I quite agree with communicating directly

It takes absolutely zero integrity to post grievances on an anonymous chat board. In my view, integrity demands that we take our complaints to those who have the power to do something about them--otherwise you are not handling the complaints productively or with integrity--you are just whining. As they used to say back in the day, don't say behind someone's back what you would not say right to their face. I think the way MDI has been treated on this board is shameful. Many of you owe an apology for your behavior and actions. (And have you considered that what you say can be legally actionable?) If any company works for you, stay; if it does not work for you, leave. There are all kinds of companies for all kinds of people. Keep trying and you are likely to find the right fit. Please consider how you might feel if someone came on a chat board and bashed you anonymously. You know, that old saying about the Golden Rule? In my book, anonymous attacks are about the cheapest sellout there is, integrity-wise. Think about it.

It's about communicating
In response to XOX-

I have to agree with much of your post. I work at TT and, as far as transcription companies go, this one has been higher on the list than most. Emails met with silence? I cannot tell you how much this really gets my back up. It's hard to figure out. what does that mean? My request is stupid? I'm not valuable? I don't have time to deal with you? They will tell you they are busy, but then, I think they need to manage that. Sometimes I ask something requiring a yes or no answer, that takes 2 seconds. Doesn't everyone know how to manage their emails? I would say that they might re-look at all emails being required to be sent to so many people. Treating MTs like one big global MT appears to be presenting issues.

One of the things I see in this industry that is quite prevalant is a lack of the mgmt personnel to really (really, not just in lip service) include MTs in their team. The people who do the work are never asked for their opinion on anything. I hate to say never, but I almost think it would fit in this industry; I have never received an acknowledgement for any suggestion I have submitted about how something is done. It is always ignored or excused away. Something seems to happen when people get into management in the MT world. There's a clear divide about MT's should type and shut up, and mgrs have all the answers, and there is little in between. Your opinion is never requested; if offered, usually ignored.

I agree XOX, I am sick of sitting at this computer for 18 hours/day trying to pay my bills. Poor dictation, client wishes, technical problems, and techs not knowing how to fix technical problems.. you can blow off an entire day with this stuff and then, you better get your lines in.

I don't want to pull out TT to finger point at because they do rise above most, but I am disappointed, yet again, at the one-way, top-down, shut up and type management style.. If the client complains about something, sit down and figure out who's doing it and manage things directly and with individuals with an eye that all errors are not because people are lazy and careless. There are many reasons errors are made. There are also clients that pass the buck and doctors who like to gripe. THe MT management group needs to figure out other ways to solve things than an email to the entire staff telling them whatever annoyance of the day is careless and unacceptable. Take the time to dig in and figure it out. Then, deal with whoever is involved.

A memo comes out frequently telling everyone to remember (just one more thing to remember) to identify the account you are on when you send an email; they have set up where any email inquiries go to a particular management team... they ask to please remmeber to put the acct name on your email because there is no way we can remember everyone. If they can't remember everyone, why would everyone remember this rule? I say, get to know everyone, then. I can't say I feel incredibly important if, they don't know who I am, and, further, don't even want to portray the desire to do so. Just because we are out of site, shouldnt mean we're out of mind.

As managers, how can you make life pleasant and easier for your people that you value so much? If everyone made just one error a day, that would be 250 a day, which seems like a lot when you manage people globally like TT (and most companies). It tells a different story when you look into the details

Managing is not just about making clients happy and shooting out TAT emails which mean nothing to me - I have no reference as to their meaning. Managing means improving the process and creating efficiency. There is just a tendency in this industry to push everything down hill and scold.

The purpose of our job is to produce quality medical documents. Good managing involves looking in all areas, not just at the MT. If managers think the answer to everything is adding one more thing to the to-do list for MT, it's just a fact, the quality of reports will go down. There is only so much a person can remember.

And finally, just because someone is a speedy Transcriptionist does not make them a good manager. In fact, one has nothing to do with the other and is another sign that there is a lack of knowledge here.

Agreeing with xox, they do well in nice, but it isnt nice to ignore people.

People in this industry just have never learned how to manage people it would seem. I would start with asking, how can we help our MTs as opposed to what you need to do to help us. How would you manage people in the real world? It should look no different virtually except for the mode of communication.

That starts at the top where the owner sets the trend for ignoring emails. There is a very odd absence from her.
I wonder if TT has always been this secretive and bad at communicating?

Directly
No use taking things up with them directly, nothing ever changes, it is their way or the highway. Furthermore, they will never return your phone calls.

