I worked for Spheris for quite a while. Honest answers inside. sm

Their rate of pay is pretty average, compared to other companies. They way they count their lines is fair and honest, no matter what you might hear from others. Depending on who your supervisor is, the schedules are somewhat flexible. Some supervisors are pretty lenient with the schedule, and others are very rigid. Overall, the people there are pretty nice. If you're just basically looking for a company where you can go in, get your lines done, and walk away, they're probably a good fit for you.

But there are definitely bad points, also. There's not much in the way of feeling like part of a team. You pretty much feel like just another number to them. If don't give them what they want in terms of lines or overtime or whatever, you'll definitely hear about it. They love to ask for you to work extra or switch your shift to accommodate them, but they don't generally feel like paying back the favor. They're famous for turning down PTO requests for no particular reason, no matter the reason for the request.  The recruiter will promise you there's plenty of opportunities for advancement, but really there aren't. I've known gals who have worked their butts off for them for years and still haven't gotten anywhere. The only way to get a raise is to move up in levels of difficulty, and the levels that pay the most per line are the accounts that have tons of ESL's and lots of very difficult report types, with sometimes pages of really crazy account instructions that have to be followed.

In  my opinion, if you go with Spheris, you'll make the most money if you take on a medium-level account, probably with more clinic work, where there aren't so many ESL's and not so many crazy instructions, because if you can crank out the reports at 6 or 7 cents a line, you'll make more money than struggling thru accounts that pay 9 cents a line but are terrible to type.

Only honest answers please

Was recently left go due to qualitly assurance issues.

I need the honest answers please, to be sure I am cut out for this position.

I did have another MT (good friend who also works from home) go over my work and she could find no major problems: a semicolon here, a comma there etc. I save my work for IT purposes.

I need the honest answers please, to be sure I am cut out for this position. Has anyone else ever been left go? I do know the company is increasing outsourcing on a daily basis and I am not sure if this may have be a factor.

Thanks!

VR versus MT, looking for honest answers
Those of you who purport to absolutely adore VR, I have a few questions.

1) When you're editing a report, do you correct every mistake you see - punctuation, medical words, homonyms, grammar, formatting - the whole shebang? Or do you just clean it up a bit and move on, perhaps just fixing medical words, taking out patient names from the body of the report, etc?

2) Does your VR program do anywhere close to a 98% QA standard before editing? If I were to do a QA review on a VR report, honestly, the VR program I'm using would score in the 70% range, if that. The VR program would certainly never be hired by any reputable company I know of!!!!

I should point out that I was very optimistic about VR before I was trained on it. Even after I was trained on it, I kept an open mind that sometime during the first 30 days of training pay on it that *it* would somehow *click* and I would be able to produce 150% or more of the lines that I would have produced doing straight transcription. My straight transcription rate is usually around 200 LPH, so I would need to edit around 335 LPH to break even. NOT A CHANCE! I can't bring myself to put out slop, and it just takes too much time to edit VR's crap. If I can't make a living doing it, I will find something else to do!
I have been trying to find honest answers myself.

I have been looking into becoming a pharmacy tech.  I Googled what the salary was and I get a range anywhere from $15K to $40K a year.  I didn't think it was accurate so I thought for kicks what the MT payscale was.  I got the starting pay was like $27k to $35k and up to $40k.   The whole 10 years I have been an MT, I made $30K at the peak. I cannot even make 15K anymore.  I have talked to company after company after company and the best I could find was 0.085 cpl.  I looked into an in-house job and they offered $11.50 an hour for 10 years experience.

The other thing that web site said is that MT is a fast growing profession and the demand is rising.  Well, I have lost my job due to technology and I know several other people that have lost their jobs to either technology or outsourcing, so I am not buying.

I am thinking about renewing my certification in nurses aide to have something else to fall back on until I can find something else.  CNA is hard work for the low pay as well but It will introduce me to other health professionals and hopefully I can find my way again.

I think you need to know recruiters don't always give honest answers, either.

Answers inside....

I will answer these questions, but let me say that I did work there recently but not for very long.  I just decided after a month to go back to my old job but, really, I thought that TH was a good company.  So you might take my answers with a grain of salt lol.

1.  Are you happy there?  Do you feel respected and part of the team?  I definitely was treated with respect. I do have to admit that I did not stay long enough to give it a fair shot at being happy though I definitely was not unhappy while I was there.  I was disappointed that I was not able to get my line count up faster.

