vaction - quite a sweet deal ... while the rest of us are struggling with monumentous premiums (financing a newbie's love/sex life not my idea of fair play).  Many of us haven't gotten a single day of PTO, (thanks to the line requirement to meet when there is no/low work) and most of have been here much longer than 4 months.

You will be hired fast and then wait weeks or months for work...SM
You may be asked to invest in expensive equipment, likely to run out of work regularly and not have your calls returned when you try to contact them. They do pay well but the work is NOT there more than it is, so great pay doesn't mean much. They sell it to you great but they don't deliver.
There is no way I would work for anyone who did not pay me. If I get paid every 2 weeks, then..
the first time my check is more than a couple days late, they can forget it. You can bet they are getting paid by their clients. Who do they think does the work. The MTs should be paid above all else. I would give them a date that they had to "overnight" by check by or I'd file a company with a labor board, BBB, anyone who will listen. These companies get away with it because no one stands up for themselves. I do the work that is asked of me and I expect to be paid one time. No one should except any less than that. Good luck to you and nail them right where they stand on this one!!

Owner is great. I would recommend this company to anyone who wanted to be paid what they are worth and paid on time!

Most of the people there are great. Sharmz is correct that they way they manage their accounts is odd. It just doesn't work they way they do it.

Sharmz, you'll probably get an email from the HR person or call the office (Erica I think) and they'll send out a call ticket for the computer.

NO. You can't just get a raise just 'cause. Our government works that way, but this is not the basis of good, old, happy capitalism, which our grand country was founded upon.

There are different levels for different pay, and the way to move up in line count is clearly outlined for the MTs. If you're unwilling to do what's required to get the raise, do you think they should just give it to you? They're not just trying to get you to jump through a hoop to give you a raise. They're trying to help you become a better transcriptionist. If you never did anything to better yourself (get your CMT, work on a harder account), you would stay stagnated in your same position. Learn the harder work! It will not only give you a raise, you'll be more marketable, and you'll earn respect and be less replaceable. Some companies don't ever offer raises, no matter what you do, so this is not a bad deal!

No, they're not going to do it. You have to prove that you are worth it. MTs are a dime a dozen, and you HAVE to show them you're in 1st place out of 12. Don't just do what they're asking to move up. Do MORE than that. Increase your production. Volunteer to help newbies. Get your CMT.

It's worth the effort, and so are you!
In these days of low work, I wish EVERYONE would go have a baby, go on sm

vacation, get your bunions fixed, etc., and leave more work for me! 


I don't understand the anger towards people on maternity leave, but as a 50-year-old happily menopausal old woman, I'm also not too flattered with the nasty little cobwebs in the womb retort by someone.  I do not resent women who want to have babies -- better them to deal with all of that than me.  I can barely handle taking care of myself and my doggie, so hats off to you. 


Seems lately that we are all kind of sniping at each other and we forget that we are all in this together.  I know that times are tough -- I'm feeling it myself -- but that's when we should bond together and support one another.


Anyone want to join me in a round of Cumbaya?  Or even better, the Barney song? 


 


Do you usually get paid every 2 weeks?
If I could basically count on pay pretty much every 2 weeks, then that would be fine. They seem good, otherwise.

I got to be paid on time every two weeks or I'm outta there! Just my advise

I've worked for Ubiqus for 2 years now and I get paid every two weeks.
I really enjoy the work because it's advisory board meetings, round table discussions, and big conferences of all fields of medicine.  I started with them right after I graduated and I've never done any of the doctor dictation, I like this work better.
I do not get 3-4 months paid time off
every year. I do work 50 out of 52 weeks.
I left about 3 months ago, but was never paid
shift differential, never paid OT. 
TransTech and low/no work for months and months _ don't think there are continous holidays LOL

This HORRIBLE low/no work situation has been going on at TT for almost a year now.  You can't convince me it is due to Memorial Day.  Are holidays now assigned in this world to being daily. 


That is an excuse these companies use in these no work situations, but it is due to their OVERHIRING.  Holidays just come on a daily basis, but LOW WORK/NO WORK is happening and has happened going on a year now at TransTech.  Always asking to flex into the middle of the night, EVERY weekend, etc. 


The TT mgmt checks are NEVER affected, tho, so they can continue to HIRE EVERY MT who gives them a call, and create a NO WORK situation for all of us.  The newbie MT's are cheering at first, but then realize that it hit them in the paycheck, too, and very soon it did!!!!!!!

I'm sorry this happened to you, but when the first month's check didn't arrive, that would have been it.  I still enjoy transcribing (most days) but not enough to do it for free. 


Good luck to you in getting your money   That's an awful thing to happen to anyone.

Tired of getting the same ol' message that things will pick up.  I remember the days of bonuses, making money and being able to pay my bills!  I am also wondering what is going with these companies not having work.  Is everybody sending work overseas?

Yes, I have backup accounts.  Yes, they are out of work, too.  So how many backups should I get and how many account specifics do I have to keep straight to make minimum wage here?  I understand summer slump, but this is bad, really, really bad!!!!

