Oh well, I was offered a QA position at our local hospital so it worked out.

I have 15 years experience and I had to test with them.

Now they offer no testing for experienced MTs?

When I applied, they said they had no PT hours available unless strictly weekend.

Also, you have to work 1 weekend day, and supposedly Mondays are very slow.

I was offered a very low rate and was told that would mostly have to do VR.

Politely declined and will leave the work for those happy TTs who like to work weekends for next to nothing.

I have 19 years experience and was told the same thing. I think their test is incorrect.

Per job post you need ŕ-3 years of medical records transcription experience"

Reason for the revolving door at OSi, always has been that way, always will be

Are there actually companies out there that tell you what you did wrong on the test?
I have never heard of any that would do that...
Look at it this way. Each test is an experience
and it will help you gain some insight into what to expect. Like I said above, their accounts are rather difficult so they need to stay firm on what they require because you would be really disappointed to get in there and find out you make no money. You will pass another test for someone else. Keep your chin up.
I had the same experience with their test
And they told me to go back to school.  I just got an e mail (a mass e mail, I assume) from their recruiting dept saying they are hiring and to call them.
300 of us can't be wrong or stupid. Perhaps your experience at KS sm
was not the best but perhaps it was your fault too. The owner is not 666 as you put it. How absolutely horrible of you to say that about someone you do not know or even someone you do know.

Someone did something very wrong at Keystrokes? I don't think so. The person who did something very wrong was the person that started this bashing and those that continue to post for the pleasure of hurting someone.

They have a good reputation as witnessed both by their continued growth and the longevity of most of their MTs.

Quit your I think and normally. Those are suppositions and very hurtful and potentially harmful.

I pity anyone around such a negative, hateful person. If you are treated badly somewhere, you deserve it.

I am sick and tired of watching these posts the last few days. I love the company I work for and could not sick back quietly anymore.

If you have facts such as my check was x number of days late on x occasions (never in 3 years I have been at KS), I was not paid on x for $x, the company promised me vacation that was taken away or even I had 100% QA scores and 100% reliability and they let me go because of my race, anything definite, maybe just maybe you would be credible.

As it stands, you are a bitter, hateful person with too much time on your hands. Where do you work now? Or has no one hired you? Seems suspicious that you have not mentioned a good company to work for.

I am sure KS is just one in a long line of companies that people like you bashes just to bash. I hope you get yours for being so hateful.
Do you think they would let someone test with one year of experience? Thanks. nm
xx
2 years ago I took the test and ...

the person recruting called me to ask if I would consider the QA manager position because I had scored higher on their test than anyone had before.  So, they fly me down, put me up, I rent a car and take a look.  It is a slave house.  Everyone but the person who was acting as the recruiter was great.  It was a slave house.  They record off RERECORDED work...talk about listening through the sounds of Pink Floyd!  They say they wanted to offer me the job but don't tell me how much they will pay me.  I go home and sit back and wait.  THREE weeks later the recruiter calls and gives me the details.  I tell him I'm no longer interested.  It had taken over 2 months from the time I took their test to get an offer.  While I was their, the person boosted about infidelity...that was what really got me.  First time I made a mistake, there wouldn't be anyone there to catch my back.

I walked away and never looked back.

If you don't have "tons of experience," you may fail the test!! nm

You are very wrong. With only a few years under your belt, you should be sm
grateful that someone is giving you a chance. If any of my subs had attitudes like that, they would be looking for other jobs.

There are complaints about the work going other places, technology taking our jobs and doctors looking for new solutions and we ask WHY?

Maybe it is because the newest generation of MTs is too full of themselves to want to put out a perfect medical record.

Then again, maybe it's because those same MTs think it is OK to look at other MTs' work. This is a direct HIPAA violation. Is that too picky?
There is so much wrong with that company that 100 years
wouldn't fix it.
Is 7 cpl test/3.5 cpl VR for someone with 13 years exp a good amt.
Does not sound like it. Depends on their definition of line and whether they count spaces, but unless it's an awfully short line (most are 65 char) and they count spaces and headers and footers and supply the computer and have really, really cheap insurance (and you said there were no benefits), I'd say definitely NO. 8.5-9 regular and 5 for VR for acute care for experienced. And that's with benefits. Without, I'd say 10-12 or more. Have never heard of more than 5-6 for VR, though.
Yes, it happened to me, years ago. I knew it was WRONG!!!
probably a certain portion are new, believe it and sign up for their MT class
I had the same experience. Horrible account, nonexistent communication. What's wrong with these
nm
Only about 8 more years till retirement, but I AM going to take the test. (sm)
Have never felt the urge to do so in the past, but the company I am working for now reimburses the testing fees and you get a small raise because you are a CMT. It all adds up to being beneficial for me money-wise, so.... I chose to do it for that reason and that reason alone.

No MT experience needed for test, really. Just good reference materials.

