I agree about rarely visiting. I am off today and it is like watching a soap opera. I can't seem to pull away even though I have a lot of other things I should be doing. I have a rare day with no kids or husband home, off work, no plans. Idle hands :)

I think I worked on there with you (if you are GK). It was a big deal; it was the first account they got rid of and all because of those two that used to work there (mom and daughter if same account). Enough said if it is the same one.
Pretty good from what I've heard...
A friend of mine works for them. Said they are strict on accuracy and line counts but are also somewhat flexible in schedule.

It is a struggle though!! I have worked for several that stunk up the place!! LOL Been cheated on line counts, etc. My best advice is to see if there are any companies near you, smaller, home-based MTSOs who have fewer employees. A way where you can actually get to know your employer. I found one not far from my house who advertised on Craigslist and she has been pretty good to work with.
Which account do you work on? Neurology seems pretty much like normal

If they are offering you 2 accounts I would probably take it. I wish I had a backup for the times when mine is slow, which is rare. The C-phone accounts aren't bad but I worked on Docuscribe at Medquist and LOVED it! For what it's worth, I'm happy at KS. Good luck!

Would not be my first choice... criminal history / conviction problems. Think strings back in Sept about their legal issues in newspapers were deleted from this site. May be a good fit for you, but check it out thoroughly first.

Did you ever take a test and know good and well you aced it only to have a person call you back after several days to tell you you had failed? I tested only because I had approached them, never called them back, got another job in the meantime (theirs was fulltime and I wanted part which I got) and then today they are telling me didn't pass-- don't believe it with my 30+ years of MTing and told him exactly that. Thanked him for his time, of course. What is to be will be anyway is the way I look at life....

I sure don't recall it taking that long. I was hired a little over a year ago. I didn't go through any testing process at all... Just an interview. I have been totally satisfied and happy with them so far. Good luck!

Well, it doesn't sound much different than my situation. I have 3 accounts, was hired to do OPs specifically, I also do all cardiology diagnostic types as well, and willing to help out on other work types occasionally. I really don't think it is a matter of that work type running out.

Why do I feel like somebody is snooping in my mailbox all of a sudden? Exactly how do you know that's not me? I do over 20,000 lines a pay period at least, sometimes more, so as you can see the highest pay of the new incentive scale is a definite increase, at least for me.

Well one would hope that there's enough work to go around. If that's the case then making sure clients get their reports in a timely manner is a good thing and makes our TAT's look good as well. The idea that they'll take just anyone who'll walk in thru the door over there is a good example of how little thought the MT company heads put into this kind of work. Makes one feel special doesn't it {sarcasm implied}.

and that is exactly when a great company begins to fail. Have to start hiring more micro managers, transcription leads, etc. Too big too fast, and this is exactly what this sounds like to me, AND I have been with companies like this before, it is NOT GOOD. You end up being a number, not a name. So many companies fail when they grow too fast, not just transcription. Number one no-no. Last year the fight on who to work for was between Keystrokes and Transtech. As of now, they are both getting negative reviews, big ones....stick with a mom and pop co. who treat you right, KNOW YOUR NAME, you are not just a number. You will make plenty of money for those bills, guarantee it!

I applied for a position at Keystrokes, was contacted by the CEO saying my test scores were excellent, was offered a job and sent paperwork to complete, sent back my paperwork with all my personal info and here it is 2 days later and I have not heard back from the recruiter after sending an email regarding whether or not she received my paperwork. I'm not too sure what to think of it either. I've only been with DVHP for two months. So far I'm enjoying it. I do know that Transcend does the transcription for one of the hospitals near me (docs I have transcribed before). I will be calling in for the conference call Sunday (missed Friday's because I was out Christmas shopping). I would like it if I kept the same accounts I'm on now, since I'm pretty used to their formats, doctors, etc. Then again, it would be nice to be added to that local hospital as well, since I am very familiar with the doctors and area.
I've heard good and bad things about Transcend, but I've heard the same about many other MTSOs as well. We will just have to see. When is this merger supposed to take place?

if you live near East LA. It's a very common term there, unfortunately. I used to transcribe psychiatry and we had a lot of rehab reports with guys who were jonesing for their next fix.

I worked, ever so briefly, for focus and it was a disaster. Start, middle, finish. It was, I suppose, a great place to get my feet wet, and if they had followed through on their promises as they said they would, I would probably still be there. I had a real problem, though, with the whole smile and nod policy with the support staff. You know, they don't understand a word/text message we say and so they smile and nod?
Anyhoo, there is my two cents.

hmmmm....34 years and going ....
working exclusively at home for the last 9 years has revived my love for the work, as well as changing over to being an SE vs employee in the last few years. I love the freedom from a rigid schedule. I have always enjoyed medical knowledge, feel a sense of satisfaction from deciphering the difficult dictators and making a sensible, readable accurate report out of mumbojumbo. Course I love sailing through the easier ones in between. I guess I still find it challenging on some levels too. Maybe if you find it too hard to do 'one more report' sometimes, then it may help to work a bit less, take more vacation time, to try a new account, new hours, new company or change up something...get a massage, get refreshed!!

just on Entertainment Tonight they were telling about some pretty raunchy things, for example saying body found in net hose and other items that maybe should be left alone. It is not just other country giving out information, better look at our country also. Some of the weekly tabloids get things like this and run with it.

pointing out the contradictatory assumptions --first, the original poster was wrong, the company is wonderful and has great communication and never deceives (or leaves out vital information regarding an account). Then turns around and says communication must not be good, mgt doesn't know this is happening, who not go over your lead's head. There is either great communication or there is not great communication. The mgt should be dealing with these issues with honesty and not leaving it to MTs at home trying to help and getting all tangled up in contraindications.
.Why would a skilled MT give a company a second chance when the company obviously knew about the turmoil over the situation in the first place, and played dumb when confronted with this issue.

There are millions of people looking for jobs right now, not just MTs. It is almost impossible to find anything at all, let alone something that will let you settle in and feel secure. I would not quit any job (even a sucky one) before I found something else.

I believe it was someone who realizes what this so called career has turned into. It is sad and I feel the same way. We are not appreciated. Worked out in the real world yes, prefer home. I feel after 14 years I am a professional, and used to make much, much more 5 years ago than today. Sound like a bunch of old housewives who feel important because we TYPE for a living. Obviously you are not in this profession or what used to be a profession. Yes, I have many talents and many hobbies and can do so many things it would make your big head spin right off your little neck. Oh I might pee myself to talk to the owner of the company yea, well I doubt it, I like ME, and my touch with greatness was meeting, greeting and talking with George Bush Sr., never once thought about peeing myself, sang with Jerry Jeff Walker on stage, never peed either.

1. I am not management.
2. I have been on DocQScribe for about a year and a half.
3. I do not count the headers and footers since obviously they would not copy and paste into the Word Document. Since we don't get paid for them, why would I count them?
4. Not getting paid for headers and footers is wrong - but we are caught in this predicament - the only way to force the issue is to stop filling in the headers and footers and since I am not management and not even remotely interested in leading a revolt, I will not be the one to start this whole issue.
Sorry. I better get back to work. This board is one of the many reasons I don't meet my line count - too much internet surfing when I should be working.
