So far, everyone has been friendly and helpful. She did mention that it was tough to get on 1st shift, but I was not looking for 1st shift anyway. As a bonus, the shift differential for 3rd is 2 cpl -- I can drink some coffee for that.
Good luck to you.

Medquist Part-Time and new employee training
How many hours per week does Medquist require for part-time employee? Currently have a full-time job but looking to supplement with part-time transcription position. How is training for new employees? Can this be done at night? Was offered position with Spheris but training was M-F 8-5, so wasn't able to accept due to the training requirements. Also, is training paid at MedQuist?
Consider getting a part time IC position
Trust me....all companies have this problem at some point.
My part-time position is with . . .
SPi-BPO.com, and after 20 years of, as you said, bouncing around, and after just over a year with them, I don't intend to go anywhere else.
They started me at 8-cpl and, after a year, I've gone to 9.5-cpl--and that's for government work--private is probably higher.
The PT minimum is 4000 lines/2 weeks, very reasonable, and they quite often have extra work available if you want to do more.
The ONLY caveat would be your mentioning wanting IC status; they only offer employee status, so the only problem might be if you have some reason for a strong preference for IC.
Otherwise, they're great--and at least the government work, I guess because accuracy is so strongly needed, I've encountered only one or two ESLs, who were nonetheless fairly comprehensible.
Good luck,
CTT
Anyone know of a company looking for 13 years experience to work flexible part-time shift
I'm getting my real estate license but still want to keep my transcription job part-time. I'm looking for a job that will allow me to work about 20 hours a week and still have the flexibility to show a home on the spur of the moment. Thanks, I would appreciate any info!
Which companies offer PTO for part time employee status, along with contributing 401K, shift....sm
differentials, and incentive based pay plan? I think I covered it all. Mostly looking for PTO as a part time employee. Thanks for your replies.
Part & Full Time Data Entry & Document Coding Position - Sara McDaniel - HR Administrator
This company has ads on other web sites. You have to pay them $55 to do a background check up front. Guess what? If you don't get hired, they've got your $55. Don't know if it's legit - just posting facts.
They no longer hire part-time and may be eliminating part-time employees within the next 6 months.
They are going to have those that are PT go FT if possible. Some accounts require 1 weekend day, but not all. Most transcriptionists have 1 account with 1 back-up account. I know that they are hiring for hospital accounts in medical records and radiology right now.
No PTO for part-time. Not sure if you can work part-time or not since recent rule change. sm
You do pay a deposit for their equipment.
There is a part-time and a flexible part-time, just left there and they offered
me both. Flexible, however, is more or less when they need you (I.e. weekends), part-time is fixed hours.
between 8.5 and 10 plus shift differential and a high hourly for training and for holidays. nm

I need a second shift editor position
I am seeking a second shift position as an editor, full time employee status. Please email me if you are aware of such an opening.
Ya know, even if I spend time during my shift or after that shift
it is still MY time, expected by the company, and I am not getting paid for it regardless. I don't answer my phone while I am working, never did, never will. What other profession, while probably punching a clock, do folks work for free? If I worked in an office doing this, that time would be paid - say 15 minutes a day x 5 days a week at even $10/hour = $50 a month - and it is more time spent than that to deal with the email thing and the reminders and the changes in specifics and logging in and out of 3 different accounts when primary is out of work. GRRR.
I don't change jobs easily either, glad you are happy where you are - but producing 1400 lines of ACCURATE text will end my career soon (and probably yours also) and then what are we all to do? My goal is not to work more, work harder and longer hours to produce a salary I can live on.
Yes I know they hire part time because I referred someone there for part time.
They are internet based.
From what I understand, the part-time positions will be only be for those that are already part-time
It is not a restructuring of the company, just of some of the existing part-time positions.
I know that there are a few employees who have been with Keystrokes for many, many years who are part-time and they will not displaced.
Other than that, there have been many discussions why there will not be any new part-time employees hired, and I really don't think they will back down on that.
Where'd you get the changed her mind about the position part??

