I worked an account on MediTech

Posted By: Shasta on 2007-11-26

for over 3 years and the account had its own built-in templates, which were very useful, plus I used PC ShortHand for my expander. That was the best job and pay I have ever made. I was making right at $30 per hour. Those were the good old days...now I work in ExText and the account if work on is very difficult...the highest production I have gotten thus far is about 1300 lines per day!!! Go figure!!!!

I am not the OP either but another KS Rad MT. I also have a Meditech account and sm
average in the 17-18 report per hour range. I was also on a different Meditech account when I started with them a few years back and also did about the same.

Keystrokes has a LOT of Meditech accounts. How do you know which one that poster works on?

Hint: If you have a problem, talk to KB or BB in the office, not your lead. They will take care of you!
Every account is not Meditech -
I currently work for STS and every account is not Meditech. It depends on the hospital.

I think they are a very good company to work for. I have been there on and off now for 9 years.
Is their Meditech account out of work too?

I was thinking about applying because I know the platform and could use a big sign-on bonus.

I know that feeling. The account I do now is Meditech
and that is absolutely the MOST user unfriendly platform. It takes me at least 8 hours to do what I could in less than 6 on DQS. I am currently looking for something else, though. I absolutely HATE Meditech. I dread getting up and starting work every morning.
I have worked in Meditech for

two different companies.  I honestly don't like it -- cumbersome doesn't even begin to describe it -- but I make good money on it because it counts gross lines. I think it even counts blank lines.  The account specs have the ROS and the PX stacked, so H&Ps and consults are great lines.  However, I have to wait about 30-45 seconds after each piece while the report is faxed before I can type again.  I hate that!

MDI-FL Radiology Meditech account is HORRIBLE. Try a different sm
company that specializes in Radiology like Keystrokes or Execuscribe.
My account is on Meditech, which at first I HATED, but now I do not mind so much. sm

You can look up old reports by the same doctor, information about the patient such as lab tests, medications, etc.  It just took some getting used to for me.

Like the other poster said, from the email that was sent out the other day, it sounds like they are phasing out part-time people, although I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if you want to work a shift where they happen to need coverage.

Good luck!

I work on a Meditech account (not with Keystrokes)
and they have also prohibited cutting and pasting.  Just because it looks okay on your screen doesn't mean it comes out okay on their end, I guess.
I just started with Keystrokes full time and am on a Meditech account. sm

I would not call it my favorite platform by any means -- I think it is rather slow and cumbersome -- but with the addition of ShortHand and getting used to how things are done, I am picking up speed and hope to be at my normal level soon.   One of the pluses to Meditech is that you can access the patient's chart and see other reports dictated, plus lab reports, x-rays, etc.

Ewww - I worked on Meditech Magic in a hospital system - sm
unless the platform has improved mightily, it was horrible. There was no word Expander in Meditech and the spellcheck dictionary was very limited. By changing to a Word-based platform, my lines per hour increased about 75 LPH in one whack.
I worked with them as a second account
once. I only left because I had to spend so much time on my primary account that I hardly ever got a chance to work on the Webmedx account. All the people are super nice. I don't think you can find a nicer group of people to work for. They will make you feel appreciated.
There are two types of Meditech. One is Meditech Magic, which has a blue sm
screen and is like WP5.1. It is a bit cumbersome but not bad once you get used to it.

The other is Meditech Client, which is WONDERFUL. It opens into Word and populates the demographics for you.

Neither are bad once you get used to them. I make great money using Magic and a lot of others complain about it.
I worked on that account for a while and want to work on it again. nm

It was when I worked at YOG -- primary account was 95% ESL. BUT, it's not so bad ...sm

Generally, a lot of times they say the same things in their review of systems and physical examinations, and you can make up little normals for each doc.   Tough way to get your start, though -- sorry.

By the way, I don't think most acute care accounts are that heavy in ESL, but a number of 70-80% wouldn't surprise me.

Good luck!

