Only from my experience with union workers.

But if no union shop, no union representation
You can have a trade group represented by a union, as your husband is, but if he doesn't work in a union shop (company), the union can't represent him at his place of employment. Look at nurses, for example - there is a union for nurses, but the vast majority of nurses are not union members, because their places of employment are not unionized. So it's irrelevant to the majority of nurses that there is a union to represent them.
Hey Retired WMX
Is that really you?  We miss you so much, our ShortHand guru.  I sent you an email.
No. I am retired. NM
Goldbird
My husband is a retired
truck driver.  The truck driving industry seems to have gone the way of the MT business.  I wish you well though.  Sometimes I'm glad I'm old and really don't have to work anymore if I don't want to.  Gonna go paint my gourds!!
Happy! thought you retired. nm

Retired or retrained, probably. I don't think they care sm
what anything looks like or where it is typed, as long as it is CHEAP.
I'll be retired or dead by that time. Let the

I directed comments to never worked on VR and those retired
I don’t think, therefore, this was meant for you, directing my comments elsewhere. Sorry your platform is bad and if you read my other postings you will see I don’t assume, tell others their's probably just not as good a system. I definitely am not an assumer.
Aha !! Retired and painting gourds as a hobby? Envy you. nm

Seriously, gourdpainter, I have been in the same boat as these people, you are retired, remember?
When I had to work and make a living I took most things that were thrown my way, because I had to have a job. If my boss told me I had time off and then changed their minds and I did not have in writing, then that is what I went along with. I hardly think now since you are retired you have the ability to tell others about what they should do. I have retirees tell me they think I should retire but now I am saying to you, let these people decide on their own what they want to do and it is different when you can afford to sit back and say that. You get retirement, they don’t!
My hubs retired as a fire captain. Great benefits, thank God! nm

any QT workers

frequent this board. How is pay, benefits, work load. Still owned by Tampa couple?

MDI-MD workers, can you tell me
if they accept dial-up connections or satellite?  Don't find it on their website. thanks.
Workers' Comp, IC @ MQ
Have any IC's ever filed a WC claim against MQ? If so, what was the course and/or outcome?
They are looking for workers -- but NO WORK
s
First of all, the auto workers SM

have been protected from the realities of the world for decades now.  I have contact with them daily-you should hear them cry and complain over having to pay $4 a pay period to cover their family's health insurance.  Co-pay for a Rx went up from $2 to $5?  Oh, the complaining about what a raw deal they get.

These people all have cottages to summer in, multiple vehicles for business, leisure and sports and the rest of us have slaved.  No company EVER promised to take care of its employees for life.  We MTs have known that for years and now these people also can find this out.

To All happy IC workers..
Are you satisfied as an IC and not having benefits because you have another job that pays benefits or are dependents of someone how has medical benefits?
I think that off-shore workers

You just summed that up for me.  I am glad you told the truth in that you like using slaves to transcribe who are none the wiser.

As an IC, I choose my own hours, days, lines, etc.  You as an MTSO consider that whining, when it is the law.

So if you sleep at night knowing you are abusing and mistreating offshore workers, then good for you!  It actually just proves you have no heart.

Another point I'd like to make is that if you need subs to make you money, you must be a horrible Transcriptionist yourself.

Any doctor that old me he doesn't care who types, when, and how would be off of my list of good doctors and I wouldn't waste my time.  That doctor obviously doesn't care about people but only his own pocket and that would include you as the MTSO.  That same doctor that told you he/she doesn't care will drop you as an MTSO in a minute when he/she finds a better deal.

Always remember, we reap what we sow.  Try and have a good day, master!

Any Oracle workers here?
Am I the only one at Oracle (OTI) that constantly and consistently runs out of work? I'm not just talking about the usual holiday lull, I mean pretty much everyday? Because I do. I don't think I've had a paycheck yet that's been over 400 dollars. I'm on three accounts (count em '3') and there's still hardly ever enough work. I keep asking my QA ppl to put me on yet another account and they say there aren't anymore openings but then I get emails from them saying how the workload is heavy in this account, heavy in that account... etc.

Why why why is this so hard? Any advice? Anybody?

My request for workers
Apparently all of you who are so disgusted with my posting are so busy that you have time to be on this chat board. I, am quite busy and do not have time to filter through hundreds of resumes, which I have received in the past from a posting. Therefore I was upfront and honest about what I needed and what I would pay. NO, this is not subcontracted work, this is a full fledged hospital account, if it is any of your business. Spend time working not running other people down that you know nothing about.
netmed workers
I tested for the company called Net Med Transcription and was just wondering if anyone out there works for them and if they like, dislike them?
C&C Transcription does pay it's workers
Please don't confuse CC Transcription with C&C Transcription, they are two totally separate companies. Also C&C Transcription does NOT offer direct deposit.

Marie
It's just one more way of cheating workers.

Any Freedom Type workers here? - sm

I've heard nice things, read nice things.  Do you like working here?  Do you enjoy the work?  Set your own hours and workload?

