I went from 250-300 lph to 180-200 lph with it. Plus it has this spy stuff (I called it), where if you are gone longer than such amount of time, when you come back, you have to say why you were gone (it has things to choose from). I didn't care for it, but obviously some must.

LOVE Bayscribe, HATE MedRite! MedRite when I used it was slow sm
and cumbersome -- would type and wait for it to catch up! Plus it had some annoying thing where if you were gone too long, a pop up window came up and you had to explain why you were gone. Bayscribe is fast, smooth, user friendly, and at the end of each report you can see how many lines you did and how much money you made, for that report and for the total day.

Depends on the account. Work on VR lately has been slow. Just like all companies, we have slow times
Honestly though, I have only had 2-3 times in the past 2 years where it was like the other day...no work... It did pick up later but I just think it's important not to make someone think we're overloaded with work all the time. That would not be fair to them if they end up with high expectations.

Slow time is usually in September when everyone is back to work/school from the summer months.

It can be pretty hard for people who need insurance (no spouse with good insurance, etc) to take a job (even if it is with a wonderful company) where the insurance is too expensive for them to afford until enough people come on board to get a lower group insurance. If you come from a company where you had insurance and can afford to keep it via COBRA until the company has enough people to participate in the group insurance, then maybe it can work out. However, if it takes too long, then you are in deep trouble because the COBRA only lasts so long.

The majority of the companies do not reimburse LD/internet fees. They did loan me a C-phone for free, most won't supply or they rent them to you.
Doing away with my home phone and getting digital phone actually lowers my expenses, as my costs from BellSouth/AT&T were more than my digital line is, so I don't see that I'm out anything.
In the ads they clearly state you need ULD and they don't mention anything about reimbursement. They have been completely up front about it and you can make your choice, go with them or don't.

Hi. When a company offers something like a $1000 sign-on bonus in one of their classified ads, what conditions do MTs usually have to meet to actually qualify for just such a bonus, and if those conditions are met, how long does the MT usually have to wait for the bonus? I am personally not looking for a new job right now, but when I see those adds, I ALWAYS think - Yeah, right, what's the catch?

When you spoke of the labor board was wondering why contact them about this. Do you work doing VR or straight? I personally think 3 cents a line is ridiculous for VR. I make what I am satisfied with on VR because I find my platform easy, very good with ESLs BUT I do not think VR will take over completely. I have done VR now for about 7 years and you cannot just leave a machine to run and not check behind it sometime, such it is with VR.

new hires, do you think? They haven't told me to take the day off or anything, but there are big gaps in my downloads. I love QT but it's times like these that make my eyes wander to the ads. Funny how when we're busy, I type faster, too. When it's like this, I just casually and nonchalantly go about typing during the day, getting up and down as I please, no hurry at all. Maybe I'll start looking at part-time supplements -- then if work runs really dry, I'l already have my foot in the door somewhere else.

Nope, not a catch. The only thing you need to do to qualify I think is have been there one year in
to be eligible. They pay like four weeks at full pay (your average weekly earnings) or eight weeks at half pay. Your choice. They strongly believe that it's the right thing to do.
Notice the "up to $2500" - sounds like a catch - be careful with this one

MQ Medrite
I am surprised that there are still accounts on Medrite. The goal of MQ from what I can see is to get all of the accounts that they possibly could up on the new platform. I believe that the Amherst office has changed or done away with all their Medrite accounts--they are nothing but the new platform with the Foxboro office being the MTs office, which I would think that they would be working on getting those accounts up on the new platform and doing away with MTS just like Medrite. Wasn't the Medrite system what got MQ into the billing issue to start with or was it just bad billing practices all over. My girlfriend just went thru the training for the new platform with 14 other MT's which included newbies which we still can not understand as we are running out of work and having to deal with 4 and 5 accounts to get our lines but that is the MQ choice of the future

I have done a search on this board but not much info on MedRite. I know they have their own Expander but can you use Shorthand with this program; I really don't want to have to start from scratch building lists. Will do what I have to do though.

I've been trying to get someone to answer this question for me for months now. The Expander in Medrite is extremely limited and the 'techie' in my company has a copy of Shorthand that he can sort of test to see if it works with Medrite and he still has not gotten around to it..that was 2 months ago. If there is ANYONE out there that can answer this question, please let us know. It would surely increase our production, because at this rate, Medrite is holding me back.

I have been using it for two weeks and they have been two weeks of hell. This is the worst work nightmare of my life. Working in their version of MSWord is like being in a straightjacket. If you have an IQ below normal, maybe you will like it since everything is managed for you by the supervisor.

We currently use an upgraded version of MedRite for transcription and just learned that some accounts in my company are going to VR. Does anyone know if MedRite has its own VR, or does this mean that my company purchased a VR platform that is compatible with MedRite? If anyone know anything about MedRite and VR I'd really appreciate hearing about it. I use Instant Text with MedRite and currently do about 300+ lines per hour straight typing. I'm really nervous about VR since most of what I hear is negative. My husband lost his job and so I can't afford a paycut, but want to be prepared. Any good/bad concerning Medrite and VR would be greatly appreciated.

Watch out for SPi
I used to work for MQ and started working for SPi before all the latest changes that really screw up the MT compensation. Nobody here cares about doing things the right way and they can make you work for nohting at all. Recently found out that one of the managers at MQ that was one of the reasons I left there has made op manager at SPI and she is probably behind all these bad decisions. DONT WORK FOR THIS PLACE. I have just given my notice and am moving on. SPI wont be a good place to work until they start listening to the people who really know what they are doing and stop listening to the people that will bring the company down. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

they seem to be going down more. Look at them. Even want to pay less (7 cent)until off QA. We are already losing big time as if, we make even less until get used to their system, acct specific etc. I could understand if paid by the hours, but this is not the case at all. WE not the company are the ones who lose during this period.
Look at the ads, 7 to 8 cents. POOH!!!! Even saw 5 cents and recent... in last few days.

I LOVED Medrite!
I was a lot more productive on it than on DQS. It was a lot more user friendly as well. DQS is set up for VR, not for the lowly MTs.
As far as I know, nothing is compatible with Medrite, sm
especially if you are working in DOS. I worked on it for over a year and never did get the hang of remembering my own word expansions. I used IT too long and could not get used to anything else.

How do you activate the Expander in Medrite? Does it show a list of what you have added in case you don't remember your entries, i.e., like the little yellow box that is available in Shorthand?
