Heartland. I can't wait until they crash and burn. sm
I loved it until they decided to screw us all over in the end. No loyalty at all.
Heartland. I can't wait until they crash and burn.
How were you screwed? I worked there also and while I did I received fair treatment, good pay and great benefits. They gave me 60 days to find another job and paid me when work was low. I think they were always fair. What more did they owe you? If you had been offered a job earning more, etc, while with Heartland, would you have stayed out of loyalty? I'm sad that I - an alot of others - don't have a job there anymore, but I don't hope they crash and burn.
I owned a MT company and the challenges were enormous!! It's a market-driven economy and certainly companies aren't charging lower than they have to...hospitals call the shots and MT companies are competing to get the business. This is driving down revenues for companies that can't change wages to employees. I closed my business and it was no reflection on my loyalty to my MTs. It was a necessity because my bank could no longer be loyal to me. Do you think its personal? How long can a company continue to lose money? It's the way of the planet now and the best thing we can hope is that our industry completes this swing through these low price times and Heartland becomes a company that purchases labor in the U.S. again. I would rejoin them in a minute! In the meantime, let's do ourselves a service with the future in mind: improve our skills, show up for work, stop complaining, and produce awesome reports. That's how to compete for our jobs!! Not bellyaching.
Wait until you test and the recruiter makes offer. I think you may be pleasantly surprised. I was

I don't think I can wait that long!
I haven't talked to anyone from Amphion, but their web site info looks great, especially the make your own schedule and holidays being completely up to the MT.
How long to wait?
Recently I tested and passed with a national company that has had quite a few advertisements on this site recently. I immediately received an e-mail saying I had passed the test and when would be a good time for a telephone interview, which I answered...that was last Tuesday and I haven't heard anything. I'm sure their HR department is very busy, but how long should I wait to e-mail them again, or try to call? I really need this job and it's a good fit for my experience (PT). Don't want to be a pest, but don't want to fall through the cracks, either. Thanks!
Gone too. Finally, after long wait.
Too much BS. Either tons of emails, work, work, work for your incentive, not that you EVER see it in your paycheck. Send emails and get your ticket, automatic response, and never an answer from anyone who should answer. Pays promised one day and delivered 4 days later. Done with it and glad to be leaving. Poor management, poor communication, if any, and poor everything. RUN.
Who can afford to wait that long?
No way would I take such a job - what happens if they NEVER get paid? You work for free, that's what.
It's not common at all - you'd be better of getting your own accounts!
How long to wait to start new job?
I was offered a new job Monday and sent in the completed paperwork as required right away via fax. I got a welcome letter the same day. I have heard nothing since and did email once thanking them for the position and indicated I was ready to start immediately. Still, I have heard absolutely nothing since. How long should I wait to actually get started? I was told that they were growing and I could have as much work as I wanted. Any advice?
Pay is strange with a LONG wait...nm
xx
I wouldn't wait that long. If I cannot be on a regular
What are they paying, once a month? So, for the whole month of May, you draw pay on June 13th?
Not for me.
Can you tell me how long you have to wait before you qualify for insurance?
Thanks, and can I ask how many lines you do weekly (average) on their accounts? I noticed it has varied for me among diffent companies.
Call now. A week is certainly long enough to wait. nm
s
How long did you wait for training at Transcend?
Just wondering what the typical time frame is from install to training?
Transtech....how long of a wait for insurance?
Transcend...how long of a wait for insurance?
WTH do they wait so long? is it a form of torture?
lazy?!?!?!
Wait...let me guess. Shapin right? Can go for long without mentioning them!
If they are making the $ it is either because of working round the clock or whizzing through with poor quality. I am thinking whizzing through because in past postings they are very busy with posting negative things here. I make 4 cpl and listen to everything as required. I do well, but to do it right and be thorough you would not make big $ at 1.5.
Anyone tested and heard back from DTS America. How long was your wait? nm

makes me sad (this is pretty long)
I remember when I first started in Medical Records, we were trained in the thinking that those records were almost sacred and that it was very important that they be accurate and completely confidential. We were practically expected to guard those babies with our lives. IMHO, offshoring has made a mockery of the whole profession and a big fat joke out of the HIPAA laws. It's become totally about the money and to heck with patient privacy or pride in the printed report. The industry has caved in to it for all the wrong reasons and I truly believe that with medical terminology, meds, tests, etc. changing constantly, there's no way VR will ever be perfected to the point that editors won't be needed, but as for offshoring of medical transcription, I think it's one of the biggest embarrassments to this country. Sorry, but I place a lot more importance on my medical records than I do on where a blouse at Walmart was made. I wish we could do more to stick up for the profession we've all taken the time to learn and respect. Unfortunately, it's usually some sort of financial officer that makes these decisions at hospitals and not the medical records managers.
may be good now, wait until they Global your account, too. I left there long ago, happy I did. nm

Any company that makes you wait to get paid until they get paid by the client
is not a company you want to get involved with. That's part of being an MTSO, figuring out how to cover your payroll while waiting to get paid. I would stay away!
No problem :) No matter how long, it is too long for me - I am broke the day after payday. Kids wi
do that to you!
I know that they have worked very hard to make sure that checks are never late and I can say that in the past two years, I have had one problem (2 days late) and in the past 18 months, they have all been on payday and perfect.
I know that there are a lot of hard feelings in MT in general. I also know firsthand (and I am not mgmt) how hard KS has worked to get things going good.
I would not want to walk in an MTSO's shoes for any amount of money, but that's just me. I like to finish my work for the day, forget about work when not working and get paid on payday. I never want the other things that go with mgmt or owning a company of any kind :)
They definitely rip you off with your line count. Figured this out long ago and quit long ago

What really sucks is that I looked for a LONG, long time -sm
before joining DRC - wanted a highly reputable, not-too-big co. that was LOCAL, and that treated its MTs humanely. I'm very happy with DRC & had planned to stay with them permanently.
Heartland?
Has anyone heard of a company called Heartland Transcription out of Toledo? A friend of mine has been talking to them and wondered about it, so I told her that since I was online right now I would ask. Thanks!

