I agree with MTer. I, too, work for CyMed.

Extremely MINIMAL micromanagement style. If you stick to your schedule (with a little flexibility) and are accurate, I think you would find Cymed to be a good company for you. It has been for me so far. Good luck!

Whoops! Meant agree with MTing - not MTer!
..
I agree spi/cymed is going under
I used to be a QC for Cymed/SPI. Spi continues to sign more hospitals, sure, but they are being typed overseas. So many mangers, ITs, HR people have left and went on to other companies. And it was not just fear of a merge. We must remember that the merge happened in Aug. of 2006. If thing were so great and wonderful...why would everyone be leaving now over six months after the fact? And it is not just a few people here and there...people are leaving in masses. I've sat in on meeting with account managers and their managers, and when talking about MTs...they use terms like anyone can be replaced. It sounds to me as if you are some sort of senior management for this company. I know for personal experience that they encourage their staff to join these message boards to try and diminish the bad talk. I think you should be the one to go play somewhere else...don't you have better things to do like go manage your 10 new accounts?

It sounds like someone is jealous of your trust fund. (No, I do not have a trust fund. I am a paycheck-to-paycheck grandma taking care of a large family.) Whether you have a trust or not is irrelevant. Just sounds to me like somebody is a little jealous; no, a lot jealous. There face is turning green with envy. Pay them no mind.
Oh, but I am American MTer
Still does not apply.

Thank you for the uplifting message. This morning I was thinking how fortunate I am to be working for an honest company that treats me well and I am hoping that all of my fellow MTs can find an equally good place for themselves. Keep looking. Don't settle. There ARE honest MTSOs and good colleagues. From a fat old lady's perspective :) kind of like dating (if memory serves me well, it has been so long). You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet the handsome prince......

Believe you me, you would not want to live in California. Everything is insanely expensive and everything is being raised. For example: Tax on cigarettes (I do not smoke, got this from the news) will go from 87 cents a pack to 2 dollars and 37 cents a pack! And that is just an example. The taxes are going through the roof, the cost of living is just unreal (2K for a tiny one-room apartment!) and Ahnie says the state will be bankrupt by July 17. People with AIDS and other disabilities are demonstrating and shutting down traffic on Santa Monica Blvd. to protest the cuts in health care. So even if they pay 10 cents a line, it will not go far in Sunny Cal. I personally consider 18 cpl a living wage for what California costs. And I am just sure some MTSO is going to pay 18 cpl. (Insert sarcasm here.)

What I do not understand is, if there is not enough work for the MTs who already work there, why are they hiring additional people?

Believe it or not, snakes are affectionate and make good pets. I have had snakes for years.

