Usually a spelling test, a punctuation test, and maybe 3-6 test files to do. Sometimes done using

I took a test for a company and my foot pedal would work with the test and I had keep going back
over the dictation time and again to get all the words because I couldnt stop and start it by the foot pedal. What can I do about this.
Just took the test myself. No actual dictation to transcribe. Just a written test.
For 13 cpl, I might do it if the dictators aren't a total horror.
I just took the test today - thought it was a great test of MT skills.

There is no written test. Must have been a different company. I took their ortho test sm
and it was easy. You had to know your terminology but it was easy to understand AND I used my foot pedal.
Is the test through mttest.com a timed test? Thanks. nm
MQ Test
How long does it take MedQuist to get back to applicants once they have completed the test?? It has been a week for me now and have heard nothing. Is that good or bad???? TIA
What are they asking you to do? What is the test?
MTStars? Maybe there are some posts that may tell you something.
Took their test once.
Short ER test. Easy as it gets. They claimed I didn't pass their test and was therefore unqualified to work for them.
After doing MT for 10+ years at some of the top medical centers in the country (including currently) and ERs for 3+ years, it was obvious they were screwed up pretty bad.
test
try windows media thats what i had to do

Has anyone taken a test using
on MT Test are using Cscribe. I think it stinks, but maybe a foot pedal would help. Thanks.
I did a test for them.........sm
I did a test file for this company. I never heard back from them. The lady said they required 98% to pass. I know I didn't get 98% because I had to rush through the fairly large test file, and I was working for MQ. With my job at MQ there were some strange requirements that I carried into those reports without time to check the BOS. However, after working about 4 hours on the test file they never even had the courtesy to reply. I do not think that this is professional, JMO.

I took their test.
I did AWFUL. I'm not sure why. I've taken dozens of other employer tests and got anywhere from a 96 to a 100 on ALL of them. On Medware's test I got a 43 out of 50, which is basically an 86. I can't understand it!! It didn't seem that difficult, if I recall, and I've done so well on everyone else's test. Needless to say, I didn't get offered a job. LOL!
I did take the test,
but at the time I was offered a position with another company that I decided to take. I have over 25 years of experience in this business. The test is not timed and it is open book. They tell you that at the beginning. You may think it is over the top, and that may be true; however, they may be wanting to see just how good we (as MTs) are at doing research and such. I'm not saying I agree with the test, I'm just saying that each company has their own way of doing things. If you want the job, you have to do what it takes to get it.
Did you take the test?
.
How did you do on the test?
.
So, how did you do on the test?
.
I took their test also.
They told me I didn't pass either. I requested to see what mistakes I made and wanted to know what my test score was, and they never told me even after sending several emails to them asking for this information.
I wanted to see what mistakes I made as I didn't have any problem taking their test at all, and I don't understand it.
Test???
I haven't had to take a test with them. I applied through the job seekers board here, got a call the next day, offered the job and was told they would be send me the Lanier system and my lead would get in touch with me on Wednesday when she gets back from training on this new account. I hope there isn't a test, I don't like tests, please don't make me take a test, I don't wanna, I don't wanna. LOL.
I never got to take the test but
another poster gave me some very helpful information on who to talk to when I call, which was very much appreciated.
I took the test but not sure it went thru..

DRC test
Yes, it's difficult if you don't have the required experience. No reference books allowed. Tester will also ask you questions which you will have to answer off the top of your head. If you don't know your stuff, it's hard to fake it. Not trying to discourage you from testing -- just being honest with you.
Test.
I agree. Back when we had to fax tests, I would have a job offer on my answering machine by the time I returned home. Not bragging, really not. Been doing this for close to 20 years, better be able to pass tests. On my tests I will transcribe verbatim but point out troubling points. I.E. One time dictated: Spinal cord removed. I put it but put an * and put I hate to type this, but this is what he said. Companies take notice of that.
Look around. Take a test. Get a better job. They are out there.
x
I would ask. They might be willing to let you test.
nm
which test to take?
They have a number of tests available, h&p, op, etc. I have a variety of experience and don't care where they put me! By taking one particular test am I indicating that's where I want to be placed? I find it a bit confusing! (probably just me, LOL).
LOL. Maybe you got my test and I got yours!!
I applied for a QA job and got a typing/transcription test whereas all other tests I have taken before for QA have been for actual editing of a typed report - very confusing to me also!!
I took their test . . .
I talked to them before I took the test - just do three.
sorry about your test
You will find a better fit and you will be happy you did not take the job. On the other hand, the questions regarding what test you would use are evaluating your indepth knowledge of medical information. An exceptional MT knows more than terminology; she can spot inconsistencies in the report. Those MTs are rare.
I would never test before getting some....
answers. I always e-mail with a few questions first, and they usually respond.
I never even had to test.....
Just sent my resume, they called me, and I was hired the next day. Love it there.

