That's fabulous! Do they hire remotely?! LOL ?!?!?! nm

    Not even remotely true
In all of the research and reading I did last night, I found out that almost all of the cases that have been won by 'contractors' who are really employees were done under the presence of a signed contract.

There was a huge case with Microsoft that I read about, and another recently with FedEx. And about a thousand billion in between.

If I gave you a piece of paper that said 'done done done can take my kidney out with a rusty knife' and you signed it and gave it back, would that really protect me under the law?

If you're breaking the law, you're breaking the law - it doesn't matter what a piece of paper says.

But - that's doubly not a worry for me. They never sent me a contract (I believe in error, forgetting), and I never signed one.

In any case, please read this PDF I found off the Labor Board site if you want more of the information I have (also known as the truth and stuff).

Work remotely for a hospital - best deal in the industry. nm
    x
Their website says the MTs work remotely. Could be local from home or far. nm
    s
I think if you are working remotely during a setup would be the only time they can "monitor"
your computer and then you know about it and invite them in and then disconnect it when done with that.  Are you sure whoever is not meaning they can monitor when you are logged on or monitor your lines and work.  I think most any platform allows the company to watch those things.
    I googled their name
find much at all.  Anybody else do this?
    Googled TTD
Googled TTD (The Transcription Doctors)  A link came up showing a partnership with Mrecord.  Googled Mrecord.  Link came up showing Philippines.  Does this mean TTD offshores also?
I googled and the name is MD to MD, although website
is md2md.  They are in California, but I've never heard of them.
I googled it and it came up.....put transcription
    xx
Ya know - I just went and googled Dictaphone
Nuance, and all these stories come up and I made the mistake of reading some of them. Boy do they paint a rosy picture of the things speech can do, with special emphasis on cutting costs for medical facilities. It made me sick to read how fantastic they make this speech recognition out to be.

Now before the pro-speech lynch mob starts hunting me down, I know that speech works out for some, but in my experience it did not make me any faster; I type very fast to begin with. I just think that it's totally unfair that nothing is being published regarding the plight of the MT, working harder for half the amount of money. I just think that we MT's should stick together and let the general public and the hospital CEOs, etc. (not that they would care) know that we are being totally screwed and that it's not all roses, rainbows and puppy dog kisses for us who are trying to make a living at this job. Someone needs to publish an article from an MT point of view for everyone to read stating exactly what we as MT's have been going through ever since this came along.

I would be totally on board with speech rec. provided we be paid a fair wage comparable to what we are used to making.

And now....I'll get off my soapbox and go back to work before it disappears out of my queue.
I googled name & phrase but may be too old sm
probably old info but may be able to catch up with her  LINK click
Here's the deal - if you find one that fits, even remotely. STAY!! stop searching for "perfect

I googled labor board. Copy/paste in address bar

Me too. As soon as there is a little extra work they hire and hire and then noone has any. This
goes on all the time.  I get sick to death of it.  I think having 2 part time jobs is better so you have 2 jobs to count on.
They have called me twice and I have not yet called them back
Per your recommendation, I just might. Thank you.
I called and called and e-mailed my STM. When that got no

results I went over her head.  Got another account, but with 3 accounts still not enough work to get in more than 20 hours/week.  I worked a shift that was part 2nd/part 3rd.  Some days OT was offered, but then there wouldn't be work the next day.

Does KS only hire employees or do they hire ICs too? nm
    x
No one called you a joke, just called the post a joke because
we all know better, but you're entitled to your opinion.  You're the one insulting saying those of us who don't like SS probably couldn't cut it and that is the reason for our complaints.   You would be hard pressed to find anyone who ever worked for SS to agree with you about how wonderful they are.   They aren't getting new accounts, yet they always have an ad running - umm, let me think why that is.
    When I was called ...
I called Corporate back. I asked why were getting a call to verify we had received the letter. I was told that they wanted to verify the correct addresses for every employee, making sure each had received the letter, because our packets will be mailed out on 9/30 and are individualized as far as our base rates.

Personally, I would imagine that they have reviewed years of experience of MTs as well as the difficulty of accounts, as they have already stated, and come out with a tiered level of base rates -- the more experience you have the higher your rate as well as the more difficult the account you work on, the higher the pay...pay commensurate with experience and difficulty of work.
I bet if you called them they

    would tell you.

