I am not afraid of VR, as I learned it many years ago on a very good platform, but they did not cut

my line rate, but instead paid me for my knowledge in the medical field. By the way, I made very good money back then, too. Cannot allow my skills to be sold at one-half my current line rate. I have more pride in myself and confidence in myself than to be paid that cut-rate by any MTSO out there.

I have learned over the years
that if the going payscale for 95% of businesses is X and there is one that pays Xx2 There is ALWAYS a reason. It does not make good business to pay twice the going rate unless you are trying to overcome some HUGE draw-back. Think some about it. Do you pay a babysitter $20 for an hour if you can get one for $8 -- unless you have baby gozdilla - THEN you pay $20 for an hour.
been with spheris 4.5 years, easy platform, good clinic account
nm
I'm afraid their entire platform crashed.
I say their even tho I work at MQ as I am fortunate indeed in that my one and only account uses their own platform, not MQ's.
I'm afraid...after working for several years...
at a company, who will be unnamed, but is very popular these days, I have finally took the plunge and taken a position with Web. I'm happy and afraid at the same time. I hope I do well. I hear good things about this company. I just want to be happy again. My present (soon to be past) job has really whipped my you know what. I hope I made the right decision. Thanks all.
PS Pls excuse any typos
Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions -
if you're having trouble with a word on a report, etc. I always get a quick response back when I send out an email to all!
Strictly IC, good company, hard accounts, good platform.
Good pay, always on time, no direct deposit though.
Is Transcend a good company with a good platform to work on. They are advertising.

I have been on this platform 7 years now - my take on it
It has nothing to do with that platform itself but how the various companies program each character to be counted. I have personally gone to the part of the program where you can program how much you want each character to count as far as keystrokes. There can be extra added for bold, underlined, every kind of punctuation, all the way down to how much do you want each letter of the alphabet to be counted. Meaning, if someone wanted to, they could count the letter *c* four times for each time it was typed and your line count could really add up. You also need to specifically ask the companies that use it if you get paid for the ADT, data tags, etc. The bottom line is that it is not this program but how it is manipulated by the powers in charge!
I have worked on this platform for years at MQ
and have not found this to be true at all. If you are going with MQ, just know that you do not get paid for the demographic info a/k/a ADT info.
I love DQS and have found my line counts to be accurate.
Best platform ever used in 20 years of MTing. NM
xx
I have worked at Webmedx for 5 years now. The platform sm
issues are continually being worked on. I think the platform is slow when work gets low. Very flexible place to work. You get 12 hours to do your 7 or 8 hour day (35 hr/week is full time with benefits). I like the ShortHand and the platform, very user friendly, very, very simple to learn. The accounts I do are high ESL but that's fine by me. I have an ear for them, so not too much of a problem. My boss is wonderful, the QA folks are very helpful, and tech services can't be better, in my opinion. Hope this helps.
That is who I meant, worked for them years ago. Like there platform, so simple.
nm
I am in training - 27 years experience. Love the platform! nm

Except for the good platform, the
rest of it sounds just like Transcend.
What is a good platform? sm
Have you found a better platform that is fast and good for line count?
not a good platform - sm
I found it to be very slow and it took too much time to set up each dictation. Not time efficient at all!!!! You have to fill on all the info yourself, no prefilled headers.
good platform
The platform they use is one of the best out there, IMO after doing meditech, chartscribe, you name it. The pay is so-so as they do a tiered rate. Pay is on time. They used to be flexible on the hours you worked. Full time is 12,500 lines a pay period of half a month.
Just avoid any accounts that Lisa is manager of if you can. Or at least just stay a transcriptionist, do not get sucked into helping on other stuff or then you really get screwed on pay.
Lisa is controlling and plays nasty games with people working under her.
Platform bad but pay is good
I'm making more than ever before in my life on my hassle-ridden platform, so I'll deal with it. The way they made our pay fair for their admitted hassles is they take dictated minutes and multiply those by 13 lines to come up with our line counts. So every dictator with sloppy habits (long pauses, changes their mind constantly, wants to spell the nobrainers, etc.) which would be a money waster on any other account, actually makes me money because I'm getting 13 lines per dictated minute no matter what the dictation consists of. Maybe you can ask if they can implement something similar for your bad platform, to compensate for admittedly wasted time on it, and more people would be willing to work it.
Wow, that does sound like a good platform...
Maybe I should apply with your company. I need an efficient platform with hot keys and easy access. That sounds great!
Is Bytescribe a good platform. nm
:
Escription is good platform sm
The sound quality is good (on my computer anyway compared to some other platforms I've tried!), the platform is quick between screens, allows you to check past reports and dictator's past reports. I found the later especially helpful when I had challenging dictators saying the same things and could not quite figure it out. When I checked their past reports of the same kind - wallah! -- there it was in print.
Escription can be really good (with good dictators) and a big stinker with poor dictators. I suspect that is the same everywhere. I would jump at the chance to only have about 40% VR.
Good luck to you and God bless.
Platform is user friendly. P ay is good. sm
The accounts are good for experienced MTs.
I can't say I produce more on this particular platform, but it is MT friendly. I average approximately 300 lines an hour. That is not my best, as I have done 400 lines an hour on a different platform. It all depends on the dictators.
Good luck to you. If you need flexibility, a decent line rate and don't mind being SE without benefits - go for it.
I prefer SE or IC status, so it suits me just fine.
MDI-FL - is the internet platform/MS word a good
platform. I understand they have about 4 different platforms. I would be interested in the proprietary internet platform that uses MS Word. Is it user friendly and productive, can you see your line counts immediately, what type of short cut Expander is used, and the type of voice player to download jobs?
Thanks
very easy to learn - good platform
I have worked on a few different platforms and this one works well. Very explicit account specifics as well so it makes it much easier to do your job.
Anyone use the Merit platform with MW? Good, bad, average? nm
s
I'm curious from your perspective, who has a good platform and why? sm
I see you posting regularly and I'm curious what you think Wbmdx could and should incorporate to make Enterprise better. Thanks.
Opinions on Oracle? Good pay? Platform? THX
Is the platform good? Word-based? Is the new
position still recruiting? Just passed the written and doing the transcription next..
I love the platform and make good $ on it. SM
I do believe it has to do with the accounts though. I've used it for 4 hospitals and have made great money, both VR and straight typing. VR gives me more than double the lines of typing but I do think it is an acquired skill. Learn the shortcuts and use them. It is also only as good as the team training the VR.
On the other hand I've used it on a clinic account and the lines were just not coming in like they do in AC. A very heavy, 90%, ESL verbatim account and I lasted all of 2 weeks on that account.
I'd say I do about 90% VR and 10% straight typing and all in all I'm impressed with the accuracy of the VR.
Doesnt matter how good the platform is without work does it.

