It is their own platform but not word based. Shorthand is the macro stuff.
Pretty decent place to work.
Shorthand, any expander that works with Word
Great company to work for - some dictators are difficult to understand at first, very good compensation.
Probably have to make a macro. nm
k
Do you mean the Shorthand expander?

trying to import DQS expander to Shorthand (sm)
What file do I look for and where/how do I find it?  Step by step instructions would be nice.  Thank you. :-)
ShortHand is an expander program.
www.pcshorthand.com.
Oh. I use my own expander ShortHand and it works perfectly.
No problem getting my 275 to 300+ lines an hour either.
I only use my Shorthand. I have never used the Bayscribe expander..too much trouble. nm

Shorthand or ExText expander system? Which is

Axolotl computer comes with SpeedType Expander which is the same as Shorthand
Don't know where you got your information about not being able to use Exanders with Lotus, but I just started with Axolotl and the computer I got was already equipped with SpeedType  (another name for Shorthand, which means you will be able to transfer most other Expanders directly into it).  Also, I did some random character counts on reports where I used expanders a lot and ones where I had to mostly hand type, and the lines counts were right on.  You get credit for the lines whether you type it or use the expander.  Also, a lot of companies ask for computer rental -- Webmedx $250, Amphion $25 per month for 2 years, and I would much rather have their computer that I can send back if it crashes (and they will get another one to me in 24 hours) rather than have to run out and buy myself a new one in order to be able to work again.
TransHealth. In fact ShortHand is the expander they recommend for use with...sm
their platform.
Shorthand is a very easy expander program to import dictionaries into.
Other than that, I agree with most of what you said about Spheris.  I didn't care for them either.  They weren't completely horrible, but I was on three different accounts in less than three weeks because they kept running out of work on my primary.  I couldn't keep all those account specs straight and was off of QA after a week.  The accounts were serious ESL, and the reports were ultra short.  I couldn't make any money with them either.  I put my resume out on the MTStars database and accepted a parttime IC position with a small MTSO.  I made three times as much there per month versus what I made at Spheris.
word expander
Is there a word Expander that can be used with IDXrad?
word expanders. Shorthand.

TransTech Word Expander
You say that you like TransTech. What do you think of the Word Expander that has NOTHING in it? That is what has been driving me crazy. I am trying to get them to let me use Smartype for MS Word, but tech told me they weren't sure I could even use it given the platform they have. Plus I would have to pay for it, but it would be worth it to get all of my THOUSANDS of shortcuts back. I would have to start over, but words and phrases already loaded, it won't take me long. With the expander they have, you'll be adding shortcuts until the day you quit as you have to stop and look up the spelling of a word if you're not sure of it, whereas with ST, the word is already there. You either use SmarType's shortcut or create one you like better.
So again, I take it the Word Expander having nothing in it doesn't bother you? I like the company too, but the small print and worthless word expander does not make me a happy camper. I'm trying to find a different company. Also they do pay decent, but most all companies pay decent if you have a lot of experience, which I do.
Word expander with Precyse? sm
Does anyone know what word Expander Precyse uses? Thanks.
Does anyone know which word expander Spheris uses? nm
x
So if we use an expander and don't actually "type" word, then

we don't get paid for those Expanders used, huh?

This just better not be why our line counts are so low with TT  and Extext !!

Keystrokes/word expander
Getting ready to take a job with Keystrokes on Meditech software....I can't believe there is not a word expander...what are others using.
Their own platform. Shorthand, Word based. nm
.
Glad to see I'm not the only one with a feisty word-expander! I totally.. (nm)
.
Word-based, expander included, easy to use...NM
NM
iType is word based, iText Expander SM...
is included in the program and it works great for me. They were able to import my old PRD files right into it. Cost zero. You do need your own spellchecker. Pretty good program, reasonably MT friendly.
Keystrokers - do you work in Word - Can you use ShortHand - How many lines for fulltime? Thanks

changing docQscribe word expander to auto-correct

I have been hired at a company that uses Word auto-correct.  I have thousands of expansions in DocQScribe aco.user file.  I have found the file in my computer and brought it up on notepad.  Anybody able to have this imported to auto-correct?  I called the company support and they said it is doubful.  This may be a deal killer as it would take hundreds of hours to start from scratch.  Thanks for your time.

