I think the template info should be included

My reasoning is that I believe part of the reason line counts are dropping is, due to automation with computers, expanders, etc., MTs are able to produce greater lines in less time than they were able to produce on typewriters. JMO (but I really don't think it's JMO, I think it's a fact).

Most of us do not have much template work.
So, in other words, work is mostly template work, not straight typing. That explains it all. No wonder. :)

template lines
I just recently gave notice to a company I really liked because of that. Sure, I have 1,000 lines but when half of those are at 3 cpl it is just not worth it. What irks me is that is still takes time (and time is money in our business) to download the templates, change what the doctor wants, insert things, etc. and then I get a lousy 3 cpl for it? When I started with them it was not like that and I can see a real difference in my paycheck with the change. I will miss the work but can't live on that pay.
Does anyone know what template lines mean?
Thanks!
I probably should have included the hospital...
...in the addressees. My point was that this penny-wise-pound-foolish approach to cost cutting is creating a monster, whether it's the client hospital or the MTSO making the decision to go VR. (I've never gotten through my skull how it's more cost-effective to send work offshore, that needs to be completely reconstructed by QA here.) I guess that once you have developed the software and installed the system VR works for free and cheaper editing labor would cost much less than having it transcribed by an MT in the first place. But at what additional cost? These reports end up in court as part of law suits. You would think a hospital would prefer to get it right rather than cheap, wouldn't you? But aren't these the same hospitals that cut nursing staff, then work the remaining nurses into the ground because overtime is cheaper than paying benefits for more employees? Maybe we just have to face that, like the buggy whip makers a century ago, our skills are no longer required.
Spaces included
I have been with Fast Chart over 2 years. They DO pay for spaces and the paperwork confirms it. They also compensate for headers. The Radiology and Acute Care pays the most, 9 cents I think. Most importantly they have work.
yes, you are paid for template insertions
for the nit-picky stuff, huh?
Template/normal Question
Has anyone ever worked IC for a company who didn't pay any of the template characters? For example, I have many templates that are full of normals (which we have to go through and change around to suit what the doctor is saying - or we have to insert information here and there), but we are not paid for the normals.
Needless to say, this actually slows us down a great deal and keeps our line rates much lower than it would be if there weren't normals in there.
I hadn't ever worked for a company that didn't pay for this, so I was wondering if this is typical outside of my limited experience.
Any insight?
How does a company know if you are using a template you made yourself?
I don't think they can, can they? If the doc dictates an appendectomy and I have the procedure in my Expander and pop it in, how does the company know that?
Shorthand is included in their software, and yes you can sm
use the internet -- you have to be connected in order to do the work.
Hope this helps.
In my experience, the only deduction is for keystrokes already in the template.
That is how I am paid - only for the Keystrokes I actually make.
I found a template while randomly googling - sm
While I was researching Meditech I came across a website for a company, I don't remember which one, that used it and had a template with the F keys on it. I think it was for Magic. Good luck.
My account doesn't have a template, I created my
own. The header/demographics is manually entered, though I have a template that has all the required information and I just fill in the blanks. I DO get paid for that information.
I once had a group practice client, which included ...sm
6 physicians. The most irritating one was the doc from India who had been in the U.S. for at least 15 years (I know this because I went to school with his children), and refused to even work on losing at least a small part of his accent. He was so ridiculous, and each time I typed his work, I said to myself I swear this guy purposely works at keeping his thick accent just to irritate me! Interestingly, 2 of his partners in the practice were ESL (had only been in the U.S. for 1-2 years), and their accent was much less severe. These were younger docs, who in my opinion, made an effort to get with the program if they want to practice medicine here! I do believe that people can actually make themselves hold onto their accents. I have a friend who is from the south (She has lived near me in the SE part of the country for 20 years) and she continues to have a strong southern accent. She has not lived in the south since she was a small child. I tease her about it.
I don't have a life insurance deduction .. $10,000 is included sm
in my health insurance premium, and since I am single, that is enough for me.
It would be nice if when looking for a new job that the line rate be included
I know I personally have applied to jobs only to find out in the interview that the line rate is ridiculous.
Yes they do; 65-character line, spaces included NM
ANY federal money - included Medicare and almost
I could be wrong, but I read it to mean ANY federal money which includes Medicare/Medicaid, and there are probably not too many hospitals, clinics, or private doctor's offices that do not have at least 1 Medicare/Medicaid patient. Seems to me they would not be too worried about all the listed countries for off-shoring if it was only VA, since there was already a big stink about off-shoring VA records. But then, as I said, I could be reading it wrong. I guess only time will tell.
Transtech pays for all the headings in the report template, such as those in your example, and they
all the demographic stuff that is inserted into the header and/or footer of your report. A heading and not the same thing as a header. The only thing on a report that you are not paid for is the hard-coded header and/or footer at the top and bottom of the document that has the facility name and the spot for the patient information to be inserted.
They told me their cpl included spaces at hire but when I got the first check
My paycheck was 10% less than I billed, and when I told them I didn't get paid what I invoiced, they said they never pay for spaces and never have and never SAID they did ..... Liars. I had to stick with them after that because it was my only job at the time (but I definitely started looking for another company after that). THEN another time, their payroll girl went on vacation & they said we wouldn't get paid until she got BACK, about 10 days AFTER scheduled pay date!! Paychecks were occasionally late, also. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Ever.
PS - pay based on 65-char line, SPACES INCLUDED. SM
Also paid for weekend work, 2nd and 3rd shift differential. Bonus plan based on production.
Word-based, expander included, easy to use...NM
NM
'Nother poster also wondering if spaces are included in that line pay?? nm

