Here is my advice.......RUN, do not walk to the nearest phone book. sm
Look up Legal Aid of whatever city or state you live in. They are a group of lawyers and paralegals that do work for free or sliding scale, etc. They will do all the leg work for you. You supply them with copies of your documentation and any other records you have kept regarding email, snail mail, or phone calls.
The most important thing... when you talk to and deal with these people, document, document, document. Document EVERYTHING
Then go to the Better Business Bureau and let them know what is going on.
Call your state Atty General's office and tell them what is going on and give them copies of any documentation you have.
Then I would quit. I know she probably can't afford to and it is experience she may not be able to get anywhere else, but as the post below said, they aren't going to give her a good reference anyway if they have not responded to her mail and phone calls.
Let us know how it goes. Keep us posted.
Well, what you going to do when you have aging population and
not enough people here in the US to take care of the amount of work they have- sure you outsource to India, right? I was not on this site when this article came out back last year in the paper- I so wished I could have posted then.
You have never heard that our population is aging?
Have you ever heard of baby boomers?
It's amazing how people will read something and take it so out of context. Aging population or workforce means in general - not just MTs.
That "aging population" excuse is sure a load of
done at home, and requires lots of experience, older MTs are an asset, NOT a liability. Shame on them for using such a lame excuse.
"Aging workforce" refers to the population in general - not MTs.
It's pretty well documented that with the baby boomers aging, that anything related to healthcare including transcription will increase in demand. Supply will not exceed that demand.
.
Exactly. The majority of the population can't afford health care.
Huh. Sound familiar?

Yeah, the Missouri and Kansas boards haven't been touched for a year maybe! There doesn't seem to be many successful transcription companies in Kansas City.

River City Transcription
Does anybody know anything about this company? They offered me a position, but I want to make sure before I accept. Thanks!
River City Transcription
I'm not so sure about this company. They want me to have Word 2000 or 2001 installed on my computer. I told them I have not used that version of Word in years and that I have Word 2003 and 2007. I like to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and software. Not so sure about these people...sounds kind of old fashion to me.
River City Transcription
They never got back to me when I told them that I have MS Word 2003 and also a copy of 2007. I do not think I am going to waste my time with this company.

Iowa City, Iowa PJs
To be fair to any company in Iowa, the PJs Transcription I am referring to is out of Iowa City, Iowa. Just thought I'd clear that up, in case there are 2 in Iowa with the same name.
