What sounds too good to be true - REALLY IS!!!
Gads! Three phone lines? What in the world could you possibly do with THREE phone lines?
What freaks me out about that posting is
$12.50 AN HOUR SALARY
STRONG ESL
At the end of the day, babe you will have earned every penny of that money. My head hurts just thinking of working that dictation puzzle.
Those dictators are the worst of the worst and they can't find anyone who wants to do it. ECK!
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. (sm)
Nothing is as it appears to be there. I would look elsewhere.
Sure sounds too good to be true.
If anyone has any info I would sure be interested. TIA.
Sounds too good to be true? It is.
Ok, so you are a provider and you want to eliminate your MT costs. So you either go with VR or EMR (template point and click). So you think if I just buy this program I can eliminate my costs of creating a record. So you fire your MT (s) and buy into this electronic thing. But then you find that you need to hire IT staff to make it keep chugging along. So you are replacing someone who does piece work by working by the line with someone who needs salary, PTO, sick pay, benefits, etc to keep that electronic thing going. So in the long run you aren't saving any money. In fact you are creating another boondoggle by having to install a body on your precious real estate and in the bargain you must take them to raise. This won't last long once these idiot providers realize the costs outweigh the benefits of going electronic.
Thanks for the advice. The idea of clinic work sounds good, but I do feel comfortable with acute ...
care. I have a lot of experience with operative notes, DS, consults, radiology etc.. but I am not that thrilled with ESLs. It is just harder to make money on them. I think I will look into clinic work. It was only the lack of work that was bothering me about these companies and mismanaging the accounts they did have, broken promises, and just getting the runaround.. over everything from benefits to work.
I've always heard if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. n/m

TT has paid maternity leave? Sounds too good to be true..
Just wondering if anyone has used this paid maternity benefit? Is there a catch? This is such a rare benefit now days it just seems too good to be true.
Sounds like she has no life... I feel sorry for her. - n/m

Sounds a bit like how I feel about MediTech...Thanks for the info!!! (NM)
:D
I don't know that it is true, I haven't asked, don't feel
like they would tell me if true. I haven't figured out the company name yet, still trying and I doubt seriously the offshoring company would tell us who their clients are. There is a ton of work, so I don't see offshoring (if it is happening) is affecting me. They have one account that is very difficult and they are unable to keep MTs on that account and maybe that account is being offshored, as it is mostly ME dictators anyway.
I know for a fact that QT management does monitor the boards and I feel like they need to address the concerns or they are going to find themselves in a bad situation.
I hope that's true, might make me feel a little better...
Even if they are being charged less, the rates companies are paying MTs to do VR is grossly unfair. There is no way it takes half the time to do VR as compared to regular. You still have to listen to the whole dictation. Maybe 65-70% would be fair, not 50%.
Sounds like a company I worked for. I did get paid in full but I sure know how you feel!
Can you post or email me just the initials of company and I'll let you know if this is the same one. It has happended to me by more than one company in my time as an MT
Sounds to go to be true; it probably is. I have been had before by a similar ad and never got paid
Beware
Sounds like a true management attitude if I ever heard one.
bah
I feel the same way and it's good to hear
To the original poster...It is frustrating at times, I must admit. But life is full of ups and downs. I like to compare it to a NASDAQ company - you know, when they post the company's 1st quarter earnings, etc. Even multi-billion dollar companies have ups and downs, so they take advantage of the ups and tighten their belts during the down times. That's the nature of working in this profession.
I know how you feel. Been there/done that. Good luck!
`
I feel your pain, truly. Good luck to you. nm

Yeah it sure does feel good to vent here tho
..
You should feel great now! All good news.
It's a relief for all of us Ex-Qers who are used to being abused.
What a good post MTIM - Feel your pain
We all feel like that from time to time, but it doesn't matter whether you are an MT or working in any other profession - some days a job is just a job. You sound like you work for a company like I did. Too much management getting in the way. That said, look at it this way. At one point in my career I made 0.075 cpl for many years (raises unheard of). I took that rate and turned it into $40,000 a year because I typed by fingers to the bone. Minimum line count of 1,200 was not enough for me, but some people will only type the minimum and then quit. This is where their problem is. It's called ambition. Of course the pay will be low if you quit at 1,200 lines. Being an MT for 5-10-15 years you certainly should be typing more than that. If you are not, and it is not YOUR fault, but because of company dynamics, it is time to find a company and account that helps you reach your full potential. Please do not cheat yourself. The first thing I would do is not answer phone calls or e mail during your shift (do this before or after) because you are going to have enough to deal with to slow you down while you are working as you described.
I do not move from company to company, never have, but I certainly would if I felt like I could do better than what is being offered to me, for whatever reason. Again, no one is going to take care of you - except you, so don't cheat yourself. Since you already have a job - go with the flow until you find what is absolutely perfect for you and you can make lots of $$ no matter what the rate ( to a degree of course). It would be nice if we could all make 11 cpl or better. I never have. I have found a company and account that is perfect for me, making good money and love the work. The kicker is, I would have taken that job for 7 cpl and because I am very good in that specialty - I could still make a decent living with it. Don't go jumping at the first thing offered to you. Think about it - and yourself. What is it that you do best as an MT. That's what you look for. Being at this for 15 years, maybe you should just throw in the towel where you are but I think you do have the potential for something else. Go for it - and good luck to you.
Does your company start with a T... If so, I feel your pain and it does no good to complain. No one
cares. Tell me how you go from over 200 jobs in a queue to nothing in a few hours. Hmmmm. I smell offsourcing. Not happy. I just got a second job and thank goodness. It will save me when there is no work which is too often for my liking.
My account is so good, I feel as if I'm cherry-picking with every report....
Sorry, but I actually started today and my account is FABULOUS. Every report I've had today has been so easy to edit, I feel like I'm cherry picking, although this account obviously just has fabulous dictators as they are randomly falling into my cue.
I knew someone would try to rain on my TT parade.
Glad I've got a HUGE umbrella :-)
now I know you ARE definitely crazy..no further responses will be made to make you feel good about y

