when there is work, everything is great...but when there is no work and you want more, somehow they can't come up with any and make excuses as to the lack of work, et cetera...I moved on and am happy I did... I know people who are happy there so to each their own, this is just my own experience...good luck!!!

I think so. I have lost my sense of humor. I need to get it back. Has anyone found it? sm
I am stressed but I think it will bounce back. Things usually follow a cycle, and this too shall pass.
I worked at TC about 3-1/2 years back. I found everyone to be helpful and friendly. sm
The pay was pretty good and the account was easy. I just had some sound issues and got a better offer elsewhere. Does PY still work at TC? She is a great lady and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her! I'd say to anyone looking to give TC a chance! They are one of the better companied out there; small by mighty!
I agree. Best I have found and I have tried and tried
I was a hospital MT for many years, and then had to go to a service. I worked for one for several years, but did not get paid well. Worked for several in 6 months and they ALL cheated in one way or another, and ALL bait and switched. The one that hits home is fair, you can get a good line count and make good incentive, has a lot of accounts and also treats you like a person not a #, would be Transtech. Sorry to those of you who are tired of hearing that, but the truth is the truth. Believe me. I have looked around. They are the best MTSO out there and I hope you give them a try, and stick with it, because after the period of training you will make great money, have great benefits including paid time off which is rare for at home workers in this industry. They are also flexible, they want you to work your hours but will flex them as well. Do try them, you won't be sorry. :)
Agree. I shopped around until I found
a company who would pay me what I'm used to making, and I politely told the others why I was declining their offers, that it would be too much of a cut in pay. There are still good companies out there who don't offshore or use that rip-off VR and who pay well. You just have to pound the pavement & not be afraid to ask for what you want.
I agree. I think it is a control issue that I found
.
FINALLY - found three MTs who I agree with completely.
What great posts. I get the feeling sometimes I am a loner in the satisfaction, my work ethic and passion for this profession. I doubt like heck MTs will ever be replaced. We may switch to editing but we are doing that now and surely within minutes of doing that, we become vastly sure that voice recognition will always need editing in the medical profession. I'm not worried one bit.
There are good and bad in every profession and there are always going to be those who complain more than they work. Good golly, life and the MT jobs )or any job) are pretty much what you make them. You do have some control. I personally prefer IC but work more than the FT employee would. You just have to be motivated and focused.
I get to take time off for myself and go to lunch with my friends, stop and buy a new candle or plant for my desk and that is all it takes to refresh me and get me going again. I have certain days of the week that I tell myself I am in an office and work like a mad woman. If I lose momentum, I hang a picture of something I want to save for above my computer as motivation or that pesky utility bill or the kid's college tuition bill. I don't lose time driving to work and don't have to stop and fill my gas tank, get up for coffee break every 2 hours and don't have anyone tapping me on the shoulder to give a donation for Suzie's cat that had the measles. I do not answer the phone and I do not have the TV on. I wouldn't working in an office, would I? I do have Willie Nelson and George Strait playing softly in the background though and I get to pick my own music.
The economy kinda stinks right now and we all know it. Folks will always get injured, get sick, need surgery and we have an aging population. Health care is about the most secure profession presently and almost always and we are an important part of that profession as MTs. Even my bad days ain't that bad.
I agree. Though I have found the IC job still overhired, I do better at my employee job
I stuck it out for too many months with my IC job as my 1 and only job. I got lots of accounts and tried lots of ways to get work, 24 hours checking. My paychecks were still pale. This went on for way too long. It was TAT and overhiring. Good for them, not for me. So, I decided to go with a big national I worked with years ago, as an employee, and took a split shift. Best move I have made in years to go back to the national. I have been drowning in work and my paychecks are finally getting to the old days, 2 or 3 years ago. I will definitely not let my IC job go but I will never depend on it again. As long as I show up now and then there, I have both jobs. Use the IC for pocket money and in case the national runs dry which is doubtful, I never have to go to tertiary accounts. It took me a very bad year and lots of jobs to find a good fit but I hope that people out there do believe it is possible to earn a good living. Just trial and error. And to those who work directly for a hospital, please count your blessings. I took my position directly way too lightly. Of course they have outsourced now. But it is possible to be back to 40K or more again, just hang in there!
TT....I agree, feel I have finally found a home. nm

