I used to work for a company who separated the MTs by work type daily. sm

regret ever leaving that company. we had a max of 4 MTs typing a large training hospital with clinics. i was assigned consults and discharges with consults being my priority. another MT had ops and admits, etc. it worked so much better. we were RARELY out of TAT and each of us were trained on other report types for backup in case someone need to take off. not to mention that we were easily able to learn the ESLs because we got them repeatively enough to learn them, set up templates, etc. much, much more productive for us as MTs, for the company as work flow, and i am sure for the dictator because they got someone who knew them and their dictations well enough to be accurate. i don't understand why large MTSOs cannot comprehend how much more beneficial that would be.

Who here is required to type 1800 lines on a daily basis for FT work?
x
1200 lines daily is great if you have the work, personally, I never had enough work so
I left and have NEVER been sorry!
I work for All Type. They are a decent company.
Check them out. I am an IC but if you live in certain states you can be an employee or SE. Not sure if they need anyone right now though.
Anyone currently work for All Type or have recent experience with the company? sm

I'm currently exploring my options, and was impressed with the $1000 signon bonus offered, but wondering about the usual things -- quality and quantity of work available, pay on time, etc.

Any input would be appreciated.

depends on work type, experience, spaces, company, area

Daily Work and TAT sm
I just started a new IC position last Monday.  I had one day with some work last week (due to holiday) and yesterday there was nothing and today a 2 minute job.  The company says they do not know when or who will dump the jobs.  The TAT is 24 hours and work could be dumped any time of day.  I report for work at about 7 a.m.  Do you just sit around all day waiting for work?  Should there be a cut-off time when it's too late to start?  We do have lives too.  What would you do?  No other job expects you to wait around without being paid.  I must be thick or something.  Thanks for the input.
Daily Work and TAT............
It is probably just the holidays. Just hang in there. I have a very flexible schedule, so I know what you mean about waiting all day. I am home all day (homebody) and like the fact that I can check in, work when needed and get my house clean, take care of my kids and cook, etc in between time. I work for a GREAT MTSO and have never had an out of work situation until the holidays. It will pick up. :)
Running out of work daily
We have started running out daily, a lot of the time when I sign on in the morning there is no work on my primary, maybe not even secondary. Our supervisor has asked many to switch shifts, to work the night shift and I know 10 or so have done so. It seems we were getting out of TAT in the evenings, so NOW it is over compensated and there is not much during the day, before noon, anyway. Used to work 8-10 hours OT every week, now that is down to 5-6 or less hours OT. I don't know what to do. I need my hours and some OT, too. Can't work nights.
Transcend's out of work daily.

You might be able to get enough work if your hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. but there is no work in the morning and at night I watch 40 to 50 jobs disappear all at once and I have nothing left to do.

MT work losing money daily
With the no raise and line count these services pay, 1 report with a difficult ESL doctor who makes a lot of money can end up with the TX making 3/hr. Illegal aliens make more so hospitals seem to hire interpreters now at 50/hr or more and thick accented doctors seem to not care to learn English and the Transcriptionist leaves holes for Editor - if someone else feels like learning their language - be my guest, but I have to feed a family and make some money in this dying paid profession. If I received 50/hr or 12 cpl, I would try to decipher but for 4 years .0825 and I cannot. I am not an interpreter. Starting to hate my job lately. No money. I see illegals with cell phones, nice apartments and yet they won't learn English and I struggle working 14 hours a day or more just with maybe a little food. The job is not an easy one but the pay is less than picking fruit in a field.
Emails daily regarding TAT, order of work
it's usually first thing in morning; then the auto-generated emails regarding STATS. Otherwise, it's *no news is good news.*

It would seem strange to get no communication at all.
My plumber doesn't do work for me on a daily basis. .sm
In my state, we need to get a 1099 if we make over $1000 as an IC. I have never paid a plumber that much money, thank goodness!
I do not work for them, but I have done recruiting for companies of their type of work
It is A LOT different than regular medical transcription. The pay is a little less (unless you are proficient and fast), but the work is harder in that there are multiple people speaking and the nature of the medical advisory boards are quite detailed. I receive quite a few resumes of medical transcriptionists wanting to do this type of work, but when you test them, it is a whole different ballgame.

Good luck and let me know how you do on the test!

Anyone else working for eTransPlus running out of work on a daily basis?
How are you handling it?
how do we work it? Easy answer - work for another company. That happened with the company
I was working for. I would wake up at 4 a.m. AND ON THE WEEKENDS TOO because they needed "coverage" supposedly and I would sit until 9:30 or noon without any work. Sorry, but my rent of $1450/month could not be paid with only $57/day. So I got another job and when I got the equipment and everything, then I quit for the other employer.
I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time?  I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to.  If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info.  Thanks!
Absolutely not! I work for the best MTSO. I am have been so blessed to work for the small company I

I will share this about the MTSO I work for.  I called her late last Wednesday night after Church and told her I was compelled to help out with Hurricaine Katrina in some way and an opportunity arose for a small group from my Church to go to Louisianna this coming week.  Would she be able to cover my work.  She told me no problem without any hesitation and even donated money for the trip.

And I am sure there are plenty of good companies out there to work for.  To compare us to migrant workers is just not right.