    They just called me AGAIN!!!
OMG! I am going insane! I just got yet ANOTHER call from a different person at SPI saying that she got a call from the hospital that I used to transcribe for saying that they had all these stat reports that were way out of TAT and no one at all on that account was working! Go figure! We all quit!!!! I don't know how much more I can take of these calls. I told her that I had better not receive anymore of these calls as I have made it more than clear that I don't work there anymore and haven't in 5 months!!! UGH!!!
Yes, it was a little different for me at first, too, but I called
Wendy and she explained it to me. Pretty simple now. Give her a call. She is always extremely helpful. Good luck.
Have you called them? They are more than
a little disorganized lately, but a phone call seems to take care of the problem.
    Someone called me...
The female I spoke with asked if I could produce 1300 lines/day (I said yes). She asked about my computer system (it met the required specs). She asked if I had an updated Cardiology book (I said yes). She said someone would call me soon--that was last month.
    some guy called....
and he expected me to start right then and there-no paper work, contract, nothing. What made it worse, in the middle of him explaining the system and wanting me to start then, he kept telling me to hold on because he kept getting calls. He finally said he would call me right back (in the middle of me learning the system). I never answered his call.
    called
Jim also called me for radiology hire. Anyone out there ever work for them? So many out there that just are not worth the aggravation
    Called them...
I called Silentype today, as is my practice when I am job hunting to call and see how their office is run etc. I asked for HR/Recruiting and was told No I'm sorry, not today... and they hung up. What a bunch of idiots, what if I were an MD calling for some reason to speak with HR about a specific MT? SKip them :)
    It's also called
supply and demand. There are so many MTs out of work and looking right now that they don't need to pay top dollar, even to the cream of the crop. There are too many MTs to choose from.
    They called me...
I think thats what the meeting was going to be about too
    I called my supervisor...
I really struggled with the decision to quit. I liked the company (a national) and accounts, but I could no longer handle the 20-hour minimum for PT as I already work a FT job and it just became too much. She was very nice about it and understood. She is a good supervisor and I felt I owed her that much. I did give a 2 week notice.
    There is a company called
in Texas that I would strongly recommend staying away from. I worked for this company for a little over a month but the platform made it way to hard to get any reports in. The pay was good but without reports, no $$$. Anyway, when speaking with these people I was told that they would pay for the return of the equipment if the position did not work out. When I decided to leave, I called and was instructed on how to return the equipment (foot pedal). Once doing this, I received a bill from Fed-Ex as now they are not going to pay for it. When I talked to them in June, I was told to fax them the bill and they would take care of it. Today, I received another bill from Fed-Ex. I'm going to pay this bill but I just wanted to let you all know how shady this company is.

When they are trying to suck you in they act all "Christian like" but when things don't work out the horns come out. Be careful!
    Called her again today ...
asked about start date, schedule, etc. and told her I'd call her back tomorrow. Will probably be accepting with them, starting on 11/28. You know how it sounds too good to be true? I sure hope it's not.
called big bucks usually do not....sm
    SIT on forum boards 24/7/365...........*lolol*
    called and wrote

    Spheris called but...

They haven't gotten back in touch with me.  Should I wait or call them back?  The lady who interviewed me told me that she would have someone get in touch with me.  That was a week ago now.

I am not going to wait around for a phone call though.  I have been putting in other applications, but I really wanted to work with them.

    Called out of the blue...sm

Have you ever been called out of the blue by a company which you did NOT submit an ap or resume to be offered a job?  Happened to me last night and I was a bit shocked.  It was what you would call a cold call, I guess.  Seemed odd...has anyone had a similar experience?

RE: Called out of the blue...........
If it was from Spheris, RUN LIKE HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL and don't look back!!!
Well you called her a liar. We have a lot of new MTs
who appear to be happy. When you call someone a liar, you should be prepared to back up that claim. I am sorry they changed their mind on the trainer position. Perhaps they put it on hold. At least they told you that they decided not to hire anyone. Some companies leave you hanging.
Sorry, no one ever called back
    nm
I was called and one of the first things they said was..
do you read the message boards and do you have any questions about what was said about our company??!! At that point i had not, but since i have browsed and looks like they are not a very well liked company?? I would like to verify this as well.
    Yep, one called today. sm
I asked a company, who I previously worked with, for a letter of reference, and she asked me if I could work for her again. Still waiting for counteroffer as I said yes with certain conditions.

A few years ago, I went in with a brochure to one of my previous clients, and they asked me to work with them again. With that one, I wish I had not gone back. We parted company this time, but not on friendly grounds. He has a nasty temperament.

My AC and TL have also called me many times not just ops
Like I said one AC is real bad about it, maybe you don't have the same one.
    It's called a bindi.
What Indian women wear on their heads.
LOL they called and reported me
to the ASPCA for trying to feed them a lesser brand...

Did you know dogs LOVE love love cat food?
