I did, but I have a real hard time believing

Posted By: VRMT on 2008-06-18
In Reply to: Did anyone apply to the MD-IT Portland? - mtgurl

that anyone pays editing at transcription rates. I am wondering if it will be the transcription rate where they try to pay you 5-6 cpl..but who knows. I applied a while back, even four years of experience on that particular platform and I have not heard a word.

I have a very hard time believing that.
I've turned up the sound so fast the voice was nearly Mickey Mouse, with almost perfect VR and was unable to get more than 500 lines in that hour. It was an amazing hour, so much so that I haven't forgotten, a couple of corrections only the entire hour with very large reports, and you're saying you got 800 lines in an hour and 15?

Something's off.

I'm having a hard time believing YOU SAW A CONTRACT - unless you are someone that
works on the inside of Diskriter. None of the transcriptionists know how much Diskriter is charging each client. So go ahead, oh wise one, enlighten us please.
I'm having a hard time believing the MDI-FL transition

was all that smooth.  From the looks of it, there were lots of problems and people from MDI-FL felt the same way the current MDIers do.

Gee, I tried real hard to find those good posts,

but all I could find, in addition to the other complaints already listed, were complaints about being in the "middle of an 11-minute job when it was pulled and given to someone else," "There has to be a better way NOT to make a living," "I know I am going to end up on food stamps," complaints of no compensation for down time and BTXT being down and MTs not being notified.

If there were one or two positive comments about it on there somewhere, they are certainly overshadowed by all the justified negativity, outrage and frustration that's there.

I wouldn't wish this company on my worst enemy, and you should be ashamed of yourself if you recommend that anyone apply there for employment these days.  It used to be a good company, and like the song says, "Used-to-be's don't count any more."  Although I don't expect them to "bring me flowers" I do expect to be able to earn a living wage, and those days are quickly disappearing.

Get real, the MTs IM each other all the time and chat sm
I talk with other MTs daily on IM and have never been told not to.  You can talk to them outside of work if you get their personal email, have never been told not to do that either.  They only limit you if you allow it.  There is freedom of speech in the U.S.  Sharing line rates is just stupid, it's your income and no one elses business, they aren't afraid of that.  If anything they don't want people complaining about them, which is understandable - if you worked in- house and they heard you complaining all the time at a hospital, they'd send you to the door or have a serious talk.  Why should an outsourcing company be any different.  We are employees using their equipment plain and simple.  As for them being like a Big Brother, get real, it's just a scare tactic for you to think they are watching your every move, they don't have time for that, they don't have that many people to do that and way more important stuff to do because we share them with the clients and they have needs too.  You are just way to paranoid.
When was the last time Orman had to get a real job?
I'm not talking about yapping with Oprah or doing a pledge drive for PBS or selling cars for GM because everybody knows her from Oprah and PBS, but a real live honest-to-goodness have to do it every day job - say like medical transcription?
I have no real headaches. Sometimes they want a faster turnaround time...
or they want things a certain way, but no biggie..I'd be willing to deal with that for up to 5 cpl than what MTSOs want to pay.
Contact said pay was on time but there's a real language barrier with their 1 tech person. nm

Better be glad you got the easier dictators soon, because you're time is coming for the ^^^REAL^^

dictators!  Be glad you got off now.  I wondered where my better dictators went the last week or so !!!!!  Lucky you !!!!!

I can always tell when the TT favorite MT's are off, because I get their dictators -- making it easier for me to get my line count. Yea !

TT is constantly hiring, so the above scenario is a norm.

It's a hard time for all of us
I know every one of us involved is very torn, stressed out and I think we should cut one another some slack.

A big huge to all my fellow DRCer's. RIP, DRC.
I had a hard time following the OP

I wondered if maybe the OP was just too upset to be posting - or did I have a brain fart - to be able to post cohesively, but it seems someone else was able to follow the logics of it through.  I can't be mad at anyone for _jipping_ me out of lines if I am responsible for sending in the invoice.  As someone else said, it was a lesson learned.  3000 lines at say, 8 cpl, would just about have paid for a reputable line counting program, especially if you add in losing 3-some hours of valuable time from reinstalling programs that went haywire after downloading freebies which seemed to have caused more problems than they solved.  Some people learn more easily than others.  kaysarasara (not defending the misspelling at this time of night)

Thanks for your replies. I'm having a really hard time (SM)
making the decision of whether to stay put or take a leap of faith and go with TransTech.
I am sorry you had a hard time but that is not my experience.
I don't spend any more time on Amphion's demog screen than I did on MQ's.
We are having a hard enough time helping ourselves
What makes you so special?
phanthom = ghost with a hard time