2.  Is the pay competitive to what other companies are offering (i.e., 8 to 10 cpl including spaces)?  Yes, definitely.

3.  Is the platform user friendly?  I was on their old platform.  Only one account is left on this - all others have changed over to a platform that they tell me is very MT-friendly.

4.  Can you use your own shortcut program like ShortHand or can you only use their proprietary program (if they have one)?  If so, will they try to help you convert your word list to their format?  They recommend ShortHand and ShortCut.  Don't know about coverting other programs to these.

5.  Are the benefits worth the cost?  Someone very kindly explained their benefits--and they sound great--just wondering what your personal experience is.  When do benefits kick in?  The insurance (medical, dental, vision) were the most affordable I have come across.  Coverage starts on the 1st of the next month after you start working if all paperwork is in order, i.e, if you start working any day in January, coverage will be effective Feb 1st.

6.  I read on the board that they require 12,500 lines per pay period.  Is that easily achievable (meaning, is there work available, are the dictators fairly coherent, etc.)?  I would think it is probably easy to attain and that there is plenty of work.  There was plenty of work on my account but, again, I was on the antiquated platform so that made it harder to get lines.  I'm really not sure about the amount of work on the other accounts.

7.  Is the verbal quiz/interview pretty easy/basic if you know your stuff?  Yes, but thorough.

8.  Finally, are they very firm about start/stop times, or can you work your full 8-hour shift in a 12-hour window (for example)?  Not sure about this.  I just worked my 8 hours within my time frame.

Sorry I don't know more specific answes but I hated to see your question keep sitting there unanswered. I hope this helps some.  If I were you, I'd give them a try.  Very nice people and easy to work with.

I work in a program called ChartMatrix (transcription platform).  It is very easy to learn.  One thing I love about it is the capability of seeing previous reports.

You retrieve the dictation through a wav player.  Three jobs will download at once when you sign in.  When you finish one job, another job will download.

I haven't had to work weekends yet (still in my probation period), but my agreed-upon schedule is Monday through Friday 8 to 5 with rotating weekends.  I was told that means I will work approximate 1 weekend per month (you get a comp day off that week).

Before coming to TH, I did multispecialty clinic notes (used to do acute care years ago).  I forgot how hard it is! (Well, maybe not for most of you...but when you've been out of it for awhile, it takes awhile to get back into the swing of things.)  So, I'm not up to my lines yet, but hope to get there before the end of this pay period.

Benefits are great, pay is pretty good, people are nice/easy to work with, my account is pretty good (I'm trying to get used to southern accents and ESLs (only the normal amount...not overloaded with ESLs).

Good luck to you! :)

Q. Does FC have dedicated accounts, i.e., your own doctors versus a huge pool?

A. You will be assigned certain accounts, but you will have more than just one or two because they do a lot of overflow work.

Q.How much cpl for acute care? Do they pay for spaces - 65 character line?

A. The CPL varies, based on lots of different things. They have a rate chart showing their 8 levels. Each level is broken down into time of day. The later in the day you work, the higher the rate (except for level 8 which pays the same no matter the time of day). Rate is based on how much experience you have, how well you test, which work types you are willing to do, and (just IMHO) how well you negotiate.

A line is defined as 65 characters with spaces. They also pay for headers (which makes a BIG difference).

Q. How many lines are required per day?

A. You tell them how many, not the other way 'round. They like 10,000 per pay period, but that's not a requirement. Oh, they do want you to work 20% of your lines on a weekend day.

Q. Are you IC or employee?

All FC MTs are ICs.

Q. Good dictators? Lots of ESL?

I've been around the MT block a few times, and I would say that, overall, the dictators are good. Yes, there are a few who have no idea how to speak, some believe they are auctioneers, and yes, there are some ESLs. The ESLs are in a minority, but I'd like to beat some of the American dictators over the head with a Dorland's, LOL! As a whole, however, I would have to rate my dictators as pretty decent.

Q. Do they require high speed connection?

A. Yes (as far as I know).

Q. Plenty of work?

A. Generally, yes. They have run out a few times since I've been there (January of this year), but it's never very long and nothing like what I was experiencing with MedQuist.

If you hire on there, I would appreciate it if you gave my name as a referral. Please e-mail me for my real name. And no, I wouldn't lie to you to earn a referral fee.

