I know of one company that counts lines 3 different ways

Stats are enabled on one platform, not enabled on a second platform and also not enabled on a third platform. They are all Dictaphone Extext programs and the lines are counted three different ways depending on which account you are assigned to. Hope its not the same company you work for only to get a rude awakening.

It goes two ways. MTs have to turn their line counts in on time and
in the format they are supposed to, not 4 days after the fact, not with mistakes that they find after the fact. There has to be accountability both ways.
I've easily done 600, but it depends on the way a company counts lines and it depends on the
dictators. Obviously, if you have a good share of ESL, there is no way you could ever do 600 or 700. On really difficult ones, I usually run around 400 lines an hour and I have been working on this platform for 3 years.
It's a separate company with different ways of doing things
Transcend is a public company and owned by shareholders, and MDI is a major shareholder.

I have been at MDI for several years and I have not noticed any change in the way it is run.

yes, but remember that Word counts blank lines, as well. nm

Low line counts - difficult to make 1200 lines in 8 hours. sm
25 years of experience as an Acute Care MT and I had a difficult time getting 200 lph with Bayscribe. Any other accounts with other companies, I could easily transcribe 350-400 lph. Not at MDI - very difficult. I loved the account, but again it was difficult to get a decent line count.

It doesn't matter if you pay me 11 cpl if I can't get a decent line count. Couldn't take the 3 x day e-mails either.
Bayscribe stinks!
You mean the T. company's line counts...sm
were not accurate??     (I had considered applying to them before.)
Whatever company you work for, you should verify that it counts correctly. sm
Take the document, cut and paste it into Word, count it that way. No way I would take the word of a company or a program unless I can verify my lines.

I do not work for Keystrokes but had to give my 2 cents, whatever it's worth!
Depends upon how your company counts things, I suppose. sm

I like both platforms.  Bayscribe is easy to use, and the Expander emulates PRD+, which I was used to.  The spellchecker is kind of clumsy -- that could definitely use some tweaking.  The thing I liked the most about Bayscribe was at the end of each report, you saw the line count for that report and how much you made, plus a total of lines for all reports and the total number of lines you had made for the day.

I am currently using ExText, and it is also easy to use.  I have to go to ichart to view my line count, though, and you cannot get it on a report-to-report basis.   The CTRL+I feature is useless to me since my employer does not count headers or footers.  I quit using it because I hated to see what a big difference there was at the end of the day.  I could do 300 lines per hour on Bayscribe.  With the current setup, maybe 250.  I can do 300 if I just sit and type as fast as I can with no breaks, but that cannot last for 8 hours solid.

Either platform is okay.  I still kinda miss WP51 -- think DOS-based programs were faster -- but you can't hold on to a dinosaur.  And, obviously that is just my opinion.  Hope it helps.

I've only been with present company for months and don't have counts where I'd like, otherw
nm
Never mind..See msg below. Apparently the line counts are changing with my company
and I probably wont be doubling anything anymore. Moving on.
I worked for a different company using Vianeta and could never access line counts. Was also told it
:+
there is a midsized company with 900 lines a day
lines because people end up doing only the minimum, so they over staff...then no one has enuf to do and no one is happy. bad management in my opinion. Two employees who will consistently do 1500 lpd each is less expensive to the employer than 3 who do 900 each.
My company goes by lines instead of hours.

5000 lines every two weeks.

Does anyone know of a company that is looking for an IC to produce at least 500 lines/day . . . sm
and I can work on my OWN SCHEDULE, just as long as it's back in 24 hours, and who pays at least 8cents/line per 65-characters with spaces??? I keep applying to places that seem to fit this, but then they want me to work certain hours, that's not what being an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR entails. Thanks you guys!
185 lines? The company I'm working for wants 250......what is the average???? Anyone???
Thanks!
my company, not Keystrokes, 1020 lines/day
nm
other ways
If your husband works or you have another employee job just have them withold additional money and you don't have to do a thing except at the end of the year file a Schedule C and it might give you more deductions.
There are ways of ...
getting over on the MT when it comes to line counting methods. Most companies I have worked for in the past have some sort of wacky formula you go by - divide by this number then multiply by that number -- only they know if they are getting over and I don't think anyone would ever admit to that.
pay both ways?
nm
you can take it 2 ways:

1) your test was so great that they knew they couldn't afford you.