DocQScribe wasn't a good platform for me, so I left. nm

Medware, good platform, plenty of work
I have worked for them almost 3 years now, they are a better than average company and pay on time every other Friday. Check them out, you will be happy you did. Kim.
ExSpeech is not a very good platform to edit on such as DocQscribe. n/m

Good MT hard to find & 1 familiar with platform is

ProScript platform - good line count?
Just wondering for those out there with ProScript, are you getting a good line count with their platform?
I work on a great platform, have good QA support and make
a lot more than 8 cpl. I even have GREAT benefits, which are more than affordable. There are good companies out there that pays for experience!!!!
Anybody have any info on Medict Systems out of Florida - Good/Bad, platform, pay etc.
nm
Pay is good, platform very easy. Got line count within days. (sm)
The people you work with/for are extremely helpful. There is an incentive plan which they will explain to you during interview process. No 401 match - that is a bummer. First year PTO only a few days, but picks up the next year.
Apply and have the recruiter go over it all with you. It is well worth the time.
Good luck.
been there almost two years, really good
Right after I started with them, I was able to drag two MQer's over with me. The three of us can't be any happier. They run off DQS, but are NOT affiliated with MQ. They fine-tune your work pool to exactly what fits you best. I type mostly OPs, then RAD mixed in for variety.
They're not planning on becoming huge. They're family owned and small is quaint. They close the office at 5 p.m. We have our own mail site where we can all communicate with one-another as we are transcribing. Also, no ESL and the pay matches all the big companies out there. No honeymoon phase here, we are truly appreciated and respected. Such a relief. It's so sad reading these posts where people say there just are no good companies out there, when the truly do still exist.
I did MQ 23 years. THey use to be good sm
and then got bad. I got out in February 2006. I STILL miss the way MQ/Transcriptions Limited use to be. I figured I would work there until I couldn't raise a hand to type anymore!!!!!! haha
I learned something...sm
I doubt that had anything to do with why I didn't get the job but I had no idea it was shoo-in instead of shoe-in. I had to go look it up and read the story behind the phrase. Thanks!
Learned this way sm
I used to work part-time for a service in my former life. When I came in at 9:00 AM the 8:00 AM shift had already taken all the jobs and left the worst of the worst for me. Through much blood, sweat and tears, I became used to these horrible accents one by one and later in life became one of the best in town and had a waiting list of clients. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Let them be lazy, they'll never be good doing this, just getting by by the seat of their pants.
Good idea - don't. She was with OSi for several years
obviously a wrong move... she didn't know how her new boss is-- that she gets rid of anyone who knows more than her which of course is most people. Damn shame but heck she already has 2 other jobs and 3 more offers which should say something for her.
Not possible to be a good ditor after 2 years.
no way, no how
Good company for me for last 2 years.
Lots of work. Good pay rate. Management/team leads are accessible. Good feedback. Get paid on time.
Is 7 cpl test/3.5 cpl VR for someone with 13 years exp a good amt.
Does not sound like it. Depends on their definition of line and whether they count spaces, but unless it's an awfully short line (most are 65 char) and they count spaces and headers and footers and supply the computer and have really, really cheap insurance (and you said there were no benefits), I'd say definitely NO. 8.5-9 regular and 5 for VR for acute care for experienced. And that's with benefits. Without, I'd say 10-12 or more. Have never heard of more than 5-6 for VR, though.
and just because you have been an MT for 20 to 30 years doesn't mean you are good at it...
nm
10 years experience... that is good for 8.5 cpl. YUP, thats it.
I finally learned
after three months of lies and late paychecks I quit. Great docs, but if you can't get your money, it doesn't really matter. Don't do it!
No, just an ex employee that learned
And, they won't can you because they need all the help they can get since they are set on lying, stealing, and cheating their current employees.
Sorry to hear that you have not moved on yet, you really need to before they ruin you as an MT.
Boy, I'll tell you what I learned with my .... sm
last few QA situations, and I hate it, boy do I hate it, but I found it's best to just keep it to yourself. It doesn't do any good to complain, just got me on their crap list. They nitpicked me so bad I finally quit. They showed me whose boss.
New job. Got a wierd QA. Just let it go. I don't want to get on anybody's list again! It'll pass. Let em go pick on somebody else. I know it shouldn't be this way, but seems like that's the truth in the way it is.
Hope this makes sense - pizza's here and I'm flying here! :)