Their platform is really simple!  I love it!  There is not any problem with work flow at the present time and hasn't been for some time.  It was just a brief period of time.  But it was not the company's fault.  They warned us that if we did not produce like we promised then they would have to hire more people, leaving our work flow low..people did not do their work and they had to hire more.  I am pretty sure that work status is all IC.  They used to have SE but I don't think they do now.  A regular USB foot pedal will work.  I believe if you don't have one, they can ship one out to you and take it out of 2 paydays for like 35-40 a each time.

Other than the few extremely hard dictators (which again all companies have), a few QA that are rude (not all though - and QA Supervisor is VERY friendly) I have no problems at all.  They are very flexible with your schedule if you are upfront with them.

Hope this helps.

Employee status. I'm part time so I don't know much about the benefits, but I believe the medical insurance is Humana. There is a 401k and optional dental ins, too. If you are full time you get PTO hours accrued, also.

You set your schedule of what times you want to work each day and then are expected to stick to it. I believe I could have chosen weekends if I wanted to, but I picked M-F. We work holidays if it falls on the day you usually work, like any holiday M-F will just be a normal work day, but maybe at time and a half.

They supply equipment that you rent for $10 or $20 a month and I think that is refunded if you stay there for a full year.

Pay for clinic work now is in the range of 7.6 and up. They have a little higher rate for acute care. Most of their work is clinic, though. Line quota is 6000 lines for a 2-week period if you are part time, and 12,000 lines for a full-time pay period. Not easy to reach for me just working 20 hrs a week but I do make it, not by much though. They use ExText.

Hope this has helped somewhat.

No timeclock, but you are required to work the shift you commit to.

I do a lot of extra work (7 days) because I have too many bills, and they are OK with that!

No to the 8 cpl flex. My SIL is starting with them. Spheris offered her 6.5 cpl with 18 years' experience with no 90-day clause!

I was wondering if you could answer about their QA? Are they helpful? Are they nitpicky about little tiny things? Do they have part-time.

Minimum QA score is 98.5.  I score much higher than that and don't feel it is hard to get.  They are strict but not nitpicky, don't count off for punctuation, but if you type of and it should be or it may count against you if it changes context.  They are helpful, often giving a link, or a note as to why report was corrected.

As far as I know no PT.   You can apply through their website.

Spheris India. See Message Inside.

Coimbatore has the potential to become one of the largest Medical Transcription (MT) centres outside the US due to the advantages of a large number of student population and health care knowledge available in the city, according to Mr Suresh Nair, CEO and Managing Director, Spheris India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, and President, the Indian Medical Transcription Industry Association (IMTIA).

The Industry, which now largely depends on business from the health care institutions in the US, could also expect to secure greater business from the hospitals in India in the coming years as the health insurance business that drives the growth of the MT industry is set to gain greater acceptance among the people here, he said.

Addressing the media here, he said the MT industry in India currently employs around 20,000 people and compared with other BPO activities such as call centre jobs, the attrition rate in MT sector was less. The size of the business generated by the MT industry annually in India was estimated at $250 million that was a fraction of the global MT industry's business volume of $12 billion. In India, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi were prominent centres for the MT industry but now the business is seen shifting to smaller cities such as Pune, Kochi and Coimbatore. The industry is witnessing a 50 per cent annual growth in the country.

He said though the US health care sector generated the largest volume of business for the MT industry in India, other countries such as Australia, the UK, West Asia and Singapore offered good potential. He said more than 50 per cent of the medical transcription work was done inhouse by hospitals in the US and this offered more opportunity for growth.

Mr Nair clarified that the medical transcription work was moving from the US to India not because of any cost advantage but because of the growing shortage in the availability of medical transcription personnel in the US. There was an estimated 10 per cent annual decline in transcriptionists capacity every year in the US because of retirement and inadequate number of new recruits joining the profession there.

He said it was estimated that India requires addition of 10,000 transcriptionists every year to cope with the demand. Apart from the Philippines that had traditionally competed with India for this work, others such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan have joined the race to get their share of the outsourcing pie. There are signs of South American nations and countries in the West Indies setting up capabilities in this field.

He said there has been a gradual migration of companies in the industry from larger cities such as Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad to smaller cities such as Pune, Coimbatore and Kochi in the last two or three years. In the last twelve months, three or four MT companies have moved to Coimbatore from Bangalore. Powered by the growth in broadband connectivity, there was also growing trend of transcriptionists working from home that offered tremendous employment potential to women.

