They probably work night shift to get 10/5.
From what I was told, everyone is given the same rate regardless of whether you have 2 years' experience or 20.
None, unless you work both weekend days on the night shift. nm

The post was made on a Sunday night -- no one in the office really to ask then. sm
And it seemed a harmless question. He/she wasn't really asking a policy question ... just a general question regarding when the payday is. Most companies that I have worked for, if the payday is over a weekend, they pay on Friday. Unfortunately, that is not the case here, but at least they are upfront about it, and it says so in the paperwork somewhere.
yes, you have a certain amount to turn in by Sunday night at midnight, but you can try and type it
all that Friday.
10cp/5cpl night shift

They hired me for night shift and offered 8 and 4!
With 5 years experience.
If this is true that you offshore only for night shift and weekends, then PLEASE
explain to me the statements in your SEC about going to 35% by end of 2009 and the plan to continue to INCREASE the amount you offshore. How can those be the company's goals if you only offshore nights/weekends when you cannot find US MTs to cover? I can't make the two mesh in my mind. I have seen this question asked a few times now with no response. One of the posts even vanished from the board, which I found quite disturbing in and of itself. If someone at Transcend would address this, I might feel a bit differently about their offshoring, but when they continue to ignore this question about their own statements, it is very unsettling.
I also saw a Transcend MT post and say they DO work the night shift and they canNOT make their lines because they see their work vanish around 10 p.m. nightly. This would suggest that the work is TAKEN AWAY from the U.S. MT and sent to India, when there is a U.S. MT sitting there ready, willing, and able to work the night shift. If you want the confidence of MDI MTs, then PLEASE give us straight answers about this hugely important issue.
We have also repeatedly asked if we would be able to have SE status, maintain our flexible scheduling, which is imperative for some of us, pay range, line definition, insurance questions, etc., and have received NO information, only vague statements about the foreseeable future, a case-by-case basis, etc. Surely Transcend knows what their insurance plan entails, what their pay scale is, how they definie a line, whether or not they have any intention of honoring our current pay rates, whether or not they intend to allow us to write our own schedules or work a set shift, or keep SE status.
I can't for the life of me believe that NONE of these issues were discussed between the two companies before the merger, nor have they now been discussed when the questions were specifically set before them by the MTs and again reportedly brought to Transcend by Carlotta. And yet we STILL have no more information than before the original conference call, only very vague statements. So no, this does NOT inspire confidence to stay and give Transcend a chance.
I can deal with just about anything if I am given the facts and the truth. It is the mushroom treatment that I simply cannot abide.
INDIA is what happened to shift differential.
This is true. Shift does matter. I work 2nd shift and really have not had any issues with not havi

I work both Saturday and Sunday...
every single weekend. I have for many years. I have 1 child at home. How do I do it? I just do it. I do a lot of things in life that aren't easy, but I get by. I knew when I became an MT that I was entering the medical field, which does, contrary to what some people may believe, operate on a 24/7/365 schedule in most instances. People do get sick/injured on weekends. If you aren't satisfied with working weekends, your best bet is to find clinic work. Then, your only complaint may be the pay, which is generally lower than acute care because the work is considered easier. Oh, well, I guess you can't win.
night work
I realize you're only talking about evening into early morning hours here, but there are some things you may want to consider:
If you're not used to staying up late, at first you may find it easier to fall asleep as soon as you get home because you'll be exhausted. But once your body becomes used to this schedule, I would count on 1-2 hours of unwind time before you fall asleep after getting home. Been there; done it. Then add 7 to 8 hours of good, sound rest before your daughter needs you.
Breaking up your sleep pattern will not be good in the long run because it will take its toll on your health. Naps are okay for short-term use but you really need deep, undisturbed sleep to function well, stay healthy, and not be irritable all day. This advice comes from my college Psych class and personal experience over many years. And as I'm sure you know, a special needs child takes extra care and that in itself draws on your mental and physical resources before you even head off to work.
If you're someone who can't stay up past 10 or 11 now, your production is going to suffer while you fight sleep. It's going to take time to try to re-program your body and using stimulants like coffee or caffeine to get you through your shift takes a futher toll on your health and might make it harder to fall asleep once you get home.
If you think of yourself as a night person you might be able to make this work. If you're not, I'd think twice. You can't really change your body's programming. The best you'd be doing is compromising it. I really don't think the money is worth the trouble you're headed for if this would not come naturally to you. If I were you, I'd look for a schedule that works WITH my body's timing so that the whole time is spent producing when I am physically and mentally naturally at my best. Your increased production during this time could meet or exceed the $17.
Hope this helps some!
No work at night either. sm
The only time my account has work, if I'm lucky, is Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday and usually during the day. By the night time on those days the work is usually gone. On Monday it is usually gone. I took another part time job back in March and I'm glad I did.
I worked last night and never ran out of work???
not sure why some are and some are not. Hmmm...maybe those running out are not staying signed in?
I pulled eve/night so that I could get work...sm
NADA NADA. Left after my 2-week training.
Run out of work every single night.
Can hub's work safely if your daughter is up at night,

