and get away with it. I find it awesome that you had the courage to stand up to her and send this notice to the hospital. Why shouldn't they know what liars and thieves they contract to. A lot of business out there that subcontract, especially hospitals, are even running background checks so they know how they are dealing with. I'd file a complaint with BBB, Department of Labor..anywhere I could to get her bad name out there and hopefully if she does try to solicit more business she won't be able to. Again, I applaud you!!!! Good work!!!!

If you look in the archives you will find a much different story about offshoring ...
As well as lots of other things by what appears to be more than one poster.
The MTSOs wonder why they cannot find anyone to stay (sm)
with their company when they keep over-hiring and make people go out and have to get another job. I just don't understand it. But MDI has been doing this for years. It is not a new practice for them.
The the MTSOs sit there and complain because they cannot keep good, reliable transcriptionists and we end up getting the bad reputation for it. They are creating this cycle and it is all backfiring on us. Either we cannot pay our bills, or we become job jumpers.
I find that the large MTSOs are notorious for not getting back with
you. The smaller ones seem to try and give you a little better care. I personally feel that the kind of treatment you receive from a service from the time you send in a resume tells you the kind of company they are and how you will be treated down the road, so if you have not heard back, they probably are doing you a favor. If you feel your resume or app might have been lost in the shuffle then I would give them a call and try and speak to someone. If they do not call you back or you still do not hear from them, I would just thank your lucky stars you found out now.
I've decided that MTSOs are sticking it to all of us and blaming the economy -
Here's my thinking -- they all have boats, or houses, or a lifestyle they love so they think HEY... LET'S SCREW THE LITTLE GUY... cut benefits, cut pay, cut jobs, just cut cut cut cut... so that MY life is sweet. In the process people lose healthcare, income, homes, cars, MARRIAGES....
so thank you, MTSO owner, for shoving it right up our southpole... we love you for always looking out for us... NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and MTSO -- the only reason we don't move on is because there's nowhere to move TO. Everyone has followed your lead and decided shafting the worker bee is a great idea. Well .. it's not. And someday you'll get it back 10 fold.
For stiff wrists, etc
Just found a great place for ergonomic devices. It is called Ergo-items.com. My right wrist gets a workout with having horses and helping get firewood ready for winter and it feels sprained most of the time (not carpal tunnel but on the ulnar side). It got so that I had pain all the time while transcribing, so I made myself an arm support that I placed on the arms of my chair to rest both arms on. This took the wrong angle off of my right wrist but it was like being in a highchair (lol). I looked at chairs with the arms that swivel in to make an arm rest but the price was just too much, especially with not being able to try the chair first and having to foot the shipping cost to send it back. I just discovered this website yesterday and they have a lot of good ergonomic products at reasonable prices. I ordered an arm rest that simply clamps onto your desk or work station and you can adjust it many ways. They also have foot pedal rests, mouse supports, and keyboards. Just wanted to let everyone know, as in this profession, our wrists, fingers, elbows, etc all take a beating.
I've decided to find a new job.
However, everyone seems to want fulltime or Tu-Sa/Su-Th or C-phone. Is anyone hiring for parttime day shift any more? I dream of a steady workload, decent platform, honest company, direct deposit, consistent QA, DSL instead of dial-in or dial-up, no need to rent their computer. Is there such a company out there?
Digital Dictation Services - MARY GLEASON, Stiff on Payment, BEWARE
This is a sole proprietor, who will let you try out for a couple weeks, and then stiff on payment. She is all nicey nice in the beginning but look out, she will rip you off big time. Do not work for unless you like working for nothing.
Many people come to this board to find out
have had with MT companies that they may be checking out or applying to. I personally appreciate any information that I gain from this board and from the experiences - good or bad - of anyone who is kind enough to post that information before other people have a terrible experience with a company like not getting paid, like getting ripped off, like being lied to, or otherwise. I've also found a great transcription job as a direct result of the positive comments made about that company on this very board. If you want everyone to post nothing but positive comments, what is the significance of the Company board?
Who died and left you in charge of being the posting police?
Way too many trying to find something to supplement my wonderful PT local that I've been with for

