These companies use VR as a back end solution. Most of the accounts don't even know the company is using VR and they still charge the same as if it were transcribed from scratch; however, want to pay us MTs half the wage to edit. Whose pockets are being lined - the company's owners and CEO, CFO, and all the top head honchos!
I am not stupid, I know how it works. I have been in this business a long time, even a small MTSO at one time. Personally, this is a billion dollar industry; however, the wealth should be shared and passed down to the dedicated MTs and QA who keep the companies afloat. But no, they want to cut our wages and make all the money for themselves.
I now work for a smaller traditional company with many accounts, who is loyal to their MTs and pays very well! We need more smaller MTSOs like this one for all MTs to make a decent living.
I may just start my own little MT business again - maybe!
