You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
I've worked there several years, and have never had a late paycheck nm
nm
yeah - got my paycheck 4 days early
nm
x-press - it's not all that great - heard they are paying late these days also

Transtech almost qualifies for all of these
1. Ensure there will be sufficient work available. If an MTSO does not enough work you will not make enough income.

TT is sometimes a little dry but usually fine.

2. Ensure the MTSO offers IC/1099, IC/W2 and Employee/W2 wage options.

Yes for TT.

3. Make sure you are trained and allowed to work on multiple accounts.

Yes for multiple accounts. No for training. Transtech does not train you whatsoever on accounts. You are required to teach yourself by reading the account notes. That is the worst part of working for Transtech. All they do is teach you to use Extext and then you are on your own.

4. Make sure your scheduling and shifts are properly established.

Yes, Transtech is the best.

5. During the interview and test period find out details about the platforms. Do not accept a position if you believe the platforms is difficult avoid excepting the position.

Extext platform, great one.

6. Production count should be simple AAMT 65 character lines including spaces and control characters. All other methods will reduce your earnings.

Yes for TT.

Avoid the following:

1. Experience of others may not apply to you. Negative posts on forums about any MTSO represents less than 5% MTSO staff. This means 95% of others are happily working. Make your own decision.

Okay.

2. Do not evaluate an MTSO if they off shore. As long as you have sufficient work off shoring should not matter to you.

Transtech does not offshore.

3. Do not go for MTSO who may offer bonus or benefits or other goodies if the work load is less than consistent, you will not earn enough.

TT usually has plenty of work and you can get backup accounts.
Before someone hops on and say "why are you living paycheck to paycheck (inside)
I had a great saving account this time last year when the company I had been with 2 years took me off my primary (never would tell me why, just said me being shut out was a glitch in the hospital's system) floated me around (not telling me anything of course) because they were getting a Meditech account and wanted me on it (you wouldn't put someone not very experienced on it would you?). It did not take a rocket scientist to realize as soon as I got the C-phone what had happened. Also 80% ESLs. I spent the whole year supplementing my salary until it was gone and have been trying to find a decent company since. That is why I am living paycheck to paycheck and I hate it. I have 20 years in this business and it is getting worse. Speech is great but not for the money. It just does not justify being paid half. You cannot retrain doctors and I don't think management telling them they need to be considerate to us is going to work. Telling them we are making half just does not move them. They still rumble through files, change sentences, have long pauses we are not paid for, speech leaves out words or sentences so tell me why we are paid half? Also, I usually seach a company before I come on and ask for opinions, it saves a lot of space. I know I sound grouchy but I am tired and scared.
I'm just SO tired of living from paycheck to paycheck, and always (nm)
.
Personally, I live paycheck to paycheck because...
I enjoy the constant worry about how to pay my bills and always getting to say I have some lines to make up so I won't be there. Social lives are overrated. I like getting up at 3:00 a.m. and jumping online so I can wrestle a few more jobs out of the system. I don't mind hearing that my supervisor is on vacation again because I know I will be able to use my PTO to make up for my downtime. It's kind of the same thing. I think Ramen noodles aren't just for college students, and one pair of jeans is all you really need for 3 years. I believe very strongly that all the recruiters and managers in the transcription business are taking wage cuts every year, too, so I don't want to feel like I am asking for more than my share.

Living paycheck to paycheck...it's my right darn it.

That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
Too little, too late? It is never too late. I am one person, true, but together

Let me tell what this ONE person achieved on her own and then you can imagine what many of us can do if we stand together.

Two years ago, I was working as an MT for a local hospital.  One day, we were told that our overflow was going to be outsourced to one of the nationals, just the discharge summaries and not even all of those.  Two months after they told us that lie, they called is in one by one and fired us because they were outsourcing the entire dept because it was cost effective.  The service they were using was a very large national who I happened to know had a reputation of offshoring.  And I just knew because our little hospital had easy as pie dictators with maybe 4 out of a staff of 200 that were ESL, our work would most definitely be one of the accounts offshored.

I was angry!  Oh, they offered us jobs at the service and told us we would definitely be working on our hospital, but I'm no fool and I knew it would be a matter of time before we were forced to take secondary accounts which would eventually become our primary accounts and our little hospital would just disappear from our queues.