I've been trying to find a company with steady work

I did QA, didn't find their platform great. I've seen
a recent post where they pay 8 cpl. Sound quality and dictators horrible and no way is 8 cpl enough. They have constant tunover.
Keep the name coming for the new people who find this web site. sm
She has deceived too many MTs.
Yes, six files is ridiculous. I think we've all done ..four hours of testing to find out
we're offered a whopping 7 cpl. Why waste our time. I'm not a genius but I can tell you in three files or less whether someone knows what they are doing. I've seen graduates from MT programs that have blown my mind with their no concept of punctuation or just English at all. That definitely shows up in less than six files. Let us test and move along to the next disappointing test that will come back with a joke of an offer. Gotta love it!!!
I find it extremely odd how people from the same office seem to have such different stories. How do
you explain that. I hear many people complaining about work at MQ and Buffalo and having many different accounts so I do think you are damage control. Sorry.
I find that people who call others fraud are jealous.
Many people are jealous that others have made something more. It is the difference in each of us. I am sure if the recruiter who calls herself a hiring manager says she earns $46,000 that she does. I might even know who it is. I know I earn more and guess what?? I know one more recruiter that makes more than I do!
Being a recruiter, I know that you do not go around telling the company you earn that salary for because that is not professional to name the company, but if you think it is not possible, you are wrong. When you have excelled in the industry, it is not only possible, but probable.
If you want to make that kind of money, do something wonderful with your MT work and go for it, but you can't do it if you do not have the people skills or the ability to analyze.
I've tried to tell people as well
transcribed by MTs that are not in any way educated enough to document correctly the happenings in our medical care, and the response I get is oh yes, that is happening everywhere even with customer service for most companies. So you see? Not many are really that worried about it.. It is a sad state of affairs.
I find it hard to believe with this new pay plan coming out soon that they will be paying people
that rate and I understand all offices will be paying the same base rate and I seriously doubt they will be paying all MTs 9.50 base rate with incentive to get 2 more cents at 1600 lines. That is more than they are paying most now and have stopped giving raises.
Do tell. I find it interesting in what some people like and dislike in a company. Could you share
more about your experience...
I find that people who refuse to say who they recruit for are frauds. Nonsense.

That is the most disgusting thing to see these
trivia questions posted on each account update that she is sending out -- it was JOKES last week. This weekend it is trivia questions to read before we get down to the work-related portion of the supe email. Supe must need something to do if she is spending her time thinking up trivia questions or jokes to send out to us on COMPANY email!
This is annoying to say the least when I sign on to go to work or check email, and get that message from supervisor that says, "watch next update for answer" to this trivia question! Is that work related, or what???
Why is this person disgusting?
I for one agree. It is thoroughly frustrating to hear someone say that the offshoring MTs are just so great and the American ones are terrible at their job. You obviously are Love it, Love it poster and are just too much of a coward to state your name. YOU DISGUST ME!!!
AMPHION is disgusting
I could never make their line count even with all the mandatory overtime because of their unpaid demographic mess, and I had six years experience at the time. I picked up an understanding of the account pretty quick but I am not a data entry clerk. I resented that a lot and knew I had to do something else, however it didn't take me long to find another job where I could be productive and make the line count without having to work overtime every day. Now I am back to my routine of dinner with my family and foosball in the basement without worrying about that damn hour of overtime. Amphion needs to get a grip before they lose all their MT's
That's what I've been thinking - people must be off.

I've gone after people just as vigorously for only
Money owed is money owed. Doesn't matter if it's $10, $125, $5,000, or $50,000. If you do a service in exchange for payment, and you live up to your end of the bargain, if someone thinks they are so cunning that they can get around having to pay the money that is due, then they haven't met ME, yet! I went after a guy for $125 once, and I had the SHERIFF IN THE YARD, ready to allow me to take possession of their brand-new Ford F350 dually pickup truck that I had attached through Small Claims Court. Needless to say, rather than hand the officer the truck keys, they handed him $125.
If you do a search on here you'll find mixed responses to the experiences people have had with th

