I am considering working for someone as an IC. They want me to pay them $39 for HIPPO. Not sure what that is but it seems to be a free download. Anybody know exactly what it is? Thanks!

FTP & Hippo
FTP means file transfer protocol. It's a common way to transfer files over the internet, but you will need to download a program to do so. Hippo is the brand name of just one of many, many different FTP clients out there to choose from.
hippo FTP
As an IC, you are responsible for acquiring your own equipment necessary for performing the job in question.
I am guessing she wants you to purchase Hippo FTP specifically because she wants to utilize the encryption function that may not work with other FTP clients. I am not sure about that though; just a guess.
You could use HIPPO as your primary FTP client on other accounts if you did purchase it, however.
Try Blue Hippo
Try www.bluehippo.com They don't do credit checks and you can get a computer on a weekly payment plan. I have not used them personally so can't comment there. You may also want to consider a Rent-A-Center type place. Good Luck.
I think Hippo is FTP client software