Sounds good. Thanks:)

Sounds good
What software do you transcribe in? How do you send work back and forth?
Sounds good.
for taking the time to help me.
Thanks.
Sounds good to me
If they can't keep up with the updated info I sent in May, how will they keep up with the latest info? Is somebody shredding all the files? I think I'll apply at the hospital 5 miles from home for almost any position they have!
sounds good to me...
I saw their ad also. TNX for the heads up!
Thanks, sounds good. NM
NM
Sounds good
That is how I am going to be paid. Thanks for the info. Peace :)
No, but I saw the ad - 12 cpl for weekends. Sounds good.
x
That sounds good, but I have one question.
If you have the software on your computer from one company (working as an employee) and become an IC or employee for another company, will there be a conflict technically with two different types of software??? I've been thinking of doing this also to cover those gaps!
Sounds good, but are there any downsides I need to know? nm
nm
Sounds good to me, too! Where do I apply?!?
I'm an optimistic person - no company could be worse than the one I've been with forever. Sounds like a nice starting salary with hope for the future.
Well, it sounds good pay wise, but (sm)
if you are not used to working the night shift, you may have difficulty. It always sounds good, like, I'll go to bed when I get home, but in reality, do you go to bed now when you're done working? Probably not. It may take you several hours to unwind, if you are like me, and by that time, you would have to be up with your daughter. I have seen several people over the course of my MT career try to do nights when they are not night people and it always ended up badly. Not to say it won't work for you, but just keep this in mind.
Wal-Mart Sounds Good
Wal-Mart is starting to look better and better to me. I have been an excellent Transcriptionist for over 25 years and had planned to retire as same. The past couple of years has caused me to re-think the rest of my life. I have gone from an average of $23.00 per hour to $16.00 per hour and it makes me nauseous. The suits are getting the money that I am having to work even harder to get (for them).
So, I'm thinking about going to Wal-Mart. My mother will retire from them soon and she, believe it or not, has had a lot less stress than I have had in the past few years. I think she makes about $14.00 per hour at this point. I'm sure that starting out, you probably do not make that much, but I think that if I have to work for less money, I would rather it be for someone who didn't TAKE MY MONEY. Anybody agree????
Hey Thanks a lot for your helpfulness! Sounds good to me! NM
NM
Sounds like a good offer.
If it is high hourly with good benefits, but don't know the company. Don't know of anywhere else offering such a good thing. Might be worth a try. Good luck!
Sounds like good ol' Axolotl
Very rude and no compassion for anybody. I used to work there. Miserable supervisor, just miserable. Felt like I was in Russia.
Hard to believe, but sounds good. nm
nm
Thanks. That sounds like good advice.
I took it to mean.......too good to be true. However,
I emailed just to see, right? LOL.......made dummies of all us, I guess.
2 good 2 b true? c msg
Posting on MTJobs has V.P. Transcription pay for a radiology accountn at 16/cpl for NO experience. Am I not reading this right?
If it looks too good to be true
that is what the story sounds like, millionaires all over the place in just 25 years. Yep, just sign me up today (Not).
Wow, you are scary. It sounds like a good thing for
TransTech that you moved on. Good riddance.
Sounds like a win-win situation! Good Luck!

Sounds like you can make a good living, just can't
There's quite a difference.
Sounds good to me! Wouldn't it be wonderful to (sm)
type something every once in a while that is a little more interesting! Might help me keep my eyes open during the day.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..........
Wow...sounds like a good place to work.
Sounds like they made it worthwhile.
Thank you so very much. Need to leave Mq and this sounds like a good place to go, thank you again!
nm
This sounds like a pretty good deal, especially if....sm
you are making $$. You can always contribute to an IRA that will be tax deductible at end of year. Sometimes going to a company for the benefits doesn't pay off - ask me: I tried it twice in the past month, only to quit both jobs after about 1 payroll period as it became obvious that they either didn't know how to do payroll correctly, or that the lines weren't correct (even though they claimed to pay for hdrs/footers/spaces etc!).
I would sure like to know where you work - I'm an EXText-er myself and want just PT. Care to share???? Thanks!!
