fond of Meditech when I first started using it, but now I do not mind it at all. You can look up patient data such as medications, prior reports, etc., which can be quite helpful. And Keystrokes uses a formula to count the lines which I think turns out very favorable for the MT. I don't think that must be my C-phone account, thought, because I'm pretty sure there are more than 35% ESLs!
Good luck to you. Don't let the naysayers get to you. Try it for yourself and see. It might be a great fit.

I work on a Meditech account (not with Keystrokes)
and they have also prohibited cutting and pasting. Just because it looks okay on your screen doesn't mean it comes out okay on their end, I guess.
I work for Keystrokes and have never heard that you had to have digital phone service (sm)
I used Embarq for about 3 months and made the change to digital because I got the letter from Embarq saying I was wasn't allowed to use the unlimited long distance that much. I also switched to digital because it is cheaper and truly is unlimited long distance at the same rate every month. I was never once told by Keystrokes that I had to have digital. The only thing they ever told me was I had to have unlimited long distance.
C-phone and Meditech
The C-phone is what goes into your phone line to receive the dictation. Meditech is a program on your PC that you will transcribe the reports into and is a hospital-based system. Meditech would be your platform for transcribing. The C-phone would be your method for receiving the dictation. I would think if you have a unit that dials into a server then one would consider that a C-phone. You may want to check with the employer. Yes, C-phones are expensive.
C-phone and Meditech are both
very user-friendly machines. C-phone is essentially a telephone, you are dialing into the same line the doc uses to dictate. You retrieve the job, then like last poster, when you hit 4 or * to sign off, the next job comes up. Has same features as other machines-- you can speed or slow dictation, go to beginning, go to end, etc. Meditech is an easy platform, very simple I think, though I have worked on it before. But, when it was new to me, it was very simple. Good Luck!!
Keystrokes/Meditech
I am fairly new to Keystrokes. I am on a Meditech account that specifies no cutting and pasting. I have always typed in word and pasted into Meditech, much faster and easier. How would they know if I cut and paste? Does anyone at KS do this on a Meditech account. I don't want to get in trouble, but using just Meditech, I don't think I will ever get over 200 lph.
Thanks.
Keystrokes employees using Meditech
Are you guys meeting your line count in 8 hours or less and making a good salary? How long did it take you, after starting, to meet your line count? Thanks.
Keystrokes and Meditech info please
I am going to work for Keystrokes on the Meditech platform and now I read horrid things about the platform. I DON'T do well with donating my time to set up reports or to send them, and this appears to be the premise of Meditech... Can somebody enlighten me? Please tell me there is not a lot of wasted time (aka... DONATED TIME) on the meditech platform. Thanks
Does anyone know, is the Meditech program with Keystrokes compatible sm
with Vista? I am thinking of getting a laptop, and I found out that Dell will downgrade you to XP, but they charge you $99 more
Keystrokes/C-Phone
Just talked to a very nice woman from Keystrokes and am waiting to actually talk to the recruiter about job details (rates, etc.), but sounds like the position is mine if I chose to take it. However, it requires a C-phone, and I don't think I have ever used one in my life. I see there are several models. I want to pick up a used one, but will any old C-phone do? I hate to sound stupid, but I honestly don't have a clue! I guess I can wait to talk to the recruiter, but I wanted to start getting some ideas about price first.
Thanks.
I am told this account has a ton of work, which is just what I need. I am having trouble getting 500 lines a day and I just can't live on that!
keystrokes C-phone
Does anybody know if Keystrokes does anything but C-phone dictations? I wanted to submit a resume, but I don't have a C-phone. Thanks
You believe what you read by an ex-employee who was admittedly fired? sm
This woman screamed at many, intimidated many, scared many away. She continues months later, obviously with nothing bettr to do. Time to move on. I saw the posts last week, knew who it was and actually laughed but did not resond.
She signed then MK-MT as if she were another person who used to be there. Funny thing is, that person is back and she is not. A lot of people went back after the IS person was let go, several of whom I have talked to personally.
The abuse was not from KS. They were all afraid of her, down to the CEO, and all were afraid of her retaliation, as they saw her destroy the lives of her previous 6 husbands and her 2 children.
I just started with Keystrokes full time and am on a Meditech account. sm
I would not call it my favorite platform by any means -- I think it is rather slow and cumbersome -- but with the addition of ShortHand and getting used to how things are done, I am picking up speed and hope to be at my normal level soon. One of the pluses to Meditech is that you can access the patient's chart and see other reports dictated, plus lab reports, x-rays, etc.
Keystrokes requires C-phone? NM
NM
What other companies besides Keystrokes uses a C-phone? TIA nm
nm
Question. You posted complaints about Keystrokes and Spheris, but that wasn't bashing. So why
nm
Is their Meditech account out of work too?
I was thinking about applying because I know the platform and could use a big sign-on bonus.
I work for SS but not on Meditech. I will see what I can find out for you. nm
x
That wasn't my experience there. I wasn't on that kind of all-inclusive acct, either. nm

