I agree.. Too many companies treat employees unfairly and feel they can get away with it.

Too many MTs would have just turned the other cheek, chocking it up to a bad experience and moved on, which is what I probably would have done, but the buck has to stop somewhere. Good for that MT...

But they are!! Treat employees very well
nm
If you treat your employees well, why

would you make the statement all but 1 would turn on you if someone offered something better?  Most MTs I know are thankful to work for someone who treats them well, something that is no longer the norm in this business, and generally stick it out for the long haul, until the MTSO offshores or there is no work or not enough work to feed our families.  Somehow it has been lost that an employee well treated and well paid is an asset, not a liability.  I don't know about you, but I appreciate respect for the work I do and the knowledge I bring to the table and that respect comes in many forms, most notably a living wage.  You can be darn sure that in these economic times and with the depressed wages we have had to settle for because MTSOs, large and small, offshore or live high and mighty off the backs of us MT slaves, I'm looking out for #1.  Loyalty and respect are earned.  Very few companies today exhibit business and/or moral practices that earn them either.

They treat their employees VERY well.
I have been there for over 2 years and don't plan on going anywhere else. They will go out of their way to do anything they can for you if you are a hard working employee. I have never been with a company who treats their employees this well.
They're going to treat you the same as all other employees
and you'll not get your way by threatening and stomping your feet. You hold no more weight than the rest of us with them. Just how expensive is it for YOU to type for MQ who is PAYING YOU? LOL
?? I don't see how you can say that... I love MDI and they treat their employees well.
I have never had a bad experience with them and I certainly would not call them nasty.
And why do MTSOs treat ICs as employees? nm
x
This is misleading. They have all ICs, so it cannot be said that they treat their employees well.
I had a rude awakening about being an IC and will never go that route again!
I you're going to treat your employees poorly, you
.
I don't agree-because Men treat U the way U..NM

I work for 2 companies and both treat me very well. sm
Contented MTs generally don't come to these boards to complain, so our side is not represented well.

There are some very good companies out there. I've managed to find 2!

BTW, we're not nickeled and dimed. We're pennied, or ha'pennied!

Unlike government employees, we're paid on production, so lots of work gets done.

;)

As companies being allowed to treat their MT's like this.

If TT and the other companies who do not pay for downtimr/no work to their at-home MT's when they log on and there is NO WORK, then these companies would assuredly be more careful about letting us run out of work.

Discussion was about having to stick to a schedule when they want us to, but in no work situations, mgmt will forget about a schedule then and request us not to  call the office, nor email on those days, and we are allowed to be flexible with our schedules (at their convenience).  These companies who run out of work need to be paying for downtime/no work situations, and they will be more careful about surprising us with no work days when we log into the system.

This began as a discussion about sticking to a schedule, not about $$$ saved up.

I agree with all the above. Know how to treat transcriptionists, and I don't just mean on holida

MDI employees. I feel for you. One warning - you will get ADHI shoved down your throat
daily.  I am so sick of that organization that has done nothing but help send more work offshore.  But Transcend seems to love it.  I will not be surprised when we are all required to become CMTs, even though it will not change the quality of work being done.  It is just one more thing to have to buy, just to make the fat cat at the top fatter.
But what if the shoes doesn't fit? What then? What about TT getting unfairly
bashed here from some anonymous poster who can come on here and say anything?
I agree, and I feel so sorry that she had --sm
to experience what she did. I don't blame her for getting upset. I am also glad I am not the only one that feels this way.
There are many, many companies that have employees only, not ICs. sm
These companies know that you have to pay taxes, have benefits, etc if you want to keep turnaround times quick, be able to set schedules, and monitor work. I have worked as an IC and an employee at several companies, currently at Keystrokes for the last 2 years (and plan to retire from Keystrokes in 5 years). I do not have to worry about taxes or anything else for that matter, as long as I work when I am supposed to and how I am supposed to. I made over $60,000 last year and as an IC was lucky to make $45,000.

There are plenty of other companies that have employees only, too.
I agree with all of the posters. Even though I feel "superficial" and all of that by asking ab
the money and insurance first, I also figure those things matter to me first and foremost so why not waste each other's time. I have only had one place make me feel selfish for even asking, like, is that all your going to ask about, why arent you asking how great we are to our employees or anything else. Yes, being great to your employees is a plus, but quite honestly, that does not pay my bills or help me with being able to afford medical insurance. My thought is that if you are worried about being wonderful to those employees you need to be offering decent benefits and acceptable line rate. Unfortunately, those are few and far inbetween.
I agree too. It is VERY nice to feel appreciated!

