Format
The program is very easy to learn - literally only takes a few minutes. The daily line count really depends on your typing speed. My speed is not what it could be because I have a 6yo at home with me and have several interruptions during my shift with dinner, ball practice, etc. But, on a good day with no interruptions, I would say a minimum of 1000 lines. No need to apologize for the questions. Feel free to ask all the questions you want. It's better to know what you're in for before you jump in head first with any company!
It does not format everything according to sm
specs. Many times, no headings are made, things are not spaced the way the account wants it to be.
Do not believe the lies they are telling you. I work on it now and it does not do what they are telling you it does.
It's all in the margins and format
when comparing a gross line count to a character count, but my goodness, .23 a line sounds like it cannot possibly be true. My gross lines accounts don't convert that way at all. One doc has a 1-inch margin and her gross line count is just slightly above the 65-character count because she doesn't do lists and keeps her PX in paragraph format. If you are being told it converts to .23 a line, I would wonder if most of the whole report is indented half-way across the page. Maybe you hit upon a gold mine! Ask about the format...
I have to put that leading 0 and use h:mm:ss format
or it doesn't add correctly, but yeah, I found on playing with it that I could just enter them in that way, then do a sum and it added up just fine without any special formatting or customizing cells.
And, thanks for the information and the offer. Most of the time I don't know enough to even know what question to ask. I just made that discovery and thought I'd throw that out there in case somebody else was in the same boat. :)
I did not see any format rules.
As far as reformatting, I use macros to make formatting changes that seem to be frequently necessary.
You can format Shorthand to...sm
put the ctrl+n keystroke into your text. You don't have to go back and reformat the headers that way.
MDI-MD resume format question
I sent them a resume a couple of weeks ago, but it was in word perfect format. Should I have converted it to a .doc file?
Do you have a copy of the BOS to follow for format, etc.? nm
s
How about providing some samples of format? sm
OK, so transitioning can be tough, but for an MT with that kind of experience, I would assume that with a few samples of format to follow she could be up and running in no time. I would not mess with them. Something is weird.
Thank you! What is the format like, and is it timed? Any info helpful please. Thanks! nm
nm
Does it format for a SSN - can you put in a note that you will provide it if hired? nm
nm
Just paste it and let it go. They're looking for content, not format, when ....sm
...the resume is sent via a web contact form. If you are a good MT with good qualifications, they won't care how it's set up, but do make sure words are spelled correctly. That's a huge bugaboo when I read resumes.
You will have to completely format the hard drive first
delete any partitions and create a new partition, format the C drive and then install Windows XP. I have done this a ton of times and have had no problems.

Excel date/time value vs. format
It's helpful to understand how Excel handles date/time. (In all examples below, you don't actually type the quotes)
Excel maintains a distinction between the VALUE of the date/time and the FORMAT. For instance, when you type 5:12 in cell A3, Excel understands that you mean a date/time value, and stores this as 0.2166666. By default, if you do not specify a date, Excel uses the mythical 1/9/1900 for the date portion, and the time specified.
As another example, go to any cell and type in =NOW(). Excel will store this as a date/time, but format it on screen to your default preference -- mine looks like 1/26/2008 14:23. But if you click on that date again, then go to the Format menu, choose Number, select 4 Decimal places, you will see it change to 39473.6000 -- representing 39473.6 full days from the beginning of time (according to Excel - 1/0/1900).
Bottom line: go ahead and enter your data as just h:mm, then add them up / see if it behaves -- shouldn't require any special formatting....
Also, fwiw - if you have any Excel questions, I would be happy to reply here or answer emails....
I totally agree re medical report format.

Anyone know of a company, easy clinic work, easy Word format, dependable pay? Help!

RISS is not a platform. RIS stands for Radiology Information System. The platform sm
would be EXText.
MDI-MD platform is fast, not full of problems like Transcend platform or MDI-FL
On Transcend platform you have to click, click, click all day and still get errors, change screens constantly - its a nightmare to work in.
Yes, SPi does use this platform....it's a great platform, but not worth working for SPi. nm

Bad Platform. I personally know of 3 MTs who left because of the platform.
If you are like me, the bottom line is wages and what I get in my check. I have never worked for Amphion, but I personally know of 3 MTs who worked part-time at Amphion before quitting their other service to see what Amphion had to offer before it was too late. All 3 quit Amphion and stayed with their other service because of the Amphion platform. Too hard to make any decent lines.
Something to think about.