I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time? I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to. If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info. Thanks!
Not what I was told; 3500/wk part-time & 6000 wk/full-time. nm

Precyse Solutions is hiring part-time and full-time right now.
Saw this on their website.
i work 3 part-time jobs now. it can be confusing if you are learning both at the same time, but sm
other than that not a problem for me. best to get one down before starting to other or you might become overwhelmed.
MDI-MD: What are daily line requirements for full-time/part-time? Thanks! nm

I have one full-time job and 2 part-time jobs. It can be tricky at times, sm
but at least I now have plenty of work always. I have some big financial goals, and right now that seems to be the only way to accomplish it. I can't see any reason why it would not be legal -- why would you say that? I am cheating no one, except myself (out of sleep and a social life). Fortunately, I am single with no children or anything. I cannot imagine doing this if I had a family. At least my dogige understands.
Full time/part time based on # hours or
# lines per pay period, nothing to do with quality. The lower the quality the higher the pay it seems.
Solution: Find another job, part time or full time.
Post your resume, hope for the best.
Depends on how flexible you need to be and if full-time or part-time
They are a little more flexible if you are part-time. Not so much full-time, where you can be a little flexible within the day (not a strict 8-5), but if you are scheduled for Monday, you have to work Monday unless you request off, and if you are scheduled for a Holiday, you have to work the holiday, unless you request off. They encourage you to clock out every time you are not typing to keep your lph rate up, which means an 8 hour day can turn into 12 hours at the computer. If they run out of work (which they do quite often), you have to make the time up. They are also leaning more towards Voice Recognition, so MTs are getting trained on that, but not sure what percent will go that way. It does affect how much work you may get though in the other accounts.
They are advertising for full time HIM now, do they still hire part time? nm

OSi with part time health insurance and paid time off
OSi does offer health insurance and paid time off for part time. Yes, there have been changes. Yes, there will probably be more changes. I don't see anywhere that hasn't had changes. If they don't change they will be out of business the way the economy is these days, just like some other companies. If they don't make money, then I don't make money. So, what is so different with OSi compared to other companies? I see complaints constantly about all companies. I don't think it is the fault of the company that they outsource or use voice recognition. It just is life on life's terms these days. There is still enough work for us, at least for me.
how about DEP training time?
It took me 3 hours to hook up the internet as I had problems because I have a broadband phone unit and needed to go back and forth between companies, 7 hours for the course, 2.5 hours to complete the training tapes. Lost so much money this pay it is laughable. And had a funeral the second week to top it off. Oh yeah, MQ will pay me for DEP training (measy 10 bucks an hour) and they won't give it to me in the same PAY PERIOD. Go figure. And you have to train by force. Enough already.
Maybe they work another shift and this is their time off- duh

Its holiday time. I just took a part time job at K-Mart and
it is really quite fun because I get to interact with humans and do not have to stare at a computer. My part time benefits included an employee discount on merchandise from day 1 of employment, can put that on lay-away, and if the item goes on sale before you pick it up, you get it at the sale price as well as with the discount. This is a Super K-Mart, and with kids this will really help with paying for their presents. It sure beats running out of work every day and wondering if I am going to have any money for gifts.
Question on MDI-MT full time vs. part time
Does anyone know how many lines per week or per pay period are required at MDI-MT to be considered full time? Thanks.
Part-time MT getting full-time work ??????
TransTech should not be giving out work to PT people on their DAY OFF, or any other time BEFORE a full-time MT has enough work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Full time is 40 hours, and yes they have part-time.

TRUST me when I say...It is not worth your time, even part-time..
I hired on with them part-time on or about September 8, kept getting run around as to when I was to actually start transcribing. Team lead emailed to say she had a very very good account for me to start on. I was trained 25 minutes. Then, there was an issue with my ID and password to get into the system. After about 2 weeks, got ID and password, but it didn't work. Then I get an email from another supervisor advising that I would be on another account and they seen the specs. So, I get an email some time around the first of October saying I can start typing. In the meantime, Focus has a MT Forum, and I'm reading all these negative remarks from the MTs stating a lack of communication company wide, to the terrible QA department being not all on the same page, and being deducted points for blanks and such. By this time, I was exhausted from waiting, and exhausted from hearing all the complaints from the MTs actually working there, that I sent an email to team lead saying, I had changed my mind about working there. This is the most chaotic, disorganized, miscommunicated place I have ever seen in my entire 32 years of being an MT. (If there are any errors in this forgive me. Don't feel like proofing this)
Companies allowing window of time for shift
I'm interested in companies who allow you to complete your shift within a window of time instead of requiring straight 8 hours, employee status. Any info would be appreciated.
web site says MT-s go through a 28 week training process. That's a long time!

