I suppose it probably varies with each account. My primary has been slow sm

since the holiday, but I am able to get my lines.  I'm hoping it picks up soon.

Hope this helps.

That is not true. It varies from account to account. I have
several internet accounts and on some you do have to input the patient information.
Varies from one account to another

I'm assigned to work on four different accounts, and two have demos (we call them census) and two do not.  Of the two that do, the screen usually comes up with most of the information, and then you just have to select the right visit, which you can usually do with the date of service.  I work in a Word-based platform, though it's not actually Word.  I also use ShortHand and autocorrect for expansions (though this wasn't asked, just thought it would be helpful to know).

I hope I didn't miss any questions!

Mandatry varies by account needs.
Of course they hate demanding it.  On my account they more often than not ask for help first, then offer incentives before we get to the mandatory stage.  If we had a few more good people, maybe it wouldn't happen so often.  Maybe we can interest you
Probably varies by account, but 24 to 48 hours
x
Depends on the account. Work on VR lately has been slow. Just like all companies, we have slow times

Honestly though, I have only had 2-3 times in the past 2 years where it was like the other day...no work... It did pick up later but I just think it's important not to make someone think we're overloaded with work all the time. That would not be fair to them if they end up with high expectations.

It varies. Once an MT is comfortable with the software and the account, and...sm
QA is pleased with the quality of work, then an MT can be released from full QA.  Lots of factors involved, no set time.
Do you have a primary account - sm
or do you have to work on several different accounts? Do you get a lot of feedback during training? Did it take you very long to start meeting line requirements? Do they have decent insurance? Thanks!
It was when I worked at YOG -- primary account was 95% ESL. BUT, it's not so bad ...sm

Generally, a lot of times they say the same things in their review of systems and physical examinations, and you can make up little normals for each doc.   Tough way to get your start, though -- sorry.

By the way, I don't think most acute care accounts are that heavy in ESL, but a number of 70-80% wouldn't surprise me.

Good luck!

I don't have to be management to know I have a primary account
that I work on and have backup accounts. If you have problems with ESL doctors on a certain you should let someone know. I had this happen before on a backup account and they removed it from my pool.

I myself find it interesting that people who don't work for them and have never worked for them are posting below bashing the company on heresay.
Losing primary account.
What happens?  I haven't been working for an MTSO long enough to know (worked in house for the last 5 years).  Could someone please tell me their experiences?  I work for a large MTSO, so I am hoping that I can get placed on another account, but really, I don't think there are enough slots to fill all our positions.  Any thoughts?  Please HELP.
To losing primary account
Can you tell us which company? The moderators say it is okay.
AGREE! When my primary account went ISR........
I took about a $200 to $300 a month pay cut. Don't think this won't happen with this new system. Will soon be paying them for the priviledge of working for them.
Its my understanding your pay is based on your primary account sm
I didn't ask that specific question but that is how I understood it when it was explained to me.
Very low on my primary account with my FT job, but busy with my PT jobs. sm
Unfortunately, I need the lines at the FT job not only for the $$$ but to maintain my benefits.  Kinda scary.
Yeah, and I can bet that account used to be my primary because it rarely has work now!
nm
your company takes overflow or has a primary account
I really have no idea if this applies to your current situation, but when I worked at a hospital and a large MTSO took our overflow, some of the girls I worked with had no qualms about leaving (or perhaps assigning, can't really remember now) the horrible doctors to the MTSO. We had a monitor that showed all the jobs waiting in queue, and they would (or could, anyway) go down the list assigning themselves the good ones, thereby leaving the bad ones to the MTSO. I worked radiology and everything was in-house for that, but I would watch the acute care ladies do this.
My primary account is a hosp in new orleans so I'm wondering if we'll have more charts in a fe
x
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
You should ask for another account until the slow......sm

season passes.  It is like this everywhere.  I work 2 jobs and both places are the same.

My account is slow right now but it has been
good prior to this. I work in Word.
I only have one account...and it's slow. SM

I want a back-up account, but haven't been assigned one yet.  They have several accounts, though, so I don't know how the other accounts are doing as far as work load goes.  I've read on this board that this is a slow time of the year for a lot of MT companies.  So, I'm keepin' my fingers and toes crossed that things will start picking up next week.

Besides being slow (which I know is a biggie), I really like TH.  Great sups, great bennies, good pay, etc.

Hopefully some other people will jump in and let you know how their workload is right now.

I work for MDI-FL and the account I am on has been slow *sm*
for over a month.  I will not make enough this past pay period to cover the cost of long distance and my Internet connection.  I know they have other accounts that are behind that you can work on but I personally feel the account I am working on is so slow because they overhired on it.  Why did they not put those extra people on one of the accounts that is consistently backed up?  I am in the process of testing for employment elsewhere.  Other than this recent issue with no work/overhiring, I have always been happy with MDI.  I will be sorry to leave but I am sure that the others working on the account will be happy to see me go as it will be one less person taking their lines.
That sucks...I know it was slow on my account
for awhile but it's REALLY picked up now. Did you try them recently? I also hear Landmark is very similar to MDI-MD with their structure for ICs. Have you tried them?
My secondary account has been slow for weeks
but they gave me another account, so I'm good. My primary account has also been pretty busy these past few weeks. I guess this is just a slow time of year.
My account has been slow this week due to an orthopedic conference...
but not completely out of work...ask your supervisor if you can have a backup account...there is plenty of work to be done..
No - it is not always slow! Depends on the company and hospital. I have never been slow this time
Slow time is usually in September when everyone is back to work/school from the summer months.