Mr Nair expected Coimbatore to have 5,000 medical transciptionists in the next 18 months. Asked about the safeguards the MT companies have put in place to get their fee for the work done from clients abroad and to pay their employees here promptly, Mr T.P. Prabhakaran, CEO of Pradot Technologies Private Ltd, Bangalore, which also has a unit here, said the companies entered into contracts directly with the hospitals and also obtained part of the payment in advance. The MT companies have established their presence in the business and have strong relationship with their clients.

Mr Nair said a trained MT could earn up to Rs 10,000-Rs 12,000 a month, and this could go up to Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000 after two years of experience.

Thanks for your honest reply. Unfortunately, I have also worked in the medical insurance billing
side of it and I see how our prices go up and how the insurance companies pay the doctors less and less, yet these insurance carriers gouge people with their ridiculuous preminums. I understand insurance companies having to raise rates due to skyrocketing health care costs but the kicker is the insurance companies are only allowing a fraction of the billed charges anyway. If they were actually paying out all these claims at full, I could understand the rise in preminums. Well good luck to you and do not think about it, pooping blood does not sound healthy at all and would call for a colonscopy and then a huge bill and then another rise in your preminum.  Vicious cycle I tell ya.
I also know Spheris would fire you if they knew you worked for MQ. That is a BIG NO with Spheris!
nm
I worked for Spheris...
It was a positive experience for me. I never had a problem with being called if I stepped away from my desk, guess it just depends on which supervisor you get? I only quit because working a FT job in addition to Spheris as PT became too much.
I have not worked for Spheris
Just by reading the archives, it doesn't seem that Spheris is any better than Q.  I would have to say that Transcend is better than the Q in my experience.  There were times we ran out of work but not as bad as Q.
when I worked for Spheris
Went through this with Spheris, and sooner rather than later we had to punch a virtual timeclock, then it seemed that suddenly there weren't enough lines to fulfill our line count and requests to work overtime to make up for lost lines were denied, so there went all incentives/benefits.
i worked for spheris 4 years sm
i worked in radiology part of spheris.  i had a great supervisor.  the pay is ok.  my problem was no raises, or if they don't want to give raises, at least acknowledge people some how.  there were a lot of times when we had to help cover while people were out sick or hurricane katrina stuff.  i had been there 4 years and never a raise.  (no one got raises).  another big issue for me was they send work to india.  i don't like that at all. that's one reason why i quit.  i now work for a company as an IC and they don't send their work overseas.  they are much more personable.  i worked for Spheris when it was edix, and i liked it much better when it was edix.
I worked for Spheris for 4 years
They expect you to keep your required linecount weekly, pay on time, pay is on low side, they offshore, insurance is not good, supervisors and QA are good. Overall they are decent.
Well, I worked for Spheris for three years ...
Speaking of Spheris from the perspective of a past employee, I wasn't impressed at all with the company in its role as my employer. The best that I can describe their corporate mentality is that of a sweatshop -- low wages; poor, disorganized, unresponsive, and often inexperienced management; woefully inadequate benefits; and only minimally helpful QA.

However, if you're asking about the quality of transcription, I found that for the most part my colleagues were very quality oriented, most very experienced. Despite a lack of validation on all fronts, i.e. pay, appreciation, etc., they took pride in their work and put out quality documents.

I hope this helps.
Spheris - worked there recently
I worked there for 3 years, left in July. I made good money there, but I've heard that they are starting people out at a lower cpl now than they did 3 years ago. I thought they were basically fine to work for until they started switching all their accounts to ASR. When my account was getting ready to switch, I gave my notice,as I don't think you can make any money doing ASR. Insurance expensive, schedules vary, icentive pay was decent, but think that is being eliminated with new platform/ASR. In my opinion they are not such a good place to work anymore, unless you don't mind doing ASR for a pittance. Overall they were fair to me, but not very much communication with employees.
when I worked at Edix ... (now spheris) (sm)

when they were trying to get more hospital accounts within a system, they would promise them the moon and assign an absurd number of MT's to my accounts ... so that I got virtually NO work on my regular accounts and had to ask for more accounts -- which became time consuming and more importantly NERVE WRACKING to work on so many relatively new accounts all at once -- again -- some of which I got very little work on .... (very different from really learning one or two accts, adding another -- learning that -- then adding another -- truly I was a wreck -- oh and my line count truly sucked -- so when I saw there was an opening at a local MTSO, I lept ... I was stressed out and making no money ... and I had been on these teaching hospital accounts (my favorite) for over 5 years ... sad)

