Ihave nearly 20 years' experience and love doing
Ops. All the other stuff is so boring to me. Not many days go by that I don't have to look something up. There is always a new piece of equipment, a new procedure, and when you get new doctors coming it they may been from a different part of the country and their terminology is different for the same procedure that the other doctors use. It is a constantly learning process. If you have good reference material and utilize the equipment manufacturer's websites that helps provided the dictation is clear enough that you can figure out which way to go with it. If you can do just one speciality, like doing GI procedures or orthopedic procedures it will give you lots of practice and it will be easier to become familiar with the terminology. If you can get samples of dictations that will help also. I would definitely take a chance on doing Ops. You might not be able to do them, but then you might surprise yourself. You always have the word boards to help when you really get stuck. I think it is a great opportunity for a newbie.
Platform, training, etc
Keystrokes has paid training now, starting March 1st from what I just learned. They have been putting together a training program.
The platform depends on the account. Pay is either by the report (most radiology from what I understand) or by the line with spaces.
Is this the info you needed?
Experience and training
at least go back to school and learn what the word MANAGER really means. Most managers at OSi have no management experience at all but only have a big head. You do have to get experience somewhere, that is true, but at the very least you need college coursework or something besides being somebody's brown-nosing uddy, etc.
My training experience --
I was on the phone with the tech guy for about an hour. He went through the Bayscribe platform with me, including helping me to download it, etc. It is very easy to learn. I had daily contact with my QA during my training period via email. After I submitted my 5 reports, I had to wait until they were returned to me with feedback before beginning the next day's 5 reports. For the most part, the feedback was there and waiting when I was ready to sign in the next day.
I had a great experience during training and employment
Though I am a rather conscientious employee and follow the rules after being in this job for 20 years. I found them to be personal and the staff worked long, hard hours to meet their goals. My supe and QA person work 10-12 hour days. I think that if you go the extra mile, it is always appreciated.
Chartscript- Just starting a job using this platform. I havent begun training yet but in looking at
the manual, it looks complicated or that you have to open up a lot of thing, I-player or something, a VPN, then the platform etc. Tell me it will be easy to learn and your able to whip through reports. I got spoiled on Escription where you just load the platform and go and then hit on button to upload. No VPN to sign into and load, no player. Just one thing. I think I'm getting to old and set in my ways to learn new systems. It seems like a hassle, so if there are any Chartscripters out there who can give me some positives, I'm all ears. I tried one other job that was the same thing and even got worse when I had to open up a ton of screens just to get demographics etc..and that was before I could even type the thing. I just cant see how that would be productive. You have 10 minutes into it before you even type the job LOL.
I had no MT training, not a fast typist, and no experience in tranascription
whatsoever and started out doing Psych transcription. I moved directly from Psych to acute care transcription without any additional training. I even started doing some of the most difficult dictators right off the bat and the MTSO couldn't believe that I could do them.
I did phone training years ago on the platforrm and was paid 50.00 per call (sm)
The call usually lasted an hour, and was one-on-one.
LOVE the platform!
I love ExText! It's one of my favorite platforms. I have honestly never had any problems with it before.
I love the ES platform....
Some of the dictators on my account are so dang great, at times I just put the speed all the way up and can just listen through and upload it...AMAZING platform with the right dictators!
I LOVE the platform, the rest is what I do not like
I second that!!
I love it, and have not had that experience...
I also would never think of the term shady to describe anyone at MDI. You really need to find another job.
My experience is different - I love it.
I have seen good and bad about most companies on this board. I suggest that people make their own decisions. I don't doubt that your experience or what you say could be true, but I also know of 10 people that love the place (my team).
With over 1,000 transcriptionists, I do not think it is unusual that there may be some unhappy ones. I can only talk about my experiences.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you would like more information. I do not like to discuss specifics on these forums.
Maybe they are like me, love the platform, but can't make money with it
xx
Love ExText platform but not sure about companies as I'm an IC. nm

Love my platform...hate the company
I currently work for DSG and love DocQscribe.
Which platform are you referring to? They have several. I LOVE mine!!! nm
Love new job, people, platform etc. but BORED (sm)
The accounts I have are under 200 beds, hardly any ops and those are most Csections, EGD, colonoscopies. Hardly even a chole or appy. New enough I don't want to really complain to my supervisor. Thinking about picking up PT job just to keep my skills up in OP department. Used to working 500 to 800 bed hospitals with lots of exciting ops. Should I shut up and be glad I like the comany?
I love the platform and make good $ on it. SM
I do believe it has to do with the accounts though. I've used it for 4 hospitals and have made great money, both VR and straight typing. VR gives me more than double the lines of typing but I do think it is an acquired skill. Learn the shortcuts and use them. It is also only as good as the team training the VR.
On the other hand I've used it on a clinic account and the lines were just not coming in like they do in AC. A very heavy, 90%, ESL verbatim account and I lasted all of 2 weeks on that account.
I'd say I do about 90% VR and 10% straight typing and all in all I'm impressed with the accuracy of the VR.
It's a different platform now and my experience has been different from yours
They have implemented a new platform that is VERY easy to learn and my production has increased tremendously. I did get trained when I began working for them last year so I'm not sure why some said there was no training. Very nice people and someone is always there to help if you have problems. Work has been late only on occasion, not on a regular basis. I love getting direct deposit every week too. Pay isn't super great but now with the new platform I can make more money in less time. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Yes, it comes with Stedman's built in. You'll love the platform, it's
the easiest I have worked with.
I LOVE DSG!! Been there almost 3 years. sm
The management staff is great, easy platform, pay is always on time, flexible schedule.
Yes they are still around - been there 3 years and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
I also have 12 years in, and would love to get out.....
Would you mind emailing me and letting me in on where you went to.......it sounds like a much better, happier place. I can't see things at the Q getting any better....Thanks!
Been with MQ for 8 years and love it.