Most disgusting? I can't imagine anything worse!
You really need to get a life if that's the "most disgusting" thing in your reality. Or else your time spent on this planet has been incredibly blessed. You don't have anything more important to worry about? Unbelievable.
I've gotten emails from people from this list
They were welcome. I never saw anything wrong with it. Just don't reply. You might make some new online friends.
Supe says "they rock!" This is so disgusting
to hear every time they put some new MT's on our accounts.
Today it's all jokes being sent out in emails! Just what we need, more emails!!!!!! We can read joke books or joke calendars. Would rather not have those sent by our SUPE in company emails !!!
That's disgusting, 1000 US worker versus 600
that I gave Transcend the boot a few years back during their difficult times. They were awful to work for, and now I know why. This was all hush hush back then and still now. We're not supposed to have the intelligence to read the newspapers, let alone find the news. Backstabbers for sure, and one of the biggest games in town, when they always screamed they would never do this to us. Yeah, right. Go Transcend India!! And they don't even have the guts to call us US MTs - we're domestics.
U don't need to worry - half these people sound like they've got -
.
I've heard the pay isn't that great, nice people tho. NM
:
Now that's depressing and disgusting at the same time. I hope you found something else.
I've feel for the same thing and tired of dishonest people.
My favorite was when a recruiter would actually do all of her recruiting by pretending to be an MT. She went to great length singing the praises of her company, even though others were badmouthing the company. She was very convincing until I put two and two together. Actually, she wasn't too smart. She private emailed me from the board as the MT saying that she would contact her boss to recommend me.. Well, though and behold her boss and her both had the same email. Now, do I look like a moron or what. So, honestly, I rarely trust those cheerleaders on here and just take it with a grain of salt because you never know who your talking to.
RE: I've been with Transform for 2 months and so far, so good. Nice people to work with, (sm)
pay is on time, direct deposit, etc.
When I find decent people who know the value of decent wages, I will!

Trying to find info on Encompass on this board, can't find any recent. sm
Anyone have any current info. Any employees out there? Give me the low-down if you can! Thanks a million.
I like Sue but Deb is another story.
She needs to get a life and get out of management. She is one of the most unfair people I have ever met in my life. She has pets that get the cream, and the rest of the world suffers. Just pray she doesn't go back to typing, she is a big-time cherrypicker.
There is WAY more to this story and I'd like to know what it is.
I received the same letter and I have no qualms whatsoever about posting what it said because I've already consulted an attorney regarding it and know that I can't be held accountable regarding internal corporate privacy issues because I no longer work for them. I'd like to know if this is a tactic that Transcend is using to either intimidate those who have left or try to cover their own behinds from future lawsuits.
The letter that I received had a release that said: ""Based upon the above, you hereby release, for yourself and all people who may act on your behalf, Transcend, and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from all claims or causes of action, arising from or relating to your employment with Transcend, including, but not limited to, any such claims or causes of action arising under any Federal or State law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1965 and 1991 or the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, as amended."
Several people I have spoken to received this same letter and were asked to sign the same waiver. I have no intention of signing this, and in fact, the attorney that I consulted found it very interesting that they would need to be released from any future actions and told me to keep my eye out for future class action lawsuits. So, yes, there is WAY more to this than is being said, but it isn't on the part of the MLSs. You may be happy working under those circumstances, but don't bash the ones that aren't/weren't and try to make it look like they're the ones hiding something. If the MLSs were the ones in the wrong, you can bet Transcend would have had their attorneys on it in a New York minute, but instead it's the other way around. They feel that they have to have ex-employees sign papers to release THEM from lawsuits. Why?
More to the story????-sm
It's just wonderful for you to stick up for Keystrokes, but I draw the line at letting you insinuate that there was more to my story than what I stated. HOW DARE YOU!! I have told my side with nothing left out, and you know nothing of the situation, so please keep your slanderous comments to yourself. I took that job in good faith, left my other job, was promised to be paid becasue the "account" didn't go live on the date I was hired for, told "not to worry" I would be covered, and NEVER HEARD ANOTHER WORD. What do I have to do to make you understand that all your excuses for Keystrokes aren't worth a fiddler's fart to me when I don't have a job. Next time, think about what your are accusing someone of BEFORE you spout off for your wonderful company.
More to the story
Melody did not go to OSi from L&H. She has only been with OSi for a couple yrs. Andy, Teresa and Beth were with L&H (Atlanta office). I don't know what happened to them when they started their own company. Down hill all the way. Greedy I guess. OSi is one of the worst companies out there. I worked there for over 2 yrs and left about 3 months ago. Steadily watched it get worse!
The Trans-Tech folks were out of the Houston office of L&H.
The Dallas office was one of the best offices of L&H.
My story
My process went smoothly, over about a week's time. I spoke with recruiter and then spoke with the transcription supervisor, which was nice because you can ask specific questions about the accounts, etc. I delayed things several days until I made my decision, but then gave two weeks notice to my other employer and started promptly after that.
And there is so much more to that story. sm
The field is changing. Why pay a good experienced seasoned MT 10 cents a line and benefits (what I used to get) when an Indian MT will do it for 2 cents and then pay 3 cents to have it proofed. Small MTSOs can't compete and are selling out. Some are holding by their fingertips to the chasm that has opened at their feet, competing with the larger companies who underbid them because they can. Offshoring has ruined this business and it has hurt a lot of people, not only in the MT industry. Those who defend it have sold out a whole lot more than they may ever know.
Same story with me -
Been with them nearly 15 months and now cannot meet my line counts because of constant NJA. Not a single e-mail I have sent to my supervisor concerning workflow has been addressed. I am keeping my end of the deal - high QA scores, working when I say I am going to work, and up until just recently had no problem AT ALL meeting my line counts. I am also looking elsewhere. What a huge disappointment they have been!!!
Try this story. sm

