That's a hospital-based platform and anyone who works on that is more inclined to have issues. Whatever your platform problems, they are not company-wide, that's for sure.

I didn't view it as a forum to complain. I saw it more as a chance to get to know sm
others who work for the same company. Working at home can feel kind of isolating at times. I do not miss the commute to work, scraping ice off of my car in the winter, backstabbing, gossip, etc., but I sometimes do miss the social aspects of working in an office. I guess my viewpoint is, things are what you make them to be.
I love Transtech and have been a cheerleader for a long time, even to the point of being accused of being management. They have stuck with me through some bad times on my end, and I have no intention of dumping them through these bad times now, although I have gotten a couple of other jobs. With the holidays coming up, especially, it may take all 3 to make ends meet and maybe have a few extras, but that is just part of life.
Radnet - Is there an expander compatible with Radnet?
Just got a job. I have Instant Text which RadNet is not compatible with. MS Word is not able to be used either.
I am told that we are not allowed to C&P into the document.
Typing every word out seems to me to be out of the question if I am paid on production (8 cpl w/spaces and no benefits) as I have quota to meet and this is radiology (redundant sentences used often).
Wish I would have been told this initially...

i tested. first email from them stated i passed their radiology tests, and they would contact me during the next recruitment. two weeks later, i received an email with attachments to download. these included pay scale of 7 cpl WITHOUT spaces, manual or templated headings, and i had 24 hours to accept or decline their offer. I sent them an email obviously declining.
I didn't get mine yet. does it come sm
UPS or regular mail. They asked me when I filled out my employment papers 3 weeks ago what size I wanted because they were sending it. I wonder when it will come?

This is the part that is so unsettling for me too. And the fact that the human resource/payroll person doesn't even know what is going on and the fact they will not let her know what is going on is what is unsettling for me. If they would just come right out and let us know what the heck is going on, then I would be a little more at ease. But, no one is saying ANYTHING. However, supposedly the money is there.......

That is too funny - if I didn't think someday one of those reports might not be mine!
Maybe we should all band together and just shoot those VR reports straight through - JUST FOR ONE SHIFT - take our money and see what happens. Guess we could find out if there is any QA in place and if the MTSO gets any feedback from the hospital. It might be a lesson for the MTSO to learn. I spend lots and lots of time - follow word by word - in my VR jobs but the pay just is not there doing VR that way. I do see bad reports in my search of what other MTs turn in and it is really scary. BUT - bet they make more than I do at the end of the day. When will the hospitals and the MTSOs figure this out???? and pay us more for quality than quantity.

I have been with Transcend for almost 6 years and while they are not a perfect company they are better than most. There have been mergers in the past-I actually came from the other MDI (which was a much more laid back company). As far as I've seen with past mergers you get to keep your work. They don't take you off it and give it to someone else. That makes no sense to have to train new MTs for your accts and you on something else. I know you are unhappy that you have to make a change but give Transcend a chance. They are a good company. Is it a good fit for everyone? No, but you won't know until you give it a chance with an open mind. And before the bashers get on and say I am management, I am not, just another in the trenches MT who has worked for other services in the past. As far as outsourcing, I know it is done but as far as I can tell it is not a lot. I work on 2 different platforms and both have plenty of work and have had for quite a while now.

I ended up having to go with theirs, but they at least attempted, and they overnighted me one that would work. The pedal is plug and play basically. I no longer work for them, but they even make it easy to send it back if you leave.

That is not true on all accounts. Mine is always out of TAT with plenty of work.
The teaching hospital accounts are pretty busy all the time. Ask to be put on one.
The hospitals that I have worked at and the ones that friends of mine work for sm
all have a two week delay between the last day of the pay period and the payday. Same exact lenght - ends on the 30th, pays on the 15th.
I am not trying to argue, but I don't understand what you find wrong with this. The companies (all of them) need time to bill their clients and to process payroll. Some of the smaller ones probably have to wait to get paid too.
I work for KS and get paid on time every two weeks. The consistency is important to me as a single parent. I tried working for a small company but found that they had to wait to get paid and unfortunately, GMAC would not wait for me to wait to get paid. Going to a national like KS solved that problem and I can count on getting paid on the 1st and 15th of each month.

The ESL were AWFUL.. It was all I got and I could not understand anything they said. They were out of California so had a real mixed bag of ESL but none of it was doable. Things could have changed, who knows.

RadNet looks complicated, but it really is a pretty simple program and you will catch on by the end of your first day of training. I found it to be better than most programs I have learned. Don't worry, not as complicated as you think. Good Luck.

I average 20-25 reports an hour on Radnet. It is fast, so there is no hang time like in Meditech or ChartScript. It is easy to learn and easy to use. I love it!

The company I work for has just switched over the RadNet for radiology TX. I can't get a straight answer out of the software company (Cerner), so am hoping someone out there can give me an answer. #1 - there is no shortcut program! I can't get Cerner to tell me which, if any, shortcut programs might work with it; the several I have tried only seem to work with word processing programs. #2 - they tell me that for some reason it's okay to cut and paste from Notepad (where I can use a shortcut program), but not from Word, that it may not count my characters appropriately. Anybody know about any of this? Ideally, I'd like to be able to use shortcuts AND count my lines from within the application, or at least from within one application that I can cut and paste from! I'm really discouraged by this software ... it is slowing me down tremendously.