Big time..They usually have the Indians work at night and weekends. It can be frustrating to log in
and have their not be a lot of work on the account your on. The only Escription account that has extra work is the one in which the hospital had them agreed NOT to send their transcription to India. Otherwise, we have to share our work with our partners as they call them.
I know two people who work 3rd shift for Keystrokes on radiology and have a lot of work. Maybe you
on an account that has enough work. I hate to hear that someone doesn't have enough work or that they have a problem because I know that Keystrokes works to find the right account for every person. They do a lot for us but you have to talk to them until you find the right account or volume or hours for you.
I think that a lot of companies are that way but there is a lot of job-hopping in transcription. Everyone is looking for the perfect job but the grass is not always greener on the other side. There are a few MTSO's really are not good but for the most part, the others don't intentionally drive people away. That would not make sense. They need us to work as much as we need them to have the work there for us.
Work PT for a company and noticed something odd. When I work the day shift I get (sm)
actually fairly good dictators, a couple of toughies, but no more than one would expect. When I do the late afternoon/early evening shift it is like night and day. I get some really crummy dictators and tons of problem/miscoded reports.
They have said that there is no cherry picking able to be done with this program so I just have to wonder if the crappy dictators can't get to the dictate stations until after 4 p.m. or what?
Nuff said, back to work. Thanks for letting me air it out.
Isnt it sad. We just want to go to work every day on our shift, work our 8 hours and be done with it
Instead I sit here hours hoping the Indians leave some work for us so we can at least get our 8 hours in. Nothing like logging onto you shift and being told no work. Nice.
You WILL have TT work on 3rd shift
NM
Do Not Work Day Shift
Work afternoons and weekend days and Saturday afternoon still ran out of work......
Not all of us work DAY SHIFT
& what we do with OUR time is OUR business. You have an awfully bossy attitude. Good luck finding ANYONE to deal with your BS.
From what I can tell, not so much work second shift but
they seem like a good co. to me. Why don't people like them?
Yes, I did work first shift
and I always got emailed to work in the evenings or on Saturday. I can imagine which doctor you don't like. There was one who talked so fast I wanted to scream, lol
Maybe they work another shift and this is their time off- duh
nm
I work the gravy shift thank you very much
and have plenty of work because my company knows how to staff enough MTs without going overboard (and they don't have ads every three months like a lot of these big nationals do either)
Adding, you do have to work the shift SM
you commit to. If you are wanting flexibility as far as being able to leave in the middle of a shift and make up the time later, you would have to negotiate a split shift with them in the beginning and see if they would go for that. As far as my experience goes, I did 8 hours with a lunch break and turned in 40 hours per week. I'm sure if there was an emergency I could have flexed my time for 1 day but if you need flex time every day for picking up kids, etc. you should mention that in the interview and see if they can accommodate. Once you commit to a schedule it is difficult to get it changed.
Let me guess, you only work day shift Mon-Fri? sm
that's the only way you can be out of work for weeks as you say. Every Friday and Saturday the accounts I work on are out of turnaround time and our STM begs BEGS BEGS for MTs to help.
Out of work already - 1.5 hours into shift. (sm)
Bet there will be no holiday pay for a lot of us since we have to have 32 hours in addition to the holiday to qualify for holiday pay. (WMX). We will be all sitting and scrapping for the work. Hope those new accounts come on soon and just swamp us with work.
Holiday weeks are usually feast and famine but I just had to gripe. Excuse me now. Have a good holiday all.
Nobody said slow down. They said work your own shift. If everyone worked when they
//
MDI-FL will let you work split-shift too I heard...nm
a
they call you if you don't work your schedule shift
nm
In another post, you say that you are 3rd shift. There is plenty of work on sm
other shifts. I spoke to my lead last night, and she is getting 3 new accounts to manage and told me that there are more than a dozen starting throughout the next month.
Work flow depends on the shift
Less work available during the day because that is when most people want to work.
Depends on your shift, work days,
I think the base pay was 8.5 but you have in addition to that shift and weekend differentials as well as you get another differential for keeping QA submissions below a certain percentage, and this line rate goes back to line 1, so you could make around 9.5 to 9.75 I believe depending on your shift.
What I liked best about TT is that you are not limited to 10 reports a day for an eternity and having to jump through hoops to get off QA. You can type as much as you like from the start because it will go to QA anyway until you are released from QA. I have not found another company like that.
Hope this helps.
If you want to work the graveyard shift, weekends,
and holidays, then have at it! But don't others to want to do that too. Some of us have a life. This job doesn't pay well enough to go through all that. If they want to pay me as much as a nurse, then I'll work those horrible shifts like nurses do, but not for the lousy wages they pay MTs these days. No thanks. I'll be at the lake on the weekends & holidays and enjoying dinner with my family during the week! You're more than welcome to work the crap shift if that's what you think you deserve.
No special errands to run, just work your shift. :) nm