I refused the job with the service on moral grounds.  I refused to work for a company that offshored.  And then I decided to channel my anger and outrage into something proactive.  I wrote letters to every newspaper in my area.  Every small farming community newspaper this hospital served, and the big city newspaper in the big city close by.  I never dreamed that anyone would pay attention at one woman's rantings.  But a funny thing happened.  My letter was printed in more than one of the papers I sent it to, and reporter from one of the larger newspapers called me and asked if I would do an interview.  I said absolutely.

Long story short, they did the interview and then interviewed the administrator of the hospital.  They put him in the hot seat and asked him about offshoring health information to India.  He had no definitive answers to give except that he would have to look at the contract and make sure that it was stipulated that his hospital's work was not sent over seas.

It was a small triumph, but I took some satisfaction in it.  Two weeks after that and just when I thought all the hoopla had died on my little letter, another letter appeared in the newspaper -- from an HIM director at another local hospital who said as a result of reading my letter and interview, that she had received a number of calls from concerned people asking if their medical information was being sent and transcribed overseas.  She wanted to write the letter just to set the record straight that her hospital employed their own MTs and did not outsource to a service nor did they offshore any of their work to third-world countries.

And I'm still not done.  Still a few weeks later another letter in the big city paper was printed from another HIM director assuring the community that her hospital employed its own American MTs and did not outsource or offshore.

Now, everything has quieted down since then, but I managed to ruffle some feathers and make a point, and if I (one person, one middle-aged work-at-home mother of two) can cause that much ruckus -- think what a whole bunch of us can do.

I think we, as a group, need to take control of our industry and our career destiny and do something.  Maybe march on Washington DC protesting the offshoring of American jobs -- not just ours, but ALL American jobs that are being offshored.  There are more Americans out of work and losing work to third-world countries and corporate greed than just MTs!  Our government needs to hear our voices!  We need to MAKE ourselves be heard!

Instead of sitting back and pasting little smiley faces in our posts and saying good luck with that we need to come together.  There is no room for MTs willing to accept lower wages, no room for MTs whose hearts bleed for our third-world counterparts, and no room for MTs who want to sit back and do nothing, but reap the benefits when the strong win the battle.  We've reached a critical turning point and it's time to take up the cause and change the future.

Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm
x
Would that be 5 business days or 5 regular days?
So when are we going to be paid this time around since you're so knowledgable?

Sorry, but for some of us a day or 2 actually makes a difference.
Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm

It is true. Any job has its good days and bad days.
Perhaps you'd like to just keep your old job and try this one out. Just because a poster here is crabbing about it, or even if as in the past there have been negative posts, odds are that there are very happy people who don't even post or know that this board exists. As Alice says. Everything is relative. The fact that this company is hiring and pays may be a place which is a blessing. As opposed to digging ditches on day labor for example. Or somebody might prefer digging ditches. This is just an example. Sometimes we who are employable, even though we don't make as much as we used to in this business, or as much as we would like to, we still if working at home do not pay for gas to go to work, career clothes, deal with office politics, have to look at a boss who writes us up if we are a minute late, etcetera. I don't make half as much as I used to, but I don't send my 3 children to day care which by the way saves us money. SO I remind my husband I am worth that in addition to my salary if I had a job outside. No job is perfect. I am not even sure if Focus is any good or not, I have not worked there. But if one poster says there are good days and bad, I say that is the most honest answer you are going to get anywhere, and if you need a job badly, how is it to hurt trying it out, until you know for sure for yourself? THanks for listening. But sometimes this board gets to be a bit much with the agendas of people railing on other people like the OP here who just wanted all opinions instead of just one side. Balance is always great. And, if things seem lop-sided, then it is a good thing to seek out both sides. IMHO.
I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.