To all of us trying our hardest to grab our work when it is available, and then still only make 24 bucks a day because of the garbage platform.
To each his/her own! I was on a different VR platform sm
and ran out of work constantly. I have worked on several VR platforms and BeyondText is not the best, but it is not the worst either.
Every company has good and bad. Transcend was just not a good fit for me; however, it may be a good fit for you or the next person who comes along.
I love new technology and work on state-of-the-art platforms, the newer the better, so that typewriter theory of yours really does not jive here.
Every company has good and bad, it all depends on the individual MT and what that MT is looking for in a company.
Good luck to you and if you choose Transcend, I hope it is a good fit for you!

Any info at all on CareFlow platform? Is is productive? Any info appreciated.
MDI-MD's pay & platform
1. How do they pay in comparison to other companies?
2. Can you access reports typed by other people or review the patient's old reports in Bayscribe?
3. Do they furnish PC and/or charge a fee?
Thanks
Could you tell me what platform they use?
nm
Platform???
DQS??
new platform
I really like the new platform, but it's always running out of work. When there is work, I can get pretty good lines.
what is the best platform out there?
what is the best platform and what kind of money is "good money" in transcription?
What platform do they use? sm
Do they consider full-time to be 40 hours a week?
What platform do they use?
Any idea on the payscale? Can you provide any other information?
platform
Okay, that is good to know. The account I would be on is on Medrite, which I have used before and like.
Thanks.

And if they don't get you with a bad platform,
then they overstaff your account. I used to get over 20,000 lines before they overstaffed mine and started playing favorites, with cherry picking taking place. (And don't say it can't happen, because it can and does right before my eyes all the time.) I've been struggling to make the minimum to keep my benefits.
And then they try to tell you how you're going to be making such great money when you go to voice recognition, which is a JOKE for someone who typically transcribes 250-300 lines an hour.
To read this board and find that now the incentive program is discontinued for new employees (who are now hired at a higher rate and given instant PTO) while the rest of us who were hired before November 1 have to scramble to get a higher line count in order to make what the newbies are making and have to wait a year before earning one minute of PTO only provides yet another example of the inequitable way this company operates.
I'm tired of all the games, the insulting of my intelligence with the fiction they invent, and the terrible, terrible program.
And to all the cheerleaders out there: Write down all the good things you have to say now, save it in a file, put it on your calendar for 6 months from now and THEN let us all know how you're making out.
As for me, I've found another job.
About which platform.......sm
Is your account still on the H platform? Is the the bo account? That's what I was on, and I am the one thinking of going back with the post above yours. If so, this is interesting to know ahead of time.
I believe you can use IT with the platform.

What platform do they use...
and are they employee only status or do they have IC also? Thanks!!
Both IC/SE, their own platform (sm)
which they are constantly upgrading in response to MT feedback, works much like Word, compatible with Instant Text, Shorthand, and Wordpad-based normals.
Could you tell me what platform
they use and if they are employee only? Do you have to be full time? Thanks much!!
Platform: their own (sm)
which works a lot like Word, accepts Instant Text, which the company will help you buy (they also have free IT classes and glossaries for many accounts). I like that they upgrade the platform based on MT feedback. Owner is known for hiring top tech staff and programmers. I'm an SE; they also hire employees. I don't think you have to be full time, but it's so easy to make the full time lines that you might want to be. I've done overflow work for probably 10 services in the last 5 years (in addition to working long term for 1 service), and I've never piled up the line count as easily as with ProScript nor been treated as well.
It is just a platform.
I worked on Softmed when I was in-house. You are basically working in Word superimposed on Softmed. I liked it when I used it. If you are proficient in Word, you will do fine.
What platform does - sm
TransHealth use?
platform
I work for them also and have found the TT/webtop platform to be slow with too many demos to search for and enter in. You must be on Vscript, would that be correct? And you don't enter any demos?
Platform
That would be fine. I just need to invest in something better for my MT's and for the company itself since we are growing tremendously. Thanks for the reply.
Do they use a platform or is it
ftp? What other software is needed? TIA!
OSI--platform?
anyone know what platform OSi (outsourcing solutions inc) uses and/or have any comments about how productive it is?

Got an email from them about an interview tomorrow; what platform do they use-anyone know? Thank you
TRS platform?
I head it is word based - is this correct? Would like to be able to use my Stedman's spellcheck and ShortHand for windows.
TRS Platform
It is the Lanier CMT system and is a Word-based system.
It was NOT you, it was their platform, UGH
The BEST platform ever
I have worked for Cymed (now SPI) for almost a year now and I LOVE their platform! It is called Chartnet. It took me less than a day to learn how to use it and it almost never crashes. It is the most efficient platform that I have ever used and I plan on staying with them because of it.
SPI platform
I am thinking about testing with SPI for onocology work. Does anyone know what platform they use? Is it Word based? Do you run out of work there? Are you happy with the company? Thanks!!!!