I had a hard time as a statutory employee, but
now that I am a regular employee and have to have a set schedule I am WAYYYYY more disciplined. I guess I actually needed that boss hanging over me (not literally, LOL) to make sure I work and make $$$$$. Best of luck to you.
If your on Escription you may have a hard time with the adapter.
I tried to have my 9-pin foot pedal that I had to use with Escription be converted to USB with an adapter from Radio Shack and it would not work. Pretty much what I have found is that if you are on the ES platform you just need to get a 9-pin. Do they not provide you with that?
In this day and time it is really hard to find a job that pays
anything decent and not work weekends. Maybe a smaller company, but the larger ones are almost all on Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs.
I think it's a lot slower. I'm having a hard time getting lines, but I'm

Axolotl - anyone ever had a very hard time making ..... SM

the required line count per day?  I have been plenty long enough to be making the line count all the time, but for some reason, I have never quite gotten there - at least consistently.  Now, I am not the fastest MT anymore, but I have always been able to do more than a minimum such as 1200 lpd.  I like the company (not the accounts so much, though), but this has made me seriously doubt my ability to produce.  Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and then left and did better line-wise,,,,if so, where?  TIA.

The reason PT people have a hard time/
is because the majority of PTers are very cavalier about schedules.  They log on or log off at will, despite the fact they agreed to work specific days and hours.  I'm sure you are very reliable, but even the company I work for will not hire PT anymore because they are either undependable or they work a month or two and quit.  That's a lot of energy the company has to put in for no payoff.
Getting hard for full time employees

Anyone use TimeTrax as a time clock? Easy, hard,
s
spheris has a hard time paying their referral bonuses as well.
Spheris has a hard time paying for referrals too...just put you in a drawing for some prize. if you win, great if not, then who cares.

I think they will hire PT if it is a hard to fill time slot. I would talk
to them and see. They go both by hours worked and lines transcribed since you are employee status. The insurance is First Health and the coverage is great. We had Aetna prior to this and First Health offers better coverage for less money. Vacation accrues immediately but you cant' take it for the first 90 days. I think you get 11 days the first year and it increases every year after that. I think the max is either 21 or 26 days per year.

Hope that helps.
I had a hard time making money. Nice people though! nm

I am having a hard time understanding why companies consistently overhire when they run an ad.
They have to know that people that need a certain amount of income are either going to quit or cut back and get a second job.  What does it gain them.  I would think this constant hiring and hiring and training would get very old and certainly has to impact quality.
Yes I thought it sounded nice. Just hard to change but it is time. Always a little bit of anxiety
about another company and leaving what you know and sort of starting over but sometimes it is time. You know, the fat lady sang.
Keep believing

The change to a new outsourced PEO to do our payroll, etc. is really scary, along with the later direct deposits in our banks of our paychecks.  The other PEO was doing a perfect job, so I truly believe the trouble lies in TT's lap.

They can send out all the LONG memos denying any troubles, but I truly don't think insurance was the only issue for changing PEO's.  We had gotten email from TT saying they were going to take payroll inhouse -- and even hired a person to do that -- then changed their mind on that decision -- and then went with another PEO to handle our payroll (which PEO chosen by TT firstoff made some terrible errors in our personal data, thus PEO having to redo the paperwork and send it out again via email -- but the HR person remains with TT.

I believe we will be seeing some definite BIG changes in this company in the near future.  I hope it will be to the MT's benefit !

I am wondering if employees with Futurenet have a hard time having adequate work flow..sm
Just started there not too long ago, but now finding out I am running out of work frequently.  I have several accounts that I can work on, but all are empty most of the time.  Have they overhired or is this the normal?
And they're not believing what we are telling them.

ATSI--I'm believing the posts from below..
I mentioned below that I was emailed asking when I was going to be available for an interview, which I responded yesterday or today,  NOTHING.  NADA.  Thank you to the posters below for the heads up about ATSI!!