How do you figure work on your shift is YOUR work . sm
The MTs working on your shift are instructed or given the green light to do so because there was no/low work on their own scheduled shift. But you don't want to work outside of your shift to make up lines, while they do -- even though no one should have to -- and I DO blame the MTSOs for overhiring to set themselves up nicely, have extra MTs in their back pockets in case of extra work -- at our expense. But it is unfair to blame an MT to work on what you consider your schedule. I have had to do this many times when my own schedule was no/low work and I have had it done to work on my shift.
3rd shift radiology can be like that. Feast or famine. Same with 3rd shift sm
ER work. Sometimes the doctors are too busy to dictate, so they do it at the end. Why don't you talk to them and ask about a different shift?
Sent it Sunday (by fax) then (sm)
immediately got e-mail asking to fill out questionnaire, did that on Sunday too..then haven't heard, am I just not patient enough? Thanks! I really want to talk with them, but don't want to bug them either. Thanks for the info!
She clearly said several times that she starts her shift, gets work as it comes in, and then stays
on and types at night or whenever she feels like getting the work to meet her goal. I don't even work for Transcend NOW, but read her clearly post over and over how she meets these numbers. She works WHENEVER she can to meet her goal if the work is NOT there during her scheduled shift. What is so hard about understanding that? Yes, some MTs are allowed to do that at Transcend, so she's not doing anything wrong. TO REPEAT: She works her shift, typing what comes, making good use of her down time in the meanwhile - think she does chores or something. If there is no work on her set shift, she stays on at night and grabs the work she can to meet her GOALS.
No it isn't. I think it depends on what work you do and your shift, but I make 9 cpl plus incent

I was hired for 3rd shift and was told there was plenty of work
i was given 4 accts and still don't make money - that is all i am saying
Employees work a specific shift at TransTech?
Or do you just have to commit to a certain number of lines per day? An an IC with my current company, I commit to X number of lines per day, and as long as I get them done within 24 hours, I've met my commitment. Don't want shift work, i.e. 7-3, 3-11, 11-7. There is absolutely no flexibility in that. Noticed in post before this that Diskriter requires a shift commitment or a split shift.
I do work all hours, including my days off, and 3rd shift
to try to make up hours, but I'm short most weeks. There are lots of accounts with low work, yet they keep hiring more.
I don't need the benefits, but I was told that if there is no work it will not affect benefits. I am new too and not eligible for benefits until next month anyway, so I can't say if that is true or not.
It's third shift work; we are extremely busy and they have a lot of (see inside)
accounts. I love Transcend. Best place I ever worked
Once again OT offered - no work for my scheduled shift at Wbmdx. sm
I think OT is great, took advantage of some Friday myself, but for goodness sake, don't just go off for the weekend leaving OT offered when the counts are WAAAY down. Can the Solution Center take OT off or do they have to wait for supervisors/etc. to do so. When someone comes on for OT and they give them blocks of 10, doesn't take long to run the rest of us totally out of our shift. Love everything else about this company, but..... this sucks.
She was my coordinator....She was there as of Sunday...
thanking us all for the hard work with TAT! I had my last day thank goodness, my head was spinning from the revolving door of ACs, TLs, etc!
It is Sunday, my brain's day off.

Sunday and Monday
I'm not on the schedule with any of them on Sunday, Monday I only work for one of them. I took the third job because it's a specialty I like and want to do more of. I'm trying to decide which direction to go in - certainly don't want to work this much indefinitely.