I agree, be patient - make sure you are using your expander - sm
to its fullest extent.  I have had ShortHand for 2 years, and was not using nearly as many Expanders as I should have been.  I found some lists on-line and now my lph is much higher.
Is there a way to make MS Word...

automatically double space after each sentence.  I have been under options and poking around but for the life of me cannot figure it out.  I am using MS Word 2000.

Thanks

BTW, if you will make these changes in Word outside...
of the EXText program by opening a Word document alone, these changes should be there each and every time you enter EXT. Glad to have helped!
resumes do not take that long, especially when you have had only 1 job..make it with your word sm
processor and send.
Make sure that it is the Word version not the old blue screen. nm
xx
professionable -- thats cute- did you make this mistake on purpose or really think that is a word?

I have never heard professionable before.  lol

Set up a macro...
If you find a second job that requires 2 spaces, just continue to type 1 space, run the macro to create 2 spaces, and you get paid for 2 spaces while only typing 1 space.
Yes, Shorthand. They have an address datatbase that is in Shorthand, so that's what they sm
prefer you use.  nm
I found a macro to do this for you.
This is the link to the entire discussion and the macro for Word, but since there are several macros to do it, you can go and copy it and decide which one you want.

I think one of my companies has a macro sm
that takes out spaces at the end of lines. I automatically put them in too at the end of a sentence, and sometimes when I have to go back and look at old reports, they are no longer there. So I'm pretty sure i'm not getting paid for something I'm typing. But it's really trivial, so I'm not going to say anything about it.

BTW, maybe you could create some kind of macro to take out excess spaces after you complete a document? it might save you QA problems. i have macros that I run at the end of my documents all the time -- automatically fix capitalizations, remove unused headers, stuff like that. I just make one mega macro for each client and encompass all the little macros that I will need to use for them. Takes about 0.5 seconds per document and takes a lot of headache out of some of the mundane proofing tasks.
I am not the OP, but I would love to set up such a macro. sm
I have set up a macro to align things to the left, but I have no idea what the keyboard steps would be to make this 2-space macro. Would you be kind enough to give me the keyboarding steps to record a macro that will do this? Thanks much.
Macro already created
There is a macro available that will do this for you - you can obtain it at Productivity Talk, it is one of Ed Weber's wonderful macros.
wanna macro
Hi, If anyone has keyboard steps to set up a macro for speech to delete a period and replace it with a comma and one space instead of two, I'd love to hear from you. Also, the reverse would be good. I'd like to deleted the comma, place a period and have two spaces afterwards instead of one. I got the code on Productivity Talk from Ed Webber, but it was like reading Greek; I was lost! Or, it someone knows of a book I can purchase to learn to do these macros, that would be good too! Thanks to any who reply!

Macro Solutions in California
There was recently an ad on MTdaily for a company rep for Macro Solutions in CA.  Did anyone apply to that and receive a response?  I applied and have received 2 responses.  I am beginning to think this is not a legit company and wanted to know if anyone else applied and what they think.  Their web site looks legit enough but they basically hired me without even a phone interview, and now are telling me I have to open a bank account at a specific bank before I can work for them.  Something fishy going on here?
The platform is Word. Their program works with Word but does not change how Word works. nm
The benefits just changed the first part of this month. I don't have them but I remember them being reasonabl for a single person. Family and spouse was not reasonable in any way (in my opinion).
small to medium company that works in Word or Word-based program - email me. nm

ExText is integrated with Word. Auto correct is a part of Word.
ExText is a Word based platform. When the page opens for you to type the document it will be just like you are typing in MS Word.

You use your own expander. Overall I feel it is user friendly and I like it.

Word for Word Medical Transcription
Pros and cons please.
In his ad, he's asking for Word Perfect, not Word, if that matters. nm
s
The platform is not Word, but it is Word-based. I
had little Word experience and the recruiter told me to try to find a book to learn the basics of Word as their program is Word-based.
Now I wish they would just call me back......no word no word and
What is up with these MT companies that advertise. They don't even answer. I have a great resume, tons of experience. I'm confused.