I actually have two real jobs with real benefits. sm
One is SoftScript at 10.5 cents a line, taxes taken out and PTO, insurance, the whole ball of wax.  The other is a hospital work at home job, same scenario.  They are out there.
Not real sure - LOL!
Was with Atlanta, which is being closed 09/01. I think we are being sent to the Florida office.
Are they real?
Does anyone even hear back from them, I have 30+ years experience and did not even get a phone call last time they posted.
For real?
Can you please expound how you are doing it? How many lines per day do you produce? Are you doing hospital or clinic transcription?
How sad... no one no one uses their real name.
It's so much better to post anonymously whatever kind of crap you want. Thanks Rhonda for posting, sorry that these people have no class.
what???? Are you for real??? what is
with all the nastiness on your end?? I look at this board twice a week, and yes, I am busy - very busy - work weekends, work nights, work early mornings - but I do find time to look at this board just to stay in the loop.
It's probably for real......I got this too...sm
I posted this somewhere else, but we got a letter from an investment company we haven't used in over a year. They still have our very personal info and had a laptop disappear with thousands of their clients' info on it. We got a letter saying the same thing and we did enroll, even though we keep up with our credit info via the 3 major reporting agencies anyway. They're for real, I'm sure, so you'd probably be better off enrolling, but like I said earlier, if your identity is stolen, good luck trying to get Equifax or any of the others to believe it's not you ruining your credit. That really ticks me off, when companies are so incompetent as to have this info on a laptop that can be taken out of the building by anyone and then when it's stolen or whatever, act as if they're doing us a big favor by giving a free year to watch your credit. Gee, after one year you're on your own anyway, and they're not held one bit responsible for screwing your credit up. The companies who lose this info should be liable for any debts incurred by the customers or employees due to their negligence, then they would probably not be so flippant about it.
Get real!
All you had to do to get that information was to put *how to form a union* in your browser and click on search/go.  Not exactly rocket science, is it?  OK, the link gave you your next steps.  Are you going to get off your dead rear and actually take any of them, or do you expect someone else to do that for you, too?  You say you want a union but couldn't even take this simple first step by yourself.  What are you going to do when the going gets tough?  You really need to communicate with someone at SEIU or the AFL/CIO union of your choice to see if teleworkers can be unionized and just how you would go about doing that when you don't even know who works for the same company(ies) you do.  You might get some interesting answers.  I don't expect to see them posted, though.  From what I see, your style is much more to let others *help* with the research while you put up smart-mouth posts bashing those who aren't interested in the little game you're playing *just for kicks*.  I'm still betting you are as big a whiner as the ones you bash.
Real
They do expect you to work your schedule, normally an 8-hour shift, and they do monitor this. I have seen them advertise for split shifts (4 + 4)on some accounts, so maybe that is an option. I have never had a problem if I had to alter my schedule for a doctor's appointment, etc, but I don't do this very often.

I don't know anything specific about the Hem/Onc account. I think they have had it for at least 6 months (based on their ads), so I don't believe it is brand new.

When I was hired several years ago, I was told that everyone gets 8 cpl, no higher. Don't know if this is still the case or not. There is production incentive up to 9 cpl.

Overall not a bad place to work. I have been there for several years. I stay because I am used to my account and only work on one account, which is much easier to make $$ at. Management seems to have a high turnover rate, so have had some problems with different people telling us different things, but all in all, probably an average company.
I think you are right, no REAL way to be 100%. I think I am doing sm
more work than I used to and KNOW I am getting less lines. Wonder if Target is hiring??
Real MT

I'm a real MT for many, many years.  I am not a company, a recruiter, a team leader, etc.  I just want to find a good job.  I work for one now that I had a good reference from from someone on this board, but it really doesn''t pay well and so I keep looking on occasion.  I have worked for some of the companies people mention, Webmedx, Amphion, Transcript-USA, Edix and probably some I can't remember, and I have a different perspective of Webmedx and Amphion than other people say (not good,) but some people just rave about these places, and it makes me wonder who is actually answering on this board.  People raved over TT; not it seems they aren't so hot.  Just be honest.  If you are a true MT, just be honest about it.  We don't want anyone else saying a place is great if it isn't.  God knows there are plenty of lousy places as is it so if it's lousy, don't say it's wonderful.

Let's get real here. For example: (sm)
Patient A's orthopedic surgeon not only kept her out of a wheelchair at a very young age, but saved her life in the process as well. While conversing during a post-surgery office visit, he asks Patient A her occupation. She replies, I am a medical transcriptionist. He says, For what company? Patient A says, For a US National. He says, All our dictations are sent to India.

Question: Does anyone reading this REALLY think that because Patient A's dictations are typed overseas/India/or Jabip for that matter, that Patient A will find herself a new orthopedic surgeon because of that fact? I mean, let's get real here. This should be a no-brainer!
Apply this same type of scenario to: cancer patients still alive, HIV patients diagnosed 20 years ago and still alive, ESRD/transplant patients still alive, etc...SHALL I GO ON???
Are you for real?
Are you actually saying that you bring home over 2400.00 every 2 weeks. I have very serious doubts about that.
real pay day
since i have no idea who you are, i will only say that i personally sent an email to every cardioscribes transcriber explaining cut-offs and pay dates. in case you didn't get it, pay dates are 7th and 22nd. hopefully this will help your situation. also, if indeed ou are planning on leaving soon, it would be nice to have that information in advance. thanks.
for real?
So you don't even work there?  Then what you do care?  For real.  What concern is it of yours. Leave those of us that are happy here alone.  If you don't work there, then you were not on this alleged call and did not hear anything said.
are you for real?

I guess when the IRS is making your tax form due on the monday after the 15th there's some big conspiracy.

Geez Louise, some of y'all need to get a life!

REAL MTs don't look the other way
when confronted with cherry-pickers. My guess is this fake-MT is a cherry picker herself. Thanks for the dose of common sense. Only idiots defend cherry-pickers so vehemently while insulting the good MTs who are sick of it.