Manor Care's profit drops 39% in first quarter
By HOMER BRICKEY BLADE SENIOR BUSINESS WRITER
Manor Care Inc., the nation's largest nursing-home operator, reported yesterday that its first-quarter profit dropped 39 percent, largely because of accounting for stock rights given to many of its workers.
This month, many companies will begin accounting quarterly for costs of stock options for executives.
But Manor Care said only a small portion of the $11 million accounting hit for employee stock in the quarter was related to options. The majority of the one-time charge involved stock awards for non-executives.
The firm also said it is getting out of the medical-transcription business, resulting in an additional accounting charge of $7 million. It said it is in discussions with third parties to evaluate alternatives for that business segment.
Manor Care reported profit of $24.5 million, or 30 cents a share, for the first quarter, after one-time charges. That compared with $40.4 million, or 46 cents a share, in first-quarter 2005. The firm also said its revenues in this year's first quarter totaled $869.3 million, down slightly from $879.2 million a year ago.
Excluding the one-time charges, the firm earned 51 cents a share, a penny above the consensus of analysts polled by Reuters' Estimates.
Several analysts said Manor Care did well despite significant cuts in Medicare-reimbursement rates.
Despite the one-time charges, First-quarter operating performance was particularly strong, Paul Ormond, chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. He noted that occupancy rose to 90 percent, the firm's highest in more than a decade.
Geoffrey Meyers, Manor Care's chief financial officer, that Manor Care decided to leave medical transcription because it had not been consistently profitable.
The company's shares closed at $43.41, up 16 cents, in New York Stock Exchange trading.
Manor Care reported in its proxy statement this month in advance of its May 9 shareholder meeting that five top executives made about $19 million from exercising stock options in 2005 and were granted new stock options worth an estimated $9 million.
The company declared a cash dividend of 16 cents a share yesterday, payable May 26 to holders of record May 12.

I think you have not gotten the whole story - sm
I still have a team lead and shift leads. I cannot speak for other teams, but for my team this is the case.
same story with me
I had to purchase a C-phone - $150 (used). switch cable providers to get unlimited long distance ($40 a month higher) which includes installation fees, not to mention the hassle of coordinating that. I already had an Expander program or that would have been another $100. And then I start on an account where there was no way to go above 100 lines an hour. Believe it or not; as you wish. It happened to me also.
I know there is more to THIS story. (sm)
Maybe that person was someone who had to be chased down to work. They only put up with that for so long.