no paycheck
yet since I started end of June. Great =(
A paycheck
I thought I wanted a career in medical transcription... now it turns out I just wanted a paycheck.
i'd just like to get my PAYCHECK
x
Did you get your paycheck?sm
I work there now and afraid to quit because I am worried I will not get pay due me. My pay is always late in and incorrect too.
paycheck
Anyone have experience with first paycheck bouncing? radmt
paycheck
e-mail me and I'll give you the details.
For just the 1st paycheck or all of them?
After the first check, do they usually come about every 2 weeks then?
Last paycheck with OSI
Did you receive your last paycheck on time? I have not received my last paycheck (2 days late so far) after quitting with them.
My first paycheck
was delayed 6 weeks - I later found out this was done on purpose because I was new Garbage! This caused me really big problems with cash flow. They may be better managed now, but my experience was poor.
KS - First paycheck (sm)
I checked my bank balance early this a.m. and no check posted from KS yet. (My first one).  When do they normally get posted and how do you see your check stub?  Is it mailed to you?  Thanks!
paycheck
Mine was in my bank on Saturday like it always is.
Or what does it do to the MT's paycheck?..SM
This is literal abuse.  They are taking food out of the mouth of the MT.  She/he is either qualified or not.  This does not happen in hospitals or working for a private MT.  You take a pre-employment test, either make it or not, then do your work.  This 100% QA...released from QA... is industry-specific to the home-MT and MTSOs don't care if the MT is held back in productivity.
paycheck
I work as an IC as well and I usually have to wait a week or more for my check.. end of pay period on the 10th doesn't arrive until 10 days later.  How about some STAT TAT for paychecks?  How would they feel if we treated their dictation the same way?
Paycheck
They mail the check on Thursday and I get mine Friday or Saturday, like clockwork. I don't make enough to get DD. They offer overnight shipping for a fee, but it is not necessary with the prompt mail delivery in my area.
looking at my paycheck...
I work at a hospital and am paid hourly.

$24.79 base rate + $1.25 per hour shift differential = $26.04 per hour. I had 2 hours of OT totaling $80.37.

Total gross earnings (taxes, insurance not taken out) = $2203.57

We get paid every 2 weeks, on Friday. It works out so that there are 2 months per year where we get 3 paychecks.
I worked for 2 wks and when paycheck was not there
I did not more work until I got check, which did not happen until 3 months later. I hear it is still the same. The people were great in the office but to have to go through what you do in order to be paid, that is ridiculous. I found the account I did to be pretty good. It was out there in the valley near LA and I would have loved to continue working for them, but when I am new with someone, I will not go on a limb and continue working if the pay does not happen. There were always excuses by them as to why they did not pay and all were unwritten rules. Again, I did get paid but waiting for 3 months was a bit much. I don't like to be a day late much less that far down the road. A year later they called me and asked if I would come back and I said no. lol
When to expect first paycheck?
For those you have undergoine training at Medware, I am just wondering when should I expect my first paycheck?  I have been in training with Medware for almost 4 weeks now. Thanks
You WHAT???? That's your paycheck. You should figure it out on your own. sm
Do they hold your hand all day too?
To A Paycheck Would Be Nice, please see msg

I think this lady (Karen Kirby I think her name is) is on the up and up.  Don't ask me why but I do.  I think she is in a bind.  I may be completely wrong about it.

A C-phone is a phone/headset/pedal that is used to dial into a system and transcribe.  I have seen them on the boards here for about $200.  New they would be much much more.  If you are interested and could do the work, why not ask her if she could provide you one.

If you look at the posts from last night, late, she and I had a discussion of sorts about her work.  She started the post under the Execuscribe (sp?) post and I responded.  This was on the company board.

I was thinking of contacting her to offer my services on a temporary basis (she has a backlog of 500 reports by an ESL, from my understanding of it).  I hesitate because I already have two services I work for as an IC and they both pay me very well.  But I may contact her anyway and see what she has to say.  17 cpl is nothing to sneeze at - ESPECIALLY in this day and age.  Granted, it is without spaces, but STILL is a lot of $$$$$$.

Please post back if you contact her.  I would be interested to find out how it went.

Have a good and productive day!

And you won't get your first paycheck for about a month. sm
Otherwise, it is a great company -- easy work, pay is 11 cpl.

Good luck!

$250-$300 gets deducted every paycheck for 2
depends what you consider affordable
still waiting on my paycheck
this company is a joke
No one "provides" a paycheck
Following this thread, I just have to comment that I have never thought of an employer as a provider, but more as a person or company I have agreed to perform a service for in return for money.
I had to pay $300 deposit, they take $50 out of each paycheck, sm
it is supposed to be refundable
Go off of your last paycheck stub

If you are so anxious to do your taxes, go off of your last paycheck stub,  also electronically don't need to send in W2.

Is that per paycheck or per month? nm

Cashing my paycheck . . .

