Wouldn't know they never called me back
after hiring me.
I heard back the next day. I wouldn't really

bother with them.   I thought that maybe they represented companies that might not post to the job boards and who might offer better than most jobs - like a headhunter.  After their testing they put me in touch with a company that regularly posts on the job boards and who currently have an ad running.  I had recently turned down an offer with this same company.  There was no difference in pay in what I was offered going through TM than I did going directly through the company.  TM said they could sometimes negotiate a higher rate, but it didn't happen.

I think the company is only 2 people and I don't think it is a FT job for either one of them - at least that is the impression I got.  Since they have a current ad maybe they have been swamped with resumes.

After you test with TM you still have to test again and if you don't get more $ you're better off applying to companies yourself and at least you won't have to go through an additional round of testing and interviews.

I don't know how long this post will last as in the past any post that doesn't portray them in a positive fashion gets deleted.

The 'reply' wouldn't have come back undeliverable

because obviously someone took the time to make a yahoo account almost identical to the poster's real email.  If the VP had replied to it, that would have been the end of it because the OP would never have known about it until she tried to log in to work. The VP sent it to the 'correct' email account as notification of acceptance of resignation.  Why?

More food for thought:  This was a '2-week' resignation letter. Why was the OP locked out after 1 day?  If not one day and was the full 2 weeks, why did the VP wait until the last moment to send a reply so that the OP would be aware?  Isn't normal procedure to accept resignation upon receipt?

Glad to see your moniker back, have
missed you, GP. You hit a nerve with me because I was employed at a hospital, but laid off in 2007 because they were going to save so much money using India or Pakistan, but there's this: By the time they pay QA and editors over here American money and pay the tx's over there, where did they save any money? The equipment is the most exorbitant expense which they still are paying for since they are the parent company of this fiasco. Where they could have saved money was getting away from physical charts and letting go half of the gossiping clerks they had in the clerical side who were mostly concerned about their next dinner, luncheon, who was doing what and how much WE might or might not be making! oh, well, off the soap box...for now.
No, I wouldn't go back. I lost too much money there ALWAYS running out of work (sm)
There were days at MQ I would type 2 reports during my shift, and I had a LOT of accounts in my pool!  A friend of mine who started at the same time I did with MQ is still there and she is always out of work. I just can't take the chance.
Don't sweat it. Be glad you didn't hear back.

I wish people wouldn't be so encouraging. Then maybe we wouldn't constantly run
.
At my company I'd ask for $18; probably wouldn't get it, but I wouldn't go lower. nm

I am so glad, so very glad that finally I have reached
the age that if we are low on work, I just take off. No problem at all and love the extra day or so off. I now have worked since the 70s and finally made to retirement age, get SS plus other retirement money coming in and thank the good Lord do not have to worry about if there is work or not. BTW, when I worked inhouse never ran out of work ever, only when transferring out to company do they run out of work. If I had to raise a family now I would most certainly cross train on other accts at my place but only have 1 that I work on, by choice.
I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that, I didn't think anyone used it anymore! I'm glad to hear so
I'll definitely check them out!
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
I had the same thing happen, went back to MQ, went back to KS and could not be sm

happier.  I am on a different account then the first time and it is as if it is a different company.  I have a great lead who leaves us alone most of the time but is there when I need her.  It showed me that you can have a different experience within the same company.

I have to say that in the few weeks since they have the new office, it is much more organized probably because there are a lot of people there all the time.  I had the pleasure of speaking to the new HR manager who was HR at a hospital, got my questions answered about insurance as I am going to full time and had a live voice pick up the phone.

Not all change is bad.  This is one company that has changed for the better.