As far as not wanting you to post on message boards, hmmmm wonder why? Do you think maybe they know they do not have a good reputation and that might get out? Be careful, Big Brother is watching, NOT. This is America Folks chat on!!!!!!
Directly to a hospital.

Look at the post directly below yours or look
at the ads on the job boards.
You might try contacting QA directly ...

I agree, this makes no sense and my guess is all the HIPPA folderol is just a smokescreen this person is throwing up (for whatever I do not wanna deal with this or stick my neck out for ANY reason) ...

alternatively -- I would recommend saving each and every report you type from this person AND THEN  flagging the report for QA  so you can fill in your own blanks if no one wants to help you.  I type several doctors who  -- without samples -- speak in some impenetrable monotone ... without my file of samples, their reports would be moth-eaten.

good luck - if your company has a chat board or if contacting someone else on that account/WT might be a (much less convenient and/ or discrete) alternative.

Good luck, Yes, people do actually quit jobs over dictators like that ... too bad so many companies seem to blame the MT and some imaginary work ethic problems when the real problem, imho, is lack of support.

All this turnover of MTs (or any other employee class) is VERY VERY bad for any company's bottom line...  but so many companies seem to blame the MT personally ... it poisonous.

I contacted them directly and they
told me they were NOT hiring..... Makes me sad :(
She said that the OP directly told her
and other coworkers all these things in instant message.
I've not worked for them directly, but have been...
in contact with the upper management off an on for other matters. Very personable, level-headed, and presumably much SANER than some other company higher-ups that we've all discussed here!
You may want to call and ask them directly on Monday...
but I believe it depends on the way you were hired. If you are an hourly employee, your PTO would be paid at that rate. If you are production based, your PTO rate is paid at your average production over a period of three months. You must maintain a minimum line count though. Rochelle would know better.

E-mail me directly, I'm not posting it on here
too often, and I don't want them to figure out who I am before I make my decision. All I can tell you on here is, make sure whatever you agree to with them, you GET IT IN WRITING.
Talk to the CFO directly. Don't stand for this.

No. Then you get the great "work for us directly"

Why not send this to her email directly?
I think you should take this to her via email. Its easy enough to create an alternate ID so you would not be identified if you are trying to be anonymous.
Ask a simple question, everyone goes directly

In my communication directly with Transcend...
I was informed they do not have PT openings, only full-time.

As I believe CynicalMT said, TRUST NO ONE at this juncture.

I believe both companies are simply trying to keep everyone calm until THEY decide to drop the other shoe.

NEVER post your resume and personal info on the internet.
Not so. Can barely get 9 cents directly from the doctor!
Doctors see all these Indian companies offering 6 cpl, balk at 9 to 10 cpl, and they want it printed, free courier service, ect.

I am full retirement age (FRA) and still working; do I report my earnings to Social Security?

Question
I am full retirement age and still working. Do I have to report my earnings to Social Security?

Answer
When you reach full retirement age you no longer need to report your earnings to Social Security.

You do, however, need to report earnings for those months in the calendar year before the month you reach full retirement age. For example, if you reach it in May, you would need to report your earnings for the four earlier months.

The law also changed the annual earnings limit for workers who reach full retirement age during the year. During those months before you reach full retirement age, your benefits would be reduced $1 for each $3 you earned over the limit which is $37,680 in 2009 and $36,120 in 2008.

I think you know what I meant. That is not the problem as I responded directly to her email.

I am sure that any other company that tried to respond to her also had the same problem. I know it is sbcglobal.net but hey, I am not on here to get QA'd.  I in a very quick moment put up a message to an MT who wanted a job and did it very quickly in the middle of my busy schedule trying to be courteous and helpful.

Have a nice evening or was that eneving.  :)

I took out the legal references. If anyone has questions about it, email me directly.

Does any facility hire MT directly as IC or employee for eScription? sm

I do not want to work through a service again.  I am tired of running out of work. If anybody knows of any leads, even if they aren't hiring right now, please e-mail me privately.  All responses will be confidential.  I am looking for something for myself, not to be posted to others.

Thank you in advance.

Has anybody gotten hired from a contact directly from posting your resume .. sm
Just wondering if posting my resume on here is a wise idea and what kind of success other MTs have experienced with posting theirs on these types of sites, versus sending your resume to a company in response to their ad.
Anyone know of MTSOs that have you connect with hospital and type directly into Chartscript?