Been doing this 24 years and never slow this time of year. Actually, I am drowning in work - can't keep up.
Last month was slow on my account..but this month (sm)
we've been swamped...
Thanks. Again I'm not asking what you CAN do because I know that it varies quite a bit with
platforms, but what is required to maintain your FT status, i.e. 1200 per day for an 8 hour shift, etc.
Probably varies, just ask them
/
It varies
from work type to work type as far as ESL.  I do not feel it is too bad.  We have some difficult docs just like every other service.  As far as pay per line.  I feel it is decent.  They go by your experience.  Gulf Coast is completely Independent contractor, no benefits, as of now.  However, they are working on trying to get insurance for us :-).  I enjoy working for them very much.
From what I recall, it varies.
I think the low was something like $12 a PP (with a high deductible plan), and I forget what the high was. All of their plans had fairly high deductibles, with the lowest being $1500, I think. They start 30 days after probation, which means 120 days; a little too long for me.
Its odd how much the job experience varies

I left Spheris for almost identical reasons to those posted above.  Going to Webmedx was the best thing for me - I love it, my supe loves me and I've made more money this year than ever before in my life.

Just goes to show that each experience with a company is so varied that no matter how much advice for and against a company is on these boards, you never really know what your own experience will be until you're there.  No job is perfect for everyone.

Renee, it varies from job to job, sm
whether with benefits, inhouse, hospital employed or at a service. I'm guessing the average is 9 cpl/per 65 w or w/o benefits. Advise shopping around FL for the best deal. Good luck. I'm looking for greener pastures, too.
Mine varies but on VR usually
anywhere from 3000 up over 4000 per day. I also do some straight.
No, only that work varies over the pay period sm
I see my primary account in week 1 of the 2 weeks. By Tuesday of week 2 of 2 weeks, I see my secondary and my primary and as the week wears on I have less and less of my primary and more of my other 3 accounts. I guess I know that some people are making up their lines, but that is now how I work.
The count varies, but today
in my first 2 hours I had over 1000- I think only 58 of those were straight and the rest VR, but according to the work, I have done over 700-800 an hour. It is possible and if you know the work, easy to get at least 500 per hour.
I suppose

they would have told me by now if they were unhappy with my production or my hours.

suppose i should
would like information regarding employment w/ this company. not interested in gossip... would like information that would help me decide whether this company would be worth considering an offer from.
IF VR is suppose to be
better quality, faster, then the facilities and transcription companies are already ahead in the game because their MTs will be able to do more, so why decrease their pay at all since they will be getting twice the amount of work and better quality.  Is that what VR is all about?  Did MTs pay decrease when they moved from standard typerwriters to electric typerwriters from electronic typerwriters to computers?  Since when does better technology mean decreased pay? Is this really better technology or continued lack of value for those who do the work?
she is right, she is not suppose to cut sm
you a check without your SS number. She has to have that to cut you a 1099.

If you make less than 600 you don't have to claim it anyway.

If it were me, she would not get a computer back until I got my check!

Curiosity, why did you NOT sign any paperwork? Why would you agree to that?
I'm sure I'm suppose to be an example
probably thinking that I'm a retiree I can't afford to defend myself.  LOL  Fortunately I have a good attorney.  He's also a personal friend. LOL
It varies widely. Most companies pay per line.
I've seen it as low as 3 cpl.  Some companies pay per hour, some as low at $10, others up to $16.   The ones that pay the lowest is probably off-shore work and in that case is isn't enough because you have to 100% edit and correct half of it- could also be VR work.
I believe the speed setting varies with platform
Some are actually able to increase the speed more than other platforms, I believe. That might explain the difference.

I use the Escription/Editscript platform and love it. I have to admit I am blessed with a great account that has some truly excellent dictators and I've no doubt that makes a huge difference.

I think VR is something one either loves or hates. I'm apparently in the minority that love (as do my hands and wrists and shoulders!).

I find it varies widely by dictator
Caveat up front: I've only been on VR less than 6 months. More experienced MT editors might have a completely different VR experience.

That said, I notice the big factors in how many LPH I can do with it are (1) how long the dictating provider has been using the VR system and how many times s/he's been through readaptation, (2) whether the dictator is ESL. The software so far seems to favor native speakers over ESL's; it 'gets' the native speaker's speech pattern faster.

I am looking for quality, myself. The temptation to 'skim' is there with this kind of work, but I'm too afraid I'll make critical errors that way.

If I have a good dictator who's been readapted a few times, I can get by with little editing and average 400 lph. Most of the editing I do in that capacity is formatting, and a few good ShortHand entries can make a world of difference in speeding that up. I'd say definitely visit the Community page Training tab if you haven't already.

With a new and/or ESL dictator, though, I admit it: It's faster for me to straight-type it. So I do, because I can get between 300 and 350 lph that way. Editing might easily drop me down to that 200 lph ceiling you're struggling with. I don't know if that will always be so, or if, as I get more used to the rhythm of editing, it will become second nature and go faster. But right now, if the report's bad enough I simply transcribe it.

Again, just my experience so far.
primary
My primary is on that list as well but we're still going strong and hard so not sure if I believe that or not. Also a local hospital is on it and I know for sure they don't outsource.
new primary

I was given a different primary once. It was a brand new account. I tried it, and really didn't like it, and when I asked to go back to my old primary they said that was perfectly fine and put me back without any hassle at all.

I have added another secondary a couple of times, without any problem as well.

I suppose 4000/mo is too low for you?
What world do you live in?
Fired you too, I suppose?
Believe everything you read, huh chickenneck? We got you again, and proved our point again. She starts this week, and a nice healthy rate as well. Jealous, I know...stop wasting your valuable work time spread rumors and gossiping and you too may be one of the lucky ones! HAHAHA!
No, you are a recruiter. I suppose that does
