I would appreciate any and all information about this company. It does not seem to be high on the radar screen.

Upstate Transcription - please read
Okay, just glancing thru the job seeker's board and came upon Upstate Transcription offering A WHOOPING 5-7 CENTS A CHARACTER LINE!!! AND GET THIS - NO OFFSHORE!!!!
WELL WHO IN THE WORLD DO U THINK IS GOING TO APPLY FOR THAT JOB AT THAT KIND OF RATE?!!! WITH THE COST OF EVERYTHING RISING AROUND US AND ALL THESE COMPANIES KEEP DOING IS LOWERING OUR RATES OF COMPENSATION.
Remember this, U get what you pay for!!! Believe me, I hope you get even worse because your offer is an insult to all us experienced MTs trying to make a living.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS FOR U TO OFFER SUCH A LOW RATE OF COMPENSATION AND ANYBODY WHO IS EVEN CONSIDERING APPLYING MUST HAVE A VERY LOW OPINION OF THEMSELVES.
Any info about Upstate Transcription out of SC? nm

Does anyone have any info on Hypertype out of New York? Would love some info on them. Thanks!

Some of the archives mention a $700 equipment fee? Other archives say they are great to work for. Can anyone help clarify this? Thank you
Hypertype
I have worked for Hypertype for 10 years now. Initially, the owner did quote me a $700 equipment fee, that would be taken out gradually over the course of the year. That never happened. Although I never addressed that issue again, I personally feel it is to weed out those who really want the work and those who are just shopping. The past 2 years there has been a $20.00 month fee taken out of each paycheck (which is deductible)
I have gone through 3 C-phones, several laniers, and a variety of other equipment, which were either produced immediately to work on an account where needed, or replaced when faulty, no questions asked. They only ask that the equipment be returned to them promptly if no longer needed. The company has gone through major changes throughout these last few years.
I am happy. The owner is honest, and compassionate. She used to be in the trenches doing this job. Technical help is readily available. My particular QA is wonderful and understanding. Work is steady (at least my long time account). There are occasional slow down periods, but if you call the office they usually set you up with a short term account.
Everyone has a different view of things. For me, this MTSO is the one I will stay with.
I hope this helps explains things a bit.
Hypertype
This company has a lot of MTs who work very part time. The owner may have been in the trenches as another MT stated, but she is in the process of paying off a buy-out from the original owner of the company, and the bottom line is her profit margin. Raises are nonexistent or minimal. The MedRite platform is as ancient as they get. The owner advertises heavily in the Lake George area. Check with MTs in that area about their reasons for not working for this company. The work is feast or famine. None of the accounts are full service accounts, just partial accounts, either overflow or one or two work types.
HyperType
Does anyone have any information on this company in NY state?
HyperType
Old platform (medrite), not enough tech support (not available evenings or weekends). No raises. All overflow accounts. No ability to verify line counts with your own program, entirely reliant on what HyperType's program line count equals. There are two offices. The original office in Harrison has minimal accounts, but the manager tries to maintain work flow. The Lake George office is bigger. The current owner (in the process of buying out the business from the original owner who ran the business for years and years) was the office manager at the Lake George office. Most MTs do not work full time for this company due to lack of work and other issues. Schedule is flexible. They advertise all the time, if that's any indication of how many MTs come and go with this company.
HyperType Been There
Been There. I have a question for you as my computer is all set up with Hyper-Type and I will be briefed Monday on how to use their platform. This is not my first MT job as I did work for a national and a smaller company in Ohio. Your post really has me concerned! Are you currently working for Hypertype? If you don't, what has happened to make you so negative about Hypertype? Please let me know if I made an incorrect choice. I still have time to change!! TKS! Leigh
HyperType
Staff are friendly, truly try to be helpful. In many instances, their hands are tied. Many people in this organization are related to the current owner (red flag). The original owner could have sold the company to MQ, but did not. The current owner makes it a habit to bash the prior owner, tell you all sorts of dirty laundry, goes on and on about how she cannot afford to give raises, yet she's managed to dwindle down this pay off mighty quick. It's an attitude thing. There is not always work. Most of the accounts are overflow or a couple of work types, definitely not full service. Only a very few MTs work full time for this company. We all know the reasons why MTs choose not to work for one company -- instability, lack of work, lost accounts, etc. Hypertype did go to the newer version of MedRite, it's still a dinosaur compared to other platforms available. The tech guys do a good job with what they have to work with, but their hands are tied based on minimal programs and/or education. Your best option is to try the company, not work exclusively for any company, and see how it goes. Best wishes!

Oh, after I posted this I scrolled down and read the posts from Kerry and someone else. All that did was confuse me more! As long as I don't run out of work, I will be be happy. And I do like direct deposit. Hope they do that too. It's either them or Pheonixmed.
I'll keep reading - Comments and suggestions are apreciated!
Thanks!
HyperType
Yes, especially on the weekends or Monday morning. This depends on the account. It also depends on which office you are working for. The original office manages their accounts a lot better than Lake George.

I'm considering working for this smaller company out of NY. However, I've heard that you cannot verify your line counts with an independent program and there's a possibility that the line counts are configured low for the MTs versus higher for the company's charge to the client. Does anyone have any specific information on this company? Do they have enough work to keep a person busy? It just drives me nuts when a company claims to have lots of work, but they really don't. Thanks in advance.
Hypertype
Hi, I work for Hypertype. What you heard about the line counts is correct, but I am not sure about being figured low. I don't really know how to find that out for sure. They use the Medrite system, which I personally like. As far as keeping you busy, most of the time there is plenty on my account, but there have been days when there is not enough. Today was one of those days. Two reports and I couldn't get any more (it is also invoice day, so I figure everyone is trying to get their lines in. As far as ESLs on my account, it is about half and half. Overall I enjoy the work and the pay is on time. The one thing I would change, IMHO, is the QA. I am still fairly new in this field, and I rarely get feedback, which is something I really appreciate when I do get it. I haven't heard from my QA in nearly two weeks, though.
I hope this has helped you.
HyperType
HyperType has no accounts that are full service, so the work can be scarce at times. QA feedback is minimal, but the QA people are not nit-picky.
No, you cannot verify your line counts independently of their program and the counts seem to be low compared to minutes of dictation per report.
The current owner is always in crisis mode. A bit over friendly for being the boss and tends to tell the MTs more than what they need to know about her personal business. Yes, she was an MT, and she was the office manager of the Lake George office before buying the business from the orignal long-time owner (Harrison office). She claims to know everyone imaginable in the MT business world. I consider that people who toot their horn so much are usually problematic.
Note, she advertises very very often in the Lake George area, but has a large turnover of MTs.
Pay is less than ideal, with never ending excuses as to why she cannot afford to give raises, no matter what your QA rating or production numbers.
It's an okay place to work if you don't need a guaranteed income every month.

I just heard that they lost a major account. Does anyone have any idea who took it over?
HyperType
HyperType lost another account, huh? Why am I not surprised?
I can't help you with your question of who took over the account. You might try calling the medical records department of the facility and see if someone there will give you an answer.
HyperType
Does anyone know anything about HyperType in Lake George, NY?
123MT, I hope you see this, I would still like to talk to you.
I think that maybe your email went to my junk mail and it deletes every day. I changed the settings so please try again.