With RadNet, it has a shortcut program associated with it by hitting F9 which will bring up your phrase and insert.

Cerner told me that cutting and pasting from Word could cause 'formatting' issues which may affect productivity statistics. I find that kind of hard to believe, because they said it would be okay to cut and paste from Notepad! I think it's a very user-unfriendly program, but am going to keep searching for a shortcut program, or perhaps just try cutting and pasting from Word for a day and see what happens!

I use RadNet and Instant Text but I had to upgrade to the newer version V. I copied all the reports for one day to Word and ran count of characters in Word and it matched RadNet's character count. My only problem with Instant Text and RadNet is the window to type in is smaller with IT located at the bottom of the screen.

OMG that is what is happening.... Acct gone and she went on vac and didnt bother to tell us...yea you know she knew. We asked yesterday what happened in mtg with client and she said she was too busy getting ready for vac to go to it.....nice very nice. Pretty darn sad had to find out thru this board. My understanding is that Shortcuts will not work with RadNet if you are typing directly on that platform. At least that is what we are told by Cerner and one of our sister hospitals who have already gone live. Lucky for us, we will be typing in EXText where we can still use Shortcuts and it will then upload. Sorry it isn't more positive news.

Thanks for letting me know about the trial w/Word and characters. We can't even track our productivity through RadNet or through the service I work for. So I have been cutting and pasting into Word and counting lines that way, which is yet another time-waster!

I worked for Webmedx for about 15 months. They pay by line and the account I worked on used RadNet but we used enterprise for the voice files. It was a lot of switching back and forth between programs though I got pretty fast with the quick keys. Actually, they couldn't count lines in Radnet so it was by minutes, now that I think about it. I had to quit the job because I spent most nights refreshing and waiting for work that never came. I just started a new job, no radiology involved but still I'm liking it much more. There was talk about going to VR with PowerScribe and I didn't look forward to that because I worked with it in the past. I have to say, I don't like editing VR at all. I can see how the docs would want to edit their own but some the VR transcribed so poorly it would be like them typing the whole thing for themselves which I could never seeing the docs doing...lol.
I bet you 1 million $$ you won't find one on mine. Mine is
2 years old and it does not have a 9-pin serial port, nor does it have a game port. I have used both ports on other computers so I know what both ports look like. I also have a company provided computer and it does have the ports on it.
How hard is RadNet to learn/use?
Is the platform MT friendly, I guess is what I'm asking? Do you like it? Is it word-based? What expanders work with it? Any information you can give. TIA!

Radnet issues intolerable
I am on RadNet and things have been horrible for the last 2 weeks. I've been bouncing back and forth between our help desk and their help desk like a ping pong ball. Unpaid, of course. I was unpaid Monday and Tuesday, yet my supervisor requested I stay chained to the computer and keep checking it over and over to see if it worked yet. When it finally did, my Comcast went down!
Last night, with the system finally working, the client's help desk called to see how it was doing, then proceed to tell me they have no clue how it got fixed, it seems to have miraculously fixed itself, so if there are more problems in the future they won't know how to fix them.
I was able to work last night, but then there was no work to type! Three days left in the work week...today and tomorrow are my scheduled days off, I am 12 hours in the hole so I'll try to make it up IF there's any work. I haven't had an actualy day off where I didn't have to fire up my computer and deal with technical issues since September 7th!
I am really hoping this is just a bad spell, because if it continues like this I'm not going to be able to stand it.
I've used InstantText with RadNet
I used it several years ago. I remember at first it did not work, but then I fiddled with it and got it to work - though I don't remember how. You might have to manually link it to the window you are in - if I remember correctly.
I'm speaking of Enterprise and radnet
Don't know what the situation is on Chartmatrix side. They are still scrambling to place many of us at this very moment. We spent all last week crying and praying that this was a bad dream. Our largest account went VR and we were supposed to edit it, and upgraded our software and hardware in order to do it. But the joke was on us because the day it went live it appears the docs decided to edit their own work and just not send us any more. Very nasty surprise, and not blaming Webmedx mgt for this (they surely would not have pulled the elaborate ruse of upgrading hardware and software at their own expense), it must be the client's fault.
Still, they are now desperately scrambling to find work for the 25+ MTs on this team that are now suddenly with nothing to type. NOT the time to be bringing in more newbies, IMO!
OSi didn't work out for me...lack of work sm
I worked there for about 3 months last year, and even though I was on 3 different accounts, I was continually running out of work. They wanted me to flex to meet their schedule needs (working on my days off and late at night), but do to having small children, and having to have a babysitter when I am working, I need a set scheduled, and they just couldn't handle that. I also thought they micromanaged. I like to be left alone to do work. I ended up slinking back to the Q after 3 months was up.
Didn't work for me
Not a great experience for me. I felt they did not have a clue as to what an MT was/did, espected way too much, way too soon. Training period of a few hours, then expected to make line count within 1 to 2 weeks on brand new account that no one had done yet - actually expecting a brand new employee to implement the account (huge) and make 1200 lines a day at the same time! I had 25 years' experience at the time and lasted there a very short time as I am older but wiser now!
Didn't work well enough for me.
When pressing the foot pedal, sometimes it would do nothing or would hesitate before hearing any dictation. I found this unacceptable and a pain in the butt. I don't think Vonage is allowing MTs anymore. At least, that's what I last heard.
