As a former MT manager, occasionally I *forgot* to get a new hire added to our group email system; or there was something technically wrong with that MT's email. Just pick up the phone and give a quick call - say something as simple as I just wondered if I was supposed to receive any kind of email contact from you on a regular basis.
Another thing I appreciated was when an MT would directly ask me for regular contact - some employees don't appreciate contact but others definitely need it. Just say!