Don't run out of work at CyMed
Which office do you work out of? I work for Cymed out of Ohio and have plenty of work. As far as my line count, I keep track of it on my own in Chartnet and my lines always match what they pay me. I wasn't aware that they sent any work to India.
cymed out of work
I'm just curious - The talk I see on the board is about them hiring you and then running out of work, so how can they be advertising in a recent ad on this website (1/23) saying, .......is the exclusive home to the Dictation Dollars SM program that guarantees you won't lose income due to lack of work. What's up with that? How can they tout MTs not losing income due to lack of work, yet on this site I see several apparently have left because of lack of work. Sounds like they're talking out of both sides of their mouth, in my opinion.
Cymed-out of work?
Anybody out there working for Cymed who is running out of work on a consistent, daily basis? What's up with that? They continue to advertise and recruit, yet those of us who are full-time employees sit with barely enough to make it worth getting started each day. I know many companies probably over-hire, but give us a break! They threaten to cut benefits for those who don't make quota, yet don't provide us with enough work to pay for our portion of them!! Dictation dollars my #!$!*.
Anyone work for Cymed?
I am looking for a company to transcribe for. My own account went EMR, and I need work. Is Cymed good? Do you know how much they pay? Any good companies for OP reports or pain management. Ortho too? Thanks.
Cymed has work
I work for the Ohio office and never run out of work. In fact, they asked if I knew any MTs that want to work because they are starting new accounts. So, it's hard to believe there is no work at CyMed.
No work at Cymed
Thanks so much.
I work for Cymed, and although I
will not get 10 or 11 cpl with them, and will be lucky to get 9 CPL. I get a mix of dictators, some good, some bad. I have found it to be a little better than some companies, they leave me alone to get my work done. Sometimes the work is slow and you have to get a secondary account. Good luck.
I work for Cymed
and like it. It is the first time I have worked for a national, was an IC before that and very used to doing my own thing. It was an adjustment to have to have a schedule, although they are somewhat flexible. Always pays on time, direct deposit, so I can't complain.
I used to work for CyMed.......
Glad I am not there now, with all this buying up the company, etc. I was there when they were giving the majority of the work to those overseas. Glad to be where I am now.
Anyone else work for Cymed?
I'm just wondering if anyone else out there works for Cymed. I have been with them for nearly 10 months now, and recently I have noticed a lot of changes/problems. It seems that every few paychecks, they fail to pay me for my second shift differential, shorting me about $60 each time, and then I have to wait 2 weeks until the next pay check to be compensated what they neglected to pay me on the last check. Also, the last 2 or 3 times that I have had to called tech support, NO ONE has ever called me back! It turned out that their server was down, but I had no way of knowing since no one had the decency to call me back even though I left 2 messages on the tech support voice mail and I was without work for over an hour. What happened to their answering service that they always had??? It used to be that whenever you called for help after hours or on weekends, you got an actual answering service who took your message and actually paged the person on call, and I would always get a call back within a half hour or less. Now, I just get someone's voice mail who I have never heard of, and who never returns the calls...at least not mine. Also, all of a sudden, my account manager sent us all an e-mail about 2 weeks ago saying that she was no longer going to be the manager and that she was going back to an editing position. I just think that all of this is too weird. My friend, who has been working for Cymed for about 3 months, has had 2 of his account managers quit! I am supposed to start training with Transtech this week, and maybe it's a good thing that I am. I really HATE to have to change companys because I am so comfortable with all of my dictators and love their platform, but things just seem to be going downhill. I'm just wondering if anyone who works for Cymed is having the same or similar problems.
I work for SPI/CyMed
I have worked for Cymed (now SPI) for a year now and I am quite happy. I make 9 cpl during the week and 9.5 cpl on weekends and holidays. The software is the best that I have ever used and I am left alone to do my job. I would recommend it.
I work for CyMed (now SPI)
I work for Cymed (now SPI) and I have not had a single problem since SPI took over CyMed last August. My manager is great, I have TONS of work (I have never run out). In fact, I think that there is even more work now since it has become SPI! Pay is always direct deposited on time, they are very flexible, there are great accounts, and I, personally, couldn't be happier.
medware and cymed...anyone work for both and if so...sm
I was wondering which company you prefered. They are about the same benefit wise and such, but was wondering how they differ as far as management, work load, platform, etc. Also, am just taking general comments on both companies - good or bad. I have a offer from both and not sure which company to go to. I have looked in the archives, but just not sure as there is good and bad for both. Thanks.
SPI/Cymed~ Anyone work for them? Any opinions? Thanks! nm