I did not name an account. I asked if she worked for the (SM)
BG (Bowling Green) BRANCH OF MEDQUIST before it closed.
I worked on that account with a company other than Transcend.
It was the worst. I was glad to see it go. Sorry for whoever got it.
Has any worked for QT Medical for radiology? They got an account that I was working sm

on for another company and I want to apply, but cannot find anything about them.  I am currently with Peachtree and am tired of being an IC and I need steady work.  Can you give me any good, bad or other information?  TIA

I worked on a large teaching hospital account and was
frequently out of work.  KS didn't have the entire account.  I don't know if they had in-house MTs or they used more than one company.  You should have a backup account too, though there may be some  lag time between getting you a backup as they figure out where they can plug you in.   They supposedly are getting several new accounts so surely they should be plenty of work.
My company lost the account I had worked on for 5 years. Webmedx got the
account so I followed it.   I have interviewed with about a dozen companies the last year and out of all of them the only ones I considered were Keystrokes and Webmedx.
The account is not bad but it has heavy Hispanic dictators. I worked on it for another company and
get used to it, it is a great account. If you really want a different account, just talk to them. They are really good about switching accounts for people. Call Becky in the office. She is the HIM coordinator now according to her email signature line. She is the best!
NOT TRUE! I worked every account and all work types and couldn't
nm
That account in Texas was not a MQ account. They did not use DQS on that account until KS started.
They are moving 3 other accounts to DQS between now and January 1st. I asked. The MQ accounts they have gotten in the past did not go to DQS. I followed my old account, which is how I know, and it was Meditech. The account is still run by KS and is a big account too.
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
Then when we MT's are **thrown on** an account because of lack of work on our account

What is so hard to understand about that?

Then we have that account info filed away in a folder in our Outlook Express by name of account and can look at past emails sent out regarding that account.  Not fun to be tossed on an account that you have never seen NOR ever received an email on.  Sounds like business to me.

You are wrong about the account. KS dumped the account for several reasons. sm
It happened quickly and was unexpected but it was really for the best. Keystrokes does not string people along or lie to you. After being with MQ for too long, I am happy there, although it is not for everyone.

I really would give them a call as the other poster suggested. That whole situation was a nightmare for everyone including management but the account pulled a fast one on them.

I have the facts on this because I have a good friend at the hospital and what she told me matched what my manager did.

I know that they are trying to give more when so many companies are giving less and taking away more.
I worked for a temp agency for 3 years..LOVED it. Just worked. No counts, no hassels, GREAT pay..
No benefits at the time.  I even learned pathology while temping (8 months on that assigment).  I loved the variety, the ability to say I'm not available such and such time.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I didn't need benefits.
Meditech
Will anyone having typed on Meditech system please tell me what it's like?  Is it user friendly?  Thank you very much.
Meditech
Meditech is okay once you are used to it AND if you can use Instant Text rather than those clumsy combinatio keys to do your macros. I think it has improved since I used it about 6 years ago. It is a BIG change from WP or MSWord, sort of like taking a giant step backwards.
meditech
I thank you for all of your comments. I do use Instant Text so would definitely want to be able to use that with Meditech system.  But it actually doesn't sound like something I'd really like doing, from what I've read.  More negatives than positives so far.
Meditech Rad
I use Meditech for radiology for windows, have been for 10 years.  Over the years we have upgraded the program several times.  I think it just depends on if the hospital is up to date on the programming.  I took a second account that used Meditech and I don't know if the hospital was behind or the MTSO just did not understand the program like I do.  For rad, after each report you do have to go through a series of screens before the report is saved.  But that is just me.  Another hospital could be different.
Meditech
Anybody know which companies use Meditech?
meditech
Spheris uses Meditech.
MediTech

I have been working in Meditech with Citrix Server now for 2-1/2 years and it's the pits.  Even with new updates all the time, it will never compare to today's modern platforms.