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
Back away from the hoops!! Back away!
I worked for them about 6 months - same mess to get hired - FBI check is right! It was unreal. I was so excited, though - they promised me the moon, and I really thought I had found my new home after centuries with that other company who shall not be named.  What a disappointment, to say the least. All around horrible experience, and I would NEVER recommend them. Certainly they were not worth the hoops at all. Total waste of effort.
I wouldn't do it again...
I was trained on one portion of an account (4 new hospitals they got), and it was GREAT! I loved it, told my husband I was SO happy working with them. Then, training ended ... I got switched to the hospital I was hired for (although no one told me that during training), and OMG - it's AWFUL. I can't make a dime. It's either all ESLs that I absolutely cannot understand (and I've been doing ESLs for a long time), or English-speaking guys that are terrible. My rate has gone down tremendously. And, if you have tech problems - you have to e-mail tech support and wait for them to respond. So, like this weekend, I have tech problems and am sitting here with my thumb up my nose waiting for a dopey teckie to get on my problem. I begged them, in an e-mail of course, to CALL me so we could resolve the problem and I could get back to work. Still waiting for that phone call, and it's been since yesterday evening. So, no $$$. About a month ago, I would have told you - GREAT place to work. Right now, I'd have to tell you to RUN AWAY!
I wouldn't do it

Diddles:

To me these things are a big red flag about a company. My reaction would be that they are very controlling and if they are trying to control your speech on the Internet there will be many worse things to come.

I believe a lot of these companies make you jump through hoops, i.e., testing, paper work, etc. before they give you any answers about specifics just so you WILL feel like you have already invested a lot in time and emotion and will not turn back, which is another very good reason to not allow them to silence us on the Internet.  There is very valid information to be shared about companies which is neither bashing nor praising but just that - information allowing us to make a decision about whether a company would be a good fit for us or not - BEFORE doing all the testing.

You must have some doubt in your mind about this or you would not be here asking the question. Go with your gut instinct. There are many good companies out there who do not impose these types of restrictions.

LOL - wouldn't last a day at TSI.. is that
supposed to be a compliment? LOL....
I wouldn't say that...sm
most companies do not say how much they pay because anyone that was any good would not even test then. They also do not base pay on how well you do on the test. You could ace it and still get offered 7 cpl because that is what they start at, no matter how much experience and knowledge you have. Raises are also few and far between. jmo
I wouldn't
It took 7 weeks of my waiting around to get work and then they finally got me on an account and there was no work. One problem after another. Passed between departments, no one ever giving the complete story.

Sad way to run a business in my opinion.
I wouldn't even consider it!
There are MUCH better companies out there...and ones that pay every 2 weeks as opposed to monthly! I would NEVER take a job that paid only once a month!
...nm up there. Pay wouldn't go over 9 cpl not even with
s
I wouldn't...
I am an experienced MT with 30+ years of experience. I just left this company. First of all, they outsource ALL of the good job types/dictators to India. Secondly, whatever the Indians can't do, they send to ASR. If you are happy to be relegated to an ASR Editor making peanuts, or transcribing the really, really bottom of the barrel reports, then go for it. If you are looking for respect, honest and open communication, plus decent pay, I wouldn't touch this with a 10-foot pole. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to Precyse.
you wouldn't know...
you are not morbidly obese. Until you have lived a day in my shoes, save your opinions for someone who cares.
And they wouldn't be the only
xxx
I wouldn't run s/m
I would politely tell that recruiter where he could put his job and that would be where the sun doesn't shine! This should tell you what kind of integrity this company has. Congratulations to you for doing the right thing and giving appropriate notice.
P.S...... and I wouldn't be doing this for a
xx
Me too, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else! sm
I can't believe how many MTs on this board are so miserable and getting SO ripped off! Direct Deposit is always on time for us at Webmedx, pay rate fair, good incentive plan. And I have plenty of work (most of the time, you have to admit that everyone runs out occasionally).
Why wouldn't you ask up sm
front in order to avoid wasting yours or their time what the pay scale was, or at least ballpark.  The time allotted doesn't sound unreasonable to complete the test.  If you bring experience and skill it's do-able.  Someone who cannot complete in that time may not be the best match.  Definitely ask up front next time about pay scale and if it's in line with your expectations.  If not, you thank them anyway, but no thanks and move on.
I wouldn't be so sure about that,
Check the labels in all your clothes, check the boxes the toys came in, check everything. Very little we buy (even at godalmighty walmart) is made in the US. Just because you buy it here, don't be sure it's made here.
Exactly why I wouldn't do this with others.
Sounds like your mom and your sister want the benefits of having their own accounts (higher pay), but want someone to do the extra work for them. Not the type of people I would want to get into business with.
I wouldn't, because it seems that all
that is a joy in your life you would not be able to participate in.   Our pets are just 4-legged children and it would take a lot for me to have to get rid of any of them.   You do what you have to do, especially these days, but I would have to keep exploring options at this point.
I wouldn't think so...sm
Im having almost the exact same problem. Im short on work, have sent emails to owner, etc..no answer. Looking for another part-time, no luck so far.