2) THEY gave YOU the wrong test.

Either way - you're too good for them. Keep your chin up - you'll find the right third job. Hope everything works out with your house.

I have seen it both ways, can do, can't do sm
I work for TT (um duh) and there I got my lines from the very first day. I am up around 1700 lines a day right now.

I don't have many normals, actually. I do have a wonderful Expander and glossary that I know like the back of my hand. I worked for a couple of other companies last year. One I could make 1500 lines a day, if they had the work and I could go to 1800 if they did. The other place...OMG and it didn't matter how fast I was or how many hours I worked, I never got more than 1200 and it just kept going down the longer I worked there and I think they were shorting lines or something funky because it was not coming out right.

I can tell you, I don't like Emdat Inscribe, Bayscribe, amongst others for platforms because it is just impossible to get up any speed with them. I had an easy time in Extext, MTWorld and MedRite getting my lines and getting up to speed FAST and I mean in a matter of days to a couple of weeks. I have been an MT forever and that helped, but I still can't make any $$ in Bayscribe, so it isn't me...the darn platform stinks!

It sounds like they are not dealing fairly with you on some level and hard to say where.
It goes 2 ways. (sm)

If all these so-called accusations are really true, why didn't the COMPANY let her go a long time ago?  Any one of those reasons you cited would have been grounds for dismissal on the spot.  Why would they keep such a disruptive employee on board for so long, especially paying her the rate she was getting?

There is a post below that makes a lot of sense.  It asks why the 'best wishes' email was sent to the correct address and not to the address of the original resignation letter. One of those things that makes you go hmmmmm.  I wonder what their legal department will have to say about that.  IMO, even if the original poster had done all those things, the way the company went about letting her go is cause for a lawsuit because too many things don't add up and it sounds a lot like illegal dismissal rather than a resignation.

One of two ways...
Either they knew who was posting based on identifying information, which makes me think (yes, my thoughts, not claiming it as fact) that the person posting really did have 'inside information,' or they received the IP address from this site, either by court order or simply by requesting/threatening.
Must be a small company. 1000 lines/day is not that impressive. nm
nm
Company paid me 179 for 4645 lines. Whats that 3.8 cpl?

She does not seem to want to contact me about the money she owes me, either.  Thirty years and 3.8 cpl.  Unbelievable.

There are a couple of ways....
You can either use Alt+tab and that will switch you toggle you between programs or you can just keep a notebook and write down the acc#. I thought this was going to really hurt my production but after you get use to doing it, it doesn't really seem to be a big deal at all. Good luck!
so, they WOULD have found ways....or....
you say they would have....does that mean they did, and if they did find ways to cheat, how so? You say you worked in the office and say they would have found ways, and it would take us a while to figure it out, but you don't say they actually did find ways to cheat, so which is it? Your statement is vague and you need to elaborate.
Yes, a couple of ways (sm)
The reason you are being told that is because ExText (WordClient) must be installed in the C directory. There are a couple of ways around this. You can have your computer set up to dual boot or you can set up a virtual machine on your computer. As long as it thinks it is C it will allow a second install (or more) on one computer.
Actually this works both ways. If she wants
to take off that is fine - and she needs to realize they may not want to send work either - like poster below said - it is common courtesy - and OP probably has it under control
Are there any ways to find out if SM

company one works for is up for sale?  I'm not trying to start rumors, I just would like to know, are there any signs? Slash in payroll, for instance?  Is there anywhere to look on net?

Maybe she changed her ways
Well, she wasn't like that before. She was very rude towards my situation and could care less about my husband being in surgery.
Just a little ways down the page is a not so
good post about them.
If you are being told 2 different ways to
do things, then send them to your supervisor and ask them which is correct. Make sure you send examples.
In a couple different ways
DISCLAIMER: To avoid enduring what Gourdpainter is going through, let me qualify that this is my own recollection of the events as they unfolded along with my own opinion as to the reasoning for and the implications of said event.

Keep in mind that this all came after staff dismissals and pay reductions a step above us on the MT hierarchy, and after a couple of weeks spent reassuring the MTs that pay cuts were just a vile, nasty rumor. Until it happened in a 2-step manner (and they were the only ones that saw this 2-step as a dance move all the way to the bank).