One man's coal is another man's diamond!  I have worked hard to be able to transcribe all different types of work that some consider crap work; ESL doctors, docs that talk the speed of light, docs that chew gum while dictating, docs who string lots and lots of dictations together into 1 document, and docs who just plain take patience to get to know and learn.  I have learned that this has served me well.  While others are waiting for the good work to come through, cherry-picking what they consider to be the best, I am typing happily and cashing my check in the bank.

I love Transcend.  I'm a lifer!  No complaints out of me.  If you want success . . . you have to work for it.  It feels much better when you put in the effort!

I work for a paycheck, not because I don't have

anything better to do.   I went to work for a company that overhires when they get a new account because they figure some people may leave or they may fire some, etc.  Anyway I tried to be patient and give it time for things to settle down, but  was having to dip into savings every month to pay bills.  I was willing to work, was available for my shift, was willing to adjust my schedule to some degree, was willing to work my days off, holidays, etc. and there was still no work.

If you have bills to pay, kids to feed, you need the lines.  If they company requires you to work FT, you expect FT lines.   The company requires you to commit to a schedule and I don't think it unreasonable to expect work during that time frame.  You can't just rearrange your life around work availability.  If you have kids you have responsibilities to them, people still have to eat, clothes have to be washed, doctor's appointments, etc.

NO PAYCHECK FROM JLG TODAY EITHER . . . sm
What a joke.  If there is anyone out there who believes there WILL be a paycheck, I have a bridge to sell you.  I was told some companies work ahead, we work behind, okay so what if us MTs did that?????  I will believe the paycheck when I see it.  Mad, mad, mad
GOT MY JLG PAYCHECK TODAY . . .nm
nm
You should have to pay to get your paycheck. I have yet to hear
of another company stop DD because of the banking situation.  It is business as usual, the name may just have changed, so that excuse wouldn't cut it with me.  Maybe some people don't have an extra $40/month to spare and if their mortgage is due on a certain date they need payment on a cetain date to meet their obligation.  Fortunately our money situation isn't so tight that a day or two isn't going to make a difference in getting my check, but I still want to know what day I can expect it and for it to take 3 days one time and 5 the next is not acceptable.
I am going to thank my bosses for my paycheck sm
I work for TT and another, PT IC job so I am not totally sunk with taxes. One way and another, I have managed to put the 2 schedules together and survive, both my energy and my time. TT is sending out a thank you gift check. My other boss called this morning to ask if I had gotten my card because I had not thanked her for it, and she gave me credit for having the good manners to say thank you. No, I have not been to the post office to pick up my mail, but today for sure.

I told her she didn't have to do that, but that I really appreciate it. She said that THEY appreciate ME, and this was a pleasure to do for me. WOW.

I really, truly feel that this has been the best year of my MT career. I have cleared $40K and I have not worked myself sick as I have in the past. I have been able to pay every single bill and on time. I could have asked for TT to pay part of my internet, but I have not bothered because of the IC situation and my taxes. I have benefits through them and the security of knowing that if my appendix were to rupture, or my gallbladder go gangrenous, I am covered for that whereas I used to worry a lot. I have eaten anything I wanted to all year, plenty of good, fresh vegetables that have kept my energy up and my weight down. I have had new items of clothing, but my tastes are not for high-priced things.

I sit here today in a warm house when it is below zero outside. My hands have typed for that. I have warm, newer clothing including some new heavy socks for my ever cold feet. My hands have typed for that. My frig is reasonably well stocked and my pantry is full. My hands have typed for that. The dog's cookie jar is full of treats and she is a happy little thing. My hands have typed for that. I was able to be generous with children this Christmas and with a dear friend in need. My hands have typed for that.

I count myself very very blessed. I am busy with MT and QA work, and keeping my house by myself, which was an adjustment after my wonderful daughter left for college. I am busy with a handful of wonderful, loving and caring friends. I am so busy (and frankly happy) to sit and complain about what I don't have.

I know that many of us are going through some very hard times. We are not different from other industries in that way. I look at some of you talk about eating out for entire weekends, or buying expensive gifts for your families at Christmas. I listen to complaints about the price of food and whining about the price of Triscuits, when that isn't food. I wonder where your heads are at. I wonder what your priorities are. I wonder why more people don't have an attitude of gratitude. I had to find that attitude and keep a firm grip on it. Guess what? I had more and more to be grateful for!

Yes, you can be grateful for your paycheck.
If your job is so boring then quit and see how quickly you wish you had it back. Boring or not, it can pay the bills. I'm sure there are 10 people waiting to take your boring job.
