and am not sure you got it, but my basic question was that the jobs I am being offered are about 8 cents or 9 cents VBC as an IC or employee. After 30 years in MTing I hate to take such a paycut, but I don't want to be turning down jobs if that is the best I can hope for! I just wanted to let you know that I did reply to their email.
I basically said that I found it very unprofessional to not even put the name of the company in the email. I also told them that 6.5 cpl is a very low rate and I could not live on that and feed my child. I told them that with the amount of experience I have, that was an insult. I also let them have it about not paying for spaces. I was professional in my email, but I believe I made them understand that they are barking up the wrong tree and that their payment practices are an insult to all MTs.
I wanted to tell person who contacted me via email
that I absolutely do nothing to achieve more lines (money) than just keeping (as much as possible) the audio at fast a speed as I can and also I use my mouse when working. Supposedly you are supposed to be able to edit faster using combination keys but I did not learn, did not care to learn and mostly can keep up with the dictation (either VR or straight) as it goes so I just do not think I could make more even using the combo keys. I also do not give out where I work because to do so would probably be a swamping of the company and I would prefer to keep my job to myself as long as I could.

As far as I know this is still the USA and you do have the right to freedom of speech. No one can make you feel any way. You can choose to feel victorious and strong for having spoken your mind. You did a very courageous thing to speak your truth and I for one support you. You are a brave and ethical woman. I see no bravery or ethics on the part of Heartland. Or maybe we should rename them HeartLESS?

Yes they are in the same area you mentioned. If you have been with a national in the past, this is different as everything has to come directly from the hospital and if they take extra time, there isn't a lot KS can do..I'd suggest contacting (can't say names here) but the director of client services, she is great!, and if there is anything that can be done to speed up the process, she'll find a way. By the way, I LOVE this account when its working! Good luck! sincerely,

Digital Dictation Services - MARY GLEASON, Stiff on Payment, BEWARE
This is a sole proprietor, who will let you try out for a couple weeks, and then stiff on payment. She is all nicey nice in the beginning but look out, she will rip you off big time. Do not work for unless you like working for nothing.
P&G forced my sister to stop selling Mary Kay in her spare time...gotta SM!
This was years ago way before P&G even owned Revlon. It's not like my sister wore a white coat and created cosmetic formulas. She was a RECEPTIONIST!!! The Suits at P&G told her to make a choice because they didn't need an employee working for the competition...Give me a break!
BTW, the ONLY reason my sister even sold the MK was so she could get it 1/2 price.

Not these days. Many MTs are also MTSOs, so I wouldn't count on PRIVACY wherever you intend to go with this. As both, I would be willing to share what I know with my colleagues if I felt it was to their benefit. Multiply me by many and there goes your site of shame. Good luck to you too! Hope you can CYA sufficiently to avoid problems for yourself. You should be nicer to these MTs. They help pay your salary. Maybe MTs should do away with recruiters? Too many middlemen drive up the price and the providers would benefit from the absence of all the middlemen in all areas that try to get a piece of the action in their practices. Maybe without you all it would benefit the greater good. Something to think about, eh?

My husband is trying to change careers so I went looking for a new MT job instead of being an IC since his new career takes 6 months for the insurance to kick in. We are going to check all our options but I believe we will go private instead of spending nearly $1000 a month on it
You can get a private policy for less than that and probably
better insurance too. At that price I don't think they are absorbing any of the cost, so it really isn't a benefit.

Why not just get a private policy? Unless you have
pre-existing conditions you can get your own policy that may be cheaper than what you can get through work and then you aren't tied to a company for insurance only and you don't have to worry about a lap in insurance if you change jobs.

I'm an IC and have private Humana coverage
It's $99.05/month for just me. This includes $35 copay for dr visits ($50 specialist visits), $1535/55 Rx, depending on what level the medication is, $75 copay for ER visit. It's a PPO. The only really bad thing is that there is a $2000 deductible, but that's only if I have to be in the hospital and hopefully that won't happen. I'm 29, have never had a lapse in insurance and have no health problems though. You can go to ehealthinsurance.com and compare rates for private insurance if you're interested.

I do have private counsel because I own a business. However, it is not at all necessary to use a lawyer for something like this. All she has to do is to to the IRS website, read the information about IC classification, and call the local office for an appointment. She should bring a copy of her contract (if any) with the company and just tell them what is happening. The IRS is pretty savvy and will likely take it from there. Many MTs feel powerless. There is really a lot we can do for ourselves. Many MTSOs will take advantage. (There are also many, many good ones as well.) My bottom line is that I myself would have my attorney or CPA make the call; but an attorney is not necessary for this. All it would take would be one report and the IRS would be on that MTSO like white on rice.

There was a MT that was venting in regards to Transend on their private board sm
(it is automatically set up so if you enter you know who is posting . . name displayed)and the other employees and management was nasty as h++ so believe me I wouldn't post any thing on the private board negative. I have already resigned. I have a week left.