Were you full time or part time?
I would like to get about 1500 lines a day in if possible - not possible? The pay seems good.
Not sure about part time but for full time you get SM
up to 12 hours to do a 7 hour shift. Webmedx requires 35 hours a week for full time, not 40.
Full Time vs. Part Time
Can anyone tell me how many minutes of dictation is considered to be full time? I do clinic dictation and am wondering if I am actually doing part-time work or full time?

I had a very high paying position....once upon a time....
first of this year. Had it for years. Then, one day, it was gone. Offshored. Gone was my 50K year job. It can happen to you, too, sister. Since the first of the year, I have diligently searched for a job. However, I have been lied to again and again about what I was committing to, carrott dangling that if I would just do acute care until a RAD account came on board that never materialized, a Monday-Friday schedule that turned out to be 7 DAYS A WEEK, an MTSO wanting me to pay them to work for them by charging me their software license fee, horrible Indian dictators, etc., and on and on. Yes, something has definitely changed in this business. For me, the hardest part has been working for a really great company, being respected, pay always and everyt ime on time, setting my own schedule, only to be thrown into the real world of MT as it exists today with unscrupulous MTSOs (LARGE AND SMALL) thinking they can take advantage or worse that you are so desperate for work you will commit to anything.
The things of concern written by the OP are real. Just because you have a good job now does not mean you will have it tomorrow. With your attitude, I would suggest you not come here to get support in your time of need since you obviously have no empathy for your fellow MTs and what they are experiencing today.
I, too, second 200% the original poster's comments.
Need help with Webmedx's time clock. I am contemplating a position sm
with them and right now I have to clock in and out and hate it. I wonder if I'm jumping right back into the same situation as I was told they, too, have a time clock. After being an IC for so many years, I really hate this.
So, how is it? Do you find that Webmex is a little flexible at least? I just don't know if I should keep looking or what. Thanks so much for anyone with experience with their time clocks!
part-time IC is 5000/pay period and full time IC is 10,000 per pay period. Need to talk with
recruiter about cpl, I'm sure it varies with experience.
Looking for part-time
I am looking for a part-time or IC (part-time hours) transcription position with flexible hours. If anyone can direct me to specific companies who may consider this, I would really appreciate your help.
looking for part time
Webmedx used to hire part time and they are looking for people. Also look up Amphion on the web. they are in Wisconsin. They have hired part time in the past, may still be looking - nice people, steady company.
Part time
Another point is when the hospitals outsource and MTs lose their jobs, this is another area where the MT loses! When we were outsourced a year ago, the hospital tried to really pat themselves on the back and, instead of just being honest and saying it was all about money, they tried to say they made their outsourcing choice based on how important it was that we get comparable benefits to what we had. Yeah right! In this area any part-time hospital employee gets PTO and even more importantly they are able to participate in insurance at a higher rate, but still a great deal compared to buying it privately. I always felt the benefits were the trade off for the so, so salary with the 3% cap on raises over the years.
Yes. I'm part-time, and I was able to
pick my shift. No nights or weekends unless requested, no C-phone, very rare downtime. Most importantly, the staff is available for questions, but otherwise leaves you alone to work. I have no ESLs in the account I'm on. No place is perfect, but they're definitely worth considering.
Part time
Part time is 3000 lines a wk, 6000 in a 2-wk pay period, minimum of 20 hours. I've not had problems being flexible but you do commit to set hours. Have had some sparce times lately but so has my other account elsewhere. I do agree you do not always get all your questions answered. They are worth a try. I've had my issues but will stick around for now.
part time
DSG hires part-time.