Medical transcription business booming
Anshuman Daga
Bangalore, February 20
Medical transcription firm HealthScribe India, which uses India’s large pool of English-speaking graduates to enter medical data on US patients, expects its revenue to nearly double annually over coming years.
“I expect our turnover to grow at 80 percent compounded annual growth rate for the next few years,” HealthScribe’s Chief Executive Officer Tony Hales told Reuters in an interview.
The company, a joint venture between Max India and Healthscribe Inc of the United States, currently does $6 million in business a year.
The booming medical transcription business has become a $ 6 billion industry in the USA.
Transcription professionals key in medical data such as patient histories or treatment into computers after doctors in the USA phone the transcription centre and verbally record their observations. Once keyed into computers the data is transferred back to US hospitals via e-mail.
Global Centre
India has become a global hub for medical record transcription business with the establishment of high-speed telecom links and its large number of English-speaking graduates.
The fact that wages in this field in India are only 15 percent of US salaries is the biggest draw for firms such as HealthScribe to set up shop in India, Hales said.
“Our (HealthScribe’s) only limitation for growth has been time and experience,” Hales said. The company was not adding more than 75 to 100 employees a month to ensure that the quality of work is maintained, he explained.
Hales said it takes about four years for a local employee to match the quality of work done by his counterpart in the USA.
Other foreign companies in the same industry with operations in India include US-based HeartLand Information Systems and CBay Systems (India).
The growth of such services has been fuelled by rising demand to maintain basic hospital data and records and use these as legally recognised documents for US doctors to support medical decisions. Reuters

Very sad, well-written. Please, please, forward this to former Senator John Edwards at OneAmericaCommittee.com. Please browse the site and familiarize yourselves with the work the Senator has been doing. I believe HE REALLY CARES. Please anyone who has the time, browse the One America site. You can sign up for updates from them and help by signing petitions and just spreading the word. It's time for Americans to take back America, don't you think? Thanks all. God bless you all who have been treated in this fashion by Heartland, but consider that some way, in some fashion, the ones who did this to you WILL get their just rewards.
Heartland
The we take care of our people was supposed to be in parentheses but didn't show up in my post.

I am sorry for all of you. I had the miserable experience of working for Heartland a few years ago. I stayed only 6 months so I didn't have to reimburse them $2000 for their flying me to Toledo for training (what a joke that was) me. For those of you who want to write their clients, be careful. It technically could be a violation of HIPAA. Instead, write the newspapers where the client is located. You can bet that their staff members read the letters to the editors. A letter to the client could just get buried by the administration. I know of at least 2 instances where a client was outsourcing to India, but their staff was unaware of it. Do not, of course, mention the name of the client. Call it a local medical facility or a medical facility located in this state or area if there is only one medical facility in that particular town... something like that. It has been a few years since I worked for Heartland, but while with the company, I edited reports typed in India. If any of you want to E-mail me with the city and state (no other information) where a client is located, I will be happy to write a letter to an Editor too. Best of luck to all of you.

HCR Manor Care is the mother company for Heartland, Inc., they are NOT BROKE by any stretch of the imagination.
Heartland MTs.....I want to ......sm
tell you how sorry I am for your situation. Take some satisfaction in the knowledge that eventually Heartland will realize they made a grave mistake by outsourcing all their work overseas.
If you are interested in working for a 100% US company, perhaps I can help you. Just drop me an email through the board here. Good luck to all of you!!
Heartland
YOU are so right. I have said all along from all the posts I've seen from MQ to anyone else. They cry gimmee, gimmee, gimmee. They don't get what they want, so they bad mouth the company, but OMG, don't even think of working on weekends (except maybe every once in a while), or a holiday, or after 5 pm. If that's the schedule they have been looking for, they are in the wrong field. You can't watch soaps and eat bons bons while you transcribe. I basically work the same schedule I did IN a hospital, usually all day Saturday and I work from 5 a.m until I have met my own personal quota. This is a good field but I think it has been trashed by those who thought it was a cushy way to make easy money. Wrong, wrong, wrong. It takes as much dedication to do well at home, if not more. I agree some of the companies have taken advantage, but by and large, a lot of these people do a lot of stuff they wouldn't do or couldn't get away with while working on site.

I am suppose to work today but who knows what will be in store for me. Standby or work.

Why do the hospitals that contract with Heartland allow the work to be in India? I know there are hospitals out there that do not want the medical records overseas.
Not from Heartland but if it was me sm
and I could afford it, I would take the rest of the summer off and collect unemployment.

Does anyone have any recent information? TIA

Wondering who bought them...

Hi,
Heard a rumor that Heartland is going to close down its HBT in India. Can anyone confirm it as a rumor or otherwise.
Heartland reply
I worked for that company for about 4 months and they were a JOKE!! I am talking in the first few months I had 8 different accounts and they were constantly changing the formatting/something about them daily and you had to run off about 150 pages everyday. I NEVER once got the same doctor EVER!! I typed on 4 different accounts all in the same day and they all had different formatting. It was a nightmare! I would not go back to them if they paid 20 cents a line!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!