Like I said - it depends who you work for. I work for a hospital at home - not a company. nm
x
I actually left about a year ago and work for another company that's running out of work. Have to
x
I so wholeheartedly agree with you. Don't work for KS but work for SS - another company bashed
Works GREAT for me and I love SS. I never really care what the negatives are as I have found they are usually people that can't make their lines, don't work the hours they commit to or just overall do not care!
I work for an all-US company and refuse to work for one that offshores. Best of luck to you. nm

Try All Type. I do not work for them, but - sm
many of my friends do as a part time job from their hospital job. One of them has been with them for over two years, and in this business, that is quite a long time!! LOL
Work type
Discharge summaries, clinic notes, H&P, etc.  Specialties: Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Pulmonary, etc.
Yes, I am doing this same type of work (sm)

and have been doing so for a few years now.  I definitely agree with you that it can involve a lot of research at times; however, I thought he stated in his ad that there might be room for negotiation on his starting pay depending on how many years experience someone had.  I'm just interested in finding out how busy he keeps his transcriptionists.  Thanks for the feedback.  I appreciate it!

All Type - Anyone work for them currently?

All I can find are posts from 2005 and early 2006.  How are they to work for now, specifically do they have a flexible schedule?  Thanks!!

They pay by work type SM
with ops paying the highest.  I interviewed with them for a PT extra job and I thought they would be fine.  Recruiter is very nice, down to earth, and easy to talk to.
What type of work did they take you on for?
I'm going to be doing an account with high ESL, as I'm very comfortable with them. Were you clinic or acute care? I'm worrying now :( That's the reason I left my company was because they couldn't provide me with enough work for even part time.
When do you type, when there is no QA work to do? NM
NM
Did they tell you pay is by the work type with
discharges being 6 or 7 cpl. I believe the only way to make real money is typing ops and working 3rd shift because you get an extra penny for that
It's not that far off for this type of work...
I understood it to be $1.10/page which would equate to $10-15/hour if you type 60 wpm. Who's to say the page isn't double-spaced? I type 100 wpm (no expander) so that would be a pretty decent wage in this day :)
What type of work do they do?

Is this clinic or acute care work? Employee or IC? I'm interested in clinic work w/weekends free if available. I don't like the Sun-Thurs or Tues-Sat schedules... Thanks for any info!

Work PT for a company and noticed something odd. When I work the day shift I get (sm)

actually fairly good dictators, a couple of toughies, but no more than one would expect.  When I do the late afternoon/early evening shift it is like night and day.  I get some really crummy dictators and tons of problem/miscoded reports.

They have said that there is no cherry picking able to be done with this program so I just have to wonder if the crappy dictators can't get to the dictate stations until after 4 p.m. or what?

Nuff said, back to work.  Thanks for letting me air it out.

It is DEFINITELY worth it to get the work type you want. nm

Consistent work with All-Type NJ?
Anyone work for All-Type in New Jersey? Am considering them and wonder if their work flow is consistent or are there lots of dry spells? Any other information would ge helpful. Thx.
All Type - Work & Fairness

I can totally sympathize with you - if one is capable of doing the crap work that is who they give it to.  They are short-staffed in both MTs and QA, but I understand they are currently hiring .

As an aside, I would ask ,when applying for acute care, what the volume of ESL will be and what the work-types will be for the particular account for which you will be working.  I know, for a fact, you are not provided with the account information until you start training; by the way their Trainer (Carolyn) is very nice!!

Anyone currently work for All-Type? Have a question. sm
Their website says  need unlimited long distance service.  Then it says method of sending/receiving files is high speed internet.  Current employees,  which is correct?   How are you currently working - on line or over the phone lines?   Thanks.
What type of work and IC or employee? nm
nm
depends on work type
If you can do mostly ops you can fly and make a tremendous amt. If you do HP con and DS it slows you down and makes typing more lucrative.  VR makes money for the company by causing huge decrease in payroll costs but does not benefit the majority of MTs.
anyone work for Freedom Type?
TIA.   pros or cons??  Thinking about them.
Does anyone currently work for Silent Type?

I am interested in talking to someone who currently works for Silent Type and can let me know what the average number of pages they produce in a day.  I was told that it doesn't matter how many lines are on a page, you are paid for the entire page.  In some circumstances that would be pretty good, particularly if there were a lot of normals set up on the account.  I am aware of their practices, the fact that you have to go to NJ to train, etc., but I really would like to know what their transcriptionists are making versus hearing that their rates stink.  I have talked to a few people who say that they do not ever have turnover because their top transcriptionists make quite a bit of money, but I would like to speak to somebody who has been there done that.

Thanks!

I don't get any other work type after OPs. I call in to see if they
are backed up on other accounts that they need help with. I have 4 accounts and when they run out I call. I AM NOT CHERRYPICKING. I am doing what I am given!!
Does anyone work for Silent Type? (sm)
Do they have steady work, flexible schedules, benefits?  Any info will be appreciated.  TIA.
Does anyone use Vista and work at All Type?
Do you have any problems with it? I am wanting to buy a laptop with Vista and any info would be appreciated.  Thanx.
Anyone here work for Silent Type
Any good/bad info, besides the travel to NJ for training? There isn't too much in the archives about them.

Thanks.
Depends on the type of work
In my own experience, if it were psych I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. Anything else, it may not be cost efficient, but it may end up being better than what a lot having been getting lately with the MT/VR combos.
Can anyone fill me in on what type of work Amphion has?
Is it a lot of ESL, and if so how bad/good are the accounts they have?
You can go to mtjobs.com and search by work type. nm

Anyone work for Freedom Type - please e-mail me nm
nm
But don't they just help other companies with overflow type work?
It seems to me that that would make the work load very unstable.
I work for Freedom Type. They pay twice a month. It's a very sm
pleasant place to work, all clinic. I love it there.
Does Smart Type work with Docuscribe? sm
entertaining an offer and need to know about this.  Thank you.
