Why move all the work for Heartland overseas, are the MTs overseas that much better?
Why? Why do this. It is my understanding that in time that work will be coming right back. Are the overseas MT's in Banglador or wherever better. Don't the companies that offshore worry about the quality of the work, HIPPA issues, patient's confidentiality, etc. Why don't they care? Mark my words, those MT's are not better than us, they have US editors, etc to help them out. They cannot land a new account US-based and compete with any US mt's. What a sad day. I pray for all the Heartland MTs.
Yes they do send work overseas and do not hide this fact. There is plenty of work and they do pay
well. Overall, I like having work as I have been at places where you had to fight to keep busy so this works for me.
Spheris sends most work to India. SM
They are most certainly NOT a company to work for, if you are a single mom.
Does anyone know the name of a transcription company in Maryland that sends all of its work to
India. Just curious.
Any company who wants to stay in business sends work out
It is called a blended model. Hospitals are demanding a better price and US companies must offer offshore work that is edited by US MTs to compete. It is just like voice recognition, a company must offer this platform or lose the ability to bid on the work. It is not for every hospital and it is not for every situation. Therefore, if a company does not have the ability to offer a lower price with non-domestic labor plus have a voice rec option, they will find themselves unable to compete in tomorrow's marketplace. Those who cannot compete will lose market share and continue to run out of work. Those who can compete will continue to hire MTs and grow market share.
Absolutely, sends work to India, Phillipines...sm
She's something alright, sending work offshore instead of paying someone in the US a workable wage. Name of company is Another Medical Must...owned by Renee Lella....look her up on Google and see how that's worked for her in the past, with a major leak of patient records due to dealing with the Indian company and their MTs. She trains her MTs most of the time using her cell phone in the car while doing errands or picking up kids...horrible. Bad, bad experience, never again. She looks at this board occasionally and still posts for job openings once in a while, but always under an alias or different name, sometimes maria...sometimes another name. Shifty.
Transcend sends all the good work to India and leaves all the
garbage for the MTs in the States so they can keep the indian slime working. n donkeys are that do the work. Transcend is not a good place to work
And you're okay with working for a company that sends most of its work to India and
whose workforce is predominantly Indian? You're okay with the loss of American jobs, the falling recession we are in and the falling economy due in big part to the offshoring of American jobs? How okay will you be when you lose your job to an Indian and you have to apply for food stamps and unemployment?
Sell-out MTs like you are the reason good MTs cannot make a decent wage anymore, why good MTs cannot find a good job anymore, and why sweats shops in third world countries are thriving. How do you look at yourself in the mirror?
Focus Infomatics employs 800 American MTs and over 3000 Indian MTs. Tech support is in India. The company itself is still run by the same Indian man who started the company and sold out to Nuance. He made a bundle when he sold and he is still making a bundle running the company while he pays his own countrymen and woman peanuts! He's selling out his own people and you are selling out yours! On second thought, I guess you belong at Focus with your own kind!
Medware not only sends work offshore, but has offices in Bangalore to train MTs there.nm

How much work is still going overseas. Anyone know.
:
overseas work
I agree - these companies and hospitals supporting to send work overseas make it sound so wonderful - cheaper rates and fast TAT. BUT have you ever read some of the work that domestic/US MTs and QAs have to repair? So the hospital gets a break on the costs from the MT Companies but who has to fix the mess? I frankly do not want my medical records going off to India to be incorrect when it comes back. I remember one in particular where the overseas MT put PORN instead of PRN. How would that patient like to see that in their record? I hope the new administration imposes fines to heavily that it will stop these companies from supporting overseas companies and give the work back to the US MTs - we need jobs here too and we should be taking care of us first ! Remember those cheap rates - you get what you pay for ! I remember getting a good salary and even Christmas bonuses 10 years ago but those days are LONG gone now.
Merry Christmas to all and let's hope the New Year brings much happiness with jobs and decent wages.
All I know is that they send work overseas. nm

MDI does NOT send work overseas.

