How do you tactifully quit when you have been begging for work?

I was hired in at a big national. I was warned on this board about this company overhiring and running out of work, but I felt I had to give it a chance. Well, after the first week of training was over, I have literally ran out of work everyday and requested a back up account, which I only received 4 hours pay of training to do. Now, the primary and secondary account is out of work, and in order to make any money I have to stay up until midnight to make up hours if the work is available. If the work is not available, I have to fill out a nonpaid PTO request. I have only been with the company a little over 4 weeks and I cannot believe this is happening. I barely made 42 hours last week and will have a small check yet again this pay. I have had it, I have finally learned to not put all my eggs in one basket and have obtained an IC position with another company and a full-time editing job with another company to keep a pay check coming in. My question is, how do I quit this job with no work? What do I tell them? I do not want to be rude or leave in a bad standing. How do I quit after less than 6 weeks on the job. I have to quit because my bills are backing up. Any suggestions on what to say to quit with tact would be appreciated.
Thank you all.

The "lead" probably quit if she had to spend her time begging for workers...sm
Doubt she was demoted - leads are too hard to come by. She probably quit management so she could get lines herself, or quit completely because she got tired of having to constantly recruit for accounts that were understaffed.
OT with Transcend?? I'm begging for work!
Same old story. We're told if you need work we have plenty. Well, just WHERE THE HECK IS IT? I've begged for work, to no avail. Barely getting by. What platform are you on and which account. I want in on some of that OT!!!!
I am SOOO sick and tired of BEGGING for work!
Anyone know of a company that is hiring ICs, flexible scheduling, multispecialty clinic, at least 8 cents a line (shows my desperation...!), steady, dependable work flow for the most part, a company where you can stay and work for at least a few years straight. Any out there? Do not want MDI-MD. Do not want to be an employee - want to be an IC. Do not want any complicated platforms. Any smaller companies out there? I can't find jack lately, even with over 10 years experience. I need consistent work!
LOL, I am not the one begging for help (sm)
to delete posts because "he's afraid his mama's gonna find out"!!!!!!! ROFLMAO...... uh,, maybe its time you backed away from the keyboard........very slowly....... ...
TT begging for help
I've gotten 3 emails since last Friday begging for extra help on several accounts (not my regular ones). There's work somewhere. Don't know how the accounts are set up or MTs distributed among them, though.
Begging for help
I just don't believe that's true. What makes you the expert. They've always told me there is something on one of the accounts they have if I want to switch over from my regular account. I do too. Some would rather complain than work on a new account. Not me.
Why are they begging for MTs for VR?
I am seeing so many job ads for Escription VR MTs and editors which sound really desperate. They don't want newbies but they are only paying 3 cpl for experienced MTs to edit. Even though they say they will pay 8 cpl for straight transcription, that is a small percentage of the reports. Maybe 10%. I have worked on several Escription accounts and they take so much time to check demographics and cc's and then you must conform your style to theirs and clean up the formatting that it just isn't worth the brain drain. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
Still sounds like begging to me. Why not just
.
6 cpl job ad still begging for a nephrology IC - sm
Looks like they still haven't found someone who wants to work for peanuts while training the EMR and then will be out of a job after that. Too bad.
do i have to quit MQ to work for wedmedx
Help! Do I have to quit my job with MQ to work part-time with Webmedx?
RE: do i have to quit MQ to work for wedmedx
Not unless you want to. Your choice.
quit mq to work for webmdx
i was told they have an ER account that is busy on the weekends...
You don't have to quit. Just work the hours
you are scheduled for and don't depend on them for anything. Put your energies into the other two positions you have and more dependence on them. This job will take care of itself, because they know you can't make a living with the way they are behaving. They will either give you more work to keep you, or if you don't care what they do, the job will just disappear on its own. If you must quit, I think it would be safe to say to them that they are not meeting YOUR needs and that you must move on. I have done it several times because I have been in the same position you are in that I would call bait and switch. Some of they were glad to see me go, others wanted to keep me, but I can't stay unless I am making the money that I REQUIRE to make a living.
