I was googling it, or using a list someone posted here about non offshoring companies, and clicked there. Honestly don't remember and can't find it myself again...
the clients were in NY. nm

Maybe not your clients, but many are.
Your clients may be behind the times, but many are not. VR has gotten much, much better, and I've spoken with many, many MTSOs who are moving their accounts over.
The average seems to be about 60% to 80% VR and 20% to 40% transcription. There will always be those you cannot put on VR, but it is growing rapidly.
Not all clients DO know--that's just it!
Yes, some clients DO know, and the almighty dollar is the only thing they think of. But some clients DO care, and they don't know their records are going overseas. They would be apalled if they knew. Come to think of it, so would the patients.
not when the clients have the last say
Do not get me wrong. I do not care for it either, but somewhere down the line, the companies will have to suck it up and so will we. Otherwise, we move to a different field. Unfortunately, that is just the way it is.
Becoming an IC with own clients
How does a person become an IC with their own clients, not working for an MTSO? From what I have read on this board, it seems that is the way to make the most money per line/word/page, etc. so I am thinking about doing this after being an employee for 15 years (with things going downhill now). I would appreciate knowing several things:
1. How do you get the clients.
2. Are there certain types of docs that tend to prefer this situation rather than going to an MTSO?
3. How do you determine what to charge?
4. How can someone get the dictation, type it and return to the doctor without having to pick it up and drop it off?
5. Without QA other than yourself, how does an IC handle blanks? Do doctor's offices tend to get upset with blanks?
6. Is there a particular software system that is better to use when you have your own IC service and want to get work over the Internet and return it over the Internet?
This and any other advice greatly appreciated!
I'm sure they do tell their clients to sm
hide it from the MTSO, just like the MTSOs hide the fact that their clients' work is being generated by VR.
Do you think clients don't already KNOW about VR? That they are sm
being sold it at every AHIMA conference they go to? Being cold-called by companies doing VR already? That doc don't get info about it at their little retreats and conferences?
It's better to be proactive and have VR sold as part of an MTSO's offering (with MTs doing the editing) than being undercut by other VR-only companies.
It's all about finding the positive aspects, IMO
There's going be something to complain about with every company. One person's last straw is another's aggravation.
I personally have no problems with no raises given, though. I never received one in 5+ years and made more money every single year.
I'm finding the exact same thing
Pay just keeps getting lower and I am really beginning to think I can't make a decent living anymore. Very scary! I've also tested, found the test to be easy, and then heard nothing. I think companies should at least say the position has been filled, you did lousy on the test, something, because testing is so time consuming. I'm to the point where I want to ask up front what the pay will be, but most companies don't like that. Now, though, I don't even get asked to test, and that is with years of experience. Any recruiters out there care to comment?
Finding legitimate companies
The best thing you can do is ask around on message boards about a company that peaks your interest. There is usually somebody who has heard something before or has worked for them. Search the message board for old messages about that company. Just make sure you do lots of research before you accept any offers. You may want to check out transcription matchmaker on the internet.
Having trouble finding info about
Transcription At Its Best, and just wondering if anyone here knows anything about them. I tried searching the archives, but I think their name precludes the ability to narrow down the search enough. Any information at all would be much appreciated.
TIA! and happy Friday everyone!!!
You have trouble finding work and they

The more research I'm doing, the more contradictions I'm finding. nm
.
You need to call the office if you are finding this. They will fix it. They did for me and it has
great for the past 19 months since I did that.
Anyone work on Chartscript that can tell me how you like it. Also I am finding
that IC is being offered 8 cpl with a lot of experience. Is that the going rate. Until you pay your taxes etc you are lucky at that rate to get 6.5 cpl.
She isn't complaining about not finding a job. If she states
do they even contact her if they don't have that specialty? I don't agree with any MT limiting to certain specialties because it makes it harder to find quality jobs, but I also don't know her circumstances so I'm not about to judge. Maybe she's close to retirement and doesn't care to struggle with learning new things. Who knows? Either way, for someone to try to talk her into doing something else and then be rude when she won't, that's not right either. At any rate, yes, just keep telling them NO, that's about all you can do. Annoying, yes, but no one can force you to do anything. As for the rude people, I find saying have a nice day or good luck finding what you need and hanging up works well.
For the record, the same happens to companies, too, in that they'll advertise for certain criteria but people will still call or apply without the criteria hoping to talk the company into giving them a chance anyway. I guess it's just human nature. lol
Good luck finding this. This is almost
impossible unless you work as an IC and set your own hours.
Transcription Rx? Not finding anything current...
in the archives. Ok to work for?
Anyone else at DSG finding a lack of work there lately. What
happened to it.
So far, I am finding in my research it is the best choice
to go, straight typing, plenty of work, benefits. Sounds a lot more stable than TT and SS.
Finding my own accounts. Some questions...
I have been seeking employment with a company for about 2 months now. I've decided I want to also take this time to look at perhaps getting my own private accounts. I am looking at a certain specialty and something in my area. I'm putting together a proposal letter outlining my experience and skills and how it will benefit them to hire a local MT to personalize the work. Where I am stuck is on what I should charge. I was thinking something like 13 cpl, but is that enough? If I have to drive for tapes, print things out, etc then I thought maybe 20 cpl would be more reasonable. For those who do this would you mind advising me a bit on this? What do you charge per line? Do you go by gross line, 65 character line with spaces, without spaces? So many options and I'm not sure what direction to go in on these few points.
If you'd feel more comfortable emailing me that's welcome too.
Thanks in advance!
Unless you already do it, good luck finding
All the ads out there are hiring for Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs schedule. Have seen some M-F ads, but they want 3rd shift.
do not forget the clients -
They also deserve to be billed correctly. Sad, sad, sad.
I wonder if the clients are leaving
because they are being sold and that is why I have no work? I can't wait until they make the announcement - then I will know if I need to pack up and leave.
If you are seeking clients, there is not
NM
Are their clients aware?
If I were a client of theirs, I would look for someone else to do my transcription. If I were a patient of this client and if I found out that the client knowingly supports this sort of crap, I'd look for healthcare elsewhere. Heck, docs come a dime a dozen!!!
It all comes down to the customers--that's US!!! The American citizens who trust that our medical records are (1) kept confidential and (2) are done correctly IN THE USA!!!
There should be a way to inform the customers of HIS's clients. First and foremost, we, as customers, as Americans, need to boycott the physicians first--the ones who are sending American money overseas!!! There are PLENTY of other docs out there who support the USA and want to keep the work at home. They'll gladly take my money!
Persnonally, I don't want my medical record entrusted to overseas folks who, for the most part, hate us to begin with. They barely speak a word of English and they certainly do a pathetic job at trascribing. I've seen the damage these folks can do to medical records.
I think that we should boycott MDs who are paying HIS to transcribe for them.
If we don't stand up for ourselves now, what's next????
Too bad they mislead their clients about it
That is what is so rotten about the whole thing, the hospitals think the work is all being done in the US when it is not.
RE Acusis Buy-Out, What About US-Only Clients?
Something does not add up here, because many of the bought-out company's current clients vehemently refuse to work with anyone who outsources. Won't they drop new company outright and have to look for a new MT provider?