even if they send work overseas...
Please help me find a company to work for that has WORK and pays on time. That is all I ask at this point.
Business Acquisitions and Overseas Work
When you are trying to be one of the top 3 International MTSO's you buy every company that you can buy that makes sense financially after due diligence has taken place. Believe me - if a purchase is in the works, you won't hear any corporate announcement until the ink is dry on the paper (or the paper is torn up), which will be way after the word is leaked to the street. If SPI is trying to acquire other MTSO's to get into the ring with the big boys - so be it. There isn't anything any one of you can do about it except keep your head down and your line counts and quality up. Quit fretting that your work is going overseas. Transcription is going global. It's a fact, not a fear. A great MT is a great MT wherever his/her chair happens to be.
Precyse QA does not edit the overseas work. QA
out.
I really wonder how much cheaper it is to send work overseas. When you
think about it, IC here gets about 4 cpl for VR and about 8 or 9 for straight typing. Overseas they have to go through a middle man or whoever owns the services and you cant tell me they arent getting a decent cut of the cpl and paying 3 cpl or so to their people. Just my thoughts. I bet the cost is very close anymore to what we earn. I see Delta is bringing its reservation call service back here from India because of all the complaints from US customers. I would expect it is the benefits here for employees that causes a problem costwise for MTs.
I'd bet my boots it's work that is going overseas to India or Pakistan. nm
I have no respect for companies that send work overseas
Don't you think we have enough people right here in the US without jobs? Instead of paying a decent wage for an MT, companies get greedy and undercut our workforce of extremely talented and hard working MTs of which a large percentage are single moms.
I would agree. Another case for sending work overseas (sm)
Those MTs work their schedules. Ask any MTSO or management of a national transcription company, and you'll find out it's like pulling teeth to get MTs with good work ethic to actually work the hours they are contracted to work. This is another reason that overseas transcription is used.
You may not believe me, but this *is* a growing trend in the MT industry. MTs that are both skilled and have a good work ethic are a rare find. I don't understand why - perhaps it is so many new MTs expecting working at home to be a walk in the park. I've definitely seen a downward spiral in the past 10 years.
OUTSOURCE OVERSEAS, OUT OF WORK ALL THE TIME - GOOD LUCK (nm)

sad part is, those decent docs likely have no idea their work is being sent overseas. nm
x
Such a lame excuse too - I'm so sure the CLIENT ASKED to have their work outsourced overseas!
They do think we're idiots, don't they?
Transcend bought MDI, so if Transcend sends work offshore, so does MDI. nm

No, I work for MedQuist but...
I was reading old posts going back a few years and couldn't believe the actual owner posted on here so many times! Just wondered if she still does that...
If you work for MedQuist...
I just received the computer today. I thought it was going to be JUST a computer. I had no idea they were sending a monitor, speakers, headset, pedal, etc. I'm feeling quite a bit overwhelmed because this is a second job for me. Is this stuff to be used ONLY for Medquist work? I'm talking about the monitor, pedal, etc. I know the computer is only for MedQuist work. Is it okay to not use some of their stuff? I mean, my pedal, speakers, and monitor are just fine. Where would I find the room for two of everything?
The manual keeps talking about a modem. On the phone I was told they wanted me to have high-speed internet access. Am I correct to assume then that I won't need a modem for anything? I certainly hope so because since going high speed we got rid of our phone and went to cell phone only.
I'm also feeling very overwhelmed looking through the big manual. My training starts on Thursday. How am I ever to learn everything in that manual by then? They haven't confirmed my start date but I'm thinking possibly as early as this Sunday. Please tell me I'm not the only overwhelmed by all the stuff that was sent.

if you work for MedQuist..
Yes, they send everything! I don't know about the computer being only for Medquist work or not, you always could ask. I do keep mine strictly for Medquist because I have my own computer as well. I put my two work stations diagonal to eachother (in sort of an L-shape - 2 desks in the corner of my office). I do all my work on the MedQuist equipment and then swivel on my chair (without moving my chair) to my personal computer to look anything up that I need to. Very handy! I also do all "my own stuff" on my own computer. You need a phone line, unless it has changed in three years, because they can access your computer through the phone lines to load it with stuff, and to train you. I also have high speed cable but sometimes if there are software problems, they get me to hook up the phone modem so they have access and can fix it. I am using my own speakers etc. I just think they send you everything because they want to make sure you have all the equipment you need. Just think of them as spares! I browsed through the manual but don't be afraid, the staff really do help you alot! I really enjoyed my training period and had help whenever I needed it. Even once they "set me free on my own" I still was able to call for help if I had questions. Enjoy! I am! :)
re:if you work for medquist
I've been on high speed internet through my cable company for over a year & have had Tech support work on my Medquist computer w/o having a phone line.
I'm strictly on my cell now that all my accounts have gone to the DEP platform, so have cancelled my land line w/o any issues when MQ needs to work on my system.
It seems so overwhelming when you start, but it does get to be pretty easy soon, it's the best platform I've been on yet. Good luck
Did you work at Medquist or
somewhere else before you went to Transtech?
work for Medquist?
Is Medquist a good company to work for?
just guessing - you work for medquist...