I quit due to lack of work. I know of 6 others who also
quit before I did due to lack of work. There are some accounts that have a lot of work, but unless you can work on those accounts it isn't much of a help. I had 3 accounts and with the rare exception of when there was a 2-week period of OT available, I was only getting maximum of 18 hours week. I attempted working during all 3 shifts, working my days off and still couldn't get in my hours/lines. I asked for more accounts, I was willing and able to work, the quality of my work was excellent and I received multiple e-mails from my STM stating how pleased they were with my work, so the excuse that I just couldn't cut it is BULL.
I don't know what the work load is like since I left, but I do know what it was like when I was there and there just wasn't work on my 3 accounts and anyone could see the numbers on the updates and see there were accounts that had tons of work, but there were many accounts with low numbers too. We were also told that under no circumstances would we be paid for downtime.
My current company has had some days where work may not have been available on your shift to complete your line committment, but they pay us for any downtime and we don't have to worry about trying to make it up on a different shift or our days off. The pay is probably less than what we would make transcribing, but is a generous amount.
I have worked for companies that were much worse than WMX, but currently work for one much better. When someone asks how things are there I am honest in my assessment as I see them, but usually get negative posts in return about how I'm not willing to take on more accounts and my work isn't good enough, etc. That is all BULL.
If anyone goes back and read the archives there are many similar posts to mine that were not made by me.
If you have lots of work, have a good STM, and are happy well I'm happy for you, but because someone else has a different story doesn't mean they are a bitter ex-employee who just couldn't cut it.
Has anyone noticed all these companies BEGGING for MTs....
only to see what the line rates are, 7 cpl for the night shift, are you KIDDING ME? I wouldn't do night shift for 10 cpl! and all the evening shifts, same thing? it seems they're getting more and more desperate for experience but wanna pay newbie wages. no thank you! we've worked our butts off too long and too hard only to have the industry decide (in bidding low rates) that we're not worthy.
I urge all of us to let our voices be heard by doing this...simply, before you even consider testing, email to ask what the line rates are. if it is 7 or below for experienced MTs, JUST SAY NO! it's the only way we're going to let them know we're mad as hell and we aren't gonna take it anymore!
I just quit Medquist, hired by Etrans and quit them after one afternoon during the last two weeks!sm
Medquist made me buy a new computer to go to the "Docuscribe" system that was so much better than cottage. When I got there I took a real big pay cut to the tune of probably 30 to 40%. I was getting paid gross lines doing Cedars-Sinai operative reports. I asked for more per line and my supervisor just laughed and said you think were going to pay you $0.12 a line to just do operative reports! I said I quit. I should have said F you and your mamma too:( I had been there all together 7 years through buyouts. I am just sick of it all. I'm going to go sew my daughter a cute little Halloween outfit right now.
Quit Precyse. Work for someone who does not offshore. nm
.
I worked for them a year ago and quit, but now I work for them again and....
I am very happy. I could never get any work before or if I had a question I could never get it answered. I am now on a different platform at a different hospital and am happy. Pay is also always on time (direct deposit.) I could care less if they are indian run, they pay me on time and leave me to my work.
I quit twice. Both times for the same reason...low/no work. nm
x
No India? Most of the work goes there. I quit last August SM
could not make any money there.
Or you could just quit and leave more work for the rest of us... Or, I know - you could sm
do your OWN WORK and stop policing everyone else?!
Well, go back to work and quit trying to stir the pot.
My C-phone accounts are begging for extra
I have 2 and every day this week they have been extremely full and begging for the MTs to work extra. It's too bad the accounts are uneven like this.
Begging to stay on a job, you gotta be kidding....
I am way past the age of begging for a job. I worked on this particular job since 1990, outsourced appx 4 years ago, new company that had the contract called me and I worked there 4 years and yes I quit because of the nasty IM note the QA person was sending to another boss about me and she sent instead to me. The only difference in my quitting and the other MTs there, no one stated their reason for leaving, afraid of being blackballed and so stayed quiet, just put in their 2 week's notice and left. I on the other hand am retirement age. I left and took early vacation to Alaska, took off 3 months when I returned and get this, that company lost the account and I am now with another company that got it back and everything is wonderful here!! Not the constant breathing down the neck from the QA staff, never. I quit that very day because of the picky, picky IMs, got excellent letter of recommendation from the owner of the other company with it stating that particular company would not put up with such unprofessional doings from their QA and taking steps to ensure this did not happen again. You really don't know what you are talking about. Back years ago maybe I would have just sucked it up because I had to work, not now. Have rental homes plus my own, all bills paid, just hubby and myself. Just have your facts straight before you write these little nasty notes.
