Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

I should

I mentioned the situation where our company was desperate for night/Sunday coverage and could not satisfy our needs by any means with American transcriptionists. We were literally forced to outsource to an offshore subcontractor or lose the account entirely.

The quality from the subcontractor was not good, but it wasn't terrible either. We did have to QA the work more closely for awhile and as a consequence we actually ran the account at a loss at first due to the extra QA costs. However, they got into the groove after a time, and we were able to back off the full QA. It wasn't an ideal situation but it enabled us to keep the account and, more important, to keep our own folks who were working on the account as well. Had we lost the account, we would have had to let some Americans go.

Oh - and one other thing? I hate to say it, but you could call up the offshore contractor and they would put people on the account at any time of the day 24 hours a day (so, sometimes it was a night shift for them) and any day of the week. There was never a word of complaint.

If we had been so fortunate with American MTs, we would have never been talking to an offshore company in the first place.

The more you know, the more you realize how much you didn't know.