Anyone else feel that these companies that are hiring should hire more recruiters?
So perhaps we'd hear something back within a reasonable amount of time!
"There are WAY better companies out there" Feel free to share!

any companies still hiring statutory employees? nm

Which companies hire statuartory employees?

TT....I agree, feel I have finally found a home. nm

I AGREE 100% - why can't we ask our employees to us it, personally. Maybe I should ask my employ
there are people posting on here who do use it, personally, and are making huge line counts. Wonder if my employer would pay for it so I could use it. Companies could train us how to use it, right, is that what you mean? What a GREAT idea...then we would be in control (again), doing something not many people can do...

Please reply...
I agree, although employees do have the option of having the check Fed Ex'd. sm

However, if they are going to mail the checks, the checks should be mailed to arrive on the day of pay day and the employee should not have to pay to have their check Fed Ex'd.  I am going to start working PT for Encompass, and the first check or two comes via the mail until DD is established, and they state in the contract that the checks are mailed so as to arrive on the day of pay day.  To me, THAT is a sign of a company that cares.

JLG may be a great company, but it sounds like they have financial issues.  I worked there a long time ago and at that time we were paid every other week.  It stated in the contract that the checks would be mailed every other Friday from the Tampa airport.  I waited and waited and when I FINALLY got my check, they had back dated the postage meter date to the day it was supposed to have been mailed, but it was postmarked severald days later -- like I'm so stupid I wouldn't notice!!   Still, things change and personell change, and I had considered working for them again until all of this mess started up again, which obviously was a  major red flag to me.  I do believe that they care for the MTs, so I hope they get the financial thing solved and reinstitute direct deposit.

Because these companies no longer care about their employees anymore. nm

I agree with the above poster. It is bad business to not pay your employees on time. I mean ....
after all, when was the last time you were able to tell your credit card companies, mortgage company etc.. hey, I am supposed to pay your bill on the 15th but it might be later than that, or may not at all. I mean GET REAL. Do these transcription companies not realize you have obligations too and you need to be paid on time. I think so...but they dont pay you..because they can. I would call them and them you want your check by Monday or you will take action, and once I had my check, SO LONG DEADBEATS. You deserve to be be paid.
Are there any companies out there that offer benefits to PT employees, such as health insurance?
I know it's a rarity but I know hospitals do.
Are there any companies who offer health benefits to part time employees?
Need insurance.
Companies are hardly offer FT employees any decent benefits so I think is going to be rare to find
them for PT employees. I would love that too, unfortunately, I work too much just to get below average benefits. Best of luck in your search. Honestly, I think the only place you'll find benefits for part-timers is going in-house at a hospital.
I feel the same way...I love working for Keystrokes and feel blessed that I have such a wonderful jo
nm
I agree with you, but do most companies look the other way?
nm
oh I agree, the BAD companies seem to be sm
The companies that put you through the ringer and waste all your time, some how end up being the crappy ones to work for, micromanaging, superior attitudes, low pay, emails all day long addressed to everyone, wasting more and more time.
I agree about some companies getting the accounts
quite a bit of companies gobbling each other up. Whenever there is a management change, there is also employee turnover as procedures are changed. Sometimes it is a matter of MTs not working out with one company and moving on to a better fit at another company and sometimes it is because MTs are being asked to leave because they just don't fit where they chose to go. I don't agree totally with your statement about good for MTs as while there may be jobs being offered, the industry itself is offering less to the MTs they wish to employee/retain, which also leads to dissatisfaction and increased turnover. It's an ugly cycle IMHO.
Agree that most companies don't care - sm
about your problems, they just look at the bottom line and if the work is getting done or not. I had a similar experience with a different national. Mom was ill too, I was already PT but was not meeting quota, partly due to traveling to help out my dad and to see my mom, also due to no work when I logged on. I did talk to them about my situation and despite being told they understood and were fine with it, they canned me about 2 months into my mom's illness since I was not producing enough. So much for being understanding. I was doing the best I could in the circumstances. I understand their position, but don't say that it is okay and then fire you because you are not meeting quota (after they said it was okay not to). They were not shorthanded so it was not a question of keeping up with TAT, they had too many people and we were all fighting over the scraps as it was. I was not heart-broken to leave, it was their loss and I am glad to be away from all their crazy rules. I just went on to work more for my backup job in the long run.(I always work 2 to cover my butt).
I agree. There are no perfect companies out there....
But....I feel MDI is a great company to work for. If you have to nit pick every little thing, I don't think you will ever be happy no matter where you work. And by the way, it sure doesn't take much time at all to look up docs on the roster. Question....what do you do if you don't know a drug name?? Do you look it up, use the internet or just leave a blank??? In my eyes, it's all the same. Research to produce a good product is all the same.
Agree. Sometimes I think these companies are just getting jobs done for free. (NM)

I agree on all fronts! Same experience, but 3 different companies. All

I agree.. It seems to me that some companies may "make up" names because they know they have t
one to post here. Can't anyone get more creative than putting Nintendon's XBox and Game Cube together LOL.. I believe the rapper is Ice T but I'm not for sure. I'd have to ask my teenagers.
I agree. There is a reason why companies ask this question - SM
Most good companies will ask you this question so that they can place you an account that is a good match for you and one that you will enjoy. Why does this irritate you??? You should be happy that they want to make sure to match you up with a good account. Would you rather they not ask and place you on an account that you hate? I would get over it.
Have to agree. Tax time hits companies, too.