Quit MQ in June - still in shock with new job. Plenty of work, OT available. (sm)
I just can't tell you how fortunate I feel. The bonus program is good and understandable, you don't have to be a math genius to figure it out. I have 2 accounts, great supervisor, pleasant office staff. For those of you still unhappy with your current jobs, keep the faith, there are good companies out there. Good luck on your search.
Sorry, but it's not me to go say "hey, remember me..I'm sitting with my hand out begging
for acknowledgment. Truly, not bashing the company. Overall, they have been good to me and that is why I stay. Maybe, they aren't the most organized but I am sure they try. I've worked extra to get bonuses and had to beg for that too (same thing..passing the buck..this person forgot to send it out, that person should have already done it, took about 2 months.............so..I'm done with that. I have a job and that's good enough for me. If there were any better companies out there, I'd be there but they have most beat on that. What I have found that overall the best place to work is not for nationals but local doctors. They are the most appreciative and obviously do not have a lot of employees so you don't get lost in the shuffle. Merry Christmas to All. I have my wonderful family who is my life, not my job and that is what matters most to me.
I felt that exact same way and quit a job that was not work out..6 weeks and 30 applications sm
later I am a temporary employee at Walmart for 6.00/hr. Still more than I was making at my production job but how humiliating.
Just do your work and quit being a cherry picking busy body.
Maybe some people cannot understand the dictator. If you understand the dictator, then just do the report and quit whining on this board.
I wouldn't quit a decent company for seasonal low work volume.
I'd hang around and see what the New Year brings. I wouldn't say that if you were working for MQ, but I would for a company with a decent reputation. If it is still slow in January, I'd talk to my supervisor and find out what her take is on the situation.
Larry doesn't know if he's coming or going! One day a mass email to employees begging them to
even though no work, and the next day mass email begging people to hire anybody they can scrape up and now accounts out of TAT, etc. Different story every day of the week, and I don't wanna hear about the company perils! Just let me type! No thanks.
Good Lord! You want to go back to 1918, like my grandma who quit school in 3rd grade to go work
in a box factory? No, child labor laws have nothing to do with poor work ethic. It is simple enough to develop good work ethic with laundry, chores, etc. I think it is more the prosperity of the last few generations. When you have lots of money, it's hard not to give it to your kids, spares you the unpleasant feeling of watching them struggle and suffer...
Perhaps you all should quit (sm)
talking to "Sandy" since she can't spell the name of her own city, she probably isn't "Sandy" after all!
Just quit
I originally told them I wanted to try them out part time for 2 weeks and they agreed but weren't happy about it. I decided what the heck, I'd try FT. For the first FIVE days I had ONE report per day. They kept telling me they couldn't give me a backup until I was off QA, and couldn't get off QA until I had done enough reports!! Lose-lose situation there.
The QA was ridiculous, should have known since the head QA person was from Edix. I had a report that had many many physician errors, illness denied in one spot, added in others. I marked them all for QA and when I got it back, they said they have no way of knowing what's correct so they just put them on through!!! They did find the time however to mark the word "an" that I had put to make the sentence correct as being WRONG, even though the account was not verbatim. I had 2 other QAs come back with errors that I documented to the super that I was right about and they were changed, but all this trouble and I only did 6 reports? I shudder to think what it would be like IF they had any work!!
Quit
Sorry, but there's no other way. Been there, done that. Unfortunately, some QA people get their jollies by terrorizing other people just because they can.
I quit!
Etransplus is all about the numbers, not keeping their MTs in work. If you continue to work for them, you must have a secondary job.
Did you quit yet?
There are companies out there hiring right now even though it's right before Christmas. I had three job offers in one day after leaving. Life's too short to be frustrated.
Believe me, do not quit your other job.