That's what the message above about accounts up for renewal (as in contracts) meant ... in my case, Edix hoped to get more hospitals in this national chain (most national hospital chains, I think, use more than one service so that if something happens they aren't completely left in a lurch) -- at the time I left probably almost 10 years ago, Edix also had a VERY unstable platform that was down a great deal ... trust me -- it was hell

DUH, I worked for Healthscribe before it became part of Spheris.nm

Then why leave? I've worked for Spheris
I would let them keep their $500!
If you ever worked for Spheris, you are classified as insane.
!
Having worked for Spheris before, I'd vote for Webmedx.
I tried to get on with them, but I was working three part-time IC jobs at the time so I couldn't get their test files completed on time.  I got maybe two hours of sleep three nights in a row because I had so much work dumped on me.  Blown chance!  I wish I'd blown off the IC jobs and finished the test instead.  The test reports were easy enough for me to do.  I asked for an extension on the test due date, but never heard back from them.  I understand their need for TAT, but they have to realize that it's tough to squeeze testing into an already overloaded schedule.  I'd much rather work one steady job than three IC contracts.
Worked for Spheris a couple of years ago
I worked for Spheris and would not recommend it to anyone who wants the least bit of flexibility in their schedule. You are expected to punch in and out to the minute on an online timeclock according to a very strict preset schedule. You aren't allowed to deviate from it without jumping through hoops and getting time off approved or adjusting your schedule, and you can't ask earlier than 2 weeks before the date you want changed. Kinda puts a damper on making vacation plans that may never be approved. I prefer a more open 12-hour window to work my 8 hours in, with no one keeping electronic tabs on my 24/7. I'll bet the FBI knows less about what their employees are doing on a minute-by-minute basis. I do have to say that their platform is pretty awesome, though. Wish the company I'm at now had it.
A friend of mine worked for Spheris
and she said they really sc***ed her.
I have worked for MQ, Spheris back when it was Edix, Transcend and OSI. TransTech is by far the bes
The pay is decent, probably not the highest in the business but not the lowest either. The benefits are good. Pay is always on time. Great bonuses. Great communication and most of all I really like the people and it makes me enjoy being an MT again.
Yes, it is about the almightly dollar. I worked for a hospital who outsourced to Spheris
and the only reason was NOT because they could not find available MTs but it was because it saved them money from having to pay benefits etc..
And that would be an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. LOL.
Typical transcriptionst. :)
I still feel like a team player of Spheris, as the shackle scars are still on my legs! Spheris was

Micromanaged to the microsecond, or ms!  Horrible. And part of a team?  Total opposite - part of a team as in prison.

Don't imply you're worried at all. Just stating fact that Spheris does NOT allow a Spheris MT
work concurrently for MQ - no exceptions.  MQ, on the other hand, does not have the same feelings as Spheris.  Just all I had to say so that MTs aren't misled into thinking they can do the same "legally". Even went to the ropes on this issue with Spheris, as I was professional as well, and wouldn't share info, etc. The point they raised was that MQ is their direct #1 competition, and if I was typing for MQ and doing great work, that was in direct conflict of interest with Spheris' best interests.  Guess which one I obviously stuck with!!
Thank you, Spheris recruiter! Anybody wanna place a bet that there are lots of Spheris
HELP WANTED ads on the job board?? So funny!! Out of the blue, Spheris, we love you!! Lets all run and apply NOW!!
Thank you for being so honest!
I work for MDI-FL and I know they post on here but I don't say anything on here that I have not said to them or would say to them. Honesty, it's an amazing tool, huh? Again, thank you and good luck to you!
Many honest MTs/not all bad
Yes there are many dishonest owners I am sure, been there as stated above. But rest assured, there are some great MT and owners out there who are very honest and will pay for the hard work we do, I know I work for one!!!! Just beware of the ones who have numerous accounts floating around among all their MTs, being done all times of days at their convenience(as they are working their day job at the same time)and dont always have time for you, and promises of many new accounts to come that you never see. These are the ones to watch for. I think all MT need to look out for this behavior and warn others to run when it comes their way. Make sure you are being mentored on your work and not doing there work that they claim as their own. Get your credit where it is due. keep looking good, honest owners are out there.
honest MT
I know myself of that practice with PJ transcription. She had her pay with her day job while mentoring me and getting my pay for my work also, must be why she gets paid vacation and I did not. Well I learned the hard way.
Yes, and I'm not being mean just honest..
There IS a difference.
Well, to be honest
Most companies don't consult their employees when they decide to sell. Someone either was ready to retire or tired of the business. Face it, it is a high-stress business.

