I didn't work there way back in 2005, so

I can't comment on your personal experience, but for me in 2008:

1. If you run out of work, you are paid downtime. You can do backup acounts also. Not sure about the written consent but there are a lot of us who work on other accounts.

2. Sample reports: The program allows you to bring up previously typed reports by experienced MTs by doctor, patient, report type, etc., so the MT has endless samples.

3. Supervisor currently, from what I can tell anyhow, has a lot of contact with hosital including informing them of problem dictators and other issues that directly impact the MT's production, etc.

4. I think they changed the insurance to cover out-of-area employees, but don't quote me on that.

Personally I've had a very good experience with the FL account. Nothing is perfect, but I'm very satisfied.

They didn't charge me for sending it back
I thought they were pretty nice about it and my final check was deposited as usual.  They are ethical people.  But the demographics will kill you.
She didn't. Evidently you need to go back and reread. nm

She didn't say she expected to be thanked back
She just said they didn't respond. I think Miss Manners would say that the proper response to thank you would be you're welcome.
Back in the days of YOG FN didn't have a good
name either.  Your post shows just how unprofessional FN is and surely does not entice anyone to apply with your company.  Even if what the person posted is not true, you could have chosen to take the high road, but instead you took the low road.
Don't sweat it. Be glad you didn't hear back.

I was feeling bad that they didn't get back to me with my 35+ years of experience, sm

but if that is the pittance they offer for pay, I'm glad they saved me the trouble of turning them down.  Pretty soon, scrubbing toilets will pay more.

Guess I didn't. Heard back within a day of taking the test, sm
but that was several years ago.  Depends on current recruiters, I guess.
Are you talking about the one with the 2 radiology jobs? I didn't hear back either...nm

Oops, sorry - I changed my name back three or four times but it didn't "take" nm

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
I have been with MDI-MD since the end of 2005 - and I
totally agree with the comments by anon. I enjoy working for them. Fantastic, caring people to work for. Communication is excellent and far above what I have experienced in the past. Replies are practically instantaneous via email with any questions, problems, etc., you might have to the liaison of your account - same with telephone help via technical support. Have normal slow-downs in work over the Holidays, but I'm kept extremely busy on a daily basis on the account that I'm on - usually doing more than my commitment, though not required to do so. Should there ever be a lack of work on my account and I wanted an additional account, all I would need to do is ask. Please note -- I am on ONE ACCOUNT -- not 5, 10, or more !! Since being hired, I can honestly say that I now love being a medical Transcriptionist again - something I had lost during my prior 12 years with another company :o)
MDI-FL Any 2005 MDI-FL MTs still around who can

Transcend took over MDI-FL in January of 2005.  Is there anyone who transferred to Transcend from MDI-FL in 2005 that is still working for Transcend or can remember back then, and could shed some light on how the transition went and answer some of the questions like:

1.  Did your cpl change?  Higher?  Lower?

2.  Did you have to go to a set schedule?

3.  Did you get to stay on the same accounts that you had at MDI-FL?

Any other information you could share would sure be great.

Thank you.

They last had an ad here in 2005 for 8 cpl. No other info. nm

Sorry. It has to be me. I did exactly what you said and all it has is 2004 and 2005.
Thanks anyway.  Maybe someone will still enlighten me, but obviously it is not looking too positive so I probably won't waste my time with them.
Don't know, but the posts from 2005 about them are quite negative. nm

I cannot answer for February of 2005.

I was not employed there then.  I have been there a little over 2 years.  I can say when I started at Axolotl there were maybe 10 to 15 acute care MTs.  We have more than doubled in size since then.  I do know that if we had work outsourced to other companies, we would not have the amount of work to transcribe that is always here.

Axolotl is also an EMR provider and if you go to their website you can read all about that area of their business.

In my 15 years of being a trancriptionist, I have never found a better company to work for and this is why:

1.  They treat their MTs like they should be treated.

2.  They compensate MTs the way they should be compensated.

3.  The platform is great.

4.  We do not run out of work and they do not overhire.

5.  They offer great benefits.

6.  Great management and editors.

After reading so many horror stories on this site about some of the nightmares other MTs have gone through with other companies, plus the fact I have had a few myself, I am BLESSED to find such a great company.