Right..I do ERs on Meditech..(nm)

Is this Meditech?
If it is a slow platform, then you'll need at least 9.5 cpl just to make a go of it!
Meditech
I have been working on the Meditech platform for one month, so I am fairly new. I am averaging only 100 to 125 lines per hour. I still have to refer to the instructions for things like, for example, how to close up spaces. It is a bit inconvenient to have to go through a bunch of screens before I start typing. I guess I would have to say I do not like the Meditech platform! I do have easy dictators, though. I am not a newbie; I have over 20 years of medical transcription experience, by the way.
Meditech
Place you a sticky note or short note pad to your monitor with the function key commands. Where you were referring to closing spaces, were you talking about joining lines? Go to the end of the sentence and space, then do Shift F6; this joins your sentence together. Do you mind telling me the account you are own? Send it to my email. I will be starting soon and was wondering about the account. Thanks.
Meditech
Very easy to learn, but you need a high-speed internet connection

.h..o..r...r...i....b...l...e.
Don't like Meditech
There are too many screens to go through before you actually type. I can't get more than 125 lines an hour no matter what. Others do like Meditech, though. This is only my personal opinion.
Meditech
Jill, you have to go through screens and it is a database, which is hard to find a rhythm, but some really like it.  It lags and goes down a lot, so be prepared to save your document if it is way long because if that connection gives out on you there goes your report.  I would suggest being prepared to really lose money with Meditech at first.  There are much better platforms out there.  Meditech is a hospital program so it so drawn and bogged down with users especially during peak hours.  Good luck whatever you decide.
Meditech

I absolutely love MediTech!  But then again I was there during installation and I am a superuser in RAD, OE and PCI modules so I comes a lot quicker.

I quit a facility that I still go back and work part time at and I can pick right up and I actually put out more work there.  Of course it works better when you are working at the facility.  Dial up would be hell due to the hang ups.  If you are not familiar with medications and terminology it's tricky because it technically has NO medical dictionary.  Keep Stedman's by.  If you are working on a Word based system you should have access to your medical dictionary and then it converts back to meditech.  When I type for this company at home I type in word and then I go to thier facility and copy and paste into meditech.  I have to fix the bold and underlying which will not convert using C&P method but it saves me a 2 hour driving time.  Just make sure you always spell check from the top of a document or it will tell you there are no errors!  Both Rad and Order Entry have data entry sections but when you get the hang of it you can fly right through those.  Use the canned text/expander a lot.  In order entry or departmental typing for acute care stuff, when typing directly in the module, I don't have to send my reports right back so I actually hold them and then spellcheck and print all at once since spell check is so slow.  Good luck.  Hope that's not my part time job you're taking!

If you cannot get around in Meditech to get more than 100 lph, than you sm
are not trying very hard. The hospital I work for outsourced our work to another company and I went to work for them (not Keystrokes). I have used Meditech Magic and Meditech Client and a strange one that is half-way between the two and never have had a problem getting more than 200 lph. I use an Expander and really use it a lot.

Then again, I used to love WP5.1 and it is very similar.

Different strokes for different folks.
are you on the meditech
platform and making 20,000 plus lines a payperiod?
meditech
Typing on Meditech is driving me INSANE. I find myself wandering away from the computer and not being able to stay focused as I really do not like the platform. It is SO antiquated. It needs to be sold to India for a tax credit or something.
Never used Meditech.
what is blech about it?
Meditech.....
Does anybody have the scoop on this company?
Meditech
Any info on this platform?
What about Meditech?
I asked the recruiter this same question and she wasn't sure. She's suppose to double check with the tech ppl and email me, however her manager told her that since DocQScribe is a proprietary platform and Meditech is not, they probably wouldn't be able to save any of my expanders. So I won't get my hopes up, but Meditech already has lots of commonly used macros already installed so all I'll have to do is customize. At least that's the way it was last time I had used Meditech. If that's the case then it won't be nearly as bad as say starting from scratch.
Meditech
How do you create your own templates? And what did you mean by the F-key thing?

I just started an account using Meditech. I am getting a run-around about short cut/macros. I think they dont want to tell me anything that will cause them to pay me more ya know.
Meditech
Does anyone know the functions of the Fkeys for Meditech.   I asked and was blow off.  Thanks.