I Sooo Agree...some HR Recruiters/companies

do not realize how much a waste of time it is for them and the potential employee/IC to go on with an endless hiring process of repeating application questions, testing, etc...possibly only to find out that they do not pay enough, or some other major item that is not unacceptable to one of the parties.  I have had some time-waster interviews, and I do not like to feel I've wasted my time any more than the recruiter does.

I agree, but it is what it is.....the companies don't care about anything but TAT and lines, line
Unfortunately, it all boils down to the bottom line, money.

I believe a "thank you" is warranted in many cases, but don't hold your breath for one.

It is sad, very sad.
I agree. Big companies are killing the American dream
.
I agree - speak up. Most companies / supervisors want to hear sm
what their MTs want, to make them happy - or at least mine does!
If that is how they treat their new MTs,
then just imagine how they must treat their MTs on average or for the long run! Gee Willikers! I doubt you'd have much positive to look forward to if you stayed. For that person to treat you that way so quickly -- she must both be used to doing so to others and gets away with it from the company. That gives her a lot of power to make other people miserable. I would let that place take a hike. I sure hope I don't run into her on my job search.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide.
Yes, when you treat the MT like....

I have to say if the MTs weren't  treated like they are in sweat shops and constantly hounded about their production and could get paid a decent wage, then maybe the quality could get better.  But, when you are paid on production and someone just out of school has yet to build up speed, and they are being hounded as to why they are not producing their line count, then they feel rushed and yes, making careless mistakes.  I have been MTing for 3 years, and I surely do wish I would have chosen another field.  I am currently getting myself ready to go back to school and get into diagnostic medical sonography.  The only thing I will miss is being able to work from home and be more available to my family.  Sorry in advance for any typos or punctuation errors.

They have a low pay scale. They treat you like
The owner is nice enough, but she does not like to pay until her client pays her and she will make you sign a paper stating you agree to that.  Just be careful what you sign.  You might like it if you like EMDAT.  There is no training.  You train yourself through a website she gives you for EMDAT.  Again pay is low.
I like my company. They treat me well.
industry's *standard* pay.

BUT ------ Thanks to AAMT/AHDI, greedy hospital CEO's who want more money & more management, at the expense of less of everything else (including patient care), and MTSO's without the backbone to stand by a rate that means they can pay their MT's a living wage, even *the industry's best* pay just isn't cutting it. Not as a single person, anyway.

Changing jobs would just make my situation worse. But if the payscale doesn't go up soon, I'll have no choice but to get out. I already cant ever retire, thanks to the Wall Street pigs. And thanks to greedy people buying into the MT industry to make a fast, easy buck, just makeing ends meet is getting near-impossible. I could understand it if I had no education and no skills. But as a person who is pretty much at the top of their game in MT, I'm so disappointed that my work, my hours, and my knowledge aren't paid what they're worth. A very respected doctor/professor once told me that MTs are *one of the doctors' strongest lines of defense against mistakes, malpractice, and lawsuits*. He used to thank me personally every year, even though the rest of the hospital didn't seem to give a crap, for catching those tiny dictation errors that ALL doctors make, and for bringing things that seemed questionable to his attention. As a result, we both learned continually, and quality was job-one for him, as well as for me.

Now, it's just a numbers game. Crank out those lines. Cut those corners. Someday that continual haste is going to cost a lot (if it hasn't already). A life. A job. A medical licensure. A few million in a lawsuit. We used to be important players in the quality of medical care documentation. Now, we're just *expendable* cogs in the wheel.
They don't treat you well on the CM side
You may not think it makes a difference, but it's like working for a different company. I think the staff is very abusive and disrespectful to the MTs and each other. Webmedx needs to go in there and clean house from the supervisors down.

Read ChartMatrix MT's post below. The culture really does make a difference. Apparently, she doesn't have work, either. Bad on both counts.
And that they will treat you like FAMILY, too.
Can't argue that one. I guess like most of MY family, these yahoos would never pay me what they owed me, either.

I cannot believe they still have the audacity to advertise here.