I have done ER for 2 1/2 years and LOVE it. sm
I work full time too, and we seldom run out of work. If we should, (and that is rare), almost everybody is cross trained in other work types. Some times it gets boring..how many ways can you pull out a splinter or diagnose chest pain? The hospital I work for is the largest hospital on the west side of Michigan. Every single ER doc uses the same basic template. Then we have canned text. We are also allowed to make as many Expanders and macros as we can use to achieve your production quota. We have our fair share of mushmouths and speed talkers, page turners and dead air. And of course, every summer the new crop of residents rotates through, along with the medical students, and other hangers-on. LOL. We are still paid by the hour, but that is going to be changing as we have started VR. The higher-ups just haven't figured out how to do it yet.
ER's are busy 24/7 and more so during holidays, so the work is always there. If you like a variety, and you will get it, you will like ED work. There will be days you just shake your head in amazement at some of the stuff you will see come through the ER.
I love it too. It will just be gone in a few years. It's just
nmmm
Been there 1-1/2 years - still love it! nm

I have been there for over 2 years and I love it...
great company to work for...You will not be disappointed :)
I have been on this platform 7 years now - my take on it
It has nothing to do with that platform itself but how the various companies program each character to be counted. I have personally gone to the part of the program where you can program how much you want each character to count as far as keystrokes. There can be extra added for bold, underlined, every kind of punctuation, all the way down to how much do you want each letter of the alphabet to be counted. Meaning, if someone wanted to, they could count the letter *c* four times for each time it was typed and your line count could really add up. You also need to specifically ask the companies that use it if you get paid for the ADT, data tags, etc. The bottom line is that it is not this program but how it is manipulated by the powers in charge!
I love the WMX platform. Extremely user friendly and fast. SM
I definitely do not have to enter a bunch of demographics, which is really a plus for me. I love it here, going on one year now!
I currently work at JLG and love it. Great, user friendly platform.
They leave you alone to type. Pay on time, never late. Pretty well organized and good communication. And they do not offshore! I be sticking around.
I agree. I am only part time so far, but I love it. The platform is easy, and sm
the people are great. I feel very fortunate to have stumbled onto them.
2 years at Medware - love it

Been there for 4 years and absolutely love it! sm
Good accounts, pay on time via direct deposit, higher pay than most, smaller company where people still know you by name and truly care. As for the platform, you type in Bayscribe and send your reports in live via the web site. Some accounts are converting to wav files, and some are still via C-phone and you have to pay your own long distance.
Of course, as with all companies, one man's paradise is another man's hell, so I am sure there are those who will disagree with me. If I can answer anymore questions, fee free to ask.
Good luck!
I have worked there for about 2-1/2 years and love it. sm
I had a problem a few months ago waiting for an ID for a new account when I asked for a change. I am glad that they kept me on my original account during the wait because it took over 3 weeks. I was told that the hospitals can take a while but the wait was worth it as I am on the best radiology account I have ever been on. I have never run out of work and get paid both well and on time, so I am happy.
It is worth the wait.
Worked at MW for over 1.5 years and love it!
Email me for more info. :)
I love working for them.. have been with them for YEARS. xx
xx
I have been there 3 years and only do rad. I was trained well and love my job. sm
The only complaint I have is that 2 accounts I was on went to Powerscribe. I was put on different accounts because I do not like to edit VR, so there was really not a problem. I get a lot of work and love my lead!
I agree...I have been with them for 2 years and love them...
They are the best, for me at least!!!
I have been at Keystrokes for 2 years and I love it...
I have never experienced or heard of anything such as the OP is claiming...all I know is that Keystrokes is a great place to work for and you were unhappy there let it go and move on...I truly hope you found a better fit for you...and to those that do not like working for Keystrokes, find another job...
I love Transcend, have been there for years...
started with MDI. The offshore component is mostly on Escription, and has never affected my workload.
Transcend is a good company; they treat me well and I make great money - I could care less if they offshore. Then again, I also have a Samsung TV, a German car and many things made in China!
Been at Keystrokes for 2-1/2 years and LOVE it!
nm
I have also been at Keystrokes 2-1/2 years and love it...
Great company.
I love it here; easy platform, plenty of work, great communication
@@@
I would LOVE to hear opinions on Enterprise platform for Webmedx&for Shorthand.See msg.
Thanks so much! Does anyone know if Instant Text will work with Enterprise also. The recruiter who offered me a job was fuzzy on that. Any webmedx employees who would like to E-mail me opinions, etc., I would deeply appreciate it.
I have worked on this platform for years at MQ
and have not found this to be true at all. If you are going with MQ, just know that you do not get paid for the demographic info a/k/a ADT info.
I love DQS and have found my line counts to be accurate.
Best platform ever used in 20 years of MTing. NM
xx
Anybody work for PMSI? Would love to hear your experience.
xxxxx
Same experience...awesome to work for, horrible platform..sm
I've been an MT for close to 20 years and am most productive on ER accounts where I can create my own templates and Expanders out the ying yang. After 2 months and the worst line counts of my entire career, I had to move on. I do want to point out that PM does have some of the nicest, most helpful staff I've ever worked for! The platform is the ONLY reason I left.
I LOVE working for TransTech. Been there almost three years and it's
the best MT job I have ever had. You will enjoy talking with Debbie, who does the hiring.