First, they reassessed the tiers that a particular tiers that accounts fell into and many were decreased at least one level. If your primary were in a particular tier, you lost 0.005 cpl for each tier it dropped (regardless of what tier your secondary was in or how often you typed the secondary more than the primary).

In addition, all pay was 'equilibrated to reflect a global economy', and the pay cuts there ranged about 10%.

So if you had the misfortune to be an account that had been reassessed down 2 levels, you were also equilibrated down a bit more.

Note that this is straight typing. I somehow had managed to avoid VR, so I don't know how that pay scale was impacted. I do know, however, that after wending its way through the system, the stuff that I was getting was nearly impossible to type. At the place I have now landed, even new to the account and platform, I was doing 200 lph; I was lucky if I could even make 125/hour.
Works both ways

And people should be able to respond. The trouble by this board is that if you aren't willing to bash your company or your profession, if you try to interject another point of view, you are not welcome here.
You know, I never actually counted my lines myself, I just always figured my company's line count
Boy was I wrong!  I just went through and totaled all of my lines, then compared them to the line counter, and guess what!  It's wrong!  Can you guess who I work for?  SOFTSCRIPT!!!
Nice company, but they use the DocQScribe software that MQ uses. Lost too many lines with it, so
s
Only require 400 lines completed within 24 hours....good company...

God works in mysterious ways -- sm
I was offered a job at OSi last year and accepted then something made me change my mind and go with TT instead.  And am I ever glad I did given these new revelations.  Seems like the bigger the MTSO the more trouble they get themselves into.
Good gravy, it can't be it both ways (sm)
Either money's going to the store or the store's making all the money and I've seen both versions of it.

It just amazes me the nasty crap people talk when they're safely anonymous.
They pay great production and they pay other ways..
Yes, I have the ability to make what I made in house at the hospital those years ago. And yes, they do treat me like a human being and more. When I become worried for whatever reason (mostly it was my schedule with kids) they worked with me so quickly it made my head spin, and made me know that I was worth working with because they intend on being my home until I retire. They have tiered incentive best I've seen around in years and bonuses for quality, differential, etc. I am not the MTSO owner or management, and I would crab believe me if anything were amiss or I would not answer at all. Nice pays my bills and benefits the company and owner so they can pay their bills... the nicer management is to an MT the better their company and this company knows it. Very wise in my opinion...
What are some specific ways that you are appreciated?
nm
You might wanna look down a ways. BrokeMT can't seem to get paid by them.
I'm pretty sure she is not going to recommend them.
And MQ is still trying to figure out ways to keep accounts and MTs since they played hardball with
everyone and got caught. I dont think they will ever overcome this situation entirely in my opinion. Our office has certainly lost accounts and has more threatening to leave. I dont think there is one happy person in that office anymore where I work. It is pathetic and on it goes.
Used to work there. Terrible experience. They may have changed their ways, tho
xx
Not true - Amphion may suck in some ways but they always paid on time.
x
Mine pays both ways, hourly plus line incentive over certain amount.
x
You are most definitely upset that your Bush **s-kicking ways have rendered your eyes caught in the
Without MTs, companies would not exist. You and many others have no regard nor respect for hard-working MTS. You can't take it with you. I feel sorry for you. Do the right thing...and, you know what that is.
1800 lines is easily achieved. I average 300-340 lines per hour. nm
x
10 lines per minute = 1500 lines for 150 minutes - average. nm
x
I average 1200-1400 lines per day with a national, and am only getting around 600-800 lines per day.
It's been this way since the day before Thanksgiving. I've been doing this for almost 30 years now, and more often than from Thanksgiving until the new year is the slowest time of the year. I have some months where I am swamped with up to 2000 lines per day. I stash that little extra money, and take advantage of a handful of extremely slow days this time of the year to actually cook dinner, decorate for Christmas, or do Christmas shopping. I actually anticipate this slow time every year and have grown to enjoy the breathing time. Any time I have attempted to pick up extra work with another company to supplement these slow times, the minute I get adjusted to the new accounts, etc. I have no time to finish all of my work because my full time job with national gets slammed again. Hang in there if you can, and hopefully your work will pick up significantly around New Years.
