I guess since the last 2 companies purchased made good cpl Transcend is willing to pay them what they made, really not fair for others only making 8 cpl, but I guess they gotta cut corners somewhere in order to keep the new Transcenders happy. I think you all are getting the best deal they have to offer.

Why should MT Seamstress be worried about the feelings of others when this man obviously cared nothing about HER feelings. I am not married to an offshore man but I have had dealings with them in the business world and MTS. experience is very typical of what I have seen also. Maybe your DH is the exception. One bases one's opinion on what they have seen and experienced and third world men, as I have been exposed to, lie, manipulate and treat women with no respect or regard. Are you saying you have NOT eperienced this with any of the offshore men you come in contact with regarding, maybe not DH himself, but other men in DH family or circle of friends?

I am not unsympathetic. I just do not think there is anything any of us can to to stop this. I am no fan of EMR, but I refuse to get my stomach all in knots over things I cannot change.

I already make 10 cpl or more based on
my shift - my schedule covers part of 2 shifts. I'm also paid for downtime, paid 6 holidays a year, plus if I work a holiday I get my line rate on top of holiday pay. I have better than average benefits.
The union would have nothing to offer to me and in fact by the time I paid union dues I would be making less than I do now with nothing to show for it.
To make a decision not to have kids based on
health care benefits and not a safe place is a way to make it okay in your mind, but I wouldn't trade my children for the world. I would pay a million dollars a month if I had it to be sure my children could be safe. However, the rewards of having children go far beyond anything monetary or what we consider safe. When that child looks you in the eyes and says I love you Mommy, nothing and I mean nothing else on this planet makes you feel like you have conquered any and all things. When that little person shows you an art project made just for you with those words scrawled on it, I love you, Mom, again, nothing and I mean nothing makes you feel like a queen as much as that does. When that 10-year-old child comes running to you (not his coach or even Coach Dad) when he hits his first homerun, you feel like you want to just cry because you know this child loves you that much. I wouldn't trade that for the cheapest health insurance or all of the money in the world. JMO though.... Good luck on whatever you decide. Having a family is not for everyone, but I'm sure glad I chose yes. Am I worried they may not be safe, of course, but the benefits far outweigh the risks.

Everyone has different experiences there. I like it and never ever made 3 cpl on editing. I make
a lot more than that and started at more than that. They treat their MTs fairly. I have worked there over 2 years and won't be leaving. I make a lot of money plus have decent benefits. They have my vote
I make twice what I made working at a hospital.
And I even work for MedQuist, no less!
Why should I go back to making 9 cpl when I make 11 cpl now?? I made 8 cpl over 12 years ago.

I "only" make $1.15 per report and have made over $62,000 this year so far. I only work 8 hou
5 days a week and pick up one 4-hour weekend shift a month. It depends on the account, your company, the report length, your expanders, normals, etc. I made $1.43 with Edix before I switched and even though I took a per report loss, I make more money in the past 2 years than ever with Edix. I rarely run out of work, which is a HUGE factor. I know that the company I work for is both praised and condemned on this board, but I am happy at KS.

How about making a Transcend board?
One was made for MQ employees to kvetch and whine and share information so it wasn't overriding the Company board. Couldn't you do the same for Transcend? It's worthless to come and read nothing but post after post whining about the Transcend/MDI plight.
Because Transcend is a paid sponsor of the board. Could that be it?

Transcend does. If you look, they advertise on the Jobs board but they admit that
they send work overseas.

Transcend BOUGHT MDI, you make it sound like
MDI is actually running Transcend. Liz is expendable if she does not do her job. Liz et AL might own stock in Transcend, but I doubt that they own the controlling interest.
However, neither company has the MT's best interest at heart. They are paying to have dictation by easy dictators done by voice recognition and making sure the rest of us are left with the horrible dictators they have on most of their accounts. I used to think JLG had the lock on bad dictators, but MDI and Transcend have made JLG look good.

If I get fired because I can't make paycheck with Transcend - will I get unemployment?
I work for Transcend Services and loved it at first but for the past few months, the work has been so slow on my account that I've been way short of making my required $450 a pay check for PT status. I've gotten two warnings that I may be terminated if I don't bring up my lines, but there is nothing I can do -- the work simply isn't there.
If they fire me like they're threatening to do, will I qualify for unemployment while I look for work? Will the laws of the state I live in or the state Transcend is in (Georgia) apply, since I work at home?
Also, as it stands, I'm not even making minimum wage. How can I figure what I would qualify for with unemployment?
Help/experience/suggestions appreciated. I'm frustrated over lack of work, inability to get backup accounts, and a practically nonexistent paycheck after 8 years in the industry with perfect QAs. Grrr.

Plus, the benefits are pretty good. Insurance is a little high but it is everywhere.

But no work, no pay. Nice ppl, they really are, some of the nicest in the business. Just can't communicate to save their lives and the recruiters are lying dogs.
I'd say if you're looking for part-time work, as in less than 20 hrs a week's worth of work, then this place is for you. Use them as ur backup. Because guaranteed that's all they're using you for.

then doesn't that make MDI a company that offshores? That's like saying that one branch of a company offshores but another does not, so they are excluded from the offshore label. If MDI-FL is part of Transcend and Transcend offshores, that means that they do.

Your hypothesis is incorrect. MDI is a wholly independent subsidary of Transcend, therefore, they were not a part of the experiment to offshore to evaluate cost/benefit ratio that Transcend only tried for 90 days (I believe the evaluation process is not still ongoing).

other company in the last 5 years. Why? Because there is always work for me. I love starting work each day, knowing that the company I work for appreciates me and has plenty of work. Transtech and Keystrokes sound very similar; those of us that work for either can count our blessings that we are not part of the cesspool or huge corporate mess that makes up the biggest few companies. We do not have to worry about our jobs getting sent overseas and we see a future in this business!!!