A is the worst place to work
Here is what I would do. I would quit. If you know sm
anyone at Spheris who you have worked with or under that would give you a reference, just use that person as a reference. It is common knowledge that these huge companies could not tell anyone anything about a person who has worked for them. I know one girl who worked for MQ and had been working there for years and applied for a home loan and they told the mortgage company she did not work there!
Point is--figure out who from the company you can use as a reference and use it IF you want to mention you worked for them at all.
Second, unemployment benefits usually have some sort of waiting period and usually you have to be constantly seeking a job during the time you are not employed. It is not worth the hassle. In this business of MT, you can certainly find another job right away or within a week or two. It might not be the amount of money--heck, it could be better! Bottom line is, quit, tell them bye, and move on. Forget about the unemployment and get back to work as soon as possible. These states want you to jump through hoops for that little bit you would most likely collect in unemployment. I know my state has it that you can apply online now and do not have to go into the unemployment office, but many of the unemployment offices are so degrading that you don't want to go there at all.
With all the MT companies out there, you WILL find another job. Go the easy route for yourself and don't put yourself through this degrading process. Get yourself back to work and earning your money and forget about Spheris.
DON'T Quit!!!!
If your could not make line count because you were not qualified, that is their human relations department screw up, they should have verified that you were qualified. If they did, and you were, which I would assume is true because they hired you, I would let them fire me because if they do contest you application for unemployment insurance, they may be made to prove that you are in fact in the minority of their employess who do not make line count, and I think it can be proven that most of the MTs hired do not make line count at these coumpanies for a variety of reasons, many of which have nothing to do with the MT. For instance, SOUND QUALITY OF WORK YOU RECEIVE, TECH SUPPORT IN A TIMELY FASHION, MORE THAN THE USUAL NUMBER OF ESLs, NOT USER-FRIENDLY WORK PLATFORM, POOR TRAINING ON THEIR PART. Unemployment is usually only refused for people who Willfully cause themselves to be fired, not for those who actually tried. Remember, it was their job to determine if you were qualified, unless you lied to them, which is a whole new ball game. In any case, a reference from a company you worked at for four months is worthless, so let them fire you and take your chances. But do offer to try harder and ask for their help in making a go of it, it will look good if they fire you anyway, and document and print emails that are pertinent to your case. Connect a printer to your PC if you do not already have one and print all their emails. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Does anybody know who was let go or quit?
x
One day for me too. I also quit....
because of poor communication. Never answered my QA questions or sent any feedback to me. I realize no news is good news but good grief, at least answer my questions.
no one said they were going to quit
yet either. You actually do not seem either intelligent or rational as you obviously refuse to see that there are issues and believe that if you just pump out the work that you will be okay, which is very naive as someone else had posted. You also need to remember that I am sure that a lot of other MTs have heard somewhat of the same song and dance at other companies and have seen what happened. There comes a point sometimes when things walk like a duck, if you will, that you do question seriously whether it is going to be duck.
Anyone who quit, where did you go?
If you found a good company, can you please let me know where you went! I need to get out of here! Thanks a lot!
Never quit one job until you are sure of the second job. Do them
p
Then don’t quit your day job, I get
4 cents per line for VR.
Just quit there sm
Management is severely lacking.
Trainer was an idiot (but at least she didnt cuss all the way thru the exam like Cbay's trainer did)
They lost the account I was on.
EXACTLY WHY I QUIT OSI!!
I worked third shift and got nothing but very old crap because of cherrypicking by team lead to her favorites. Not only were the age of the jobs obvious but another MT who quit for personal reasons told me that she used to get the best jobs from the team lead. Team leads on OSi are completely worthless for the most part. They get a salary for doing nothing except doling out gravy jobs.
So you quit without having another job?
There are always possibilities but I for one could not afford to just quit without having another job. I don't know your situation though but am happy for you to be relieved. Some of the working conditions make me crazy sometimes but I am overall happy where I am though it is not perfect by any means.
I'd try them out before I quit my other job.
nuff said
If you already have another job just quit OSI
/
Quit the job you have now
BTW: When I said let us know when you quit this one, I meant the one you hate right now... not Transcend.
also PS: I reread my post, I used the word then too much! I am really a transcriptonist, I want to go back and edit my posts to make it BOS compliant! LOL. Have a great day.
