Just wondering if anyone has heard back. It's be nice if I would hear back, whether I passed or failed but sometimes you never do when you apply at these companies and I find that frustrating. I'd rather know one way or the other so I can keep moving on.

The only time I tried to apply at Diskriter I had to take a transcription test and it was horrible.
The sound quality was so bad that I just could not take the test. Even though I have 14 years of experience in acute care, they would not hire me because I could not do the transcription test. I would have been happy with just a written, or even a transcription test with better sound quality. I wonder how many people were put off by that. Maybe it was just me. 
Just because you apply to one of the companies
doesn't mean you will get hired. KS makes sure that MTs have all the work they want before they hire new MTs. I only have one account and could work on it 24/7 and still not run out of work. I know that KS has signed contracts on 2 large accounts to start very soon and are in talks with 3 other accounts, plus there are some new accounts that have needed more MTs than anticipated.
I can't speak for every account, but I know the work is available and you can get backup accounts if you need them.

Before I apply, I have a few questions. I have better results asking here than the companies. sm
I do know to take it all with a grain of salt. Here are my questions:
Do they send work offshore?
IC or employee?
Line rate range for radiology?
Is there a lot of work.
Only one rad account worries me, especially as I heard that they are competing for this account with a large company. I cannot find out who that company is though, only that they are large. The person I know at the hospital that I asked did not have any name except QT, but she said that the other company is very strong and may end up with it.
This is so unsettling. I am totally confused and just wish things would stay the same :) Sigh.

I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Does anybody else get upset when companies that test you
and exchange e-mails with you does not have the common courtesy to at least let you know if a position was given to somebody else after the decision was made. I HATE THAT. Just wanted to know if it bugged anybody else.

you can hear so that you can actually type what is being said or are they all so distorted so bad that no one could possibly make out what is being said??? I currently started looking and so far I haven't gotten a test yet that I can possibly make out more than half of what is being said. I am starting to get discouraged.

Honestly, I've been hired by companies that didn't test me.
I did not like those jobs one bit. You start out immediately being stressed because they're out of TAT and desperate for people. The work quality was terrible and I mean worse than any other place I've ever worked. With your CMT credential, I don't think you'd have a problem finding a decent job.

I took a test for a company and my foot pedal would work with the test and I had keep going back
over the dictation time and again to get all the words because I couldnt stop and start it by the foot pedal. What can I do about this.
Just took the test myself. No actual dictation to transcribe. Just a written test.
For 13 cpl, I might do it if the dictators aren't a total horror.
I just took the test today - thought it was a great test of MT skills.

There is no written test. Must have been a different company. I took their ortho test sm
and it was easy. You had to know your terminology but it was easy to understand AND I used my foot pedal.

Just out of curiousity, how many of you on this board right now would apply for this job? The pay is less than minimum wage, they supply no equipment and looks like you may as well make yourself available 7 days a week. I am serious here, is anyone that is looking going to apply here?
We have another position open. This is an IC position transcribing for a few acute care hospitals, as well as a few specialty clinics. The position is part-time, requring M-F (evenings only) and Sat and Sun (hours flexible).
All candidates must posess at least 2 years of acute care experience (not counting schooling).
Other requirements are as follows:
High speed internet connection.
Universal foot pedal.
Windows 2000 or XP (NO Vista).
Microsoft Word 2000 or greater (no Word Pad).
MT U.S. based.
MT easily reached by phone or email.
We area reliable company that offers direct deposit. Pay starts at .07 cents per 65 character line including spaces. Raise will be given when MT is on their own needing minimal QA.

I feel the same way. If you want me to spend hours proof-reading and looking up the addresses of obscure doctors in the Middle-of-Nowhere, USA, then give that 3 cpl you're paying the so-called 'Editors' (and I use the term extremely loosely!), and give it to ME. Then I'll do all that demographic detail crap.

what you are saying does not apply in these
terrible times. How can you say, 'if you don't like it in 1 company, quit and look for a better company. They are all equal, more or less and jobs are scarce.
It is not proven yet that using the shortcuts brings the speed up. Not for everybody, some people are just 'mouse people' and prefer to continue to work with the mouse. Using the shortcuts is optional and pitting a lot of stress on only 3-4 fingers hitting constantly the Ctrl- and Alt- button in combination with others.
Also, the poster who said that editing isn't even editing anymore, meant, and she is right, that editing has often gone so bad that it is often better to delete the whole document and type it up anew. And this for the VR rate that is 50% of the straight rate.
I don't think I can apply though
cuz I don't have a the foot PEDDLE they require in the ad;-) Good gravy, they should have QA for their ads. Guess recruiters don't have to understand the industry at all anymore. But bet they get paid more than MTs at this CPL.