Best company I have found, BUT
I hate the ignoring of emails that goes on when they dont want to answer your question or address your concern. Have sent a few nice words to one of the owners, a thank you, a gesture, a comment....no reply ever. Must not speak to the little people. Same with DH. Nice, caring folks usually, then the many unanswered inquiries are troubling. At some point you just drop the issue because it's obvious you're being ignored and they don't want to deal with whatever.... so to pursue it puts one in an awkward position. In the grand scheme of transcription, this is heaven, but what's up with the stonewalling?
I found a company like that as well that
It is from a pool of work, but I do not HAVE to take it, and I do not HAVE to meet a quota. What a wonderful life! And, no they're not hiring... heehee
I have found that company....
after working many years as an IC, I felt I needed more security, such as paid time off, retirement savings, completely affordable health care. It is pretty close to the perfect company for me. I keep to my schedule, I do my work, they leave me alone. What more could I ask for? BTW, it is Axolotl Corp.
so you found a company that sm
doesnt require weekends. If that is what you want, that is great. I also don't work weekends after 32 years of this. My point is the OP has an attitude that NO MT should have to work weekends when the MTSO obviously requires it. Just because she/or yourself for that matter, doesn't think an MTSO needs/requires weekend workers, doesn't mean that some MTSO contracts dont' require it.
I get so tired of hearing about MTs who demand certain hours, certain days, gotta have their pick of the work, line quota, etc but never want to bend at all. The job is not about the MT but about the patients. Seems to me lots of MTs have forgotten that behind all of this are patients.
If an MTSO requires weekend work and one MT doesn't want to work weekends, there are 10 that will take the place of the one. I just hate hearing the whining by the MTs who won't bend at all when the work is low and they need the money. Its obvious to me that the OP has never had to support a family totally on an MT salary. It can be done but not by a whiny MT who wants their cake and eat it too! After 35 years, you should know that.

Just found out my company offshores,
xx
Company found way to handle TAT. SM
After 5 pm, they are dumping out whatever reports are in editors ques and sending them out to MTs, but just certain MTs who have high ratings and are not allowed to leave any blanks. Sounds like a great idea, except if one is the MT who gets stuck with all the junk, one right after the other.
This isn't VR either.
Agree about not going back
I can tell you via e-mail what happened to me at Q
Heads up, I just found out this is a BC, Canada company!!
xx
Can you share what small company you found (sm)
that offers benefits (even if it is more costly). It seems that all I have talked to don't offer any and I can't afford to go without health insurance. Thank you so much in advance.
Awesome! I am glad to have found this company.
x
I agree! I posted on this a while back and...sm
got so much flaming I couldn't believe it! All I heard was, Well you picked a field that provides 24/7 coverage! I say that's BS! Nurses and doctors aren't even required to give up one weekend day a week indefinitely! If you have a kid that plays ball on Saturday mornings and you go to church on Sunday, which one do you give up? Your child or God? I refuse to even apply to jobs that mandate that ridiculous scheduling.
I am no longer working there. I had enough of their crap. I found a much better company
nm
I found it, bottom page 2 Company board
nm
I found it hard to believe there was another company so close in spelling myself.