When I worked in-house, we were part of the SEIU, but that included even nurses. SM
After I had quit, I heard they decided to go with the UAW.
If you have horrible platform, do not get paid for headers, footers, template data, etc.,
even though it might take 3 or 4 minutes or longer to edit that stuff, you are going to take a big pay cut. This program was designed by idiots.
Spheris Canada...Applied on line per instructions but problems with template...
After completing page 1 it flips to page 2 and asks you for to choose a State...obviously I'm in Canada (for which page 1 had that option). I am hoping this did not screw up my application.
I am very experienced so I am sure they would contact me...Checked out their web site and there is only a general inq # to call.
Is anyone working with the Canada (Ontario) Division...is it all through US head office....any insight ?
It means characters that are printed in black and white - no spaces included. nm

Any recent info on MedTrans Unlimited? newest archived info is 9 months old... m
Has anything changed in 9 months? Particular worries are the invoice/pay time; one post mentioned 2 to 3 week wait and another post stated 1 week. Info from the company states pay is sent out 10 days after the last day of the billing period, but we all know what is said and what is done isn't always the same. Another concern is the platform; some mentioned it was slow and cumbersome. They have 2 platforms from what I can gather.. Are they both slow? It seemed like certain specialties were done on certain platforms, or at least that is what I got out of the archives. I really hate to jump from the frying pan to the fire so any info would be VERY much appreciated.. the good, bad, and the ugly! TIA!!
Any Axolotl employees willing to share info., platform, ESL %, etc. All info greatly appreciated. sm
Along with the platform, ESL %, pay range, lpd required, split shift or 12-24 hour window available, I would be interested in knowing your personal experience with this company, what type of relationship you have with supervisors and other coworkers, etc. Otherwise, the all the 411.
Thanks!
Current info on Diskriter?? Past info was very mixed. Either MTs hated it or liked it, does anyone
love working there and why? Do you easily meet your incentive pay or as past people have said, the ESL are so bad that you never meet the line count. I need current and new information. Isnt there a company out there that has a handful of happy employees or does all of them have both the haters and lovers. It is so hard to sort out fact from fiction sometimes and all of us have different expectations. It kind of goes along with the one man's junk is another man's treasures theory, I suppose.
Any new info on Amphion? Archive search doesn't provide new info (sm)

Any info is appreciated.
Sorry, but I want info, lots of info...

Would you like fries with that, Sir? Welcome to WalMart! How'm I doing so far? Do I sound sincere yet? (At least these two companies are, and always will be, USA-based.)
I'd like some info as well.
TIA
Would like info
Please send me some info too. orangeblossom@charter.net
I would appreciate info also.
I am from Chicago office and have heard nothing about this. Thanks
Does anyone have any info on...
Digital Transcription, Inc. I am looking into a part-time job and need to know how this company is to work for. Thanks.
Here's some info...
I asked the same question a couple days ago and got some VERY VERY negative responses. I actually told the recruiter that they had a negative reputation on these boards and she seemed flabergasted. I needed an employee position and they hire only IC. Pay is 9 cents/65 char line with spaces. They have 2 hospital accounts they are hiring for; one they will send you a computer and you will use their requipment. The other requires purchase of a C-phone. They are standard 4 hospital. You must commit to a minimum line count (1000 lines per day). No benefits. Direct deposit twice a month.
I was not impressed and was glad when i discovered they were only looking for IC.
Hope this helps.
Anyone have info on All-Med?nm

Any info on OSI....
Good or bad, platform, etc. Thanks
Info on SS
They are a very good company to work for. I have been with them as an Editor for 7 months. Pay is very good. Unfortunately I don't believe they pay for spaces, but a lot of companies do not anymore, so therefore, you would have to decide if that is acceptable to you or not. You can get a very flexible work schedule. The only thing they ask is that you work when you are scheduled. For a while, there was a lot of emails being sent out, but that has significantly decreased since certain people are gone now. Every company has its ups and downs as we can read on these boards every day. SoftScript is not perfect, but they are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be either.
Anyone have any info on
A search of the archives produced very little information, but I have seen them advertising several times.
Thanks for the info

Any info on E-MTS?

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as a "slow time" when typing IMEs?
TIA!
thanks for this info . .
even tho' I'm not the person who originally asked. I've also been looking for ways to submit writings, but didn't know who was on the up-and-up (should be hypenated, right?) on the net. This helps.
Thanks for the info!
Info
I recently applied to Spheris and they allow 1/8 hr block, 2/4 hr blocks, or a 12 hr block that you can work your eight hours within.