I work for MedQuist, can it be any worse?!!! nm
Anyone work for the Medquist Illinois office?
Just wondering how they are.
What spell-checks work with Transhealth, Precyse and Medquist? nm

As a whole.. nice people to work for, decent benefits but the get off/on the system, work/no work,
is maddening. I couldnt pay my bills or even work the schedule I was assigned. They would ask us not to work until work built up in the evenings and I specifically wanted to work days as I have kids etc. It just didnt work out for me but to each his own. It just seems there has to be a better balance in this business that what is happening.
I did speak with my manager. Work was promised. No work there when I needed to work.
I see the reports everyday too, but when I get work it is of bad quality, then there is no work unless I work diffrent shifts. Thank you.
My liaison always says to work on secondary when primary is low on work/no work. n/m

MedQuist board is now set up. See Medquist link to the left.

Link is also below.
MQ definitely sends it out.
X
Yes, MQ definitely sends it out and
my prediction is that one of these days they will send it ALL out. I got out while the getting was good!
Another one, Interpro, sends a lot of theirs to India
as well as other locations outside the US
If STM sends e-mail to her 4 accounts
saying system is slow and then send another saying that if system freezes and we lose a report we can get paid for that, that isn't an ISP issue. It doesn't matter if it is just one account, it happens to be my account and that is enough of an issue to me.
That's going to be nuts...I do ASR work too, plus work split shifts. We'll NEED a spread shee

Work is easy, very nice owner, pays weekly, work in Word.
A majority of at-home MT is overflow work with in-house getting the bulk of the work. If they clean

Pay is always on time, direct deposit, very nice management to work with, and DQS platform, work
load normally busy, but low now because of the summer slow down on my accounts. Sound an issue on some accounts, but not others. Overall, wonderful company.
That is a BIG problem at TransTech is leads assigning work, rather than letting the work flow
This TT MT just admitted to that fact. It has been very obvious, as so easy to tell how work comes into our que and then gets pulled out as fast as it came in and replaced with YUKKY dictators. VERY frustrating to us other TT MT's who take the JUNK that is NOT assigned to other MT's, such as this poster.
Ever thought of a home health care aide? Usually paid training and start work right away. Can work
m
My MTSO sends us normals for those few doctors
that you them. They are usually a fill in the blank type thing with the doctors only giving the blanks, so there isn't much to mess up. We do have a few normals that need to be modified and there are only a few MTs that get these dictators, because of the same issue your MTSO, that changes are not made, etc. I am allowed to create my own normals and do. If I have a doctor that needs to have the same normal, but occasionally does change things, I only have my normal including what is ALWAYS the same and then I have macros for statements that are frequently dictated that I can use to piece together the rest of the document.
I can't imagine my company forbiding us to use normals. My company wants the MTs to be productive, because if they are producing they are making money and if they are making good money they are happy and the MTSO will have good retention of MTs, which they have had. It also benefits the MTSO to have high producing MTs, so that they can have fewer MTs and less costs/hassle.
That's so the clients won't notice when AcuQuist sends
them, of course). It'll all look the same --- like it was dictated by a child, and transcribed by an orangutan.
I guess that's the tack their business model is taking: 'We're a player in the global game because we've lowered our standards to their level of mediocrity and ineptitude.'
Absolutely not! I work for the best MTSO. I am have been so blessed to work for the small company I
I will share this about the MTSO I work for. I called her late last Wednesday night after Church and told her I was compelled to help out with Hurricaine Katrina in some way and an opportunity arose for a small group from my Church to go to Louisianna this coming week. Would she be able to cover my work. She told me no problem without any hesitation and even donated money for the trip.
And I am sure there are plenty of good companies out there to work for. To compare us to migrant workers is just not right.
