I have called no one a liar. Yes, I do work there. Yes a few people have posted asking where was the work? You make it sound like the forum is filled with complaining about no work. The forum that I have access to has some MTs asking where the work is? There are also some posts on there about the email being sent out explaining why work is slow. The email I received told me that work was slow and what they were doing about it. Work is slow at a lot of companies every July and August. It is a slow time. I have been in this long enough with enough companies to know this. Also, I DO manage to get my line count done in spite of having low work volumes and I only have 2 accounts. Maybe some other MTs schedules are not as flexible as mine, as I can get on whenever, a few times a day and type when the work is on there. I have learned to structure my life during the summer months, when work tends to be low, to type at a moments notice. That is just part of being in this profession. I have also learned to sock away some money when work is abundant for these months when I know it is slow. It is part of this profession. My husband is a carpenter and work is slow for him every winter. He knows this and prepares for it. That is what we MTs have to do. I know some MTs who get a part time job in the summer to supplement knowing that it is slow.
I realize there are some MTs who are unhappy and I am not flaming them for it. Everyone has a different lifestyle and different capabilities. But for every MT who is unhappy at Transcend, there are just as many who are happy, love the new platform and get their work done that they need. I am just stating the positive side of the company, whereas some state the negative. That is my right, just as it is yours.
I do get up and stretch.
The company I work for has no problems with their MTs getting up to stretch. In fact, they encourage it. I am only 38 and I have had major back surgery with a fusion of my L5-S1. So, I think I know exactly what you are talking about.
There are a lot of MTs who are spoiled. They want everything offered to them, including flex time, benefits, PTO and a good line rate but everything is on their terms. Companies have a TAT requirement to meet and they need to ensure they have people working to return the work back to the customer in a timely fashion.
My point is that there are good companies out there that do pay over 9 cpl as an employee with excellent benefits. It just all depends on what is the most important to the MT.

I would agree on the low ESL and good work overall - but the AS are ridiculous for the accounts. They bend over backwards for the account and allow for things that 99% of other companies would not allow. Not overhired is not entirely true either. Anytime that we get a TINY bit of buildup they hire more people! This issue along with the platform slowness are truly the ONLY issues that are keeping WMX from being the best, IMO! However, these are very impt issues as they both greatly impact our paychecks!
This is how I deal with low work
sometimes at MQ. I got a second job PT that is okay with my working extra unscheduled hours. If MQ runs out, I will work for the other company. I work on hospital work and to me, acute care is acute care. All my accounts are ESLs anyways, so it doesn't much matter to me. I just made sure my second job matched the cpl that MQ pays me. Also, I have almost 10 backup accounts at MQ, so very, very rarely totally run out of work.
I'm part-time and don't have to work all weekend. I work Tues-Sat.
I've never heard that from Chronicle, of course I didn't see the ad.
I'll love to know who you work for. I also work every weekend with no extra pay.
It'd be nice to get paid for all the nights and weekends I work.
Maybe is it for a particular account. I work M-F. You are required to work one weekend an month.

Are there any companies who will allow you to work both weekend days as part of a regular schedule. I am looking for a reliable company, at leat 8.5 cpl, employee status and one where work flow is regular. I realize there are always slow downs in this industry but searching for a company where you are not consistently running out of work. I prefer to work both Sat and Sun to allow me 2 days off during the week. I know this is unusual. I have an IC job. Love the flexiblity but I need benefits.

I too hated the thought of working every single weekend, but I've been doing it for a year, and it has actually worked out okay. On the Sunday that I work, my husband gets to spend time with my kids, and I get an actual day to work interrupted. I don't have to work 8 hours on Sunday though, so I guess that helps. I just get up early and am done by noon. I am actually considering doing a Saturday too so that my husband can help that day also. It might not be as bad as you think. Good luck.

What do you find so difficult about working a weekend? I had 3 kids and worked 7 days a week.. (and still work 7 days a week!), you just adjust your schedule to what your kids are doing....most companies no longer require a set 8-4 or 9-5 type environment....Now I'm a grandmother and manage to do my job during the day and watch my granddaughter after 3 p.m....it really isn't that difficult. Look at it this way - if our normal work week was Tues to Sat, you'd be wondering how anyone could work Mon - Fri. Good luck with your juggling.

Weekend work / 2nd line
It depends on which client they assign you to. Our hospital is currently dial-up to both Lanier and Meditech. However, Meditech will soon be IP connection but you will require a phone line for our Lanier as ours is not internet based/digital.
There is an abundance of work on the weekend on
several accounts and the positions being advertised are for weekend coverage.

You volunteer to work the weekend (sm)
after having 40 hours, and only get the extra lines you type. I have never been offered incentive, OT, etc. However, I've been with company who ran out of work all the time, so, having the extra lines over the weekend helps my bottom line a lot. No complaint here. (It would be nice to have incentives over 1200 lines per day required, maybe they'll do that sometime.) My experience has been wonderful with them!

Wahhh, I have to work a weekend.....
you're sitting home on your probably ever expanding behind with a job, able to be home with your kidlets, can wear whatever unattractive outfit you want, probably don't bother with your appearance, don't have to spend money on fuel, nice clothing, lunch, etc, and still find something to complain about. Grow up, this is a REAL job that is 24/7. Take some pride in the fact that you happen to be employed and are lucky enough to be at home. Unless you're attached at the hip to the DH and kids, it shouldn't be a problem. Some companies require 1 weekend a month, if you can't bear that, find another job.
Weekend work has been going on in hospitals many years but
weekend workers generally rotate if they work in house or they used to. This should be the way these companies do this rather than tie up every weekend. It would be easier to find someone if they rotated their weekends and were firm about the commitment. It is not that hard. It is about good management and if they can't manage to get that commitment, then companies need new management to implement that kind of thing. Finding weekend workers would be a lot easier.

I think you can't be. Prob 98% of companies want you to work a weekend day.
I have more time than you and i think you are sorely mistaken in taking that attitude and that you will not get anything nowadays with that specification.

I HATE it. I've been looking for a job out of MT for a year - nothing. Your schedule includes one weekend day, and if a holiday falls on your regularly scheduled work day, TS - you get your normal line rate.

TransTech scheduling question. I know you work 1 weekend day (sm)
and give them a schedule you will be working. Do they micromanage, i.e. if you have to run to school to pick up a sick kid can you make up the time at the end of the shift without calling for permission? Do they go through and check your time on line and lines done to make sure you are being productive while signed onto system as MQ does?
Have heard they are really great and I understand schedules, but some companies allow more freedom of movement than others.

I agree. Acute care weekend work is different.
Acute care usually hires employees, pretty much, from what I can tell. They'll need coverage for weekends. If an IC or employee stipulates no weekends, and they are hired with that in mind, then why send work their way? This is the fault of the employer or client sending the work, not at all the MT. I kind of get tired of hearing how people get abused in this profession simply because they want a day off. We need days off just like everyone else, and someone who particularly wants to work those days will surely cover if there is an urgent report to be typed, but THIS PAYS MUCH MORE! STAT reports and weekend coverage should pay primo rate, in my opinion, and none of these MTSO's I have seen, so far, has come even close to the compensation I would look for to be at their beck and call. Enough said, I guess.

My 2 accounts are extremely busy as well. They haven't slowed down once.
How about you take Fridays off....and work one day out of the weekend. See if that eases your pain.
or work a few extra hours each during the week to make up for taking Friday off.
I would certainly look into changing my schedule around some how and taking off on Fridays if they were giving me that much difficulty.
What is their policy with regard to weekend work, and do they supply equipment?