Former DRC/Acusis MTs - Have you found a company as nice to work for (sm)
as DRC with good software, pay, benefits, etc? Looks like REALLY good MTSO are few and far between.
I agree - Way back When, I thought 6 cpl editing was bad.!! nm
x
Haven't found a great place yet . . ., was with last company three years.
Just new this internet thing.
No - the company gets hit with back SS
Of course, I'm assuming that the IC has been filing her taxes, etc. as required for people who are self-employed. If not, that's a different issue.
The company stinks and if you look back through
the archives you'll be hard pressed to find a good post about them, and then they have to be from someone in management. Even people that didn't listen to our experience and went to work for them are living and regretting they didn't listen. Absolute worst company there is.
Company board is back. NM.
//
All of them, its not the company that holds you back
x
And this time the company bit back, right?
I saw these posts and they were out of line. It was like the OP was trying to pick a fight with them. I hear the OP not saying anything else now, probably for the best. I do not blame the company. There were scads of people on here that seemed to love to join in and bash them. What goes around....
Has anyone ever gone back to work for a previous company?
I was just wondering if any of you out there had ever gone back to work for a company that you had worke at before. What was your experience in doing so? Is it worth looking into?
Thanks for any help.
They are a very good company. I went back and am happy I did.
Not cheerleading just being honest. They have always treated me extremely well.
If your company is never out of work or always back-logged, can you state the name? Thx. nm
,
I went to another company that offered "much more" came back to Spheris because
nm
It is the real deal. Back to not every company suits every one.
I have been there 2+ years and never had any problems. I make good money, have a good account, don't get bounced around, and have good management. The recruiter is very good to try and answer your questions or you can email me and I will tell you what I know.
Awhile back, someone posted about a company that considered sm
30 hours a week to be FT with benefits. Does anyone remember the name of that company?
Thanks so much.
The company I work for went to VR a few months back. I was as terrified as you are. sm
It has been OK. I like doing the VR work, and my check is really no different than it was before the change. I do a lot more in terms of production in the same amount of time.
The downside is that the increased production, even though in the same timeframe, is taking its toll on me. It is stressful.
If you get an easy report that has very few edits, you will fly through it. If you get one that is full of errors, it will take you longer than typing it from scratch.
It's a catch-22 in that we really don't have a choice but the good news is that my pay has not suffered and my hands are not as tired.
If this company begins with D, your pay goes back to new-hire rate if there are ANY blanks in it
s
It was a great company before othey sold out to Medquist years back.
Now it's crap.
Wonderful company!!! Left for personal reasons. Would go back with no hesitation! nm

Isn't Wal-Mart the company that lied/replaced labels several years back with Made in USA? nm
,,
I agree with this and if any company has more
than one of these problems, I would stay away. I can name a few to stay away from: TransHealth, Spheris, MQ, DSG just to name a very few. Every company I named had at least one of the problems mentioned above, usually more.
agree about her company name.....
it does sound strange: And I Said Yes
Well, excuuuuuuse me if I Just Say No
heh heh heh (Friday yet?)
Agree they are hers not company's
I don't know about elsewhere, but at my last company I was told we were supposed to create our Expanders off the clock so it didn't cut into productivity. You bet your bippy I took them with me - saved them to a file, emailed myself the file, emailed it to my new job, opened them and copied them into my Shorthand. Didn't have to bug tech support about it either. In fact I was encouraged to do so by my new employer. It is NOT stealing when you made them on your own time, it IS your intellectual property, as well as any lists of particular medical terms you have made, etc. You're not taking their program, you're taking YOUR file.
Oh absolutely! I agree 100%. Especially when it comes to my company
the "company who shall not be named"! Yep, the fabrications that can start flying out on that company are actually funny by the time the flaming thread gets done, but sure must work and scare off a load of MTs, though, actually, by the looks of the new hires, nobody believes them! I think it works against "those" type of posters either way - the extremist cheerleaders and the extremist bashers. They actually do more harm than good for their individual causes, because they sound so NUTS!!
Yes, I agree. It makes you wonder what this company is really up to.
:
Agree. Terrible company
nm
I agree - the company I work for is doing the same
I wanted to sit down and cry. It was awful and SO BORING!!!! If you find anyone, let me know. This is awful.
I agree that they may not be a legitimate company.
See post my me above in response to internship post.
agree great company