I would think that would be beneficial to them..being you are already trained and will require little if any startup time.
WMX wouldn't be so bad if...
ChartMatrix wasn't as slow as molasses.  Don't know anything about Enterprise though.  Is it faster than CM?  Any rad accounts for Enterprise?
you probably wouldn't want that job anyway.
Probably has a LOT of ESLs, so that is why they test that way, to see how you do.  Of course, we are all cold testing and that is always daunting.  I hope you hear from one of the other companies.
I wouldn't say more than what has (sm)
been said. There are people from the company (not us peons) here daily and you are lucky to get what little info is given here. You can keep asking but I doubt very much anyone else is going to go into any more than what is here already.
I wouldn't do it.
Sounds like they are getting their work done for free.

Ten reports is an unusual number for testing purposes. Just 3-4 is more like it.

I know, but wouldn't you just like to know? (sm)
I have been lied to from a company before as to why we were getting a pay cut. I guess curiosity is getting the best of me. I am thinking the MTSOs are charging like 15 to 16 cpl, which would mean that most of them are keeping half.
It definitely wouldn't be for everyone
But I know there are several of the fundamentalist Christian groups that would do just fine, and I'm sure there are at least a few muslim MTs. If I didn't like to drive, smoke, schlep around in jeans, and have responsibilities here that required daily attention, it would probably be worth considering, at least for the short term.
No, I wouldn't. ESPECIALLY if it's as an
IC rather than employee. I wouldn't do it just on principle. That's too low of a line rate to pay an MT with 17 years of experience. These MTSOs are getting much too greedy.
I wouldn't......... sm
Although there are some on this forum that say escription is a good platform, I doubt that, between the learning curve and the decreased pay rate, you will benefit by staying. That's just my 2 cents worth. Individual mileage may vary.
hey yen, don't feel bad, she wouldn't like me either

I am divorced and remarried.  My first 2 children are half black and I'm white so they are mixed and my 2 youngest are all white because their  father is white.  I'm married to him but my first husband was black.  I also have worked at home and SPECIFICALLY chose MT so that I could stay home.  Hey, it happens!

Now, go get your spitoon and set out there on the porch and wait for your boyfriend Larry the cableguy to get  home from his REAL job!

I wouldn't know, I'm not a "greeter"

My job is to type acurate Medical Records.

It is true...just ask 98% or the Transcriptionist there.  That's why they all have taken on second jobs to keep some money coming in.  This new program they have has everyone losing money.

Wouldn't be able to get hired anywhere?
Frankly, if you can make it through training, you're a danged GREAT MT!! Toughest QA grading I've ever seen. You have to know your stuff.
Wouldn't surprise me any
If they have "QA to QA the QA'ers," you can bet that each step of the QA-ing will have the QA'ers who are QA-ing the QA-ers who QA the MT finding all the work "they" didn't QA to be crappy QA-ing.  LOL
No, I wouldn't do that. The company
you work for should pay that expense. That's my opinion, at least. I certainly would not pay for the license agreement to use the software they want/need me to use.

You wouldn't be a qualified IC if they did.
nm
If MQ were for sale it wouldn't ....sm
necessarily be a negative thing for the MQ employees regardless of who a new owner might be (same goes true for any company being sold regardless of the industry).