You are still wrong, I'm sorry; that manual is from 2005 sm
All the managers sent out information saying it was at their discretion. Instead of posting here, why don't you just ask your manager if it is true?
2005 MW Social Security Statement

Thank you very much for alerting us to this.

I am ex-MW employee.  I too am going to report MW as my 2005 SS statement was not reported.  I hope they are FULLY investigated.

I am going to call SS in the morning.  Who should I notify in the Department of Labor?

I also did not have my state taxes taken out by MW, but I was required to pay my state taxes as if I were an IC in my state, even though I was an employee in this company.

OSi didn't work out for me...lack of work sm
I worked there for about 3 months last year, and even though I was on 3 different accounts, I was continually running out of work.  They wanted me to flex to meet their schedule needs (working on my days off and late at night), but do to having small children, and having to have a babysitter when I am working, I need a set scheduled, and they just couldn't handle that.  I also thought they micromanaged.  I like to be left alone to do work.  I ended up slinking back to the Q after 3 months was up.
Didn't work for me
Not a great experience for me. I felt they did not have a clue as to what an MT was/did, espected way too much, way too soon. Training period of a few hours, then expected to make line count within 1 to 2 weeks on brand new account that no one had done yet - actually expecting a brand new employee to implement the account (huge) and make 1200 lines a day at the same time! I had 25 years' experience at the time and lasted there a very short time as I am older but wiser now!
Didn't work well enough for me.

When pressing the foot pedal, sometimes it would do nothing or would hesitate before hearing any dictation.  I found this unacceptable and a pain in the butt.  I don't think Vonage is allowing MTs anymore.  At least, that's what I last heard.

didn't work for me
disorganized, wouldn't know QA if it bit 'em, lots of files to download and cross reference, have to wait 6-8 weeks for first check, lots of phone calls (interruptions)....
Job didn't work out

Personally, I think it is the company that should feel bad.  What did you do to make you feel bad when the company turns out not to be the same as they seemed to be in the sales pitch?  If you showed up on the first day of this job and couldn't transcribe, do you think they would hesitate to let you go?

What we need in our industry is more courageous folks who will stand up for themselves and not take any @#$%#@#$ from these companies that basically lie to get you to work for them.  They are taking advantage of us and it is only because we are letting them get away with it.  I know, cause I've been there.  I stuck it out with one awful company for 6 months.  After that, there have been some that I've rejected before we got past the contract.  There were at least 3 that I quit after less than a week.  Same story.  The job was totally different than it was supposed to be, according to the description of the recruiter.

Don't sweat it.  Just tell them goodbye, it didn't work out.

Didn't work for me...
I tried working for them, but they told me I could not work a flexible schedule, no matter that I would get my required amount of hours...when I say flexible I mean I need to work off and on with no set scheduled times to work. They were always calling me wondering why I wasn't working...this was the pits.
I tried this, but it didn't work. Thanks. nm
x
LOL, you must be one who didn't do their work

As stated many times, if you work your schedule, meet your line counts and produce quality documents, you will do just fine.

If you cannot produce quality documents, if you do not want to work the schedule you set and if you cannot produce the minimum line count which you were aware of when you were hired, (1200 lines), then don't come to Axolotl.

Axolotl is not the place for MTs who do their own thing. If you are disciplined, want to make good money and have good benefits, then it might be the place for you.

did that, didn't work either

you WISH you didn't have to work sm
from home---have kids???? How about be thankful you CAN work from home if you need to work from home.

If you are only doing this because you have kids you are probably in the wrong profession. you are saying your employer has serious mental problems.......you are working and you get a check correct? You work from home and don't have to face this person correct?

Sounds to me like he isn't the only one who has some problems!
it's been done - didn't work out well. n/m

Comments on this board from 12/2005 said staff was overwhelmed and had no time to help their MTs.

I am not really sure. Your work is due back the next day. As for sm

weekends and holidays, it is clinic work, and I do not think any of the accounts work on the weekends, but I could be wrong.  The work you get on Friday is due back on Monday morning.  You might submit your resume anyway.  The lead MT handles the hiring, and she is great.  Perhaps you could work something out.  I only work part-time, and I cannot really speak for the company, but feel free to email me if you have any other questions, and I will help if I can.

Good luck!

going back to work

have not been working for nearly 2 years....just wondering what companies are out there these days that are hiring.....any suggestions appreciated....thanks
