Sometimes takes twice as long to edit?
I just finished my first hour of VRing and I did 561 lines, that is at 4 cents a line and that equals to over $22 for that hour. I could never straight transcribe that many lines in 1 hour.
Yes, 6 cpl is low but three years is NOT a lot of experience. It takes that long to become sm
semi-proficient and we look for at least 5 years because of that. I would not go higher than 7 cpl with only three years experience and I think this is starting to be the norm.
Think of other fields ... plumbing apprentices, electrician apprentices, printing apprentices, etc. It takes 5 years to be a journeyman. They start at $8.00/hour and move to cap which is around $30/hour but it takes 10 years to get there.
Even teachers ... it takes 5-10 years to get top pay.

When I worked with them, the insurance was very expensive and not very good. They have promised to get better, but that has been going on for a long, long time.

Takes a lot of time to hear back
I was job hunting in July and had the same experience, no responses. It took weeks to start hearing back, then the responses started coming in. I even got some responses 2 or 3 months after applying. It just seems to take a long time right now. You have to be very patient.

I've submitted my resume for their QA position, and I haven't heard anything back yet. I was wondering if this could be due to the convention in Boston, or is this just the new trend in the application process? I've also submitted my resume to other companies, and there have been quite a few who haven't given even a short reply.
I know it's not because of a lack of experience, because I've been doing MT for over 15 years and QA for over 5. Any ideas of a great place to send my resume?

Good info. In late 1980's I typed for 4 cents a line (sm)
and made over 35,000 a year, which back then was pretty darned good. I had a couple of really hard accounts I did and when the really cheesecake ER accounts that had repetitive dictators came along, they always sent a tape or 2 of that my way as kind of a payback for doing the hard stuff.
That 4 cents a line is unbelievable now, but back then and the area I was in that was the going rate and I worked less than 40 hours a week to make that 35k.
Recently tested for MxSecure and just wondering if anyone can tell me how long it usually takes (sm)

How long to get MQ line count up...
I was hired several weeks ago but ended up waiting about two weeks after sending in my contract to even start (their doing not mine). My training period ended today. I've only been working two weeks but according to the contract should've been working four weeks already. Are they going to expect me to hit my line count this early on when I started later than expected? I seem to be getting some of the same awful dictators over and over again on top of this being my first time in acute care. I honestly don't think I'll be able to reach my line count next pay period because I only got halfway there this pay period. Thoughts?