I WASN'T THE ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT NO WORK - sm
Maybe YOU need to read the posts you're responding to. I never said 1 word about low/no work, mention a company, etc. NEITHER DO I MAKE OMELETS - YOU HAVE THE WRONG POSTER!!
I work for KS and not in Meditech. I do not need long distance either. sm
I think it depends on the account. I have never been this happy anywhere until Keystrokes.
There are two types of Meditech. One is Meditech Magic, which has a blue sm
screen and is like WP5.1. It is a bit cumbersome but not bad once you get used to it.
The other is Meditech Client, which is WONDERFUL. It opens into Word and populates the demographics for you.
Neither are bad once you get used to them. I make great money using Magic and a lot of others complain about it.
work for same company, i wasn't notified though. nm
i had no clue til no deposit came in! i do have auto pymts drafted and i hope they don't hit til my deposit does monday. not submitted in time isn't our fault, no excuse. they could have overnighted it to us via fedex priority if they knew it wasn't going to be deposited in time and sounds like they knew in enough advance to do that.
I work in Meditech for KS and am VERY happy. I average 300+ lph. I prefer it as sm
it is like WP5.1, which I loved. To each his own.
There are also two types of Meditech, Magic with is like WP5.1 and Client, which is a Word-based program.
Not only that, but I would MUCH rather work for Keystrokes than Spheris as Keystrokes doesn't
I wasn't hired for 1 work type, but told them I like OPs so that is what I am assigned. When I r
out of ops, I usually stop unless we are out of TAT on other jobs because I do not want to take other people's work. I do not think I should get paid less for that.
Used to need a second phone line to work there. Does anyone know about now? nm
s
No, you don't need C-phone or a second line, and yes, I believe we do have clinic work. nm
x
This obviously all boils down to choices. If your willing to use a C-phone, then there is work but
if you want to work for an account that you were hired for, say using editing, or basically internet-based, the work load can be somewhat fluctuating and this could be due to the fact that many were hired on these editing accounts so it keeps the work load down most of the time. It also depends on the hospital your working on. Some have more work than others. Just be aware of what you will need and want in order to keep working. I still stand by the fact that sometimes things promised never materialize and emails are delayed in being answered. Other than that, pay is on time and for some that is enough to keep them happy. I say, try it out. Only you can decide what works for you or what is acceptable. Again, it is about choices.
C-phone accounts have tons of work
but you have to have unlimited long distance
I don't think you'll find any work here..unless you have a C-phone...
Not much work here to keep me busy or even make my line requirements.
Just depends on the account. I work for MDI, don't use a c-phone but also don't have Bayscrib