I removed the posts after speaking directly to the owner of the company. If
you have questions or concerns you need to take it up with her.  There is one specific person causing most of this grief.  I have CHOSEN to remove the posts, I was not forced to.
Great News!! I was able to cash the check yesterday. I called the branch directly and they said-sm

right now it was good.  I do live in another state but her bank was bought by a bank that is local to me.  I went there as soon as I could get there and they cashed the check for me!!!  She owes me another small check ($84 and change) which I still have not received.  I was beginning to think that I was never going to see this $$ (the last time I was able to cash a check from her was back in January).  I guess if I bug her enough I will get my other funds.  I think she just wants me to go away which I will as soon as I get all the funds owed me.  She also owes me a 1099 but I am not going to stress over that.  I still have my records.  Thanks all for your ideas.

Agree 100%
STAY away!
Nobody is going to agree anyway. LOL
And nobody has worked for every company in the U.S. to be able to offer an informed opinion.
Agree

I agree also.  I do think that each company has its MTs that have not one thing good to say about the company and on the flip side, there are many that love it.  I have worked at a few different companies in my time and find through experience on this forum to be true.  I absolutely love Transcend.  There are a few things that aren't perfect in my book, but the good far outweighs the bad.  The thing that I hate, though, is if you have anything good at all to say about your company, you are either management, lying, or a cheerleader.  I think that people love to believe the worst.

I also have found out through my travels that things can vary greatly from one employee to another even though they may work at the same company.  There may be a rule for you that does not apply to another, example - below one says Spheris would not allow someone to work at MQ also but there is an MT who is doing it with permission.  An MT can get on here and argue all day long that this or that doesn't happen at their company but it may very well happen for another MT.  It is so humerous to me to see that we believe that being employed at a company, in our remote homes, that we think we know everything about that company and how it operates with the other remote MTs - MTs that more than likely we don't even know.

I agree 100%.
I agree 100%
I don't agree entirely.

When offshore outsourcing first began many clients began jumping on that bandwagon thinking they were going to be able to save money.  That resulted in a great number of clinics and hospitals eliminating their in-house transcription departments because of 1) reduction in overhead expense by outsourcing a whole department and 2) realizing an even greater reduction in expenses by using foreign labor at less cost than domestic transcription wages.  The trend is beginning to come full circle now and because of quality issues and the higher cost of risk management more clients are demanding that their medical records information stay in the United States.  A lot of MTSOs now advertising are stating right in their ads NO OFFSHORE MTs NEED APPLY.  Clients are beginning to see that it wasn't as cost effective as they thought it would be because it actually ends up costing more in the long run either in quality or risk management. Some hospitals and clinics are actually bringing work back in house again and only using domestic vendors for overflow work.  I think sooner or later unless the quality of VR improves it will have the same result.

i agree
I also had a similar experience last year and did not like it at all. It was a total mistake.
Yes, I agree

Thank you for posting this!  I am also very happy with Amphion.  It is nice to hear a positive experience for a change.  I hope your post will help other MTs searching for work realize that there really are some good companies out there!

I agree--
They will make your life miserable with every nit picking thing they can think of to get you to quit. Again, this was my experience, no one has to agree with me.
Agree
but I thought that she was referring to simply putting it in a diagnosis, not coding.

LOL......I understood that she was just transcribing the numbers as they're dictated. And, we all know the docs don't always give the "dash" (-) or "slash" (/) word when it needs to be typed in.

I wasn't trying to help code, been a while since I did that, just trying to help make sure her question was answered. (No offense intended.) :)
I agree with QT
QT EASY platform -- a few mushmouths -- mainly PAs very few ESLs -- also FutureNet is a good company  -- direct deposit as statutory by they will express mail checks and good cpl rate -- sorry for the typos  -- just got done for the night and no fingers left
I agree..
I left after sitting for five hours and getting 2 reports, this was Transcend who bought MDI. Then, there was the sound issues.

The staff was just great though!
I agree with everything you said....
It just seems like Transcend is the company to bash this month, but I am extremely happy
I Agree.....
There are so many "cherry-pickers" on the account(s) I work on, it makes me crazy. Some of us get stuck doing the hardest jobs and the others breeze through.
I agree 100%. (sm)
Someone here had a bad experience and has made it her goal in life to run this company down. Maybe she didn't come up to par....actually you can tell that by her messages. I have only been with OSi about 6 months, but will be staying till I retire.
I agree!

Definately the meanest on this board.  Always has something to say, whether it pertains or not...