The only thing that might slow you down, but maybe it was just me, is the typing test. You do not have a foot pedal to stop or start, you have to use the arrow keys. If you have worked with a company that has interface with patient info or doctor codes, names, etc., Diskriter does not have that, maybe it is just the account that I am on. The way I have to do it, is copy and paste the demographics, then go to a word document, that has tons of doctors on it, to look up the doctor's name, copy that into the report, then copy the doctor number for CCs. It is a lot of steps just to get to start the report. Then in the report, you have to do steps for the headers, then start typing under the headers, then you have to do other steps to make lists, meaning to make a number list, which you do not see the numbers, it is bulleted. So far, I have not been able to make any lines, but I am hoping that after I get my self trained to do these steps, it will be easier. The QA people are really helpful. You have email for to ask questions and IM also. If you ask one person and they do not know the answer, they will find a person who does. You can send out an email to a group of MTs, on the same account, for help and someone will send back any info that they have. I have had sample reports sent right away, which is a big help. Good luck! Let me know what account you get on, if that is appropriate, not sure how that works. The lady that I trained with was wonderful! She is full of info and the 2 QAs that I have had are really good about letting me know what I have done wrong or answered my questions right after I have typed a report, sometimes it takes a little longer, just depends on how busy they are. They will send you a copy of your report with the corrections or suggestions.
TT Test
The test wasn't bad. I don't recall how long it took, maybe an hour.
Test
I think it was 2-3 business days and 100%...a few good people though
KS Rad MTs, did you have to test for the job?
It seems like a few MTSOs do not routinely test for Rad openings; they base qualifications on other factors. I just wondered if this also applies to Keystrokes.
I did not have to test sm
I followed the account I was on at another company to KS so that could be part of the reason also. As for why that other person responded, well it is par for the course actually. There are those who cannot stand anything good to be said about KS. I stay out of it.
I never had to test
I just sent them my resume and they sent me a quick questionnaire, and I had a call the next day with an offer. That was nearly a year ago, though, so they may make you test now.
trying to take a test
Their instructions say it's a .wma file. I use gearplayer and it is supposed to play those types of files, but I can't get mine to, even when I go into options and put a check in that box. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Hey, when you took the test... sm
How many reports were there?
I've MTs post on this board say that some not-so-reputable companies will test you, but the reports you are transcribing are current reports they are sending to the hospital. In other words, they are using test-takers as MTs to get their work done.
Sounded odd to me, but so does what you describe here.
test
I work for them (Hem/Onc account they are always advertising) part-time. I did the test on my PC without a foot pedal so it was time-consuming (had to keep rewinding to get everything). If they were testing for speed they weren't getting it. I think they were more concerned about getting the dictation right. There was a sample of an ER report and one of a Hem/Onc clinic dictation. Both were easy to understand and not ESL. Then there was a test of grammar/spelling/medical terms. I had the most extensive telephone interview ever... and a urine drug screen. The account has 2 or 3 2 ESL doctors, that's it. But right now they are always running out of work because they are behind schedule getting some of the clinics started. I don't know anything about their other accounts. I just took the job because I want to do more of that specialty. It's not my only job.

Or you test and go through all that and then after all that they say this is from 4 pm until 4 am.
Yeh, give me a break. They never discuss this up front just after you spend time on all the stuff they send to do. Well, from now on I discuss all that FIRST.
Can you tell me about the test? I have done the
vocabulary portion of the test, but not the transcription portion. My intention was to go back to the site and take the transcription part today. How difficult was the transcription portion of the test? Thanks in advance.
Sure, but co's want to test first..sm
and you'll go through hours, some better than others, of gruelling tests before they'll even deal with you. In particular, I like to know their starting line rate right off the bat, as well as their policy on schedule requirements, flexing, etc. But as usual, they keep us in a catch-22..... Show me yours first, but you can't see mine. If they can't answer a few simple, vital questions up front, which ANY company would do... why waste hours testing?
no test either

does it start with an R? If so, same thing happened to me.