Why on earth would I be management anywhere. Anyone who is a quality MT and gets good line counts knows being paid on production and being eligible for OT is far more profitable than being management. None of the nationals pay squat for management. If you figure management is on call pretty much 24/7, they make less than minimum wage most places. I will always be an MT, production is how I like paid and I like being paid for OT, not being exempt like the managers are.

I quit working for Spheris about 6 months ago (after 5 years). Cannot believe how miserable they had made me...

several of us will probably get warnings for not making line count this pay period. What amazes me is that they've got an ad out today. Makes me wonder if things are going to get worse before they get better.

I agree with the other poster. Futurenet is great! They are very respectable. A lot of working is going to SR now though. That is the only downfall I have for them. But they work with you on everything! If they offered benefits, which they don't, I don't think anyone could beat them whatsoever. Pay is ontime EVERY time! Excellent staff! I have been there for a little over 2 years and have thought about going other places ONLY for benefit purposes but I just can't! They are too good to leave! I will be with them as long as they will allow me to. Couldn't picture myself working for anyone else!

I don't know who you are....but, I just sent an SOS to OSi to bring attention to your posts here.  You are incredibly foolish  and immature to come here making such statements and dropping names and phone numbers.  I don't know anything about OSI, but I do know that you have really crossed the line here.  You are obviously not very bright because of your improper usage of several words in your post...and misspelled words as well. 


If you actually do work for OSI, they are going to know who you are once they read your posts and your 'good thing' will come to an end. If I were in management there, I'd fire  you on the spot  for what you have done here.  You are pathetic.

I had a baby in December and did not qualify for FMLA because you have to get at least 25 hours a week or so many hours average for the year. I do not know if this is different from state to state, but this was true for me. I did get a 6 week unpaid leave of absence because I did not have any PTO. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and was off starting the end of October and had to come back to work 9 days after my baby was born.

If you qualify for FMLA you can get up to 12 weeks, but I think you still have to use PTO or sick time to get paid. The best thing is to check with your human resource department where you work. By the way, congrats if you are pregnant!

Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
I think ill prescribe 75 mg of Effexor.. 2 weeks off of work...for everyone!

After seeing some of these posts, reading through many ads, and speaking with recruiters, and being knee deep in seeing some of the "mishandled, misappropriated, misguided, hypocritical, and profound blatant mistakes on reports, that are missed by QA, and mostly by some of these same Transcriptionist themselves, who are masticating
I have been with MQ Amherst now for 3 weeks and have continually run out of work. I know this has
been hashed out on here many times but my question is does anyone expect this problem to ever get resolved or should we simply expect to keep running out of work at Amherst forever. I know when they call me about the new pay plan and tell me it is incentive based I plan to tell them they better make sure we have work or their plan is a joke. What can I expect with this office and what can be done to correct it. I dont plan to have to work 8 accounts to get my lines in and have them QA me on accounts I have never done besides. If this problem is long standing and unlikely to be resolved it is time to either get out of that office or get out of MQ so I would like some good ideas and comments on this. We know it exists but what is the next step.
Why is OSi hiring new people when I have been out of work for 6 weeks?

I am statutory (or IC, whatever they are calling it now).  I have a main account and 2 -- count them 2 -- back up accounts.  I have been out/short of work for over 6 weeks.


Unless you are a full time employee, you get no benefits, no hourly, NOTHING.  I am amazed that they are hiring when they have people already trained and begging for work!!!


Don't they realize that it costs a WHOLE lot more in turnover to train a new employee than to keep an already-trained one happy?


I'm looking at other nationals now.  I've never been one to job hop, but I just can't take the time off any more!!!

Looks like I will be going to work in-house with an hourly wage. I love being home, but I can't afford to sit around and barley make a couple bucks a day. This is ridiculous! What's happening right now? Why are we all out of work. I have asked for more accounts, but low volumes across the board...

Since you're planning to have a baby
a couple of years from now, you might also want to consider opening a flexible spending or a medical spending account and put some money aside on your own. Not to tie you to the computer 24/7, but perhaps you can pick up an account locally on your own and set the money aside.

This business is unstable with offshoring, buyouts, lost accounts and the fluctuating workload. You're smart to plan ahead, but I wouldn't exclusively rely on an employer. Is your husband's insurance another resource? Good luck to you.

They do double talk at MDI. But their supporters are probably favorites or mgmt. There are plenty of people who have been messed up by this company's revolving door and double talk. I am one of them and I see others on this board as well. If this poster is throwing any bathwater it is to clean the misrepresentation and expose the clean honest truth.

I have 2 accounts, with no work on either.  I used to think they cared, but now I am not so sure. If there is no work now, I have to think the closer it gets to Thanksgiving, it will really be awful. 
Why is transcend advertising for help. No work is the story for 3 or 4 weeks.

In 2+ years, never been so low in work, even with secondary accounts to try to go to. And now they advertise for more help?  Are we all supposed to go to part time?