TIA!

I think it is great to get to know more of our "co-workers". (sm)
My elderly mom lives with me, my grandchildren are here before and after school and I go to Wal-Mart and Price Chopper a couple of times a week. That is it for me. I love the idea of getting to know some of my fellow workers. Winter is an extremely crafty season, hopefully will find others with similar interests.

Workers of the World, Unite!
I agree 100%. They accuse John Edwards of engaging in class warfare, and I say why not? The time has come to put an end to all this ugliness. Golden country, indeed.
I'd have to agree with you. Yes, you get a few disgruntled workers who probably
aren't qualified to be doing this work and get reprimanded or just plain unhappy and like to complain, then think twice about their opinion on a company, but for God's sake when people tell you that they aren't not getting paid on time, correct, or AT ALL, why in the world would you consider even taking a job for them.  I agree with the poster in that it does reach a level of stupidity and companies that have those kind of unethic and dishonest tactics just prey on stupid people who should have known better to begin with. I think everyone has a right to voice their opinion and experience, good or bad, and yes, some of it take with a grain of salt BUT if it involves your livelihood, a paycheck, then pay attention. I just don't get people either. Here's your sign
SINCE WHEN IS EXPLOITATION OF WORKERS PROPRIETARY?..sm

Are workers for NetMed IC's or employees?
nm
I don't think anybody's wrath is directed at workers
For the most part, it seems the barbs are going right where they belong- at management. The closest anyone has come to faulting the Indian workers themselves is the wage that they make, which they have no control over anymore than we do.
10 reports per hour for QA workers???
Is it reasonable for an MTSO to expect QA to QA 10 reports per hour....when working on several acute care accounts? For the most part it is blanks only, but sometimes there are also full listens.
And they hired 300 Indian workers with plans for

Spheris Inc. of Franklin, Tennessee, has hired 300 people for its new center in Coimbatore, in India's southern Tamil Nadu state, and plans to add another 700 workers in the next year, company president and chief executive Steven Simpson told reporters.

Employees now, now workers comp needed...nm

Why positions cannot be filled. Not due to lack of workers,
Is it because Microsoft cannot meet employment demands based on available US similarly trained workers without paying US expected pay.  I am sure if Microsoft was offering a decent wage those positions could be filled.  But they will not be filled with US employees if Microsoft is only willing to pay offshore pay rates.
this is the last place I'd guess fellow workers to be...
during work hours in order to get an answer. Doesn't anyone work?
not to mention being discourteous to your co-workers this comes across as being a total ah
:
Confirm WX post, much more for hard workers. NM

Most of the weekend workers you listed make more than some
of the MTs on the board, so are they not getting better pay than the MT? Certainly, the baby-delivering doctor, the cops, the tip-receiving club works, blah, blah, blah.

Since your reply doesn't even address the actual question being asked, how selfish of you to take up valuable space on the board to vent your indignation about others.
Yes, a day early!!!
x
Sorry about that, it's still early...nm

do they provide computers even wtih partitime workers?
i need to know if they just send computers to fulltime workers. do they subtract every month for the computer that they will be sending the home-based MT? how much?
That should read "no workers comp needed" sorry
nm
Ther e is a IT company in California who brings workers
puts them on board, sails out past the 12-mile rule into international waters, they work a few weeks, then brings them back to shore for leave, rinse and repeat.

This is not a rumor.
Lots of Indian workers use "American"-sounding

I have always been an early worker but now..sm
there is NO work and when it does come in it seems everyone is waiting like me to grab it and then there is NO work as there were only a few reports. I addressed these concerns only to be told I needed to be more flexible.
I was asking who the one who paid early is! nm
nm
To early riser
This is exactly who the posts are talking about. Gosh, wonder if this is the only 1 who apparently does this time after time because most seem to know who it is.
whoops, go FOR it, too early
xx
They release you from QA early because they
to review the reports correctly. It is sad. You get what you pay for. Plus you can type all you want from the first day with no regard to quality and I wonder how many slip through without going through QA first?
Retiring early...

First, how do you know the year I was born?? I have already checked with Social Security, and I can retire at the age of 62, 66 or 70 (according to my year of birth).  In addition, I have checked with my financial advisor/stock broker, and he advises me that, yes it would benefit me if I wait until I am 66, as I would get more money, but I do not HAVE to wait until then.  Furthermore, he explained the whole scenario if I work while I am drawing SS. I can work, but I cannot make over 14,130/year.  Whatever amount I do make over that, they will deduct it from my SS.  This money is put aside for me (so to speak). Then, when I reach age 66, I will then be distributed any monies (on my SS check) that I made over and above that 14,130/year, over the rest of my lifetime. So I will kind of get a raise.  If you go to the SS website it explains all of this.  So, the question is, do I want to continue typing my brains out; I don't think so.  I will probably retire at 64-65 and do something enjoyable with my life, but it won't have anything to do with typing, guaranteed!