Work for SPi now, prior CyMed...
and EVERY company has issues, you just have to figure out what issues are deal-breakers for you personally. SPi HAS started switching QAs around to all different accounts, but not sure about the MTs; however, on the few times that these accounts have run short of work for the MTs on them, they've had them actually doing QA! That's ONE position, at least, that you can guarantee you'll move up to if you're competent and want the move.
Their benefits are better and less expensive than CyMeds were, and vacation time is actually a bit better.
There are no yearly or scheduled raises with SPi.
My advice is to ask LOTS of questions BEFORE accepting either job with either company; you should also get EVERYthing in writing, AGAIN, do this BEFORE you accept either position...especially as relate to compensation, benefits, and work hours. :D Best of luck whatever you choose!
Cymed offshores work and their pay isn't great.
I have 20 years' experience, can do the most difficult of ESL and they offered me 8 cpl and if I did 20,000 lines then 8.5 cpl.
Many posts in archives about TRS and how difficult it is to get lines and their formula takes a rocket scientist to figure out. They are also looking into offshoring to Trinidad, also supported by Cymed.
Transolutions - lots of negatives in the archives, not sure I have ever seen anything positive.
Don't know about Silent Type, but read the archives.
SPi versus CyMed...SPI is offshore and YES they bought CyMed...
CyMed is now part of SPi and will be merged into the company and will follow all company policies and procedures. It's the only way the President, COO of SPi could grow the company and keep his job. He has to grow through acquisition. This means that at least 70% of all CyMed's business will be transitioned to India or Manila. The US MTs working at Cymed should be very careful and start looking!!!!
I so wholeheartedly agree with you. Don't work for KS but work for SS - another company bashed
Works GREAT for me and I love SS. I never really care what the negatives are as I have found they are usually people that can't make their lines, don't work the hours they commit to or just overall do not care!
Agree. I have said this before --- y'all whine about no work but when there's a ton of work
do you? Just wondering. I find this perceived hostility completely out of character for TT.
I agree no work
And when you ask if our work is being offshored too along with Transcends (since they were sold to them) we are told definitely not but with three accounts in three different states sending in one third of the lines they used to I don't believe it.
I work for them and agree with you!! SM
I haven't had enough work to meet my quota for the past 3 weeks and going on 4 weeks now. Oh but you must meet your quota! Ya right! They hired new MTs about a month ago and as usual they overhired. I am looking elsewhere now. Tired of them starving their hardworking MTs.
I agree with you. Not out of work here.
I can count on one hand how many hours I've been out of work and even when it is slow, it doesn't bother me much because I know it's going to be a backlog a day or two after that. I just keep my email open at all times and check it often to make sure things are okay for me to do other things.
Since I started at TT, I haven't had much time off at all so I look forward to those few-and-far between times to see what I've been missing even though it may hurt my pocketbook. I've always been willing to work extra, even on my days off, to help keep the account in TAT, but some people refuse to work extra hours or days because it cuts into their social life. I don't get it. You either want to work and make some $$ or you don't.
I plan my days around my work hours. No appointments made during work hours, no time off unless I'm scheduled, no going anywhere during those hours unless it's an emergency.
It's not TT's fault. It's some of the people working there that is causing all this upheaval, and if I were TT management, a few might be out the door. Too bad they don't sign their real name.
Agree, but you should add most work is going
nm
I agree, no pay then no work... that's the way it goes sm
It's just terrible for the morale of the crew, who by the way were doing a fantastic job. Now everyone is depressed and worried as they still have not been paid.
I agree with the OP and I work for TT sm
I have it so good in so many ways. I have never had a paycheck where I *only* made their base rate, I always have some sort of bonus. I show up every day I am to work. I am a terrible diddler and I take breaks A LOT. I probably spend a whole 5 hours of my 8 actually typing. I get over the minimum always and as I said, I get bonuses. I never get scolded or reprimanded and my work is top notch, by anyone's standards, not just TT.
Working more time or going after a certain line count on my own time is allowed. I can work as much as I like, provided I am there for my shifts, and I am. I feel very grateful to have a job and I don't feel that I should be paid over time when it is ALWAYS my own choice! I don't believe that TT encourages over time in any way. They DO encourage MTs to meet their contractual agreements AS THEY SHOULD.
Agree. Waiting for work right now.

Not enough work to go around right now, totally agree.nm

I agree - the company I work for is doing the same
I wanted to sit down and cry. It was awful and SO BORING!!!! If you find anyone, let me know. This is awful.
Because they know some dummy will agree to work for it. nm

I currently work at Amphion and would have to agree...
with what was said about the demographic information. I have been there for a few months--looking again---, and I find that the demographic information required is overwhelming after a while. I usually can do AT LEAST 250 and even 300 lines per hour, but with this company, I have only been able to get to 180-200 lph no matter how hard I try. They do have a lot of residents also. As far as being flexible--not really for me. I also think the pay scale is a bit low--not even 8 cents per line.
Agree - TT of Texas is the one I work for.
(nm)
I work there and totally agree with you. nm

I agree...no work at $20/line would be bad
KS seems to want to make sure you have plenty
I agree, FN work has dried up and went bye bye. sm
I am going bye bye, as well. Can't stick around and wait anymore.
I agree and I don't think I can run out of work, not with 4 accounts I don't! nmn

Agree...I work for MDI-MD and Landmark...
And I rate them neck and neck as far as being a pleasure to work for, for pretty much all of the reasons you've already listed. I love the way Landmark has your QA liason right there on IM in case you need assistance, too.
Both superlative companies. I'd hate to ever have to make a choice between the two, lol!
I'm not sure I agree, more work available in the afternoons but more MTs trying to get it, so we
out too, or bounce around on different accounts. I run out in the evenings, too. Hopefully, this is just a phase and will be back to overflowing again soon.
I work on Editor to. I agree with everything you said 100%
That was a great post and everything I would have said in a nutshell! Glad VR is working out for you as it is for me. Love Editor. Love VR on it. One thing tho....I do not do 500 lph. Yikes! More like 300 lph but I don't get paid 4 cpl, I get paid 6.5. Keep up the great work!!
Agree, lol. I dont even work there & I can tell
ed
I agree - Amphion's the best company to work for
f
I agree, no Indians work for this place.
I have to agree -- truly a great place to work. sm
There is always a learning curve anywhere, of course, but wiithin just a short time, my production was the same with TT as anywhere else. The benefits are pretty good, insurance affordable, and as an added bonus, the people there truly care about their employees. After 30+ years of transcribing, I feel like I finally found my home.
Totally agree with above. The work just flows better. nm