I have a feeling not just the MTs were surprised.

No need to be mean, but do be honest.
In this case, I would tell her that most companies cannot provide the kind of help that you were, and what she needs is to go to school (or back to school). If she presses you and says she just needs something easier, explain firmly but kindly that radiology is mostly anatomy and contrast terms, so it isn't one of the more difficult specialties, but it does require near 100% accuracy, which is why you tried so hard to help her. If she is not willing or able to return to school, she should think about another kind of work. Just say it as kindly as possible IMO.
To be 100% honest
Thank you for your response.  I totally agree.  Actually, I've already decided not to accept work from them unless it is way over the limits and 300% better than any job I could ever find anywhere else on the earth.  What I am wondering now, of course, is just how I can best JERK THEIR CHAIN in each of 2 scenarios---a BAIT and SWITCH where they offer a different account than what was originally advertised, and a we needed you yesterday for this account, but someone better came along and now they have quit?   But, I guess I already know the answer to this.  It's kind of like letting the telemarketer go on and on with the speech, asking complicated questions, taking up their time, pretending to be interested, and finally saying NO.
Well to be honest....
A lot of times a terminology course is all you need providing it's thorough. There's almost no point in learning the equipment in school because so many places use their own equipment which you may or may not even be trained on. Each place I've worked I've used something different. Tell her to take the term. course and brush up HARD on her English skills and everything else can and will be learned on-the-job. My friend only took a term. course, worked in the Med. records dept as a clerk first, then there was an opening in our MT dept which pays more so she just jumped in the deep end. We were all there to help her which was time consuming but we were happy to do it and she was eager and wanted to do well so she absorbed as much info as she could and now she's been doing this for 4 yrs and is working at home.

Tell your friend to go for it. I wish her luck! :)
okay, then let's be honest here....sm
It is really no skin off my nose whether you care about me or not.  That does not negate the fact that MTs should behave as professionals if they wanted to be treated as such.

Bottom line......The levels to which I have read of some MTs stooping to on this board does not belie a professional attitude.  Personally, the whole thing makes me pretty nauseous.  Backbiting, conniving, and manipulating may get you to the top of some professions but it won't keep you there long because there will be someone somewhere along the line that will pull the rug out from under you.

In the immortal words of  Forest Gump.....that's all I have to say about that.
Thanks for being honest! (nm)

To be honest...
I wouldn't do it unless you really like working twice as hard doing VR for half the pay. I worked for them for a while until I went from 80/20 to about 60/40 or less typing/VR. The VR takes a lot of correcting and on top of not making money, it was pretty boring...much like monkey work to me in my opinion. I also had a few doctors who were accented and I could make great lines typing from who went to VR because they passed the testing but their VR reports were horrid and took me longer to review than to just type it. I would never do VR and especially not for pennies. I hope this helps. They seemed like a nice company but it was just more work than it was worth without any challenge for my brain.
To be honest
It's the wave of the future and even companies such as MDI-MD are making the transition.

My honest advice would be to stop fighting it, join a great MTSO team, and learn it. Make sure you get decent pay for it and just go for it. Unfortunately, I don't think any MT will be able to avoid it for much longer, so it's better to get on with a good company and learn it before it becomes mandatory.

Just my 2 cents...
ANP is not honest

Why did I keep working for them after 3 months?  You don't keep working with ANP - you are lucky to get 1 to 2 files A MONTH with them.  If you make $100-$150 A MONTH with them, you are lucky!  This is not steady by any means. Larry will tell you that it can be hit or miss on the workload when they sign you on, but they absolutely do not have the work that you think.  They have a calendar that you put your work days availablility and how many hours of dication a day you want - you will never, ever get that - not even close.  I went the entire month of May with ZERO files.  They have their favorites and that's where the work goes.  I know this because I accidentally was sent a e-mail that definitely wasn't for me to see.  It is not medical transcription at all - it is medical seminars and if you haven't done general transcription with multispeakers and poor audio, you will be in for a surprise.  You don't just sit there and type - you have PowerPoint presentations and slide presentations you have to look at while you're typing to see where you are at and what they are talking about.  It is rather time consuming.  Bottom line is they don't pay you for whatever measly pittance you earned!

To be honest
I don't think you're gonna get a straight answer anywhere. I just suggested Transcend direct because they're the only ones who COULD make any type of guarantee, but I'll betcha they don't ;-)
Just be honest and tell the truth.
If the service is one of integrity, they'll appreciate your honesty.
