You didn't say if the money-making account was acute care or clinic work, but you do need to keep diversified. So, if keeping the part-time job will meet that goal, then I would keep it. That part-time job will get easier as you go along. I speak from experience. I had 15 years of acute care experience, ops, the whole works, and my company asked me if I would do them a favor because they were in a pinch and needed people on a new account immediately. The new account was workers' comp and basically clinic work. I was happy to help them out, it was a great account, and this turned into 3 years of work on this one account. Very little acute care during this time except on my secondary account. When I found it necessary to quit that company after 8 years and search for other work because the pay and benefits had fallen so greatly, I was shocked to find that even though I tested great (ops, acute care), the fact that I had done very little acute care in the past 3 years weighed heavily against me. They were very reluctant to put me in acute care, saying I had been away from it too long (even with the great testing scores). Long story short, I convinced them to give me a try (instead of sticking me in clinic work with a lower pay rate). I had absolutely no problem getting back into the swing of things. Anyway, the moral of the story is keep diversified and, perhaps, don't readily volunteer if it is not in YOUR best interest.