Not one account lost in over 3 years. You're wrong. sm
They just chose not to bid on one that went to voice recognition but have had 100% renewal on contracts.
I have had two offers and this interview/test so far. I have worked for Q for 14+ years with
another two at a hospital and one at a clinic before then. I graduated from a cc with a trans cert in 1991. So, I have a bunch o' experience and love this job, but hate it now at the Q. I never cried WHILE I was working before this month! LOL! What about you?
Just took a test today for a company and I am amazed how rusty I am after not testing for years and
years.  I had to really think about things again.  I guess after you test enough you get used to it.  That is the first one I took in about 13 years.  I just more or less did it to see how it was.  Should be interesting to see how it went because I really dont want to work for the company I just wanted to take the test.  A lot of tricky questions in it.
After all these years, if I use Media Player, I just have my test outline ready and play the voice

What is wrong with these transcription companies
I cannot believe the lack of communication with the company I worked for for 13 years and the new one that I just quit, after not even completing training.  They show you something for less than an hour and then you are on your own, stuck in your own mess.   Then you go to quit and never hear from the manager who was supposed to call you between 24-48 hours after starting.   I had sent an e-mail asking if the person could call me and no reponse.   I decide to call and leave a voice mail and no response.  I think I am just going to give up transcription.  I had done this for many, many years and really am thoroughly disgusted.
I know nothing. Why wouldn't you want to do a transcription test?
It'd give you an idea of the quality of the work you're getting yourself into.
Acusis transcription test
Has anyone taken the test for Acusis?  I attempted to take the test...first of all they warn you right off that it will take 3 hours, and that you have to complete the test in 3 hours, nonstop.  So I thought I could handle that but once on the site I find out you cannot use a foot pedal but have to use function keys for the dictation (but of course the function keys didn't work for me) so I had to manually stop the dictation plus you could not slow the dictation down.  After doing 1 report and an hour was up, I decided it just wasn't worth it.  Did anyone else experience these problems.  If not, how did you get through the test? Thanks for you help.
Anybody apply/test for Transcription ETC? nm
.
7.25 cpl - 12 years experience
x
With how many years of experience ?
x
I have 18 years of experience and yet
I got sent a letter telling me to reapply when I had more experience.

They would not tell me what I missed on their testing. I know I did not do that badly.

You can have them.
I have 20 years experience....
they wanted to pay me $10/hr for the first 30 days. Puleeze.
And how many years experience do you have?
nm
I have 10 years of experience, that's how.nm
x
5 years experience?
All of the companies I'm finding want someone with 5+ years experience.

Does anyone know a good nationwide company that would be happy with 2-1/2 years experience?

Gee...I have over 30 years experience

and I STILL use reference books and websites to look things up and verify spellings, words, etc.  Maybe that explains why you were let go better than anything else.  With the rapid advances and changes in medicine...I don't think that anyone ever gets to know enough to stop using references.

19 years experience was not enough. Wow!
I'm kinda curious who did get the job, maybe someone with 40 years experience =)
I have 23 years experience
and I still run into grammar errors; part of it was the last company I worked for made me do some very strange things. But, also, it's because since my schooling 23 years ago, somethings really have changed, and I myself have gotten fairly lax about it. The last company I worked for didn't correct anything; be thankful for the criteria, and LEARN from it. This will make you a BETTER mt.
I have nearly 20 years' of experience and have

recently started exploring options.   I have been offered 10 cpl as employee and 11 as an IC with a couple of companies.  The lowest I've been offered is 9 cpl as employee.

It should be 20 years' experience OR 20 years of experience

the apostrophe takes the place of the OF.

Well, my experience is from a few years ago (sm)
but at that time they were fine to work with. They always paid on time. I actually had to re-record on my account, but like I said, that was probably closer to 4 years ago now. I remember that the people were nice as well. I ended up moving on because for one reason or other they lost the account I was working on, and I was already an IC for another company at that time, but the parting was on good terms. I'd work with them again.
17 years experience.
Loved your toast!!
I have 5 years of experience
going on 6, and I was just offered 9.5 cpl for straight typing on an ER account, and I can't wait to start this week.
Ten years experience and
Yes I listen 100%.... I could never do blanks only on any of the MTs as they still all make enough errors to make the dangerous.
I have more than 15 years of experience.
It was not my fault that they could not get their ducks lined up in a row.

Just because you have 30 years experience (sm)
doesn't mean there isn't much to still learn. I too have almost 30 years experience. Believe me, when I first started with WMX, I was shown how much I didn't know that I thought I did.

I have learned so much in the last couple of years with WMX. That's the difference between a company with a good, responsive QA dept as opposed to one with no or limited QA.
I have over 20 years of experience - sm
I can't get them to answer my resume when I sent it TWICE.  I know they employed a gal who had absolutely no experience so maybe they thought I knew too much or wanted to much $$ and didn't even ask??
over 30 years rad experience -
not worried about the test.  Just can't afford to give up insurance where I am, so looking for a good part-time option.  Thanks for all the replies!  I will definitely look into it further.
Even with 20 years of experience

I did work on-site, and when I left, they had to realize the hard way all that I did for them.  I am the one laughing now all of the way to the bank.

Hey on-site job, thanks for the experience because I'm making close to $50.00 an hour now.  Thanks to you and your networking, I gained my own accounts and a great name for myself!!!

Again - it was several YEARS ago when I had a bad experience
//
PS & that was with 20 years' experience
NM
many years of experience
You can't expect to make 35-40K per year with just one year of experience under your belt -- it takes a LOT of time and patience as well as discipline -- meaning ignore the phone during the day and set one or two days to do all your errands -- plus its a lot of hours.
I have 15 years experience
and I get paid 6 cents for speech recognition and 10 cents for transcription.  But all of their dictation is being moved to speech recognition, from what I have been told.
With 25 years' experience...
I can get a job anywhere...For a company to let a skilled MT go simply because he/she cannot be manipulated would constitute complete idiocity on the part of the company.  I would never accept such a position.  My time is MY TIME and my life is MY LIFE.
