several of us will probably get warnings for not making line count this pay period. What amazes me is that they've got an ad out today. Makes me wonder if things are going to get worse before they get better.

I have 7 yrs until retirement and I doubt is any MT work SM
will be done in US. I am thinking of other jobs. Instead of some work going to India, or perhaps some other country, most of the work will be done offshore and we in the US will be left little. I'm not hysterical over this, I just consider it a fact of life.

This company is growing so rapidly, it's hard to keep up. Several new accts in the last few weeks, and they seem to be big ones. True enough, they may fully staff them soon, but as long as you have a backup acct for slow times, there is no problem. You want them to be flexible, but you have to be flexible as well. I have typed on about 6 or 7 different accounts and the most I've EVER run out of work in 2 years is for about an hour. I have learned to take advantage of a few slow hours here and there. I don't foresee it happening again any time soon though.

she can most likely weed out the MTs just by their posts anyway if she's dealt with them at all. She did the right thing to simply state MDI MTs can come to her IF they have concerns. It's great to share info, but not ALL posts are by sister MTs sharing the good word. There are many, many who love to incite drama and there are always 2 sides to every story! Anyone can come on here and claim they are great MTs and do all that is expected of them yet are treated terribly by a company, but that sure doesn't make it the truth. About how many MTs do you think are at MDI? And how many individual MTs are here complaining? Not the same posters using different names but single persons. Do the math and figure out from that how many are unhappy at MDI, and my bet is your percentage will be low. I know of a lot of MTs very happy at MDI with enough work. But then I'm sure the naysayers will just claim those are the favorites or something.

There is no way I would work for anyone who did not pay me. If I get paid every 2 weeks, then..
the first time my check is more than a couple days late, they can forget it. You can bet they are getting paid by their clients. Who do they think does the work. The MTs should be paid above all else. I would give them a date that they had to "overnight" by check by or I'd file a company with a labor board, BBB, anyone who will listen. These companies get away with it because no one stands up for themselves. I do the work that is asked of me and I expect to be paid one time. No one should except any less than that. Good luck to you and nail them right where they stand on this one!!

I agree with the other poster. Futurenet is great! They are very respectable. A lot of working is going to SR now though. That is the only downfall I have for them. But they work with you on everything! If they offered benefits, which they don't, I don't think anyone could beat them whatsoever. Pay is ontime EVERY time! Excellent staff! I have been there for a little over 2 years and have thought about going other places ONLY for benefit purposes but I just can't! They are too good to leave! I will be with them as long as they will allow me to. Couldn't picture myself working for anyone else!

Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.

After seeing some of these posts, reading through many ads, and speaking with recruiters, and being knee deep in seeing some of the "mishandled, misappropriated, misguided, hypocritical, and profound blatant mistakes on reports, that are missed by QA, and mostly by some of these same Transcriptionist themselves, who are masticating
I have been with MQ Amherst now for 3 weeks and have continually run out of work. I know this has
been hashed out on here many times but my question is does anyone expect this problem to ever get resolved or should we simply expect to keep running out of work at Amherst forever. I know when they call me about the new pay plan and tell me it is incentive based I plan to tell them they better make sure we have work or their plan is a joke. What can I expect with this office and what can be done to correct it. I dont plan to have to work 8 accounts to get my lines in and have them QA me on accounts I have never done besides. If this problem is long standing and unlikely to be resolved it is time to either get out of that office or get out of MQ so I would like some good ideas and comments on this. We know it exists but what is the next step.
Why is OSi hiring new people when I have been out of work for 6 weeks?
I am statutory (or IC, whatever they are calling it now). I have a main account and 2 -- count them 2 -- back up accounts. I have been out/short of work for over 6 weeks.
Unless you are a full time employee, you get no benefits, no hourly, NOTHING. I am amazed that they are hiring when they have people already trained and begging for work!!!
Don't they realize that it costs a WHOLE lot more in turnover to train a new employee than to keep an already-trained one happy?
I'm looking at other nationals now. I've never been one to job hop, but I just can't take the time off any more!!!

You may be asked to invest in expensive equipment, likely to run out of work regularly and not have your calls returned when you try to contact them. They do pay well but the work is NOT there more than it is, so great pay doesn't mean much. They sell it to you great but they don't deliver.

vaction - quite a sweet deal ... while the rest of us are struggling with monumentous premiums (financing a newbie's love/sex life not my idea of fair play). I encountered slow to no work the weeks preceding Thanksgiving and several days after but the past
few days it has picked up. Can I ask which account/accounts your on? I think that makes a difference. Mine are part f the Escription platform. I honestly got really ticked a few weeks ago when we had no work and they were still hiring. For one, it's bad enough when we have to share some of our work with the Indians, but how fair it is to hire these poor people who think they are getting work where there is none. It makes no sense to me either. Why not provide work to your current employees than drive them away by taking on too many new people.

I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.

I doubt SEs will be out with MQ.
I think they probably get very excellent coverage from SEs because there isn't the same schedule/time limitations and therefore SEs feel more free to work as they can.
I'm an SE and I truly hope it doesn't change much for me but, if it does, I will just have to re-evaluate and decide if I want to make that change.
I think SEs may see a changes in the form of base pay rates, shift differentials, etc., all the pay issues but no re-classification as it seems is coming for PT and FT employees. They will probably offer a very attractive employee package for SEs for those who were walking the line about SE vs Employee status.
We will see, I guess.

Ad posted twice with different wording, same number. Both have since disappeared from board. Assumed target was an Indian gentleman. He was very emphatic that it was a scam and did not seem puzzled, so all in all, pieces fit more likely with a trick rather than an accident.

Have you actually worked for Transcend or are you just a doubter? Management is not stupid. They know that without the MTs there would be no company and no profit. Did you have a bad experience you would like to share?

the companies I've worked for only paid an extra $0.0025 (quarter cent) per line for being a CMT.
I wonder if that employer knows that CMT fees & AHDI dues go to fund the special Indian Rate that AHDI and Prometric came up with.
