stick to the few big points (being you only have 750 words) and not trying to get everyones experience, pay issues, etc.
How Transcription Offshoring Affects US! (or my favorite... the new price of doing business)
1. HIPAA laws... briefly state about personal info, ss#, etc. not being controlled in any foreign land.
2. Gross errors in patient records. (not sure how you can get proof of this) but the fact that these overseas transcriptionists do not even need to know English to get a job typing our medical records. How this in affects patient care at home... wrong dosages, wrong drugs, increased malpractice suites, increased misdiagnoses.
3. How offshoring is contributing to our country's deficit, ie., no taxes (SS) being paid here and the income not being spent here. Maybe not name names, but for example, if the Q had 9000 employess and 5000 now are offshored, that is 5000 worth of income, average 30,000 x 5000 lost. I am sure there is a better way to put this.
4. I would briefly touch on the subject that yes, hospitals have to cut costs but there has to be a beter way than sacrificing patient safety. And this just might be my opinion, but it is being done to pad the pockets of the CEOs, like the Q who was given some 800,000 bonus, just like the current situation with AIG.
That is a lot of information for only 750 words. GOOD LUCK and thanks for doing this.