internet or extra phone line work? - nm

All of the WORK RELATED emails, IMs, phone calls, etc...sm
Up until 05/13, I was a production paid MT that was expected to work a very structured, 6.5-hour shift that was to be performed from 9a-4p. HOWEVER, the constant disruptions that came from my supervisor and other staff members (mandatory IMs, emails, phone calls, on-line meetings, etc) was considered non-productive and had to be made up. It took me 8 to 10 hours a day (on a good day) to get in 6.5 hours of transcription! I was then accused of not sticking to my schedule because many of those hours were done in the evening (after the office went home) and I was finally left alone.
Could you even try to imagine anyone else (regardless of profession)being told to stay after their shift was over to make up any time spent performing work related tasks? It doesn't happen and never will!
Why are we expected to be so grateful to be at home when the only difference is demographics? Oh, and maybe a water cooler...
Thank you. I went to Walmart today, and guess what, they had one phone and it didn't work!. Go
NM
Worked on C-phone for 10 years with 1 phone line
nn
You'll work as an employee, not IC. Need your own C-phone and pay for your own long distance line
s
C-phone accounts aren't any better, not enough work to make line counts there either. Sigh
nm
C-phone - I purchased a c-phone from someone in Oklahoma but never got it. *sm*
First she told me her grandmother died. Then she told me she mailed it. Then she told me her daughter was having chemotherapy. Call me naive, but I thought she was sincere and cannot imagine anyone using their daughter as an excuse. If this is the same person from Oklahoma, I sure would like to know about it because now I want my money back.
I know two people who work 3rd shift for Keystrokes on radiology and have a lot of work. Maybe you
on an account that has enough work. I hate to hear that someone doesn't have enough work or that they have a problem because I know that Keystrokes works to find the right account for every person. They do a lot for us but you have to talk to them until you find the right account or volume or hours for you.
I think that a lot of companies are that way but there is a lot of job-hopping in transcription. Everyone is looking for the perfect job but the grass is not always greener on the other side. There are a few MTSO's really are not good but for the most part, the others don't intentionally drive people away. That would not make sense. They need us to work as much as we need them to have the work there for us.
I don't have a second phone line ... cable modem for the internet, regular line for my C-phone.
If anyone wanst to get through to me while I'm working, they have my cell phone number.
And, as I said, some accounts are using wav files -- no doubt soon all of the accounts will convert. Hope so ... would make it easier (less expensive) to work when traveling. :-)
Lots of good companies out there -- hope you find one that fits :)
C-Phone = Connexions Phone
Dictaphone is a company and one of their many products is a C-Phone.

Keystrokes: Why should I come work for you?
I'm interested in working for you guys, but from what I've heard you don't furnish a computer, do not pay for long distance, do not pay for health insurance. Do you KS employees not mind all that? Is the money you make worth not having the above-mentioned items? Thanks for any input as I am very intrigued by this company but wondering about what is NOT provided.
? for those who work at Keystrokes.
Do you use Word? Can you use Stedman's Spellchecker? What Expander do you use? I don't know the name of the account I'm going to be working on, but it is a hospital account.
I forgot to ask these questions when talking with them today.
Does Keystrokes often run out of work?
.
Do You Work for Keystrokes?
ERMT -- Do you work for Keystrokes? I was hoping for an individual message from you about your specific experiences and opinions about Keystrokes. I can always go to the archives, etc. But I wanted a personal reply from YOU.
I used to work for DSG before going to Keystrokes...
and I have never been happier...DSG constantly runs out of work, KS never does...unanswered emails at DSG, that never happens at KS...good luck in your decision but I would definitely choose Keystrokes after having worked for both companies mentioned above...
Anyone STILL low on work at Keystrokes???
Wow, these past 4 weeks or so have been the slowest that I have ever seen. All of my accounts have been very, very slow. If it doesn't pick up real soon, I may have to start sending resumes out, which I HATE to do as I love Keystrokes, but not loving the little to no work. Anyone else in the same situation?
Keystrokes....they work for me...nm
Anyone work for keystrokes?
Would love info from someone who works for Keystrokes, specifics on amount of work, company, how are they to work for, etc. Thanks.
No.. I don't work for keystrokes
nm
Do you work for Keystrokes? sm
There are no admin assistants in the office that are transcriptionists and there are no prn transcriptionists. You must be confusing them with someone else. They have started some part-time positions but do not have any PRN positions. I have worked for KS for 6 years now and am a lead. There are no and will not be p.r.n. positions due to TAT and other factors.
Also, KS no longer requires WindowsXP. More and more accounts are Vista compatible.
